This was my local for many many years. First the George Pub and then the Eurasia. Jo, who runs it is a lovely lady and we, as a family, had many special evenings there. in fact, our 2 children were named whilst we had a drink and dinner. Fortunately, both had normal names, not called Crispy Squid or Special Fried Rice. :). It has been a while since we have been back, but we have fond memories of Jo and her restaurant and we saw many people come and go. Always look for the plaque next to the right side of the bar. Very emotional. I will return. Thanks.

Food was good, though a big pricey. We found the venue sole-less, an infrequently-used and tired old pub, that serves Asian food. Service was poor. Had good time with friends, but will probably not return.

I have to say I’m really disappointed with our meal, firstly it cost much more than any local restaurant, so we thought we were in for a treat. It started off well and the crispy wan tuns were delicious but the lemak prawns tasted of nothing and I couldn’t eat it and the pernakan kerisek, was borderline and wasn’t edible and had to be thrown away, the special fried rice had no flavour at all, generally a very disappointing meal. I rang the restaurant to let them know, I got a very confrontational response, saying I was wrong and didn’t know what I was talking about, she talked over me and was not prepared to listen, I said I had tried other meals locally which were cheaper and much better, which she took great offence to and then proceeded to slag off a local restaurant and shout me down. All I wanted was for them to look into it and a simple apology, instead I got a major ticking off. Looking at previous bad reviews, the response the restaurant has given is what I expect them to do to me. A bit of constructive criticism helps develop businesses, maybe they should keep this in mind.

Customer service at Eurasia has become insulting. I see from Jo's responses below the change comes from the top. I have been a great fan of Eurasia in the past - weekly take-aways for two or three years - but on the two occasions I have visited for take-away since the lockdown re-opening the new attitude has been clear. The first occasion I waited twenty minutes in the car park past my pick up time while the restaurant dealt with the lady in front of me whose order was missing a duck dish. The attitude of the restaurant staff was all about allocating blame rather than smoothing over and creating harmony. This week it was my turn to be insulted. Chicken instead of vegetarian, which I noticed when I got home. I called up to explain and ask for a replacement but before I could say much I was told it was my fault and that I was lying about claiming to have ordered vegetarian. Sigh.

I ordered take away this evening from The Royal George Hurst Green and it was a terrible experience. We ordered several dishes; Singapore laksa, chicken satay but it was dry and tasteless. Also, we were excited to get Nasi Lemak but turned out that they gave us coconut rice instead. I asked my Malaysian friend, they confirmed that Nsai Lemak is a set: rice comes with sambal (a spicy paste) and some other ingredients. We called back to ask for the missing ingredients but they explained that Nasi Lemak means coconut rice. The waiters and chef are clearly Malay but don’t even understand the Malaysian dishes properly. Also, they charged us extra for the food, so I wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

We’ve been here before when it was trading as Eurasia only but under the owner’s decision to change the branding/image, it has actually improved from being very good to simply superb! The service, staff attitude was very friendly and obliging supported by excellent quality of malasian food. It is now more of a pub atmosphere which has been achieved well.

Eurasia as was, served the best Asian and Malaysian cuisine, we always had a fantastic meal and introduced many of our friends and family to the restaurant. We visited following the re-vamp and had a very indifferent meal in the restaurant, little choice on the menu and the food was absolutely no comparison to what we were used to, however we gave them the benefit of the doubt and ventured back on Saturday evening, when we ate in the main restaurant which is also a pub, it was noisy with the drinkers at the bar and the food was ordinary, bland and not enjoyable at all- we wont be going back but will always remember the old eurasia which we loved - simply if it aint broke dont fix it -

With just a few more tweaks, Eurasia, or as it is now called the King George, could be a really good...what? Is it a restaurant, or is it a pub? First things first; the food here is now really excellent; the former offering of Chinese /Malaysian has been replaced by JoLee going back to her roots and offering Malaysian Cuisine, and in my humble opinion, I don't know why she doesn't get rid of the "English" fayre. I have now eaten here 5 times since the revamp, and relaunch, and every time the food has been excellent. My continuing gripe with this place is the room itself (there is another dedicated private dining room which is excellent.) The main room, although freshly decorated in a very pleasant colour scheme, is a bizarre mix of pub and restaurant, and I'm afraid neither really works - maybe just a simple screen between the bar and the "dining room" would help to define the areas? Either way, I will keep going back for the food alone, and well done to the dynamic JoLee and her team!!

