Booked for Christmas Day (not a cheap meal) and it was an extremely disappointing visit. The landlord confirmed for 1pm and when we arrived the restaurant was empty. 25 minutes later the waiter informed us food wasn’t being served till half 2. I did show them the message with a 1pm time stated, but they knew nothing of it. We went down to the bar and an hour later the landlord came to tell us to go up to the restaurant. No apology was forthcoming for our wait. Tables were cheaply decorated considering it was Christmas Day and that should have warned us what was to come. When it finally arrived, the food was bland and very poorly presented. Prawn and avocado cocktail was half an avocado and a few prawns on a plate. Christmas dinner was turkey, potatoes, a couple of parsnips and the smallest pig in blanket ever seen! Sprouts and carrots were then unceremoniously plonked on table in cereal bowls. Service was inadequate to say the least and they were clearly new and had had no real training. We then waited over an hour for dessert and they then mixed up the orders. Some people left as they were fed up of waiting. When it was time to pay the balance, I was too angry to say anything. However, I did message the landlord the following day stating I wanted to give him ‘right to reply’ before writing a review. He messaged back an apology saying he was sorry he had forgotten to tell us of the change in time, he also said he had had to intervene in the kitchen and as a result, was now chef-less! He also said he would welcome us back when he had a new chef for a meal (without charge)! The experience would have been disappointing if it had just been a regular meal but the fact it was a special day was also really upsetting. Clearly customer satisfaction is not a priority and I would strongly recommend you choose a different restaurant. Please don’t waste your time and money.

Just been to the gun Inn this lunchtime. The welcome and service given to us was just wonderful and welcoming. The meals were well presented and absolutely delicious. We wish the new owners every success as they well deserve it Looking forward to visiting the gun again soon Thank you

We stopped off here for a drink and a bite to eat on route to Manchester. We were welcomed by a very friendly barman and ordered a drink to begin with. Looking at the menu we decided to eat, lots of nice things to choose from. We both ordered the beef and onion baguette with chunky chips. Food arrived in a very reasonable time and the chips were indeed chunky! Baguettes were really good and we were both very happy with our choice. Great price for the quality of the food, we would stop there again!

We live locally and have seen the Gun's ups and downs over the years. However, we keep trying and are usually disappointed and don't go back. Most of this is due to first impressions, smokers in the porch, locals standing at the bar looking at you like you're intruding on their private space. Generally not good. But; we thought we'd give it a go last Friday and were mildly surprised. The atmosphere was nice, mixed couples and families, we only had fish and chips but they were well cooked and tasty, the service was ok and the staff pleasant. What a change. We need a good local pub in the village and the new management seem to have made a good start. Downside was outside seating area was one big ashtray. Not nice to sit in on a sunny evening.

Went to the Gunn inn a few times for Sunday lunch and it was lovely. All home cooked and great service. Since we have been I have heard there have been issues with the kitchen equipment so I hope it is sorted soon as we really enjoyed it.

We live locally and have always supported the Gun Inn. We called in tonight with our 10 year old for an early tea. Food was not being served and the language at the bar was disgusting, certainly NOT what you want to listen to with a 10 year old. Disappointing all round as the new landladies promised great things when they took over

We've been into Gracie's a few times, we are finding the service getting worse. Never told there is a wait for food and we waited 40 mins for a sausage muffin and bacon muffin. Coffees the same wait. It seems they are running two businesses, a cafe and takeaway, more takeaway meals being given first to taxi drivers than atuall meals served in the cafe. Only one lady taking orders, doing drinks and clearing tables. I heard two people complaining to her while we waited.Sadly we won't be going again.

When we arrived, our table wasn’t ready and we had to wait in the bar. After finally sitting down, we asked to see an allergens menu which they couldn’t provide. The member of our party who had an allergy then told the waitress his allergies and she went away to speak to the chefs and came back saying that they couldn’t cater for him at all. We then asked if he could go off the bar menu as was unable to eat off the Mother’s Day menu. They said no because only people in the bar (2m away) were able to go off this menu. The staff then tried to blame ourselves for this saying that we should’ve said at the time of booking. We go out to eat at least once a week and we have never had this issue and if they have issues with catering for allergies surely they should’ve asked me if anyone had any allergies on the phone when I called to make a reservation. Since it was Mother’s Day and everywhere would be fully booked we had no choice but to stay and the member with allergies had to sit and watch us eat! Whilst we were there a number of glasses piled up on the table and when we asked them to remove the glasses they didn’t. The lady on the table next to us also got ketchup thrown all over her by a clumsy waitress who promised it wasn’t on the lady’s jacket (which it was). The service was incredibly slow also. We sat down at about 2:15 and didn’t leave til around 5pm. At about half 3 there was another family who came in to get there table and they didn’t get seated until well after 4pm. When we asked for our bill, they had charged us or 6 adults instead of 5 and a child! I wonder how many people they’ve tried this with and got away with! Such a shame bc I was looking forward to trying a few things on their menu at a later date but 100% will not be returning. Absolutely dreadful. Couldn’t have asked for a worse Mother’s Day.
