We had an excellent lunch with beautiful views of the Sussex countryside. Really friendly and helpful staff, even on a busy Sunday lunch! Pop served us and was really great! We are both vegan and had great options including a roast dinner which was amazing and a pizza too!

We love going to The Gun - never disappoints. The service and food are second to none. Our waitress, the lovely Julia, is superb and knows how to make you feel welcome, and looks after you very well. My family love their fillet steak which is always delicious and, again, top notch. We can't praise this restaurant enough. the Monk family xx

I had booked here for my partner's birthday, we also knew that we would have an amazing experience here. I had informed them that it was his birthday when booking our table. When we arrived we were welcomed and taken to our table, the menu looked good, our hostess Andrea was attentive and very lovely. The food was amazing, there was a good range of vegetarian meals and when my gut loving bowl arrived I couldn't have been happier, the scallops were enjoyed by my partner and eldest son and even though I don't eat them, they did look good. Once our dessert order was taken, we had a chance to chat, they then bought out the desserts and the staff in the kitchen had taken the time to create a lovely birthday message for my partner's one. We cannot emphasise how lovely The Gun is, Andrea was superb and all I can say is thank you for making the lunch such a lovely event.

We just celebrated 2 birthdays with Sunday lunch at the Gun. We were a party of 10 with 3 kids under the age of 11 who are active and inpatient! From the minute we arrived the staff were on the ball acknowledging us immediately (taking away 2 birthday cakes for bringing out later with slickness and discretion) We were shown to a long table overlooking the garden and they settled us down and took our initial drinks order calming the initial chaos of family greeting each other . Drinks for the kids arrived swiftly and a bottle of bubbly plus special glasses duly arrived Staff were attentive and leaving us to toast the birthday boy and girl (40 years old !) for a few minutes returned to tease out our food orders. Their patience was exemplary as 10 people who were more Intent on catching up, gave their orders. After a short period the kids meals arrived, followed by the adult meals all hot, looking very appetising. More drinks orders were taken as required and the excellent quality and quantity meals were enjoyed. Special commendation due for the place and bream on the bone The fish skewer and of course the superb roast. The fussy eater kids also are their dishes without a murmur which was unusual. Plates were emptied and duly cleared and with out prompting 2 birthday cakes were presented with full staff choral accompaniment and pre lit. Sunday lunch was absolutely delicous! Great roasts with generous but sensible portions which left room for the really tempting desserts. The service provided by Julia was superb - friendly and helpful and just the right amount of time between each course. This is a lovely, dog-friendly pub and what a great idea it is to offer a Doggy Bowl! We'll definitely be back and so will Finley!

Booked table for family celebration with 9 adults and 4 children. Sat in the conservatory area overlooking large play area for the children. Chose our 3-course meals from selected summer menu which although not extensive was more than satisfactory. Restaurant was busy but our server (charge included in bill) was excellent.

My second time with my 95 year old grandmother who lives close by and loves the Gun as her little outing as a treat and it's a real treat for us too. As an ex-restaurant owner I notice the little things and the Gun has always thought of everything. Good veggie and vegan food, good portion sizes, incredibly clean restaurant tables glasses and crockery, amazing food and impeccable service from everyone, today from Andrea and Julia. We'll be back soon to try the pizza!

What a cozy pub. I been to the Gun with some friends to meet up before Christmas and everything was so lovely. Really enjoyed the fireplace and the kebab. Thank you Julia for your help and for the drinks. Will be back soon with my family .

Visited here with a friend recently and although neither of us could fault the food, the service during our recent visit was not great. We were not offered any table water and despite sitting with empty glasses for quite some time, we were not offered any further drinks throughout the duration of our visit. We were not offered any coffees after our meals and were just presented with the bill. Previous visits have been much better.

Really enjoyed our pre Christmas Sunday lunch. Two roast dinners, lamb and beef with all the usual accompaniments. Also the duck which was especially delicious cooked as we like it, pink. Very friendly welcome from Julia who continued to look after us throughout our lunch. Thank you will be back

Really lovely country pub, great place for couples, friends or family. I went with two friends for xmas dinner, food was wonderful, a decent size and reasonably priced. Julia looked after us, made sure we had our drinks topped up and next courses on their way. She also went out of her way to help my friend too, amazing service. Would highly recommend!

We went to The Gun for a birthday with family and friends and the food was very tasty with a good selection of starters, mains and puddings. The service was really good our waitress was Julia who has served up on previous visits. She is always very helpful and happy. We have always had good experiences when we have eaten here.

A big thank you to Julia for making our luncheon today so enjoyable. Service was fantastic, food was delicious and atmosphere 100%. Will certainly be going back. We arrived at lunchtime and were not pressured to leave - therefore we stayed longer than anticipated- when we left it was dark!!! Only criticism is that the car park is not very well lit and that may be an issue for people dining in the evening. Apart from this everything was superb.