We went on Friday night with a group of friends. Yes it is different and yes the bar is noisy but Jo made us all lovely satay, fish cakes, garlic prawns and spare ribs to start which were as good as ever. The lovely waitress Abi took our orders and went back and forward to the kitchen with “ sorry but there are no ribs “ and then brought a plate out. It was chaotic but the food was as delicious as ever with Malaysian curry for main my prawn curry was fab as were the chicken versions. We were given to option to sit in the Penang room but then we wanted to mix and match our menus. The British version is burgers, fish and chips etc. Jo came out to explain that they hadn’t forseen to quantity of customers arriving so soon after opening and had run out of some things. It was a fun evening with great friends and a hint of Basil Fawlty. The Malaysian food remains excellent and Jo accommodate s every request if she can. Don’t be put off!

This has been our special restaurant for years. Altho the decor was always basic the food was 100% outstanding ! Best for miles ! Booked tonight and oh my word ! It’s been turned into a rowdy loud pub with the same owner too! You have a room to eat with a basic set menu . Or another room for British fish and chip style menu. It was so bad we left . We have been going here for 3 years however it has now changed from the beautiful Asian and Malaysian cuisine to a majority of the usual pub specials. The owner for some reason has now turned it back to a pub, with pub food in one area and a three course meal in a room off to the back. The once most loveless restaurant we enjoyed going to was turned into a noisy place with a guy who had the most hideous laugh that echoed throw each room. We did order off the menu as other people had done also, however after 30 mins we were informed by Jo that we can have it but it will take another 20 mins or so. We decided to leave as our favourite restaurant which we travelled 20 miles to get to was over. Good luck and good bye we’ll miss you the soft shell crab, the salt and pepper prawns and the Malaysian curry. We can get pork, steak fish and chips anywhere and will remember you fondly.

Having visited Eurasia with friends; the first time for a of us, back in October and having had an excellent meal we went back for a take-away a couple of weeks later and the food was just as yummy (our friends get all their take away from there now ) We decided to introduce some more friends; one of which is Chinese, to this restaurant on Saturday 8th December. My partner and I were really looking forward to it and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent and better still, our friends were also impressed with our Chinese friend stating she will willingly eat there again as it was so delicious. Well done to the cooks and the lovely Chinese/Malaysian proprietress who was so welcoming and accommodating.

My friend and I passed this restaurant on our drive from London to Hastings on 14/10/2018. Having read its glowing reviews, we decided to dine there on our drive back to London. With great expectation, we ordered chicken satay and wanton soup as starters, beef rendang and mee goreng as mains. The chicken satays were tasteless. They tasted as if there had been smothered with peanut butter. The wanton and its soup were awfully tasteless as it the cook forgot to season them with salt and just poured plain boiling water onto them as broth! When the rendang was brought to the table, my friend who is a rendang connoisseur couldn't believe the two strange ingredients (peas and carrots) sitting on top of the rendang. After one bite then only we realised why these ingredients were there. They were to fool your sight in the hope that you taste bud would tell no difference! The rendang had no taste of any coconut cream or galangal or even ginger. The beef was tough. Being an Asian, who cook these dishes for dinner, I found these dishes were such an insult to the authenticity of these Malaysian dishes. The cook and restaurant may have fooled many diners who do not know what is considered authentic or not but they will never fool the real Asian foodies like my friend and I.To top it all, the head waiter was rude to her own staff and that must have caused the staff dropping some plates and glasses during the service! On these notes, I could not write anything good about your food and service!

The proprietor, for it must be she, welcomed us well enough, but the service was prefunctory and in one case almost hostile for lack of a smile. The place was on the cold side, it was a chilly evening to be fair, but the heating thermostat might have been a little more generous. The food was ok, the Nasi Goring was listed as 'spicy', not so, bland and boring. The Pak Choy with Duck was alright, but the duck was overcooked and dry. We wouldn't revisit, sad since it is one of the few on the A21 between Tunbridge and Hastings...that said, it has a car park 'off road'. If you want to eat Chinese and this is convenient for you then fine, but we wouldn't go out of our way to repeat the experience...

In our opinion this is the best asian restaurant we know - anywhere. We have either dined or "take-awayed" twice a month ever since it opened 20 years ago! (Once, we had a below par dish, once.) The cooking is high-class and the owner Jo's enthusiasm is obvious - quality rather than profit is her motivation. The A La Carte includes some interesting dishes from Malaysia (her home); Japan; Thailand and naturally China. All are cooked equally well. On some days an excellent "buffet" menu is offered where for around £17 you can re-order as often as you wish from a large selection of dishes. (It is not a "queue for rapidly cooling dishes in trays" style buffet; but a repeatable waitress service one. There is a wide variety to choose from to suit all tastes and levels of hunger). Harvey's is one of the beers served in the bar, handy whilst you wait for a takeaway. But the cooking is the star and it really is excellent in every way.

Eurasia is probably one of the best Chinese restaurants outside of London. In the heart of East Sussex, it has an authentic atmosphere. The food is excellent and the service friendly. I'm told they do a good take out service too. Great for families, couples or just friends. Liked this place!

Eurasia is a Malaysian/Asian restaurant. Living close by, we have been several times and the food has always been unfailingly good. Certainly worth a visit if you like freshly cooked Asian food.

We went to Eurasia for a pre-Christmas meal with friends. We have all been there before but not for some time as it can be a little costly. However after some pre-dinner drinks in the bar and starters ordered - off we set. We had a shared platter to start with which was very tasty and interesting. Aromatic duck next - shredded in front of us - with plenty of pancakes and extras, very good duck with plenty of taste and crispy bits and the bones to gnaw on if you felt so inclined. We chose four main courses and two noodle dishes to follow - all were excellent especially the Chilli Beef and Chilli Garlic prawns. The chicken dish was a little tasteless compared to the others, and the Lamb dish was also very good. Noodles were lovely and a good accompaniment to the dishes. We all enjoyed tasting the different dishes and have to say not very much was left - except what had managed to find its way onto the tablecloth! Unfortunately having got through all the above, I really fanced some apple fritters - but there weren't any as a larger party had finished them all off, which was really disappointing. But have to say the service was excellent and quick without being intrusive (apart from some cold plates which were exchanged immediately for hot ones) and the wine chosen was very good, and an excellent price too. We all agreed that it was a very enjoyable evening and a very good choice of venue.

The building housing this restaurant used to be The George Inn, an impressive stablehouse inn conveniently located on the A21 in Hurst Green. In days of yore, one of the great stopovers on the horse and buggy route from London to Hastings, where you could get your horses fed and watered as well as yourself. The architecture of the building is still impressive on the inside, with sweeping tall ceilings and a touch of the finery that was once pre-Victorian England. The food is good, I am a regular for 20 years or so, so have lost my impartiality. If you are in the area, its a convenient place to take a break. Parking is on-site and you are right on the A21, so no detour required if you are on your way to the coast for the weekend. Here's to The George! I like to make that toast with sake when I'm there!

Whenever my daughter comes to visit, this is where she wants to go. It's part of our history and family folk-lore ("remember the time mum dropped a whole crab into her handbag?") and it's consistently good. This time we had lots of seafood and spicy noodles. The new waiter was a bit dozy, but I'm sure they'll soon knock him into shape!

Really good food and great value for money. Very impressed with the choice and quality of food. Definitely one of the best we've experienced in the Hastings area, worth the 15 minute drive.

I was appalled to see the ill informed and ignorant review posted by Andy V, As a Contractor who cleans kitchen ventilations systems the kitchens and restaurant in this restaurant are by far the best in the South East of England, I can personally vouch for the hygiene standards maintained and upheld by the staff and proprietor. I regularly eat at this restaurant and can also vouch for the quality of the produce used and the authenticity of the dishes...My access behind the scenes allows me to comment on this also I am widely travelled 41 countries so far! and do not base my views of food on a microwave meal purchased in ASDA.

We used to be regulars here, but haven't been for a while. We took my daughter (who always wanted to come here when she lived at home) and my brother from Canada, and it was every bit as good as it ever was. The best Singapore Noodles anywhere, great beef, lovely prawns in coconut sauce - and friendly service as ever.

We have been twice now and enjoyed both times. We have had the Malaysian and Chinese set menus. Everybody is very caring about my gluten problem even if they have to change a lot of things on the set menu. The food takes a time to come but tastes better as it is prepared specifically to order. We shall go again and will try the take aways. Wine is sensibly priced.

This was our second visit; the first visit (Thursday) we had the 'spicey' Thai, Malay menu, food just superb. Next time we visited on a Tuesday we had the Chinese menu just took me back to China and Hong Kong. But it was not just the food, the owner Jo Lee one of the nicest and friendliest persons one could hope to meet. The whole ambience and food experience was just beyond any UK Far Eastern Restaurant, if you pass this restaurant without stopping you've missed out on the best Far Eastern Restaurant in the UK.

I have lived within 10 miles of this restaurant for 18 years and finally decided to visit when my regular Asian restaurant had been closed. I am now kicking myself regularly for having waited 18 years. Having frequented many Asian restaurants in the past across the world I can honestly say that this rates as one of the best meals I've had. All the dishes had their own unique flavour, the portions were plentiful and the staff made the whole experience a pleasure. It was that good I'm booked to return next weekend.

Its refreshing to find a restaurateur that is confident in their approach to cooking that they don't feel the need to 'dumb down' a complex cuisine for western tastes. This is about the most authentic Malay food you will find outside of spending 16 hours on a plane,Is it fine dining, no. But that's not what you want from this experience. The friendliness of the staff and owner lead you comfortingly into dish after dish of self assured cooking that invokes fond memories of Malaysia and warmer climates. My advise, give yourself time to fully enjoy the myriad of tastes this restaurant can produce, seek advise from the informed and experienced proprietress if you want the best results. Don't eat the day before, you really want to be hungry when you come here!!Must haves. Curry Puffs, Satay (I wish I had room for each kind), The noodle dishes (get them all!!) If this restaurant was in central London, you wouldn't get a seat. Will we be back, Oh yes and we'll be wearing elasticated pants.

Spontaneous decision to avoid midweek cooking. Absolutely delicious food with an authentic taste. Will definitely go again although I think it would be nice if they re-thought the decor and ambiance which feels a bit chi chi and dated. There was a lack of atmosphere, which may have been due to a quiet midweek evening, and it was distinctly chilly. Reasonable prices.

Went for dinner last night . Ordered a st seafood menu . Within minutes the proprietress came and asked us if we were sure about what we had ordered as the total cost would be about £60!It was most insulting and something I have never faced before . The food was average for the price. I wonder if such a question would have been asked of a white customer ? There was no question of leaving a tip as our ability to pay for the dinner itself had been questioned!

i recently moved to the area and after looking at the reviews i was sure the food was going to be good quality, and i was right! the Food was excellent and a very good price! my only gripe would be that some of the staff were reprimanded in front the customers and it made me and, visibly quite a few others uncomfortable i will defiantly return but i hope to see some change in the treatment of these youngsters. It made me and my and my girlfriend very uncomfortable, we hate to see such young ones treated badly.

Having spent 6 months in Asia last year we were worried that this wouldn't meet our standards, but we were pleasantly surprise! The original plan was to order a takeaway but we liked the look of the place so we ate in. We had Char Sui pork and Chicken Rendang and they were great. There were plenty of staff though they had a habit of staring into space rather than look after the tables.

We tried this place on our way back from Hastings when our usual place was fully booked. On the outside, it looks a little like a typical Thai pub but inside it is actually a smart Malaysian restaurant with extra seating for those just drinking. The inside of the main restaurant section looks like a Victorian drawing room with high ceilings. All the food we had was delicious. The menu is mostly Malay with some Chinese. Prices were sensible and there are special deals three days a week including a kind of choose-your-own buffet on Sundays which has the benefit of choice and quantity but everything is freshly cooked. Large car park to the right side of the building. Toilets were clean and modern. Children welcome. Recommended!

Fantastic curry house busy and vibrant with great food. Highly recommend the lemon chicken dish. We went on a Tuesday with no booking and although they curry house was full the staff found us a table and the service was fast and good despite the amount of people - in my top 2 if not the best I have been too
