All good! Lovely service and very kind staff! The food was great. Did not wait too long. It is pricey, but I guess it's just London. With a couple of pounds less on each meal it would be perfect! I recommend the puddings. Wow.

Went here as a group of new mums - it's a family friendly pub with great food at good value and achilled atmosphere.

Fuimos para nuestra comida de Navidad - fue horrible! Se habían quedado sin varias cosas en el menú, que no nos contaron desde el principio, incluido el queso parmesano, así que tuve el ravioli más soso de la historia. El servicio comenzó bien, las chicas eran muy agradables, pero no estaban atentos y tuvimos que seguir pidiéndoles que vinieran a pedir más bebidas (no estaba muy ocupado). Entonces el colmo fue a las 11: 20 pm un joven vino y literalmente nos gritó (sin exagerar) "estamos cerrados ahora que necesita irse" darse cuenta de que se habían llamado las últimas órdenes pero estábamos terminando nuestras bebidas, había una mesa a nuestro lado que todavía tenía pintas llenas, les pregunté por qué no les gritó, eran personal. Si no hubiera pagado ya definitivamente no estaría pagando los 12. Cargo por servicio del 5 %.

Food was delicious served by very pleasant staff. Glad we'd booked, as our table was in an area away from the main throng. The lighting may not have been as pleasing, (a little bright), but at least it was away from the screaming kids. Noise levels in the main body of the area were high.

I've been coming to this pub for Sunday roast for a couple of years. I am not sure what happened but the Sunday roast we were served on 13 October 2024 was absolutely dreadful. Beef was half cooked and it was not possible to chew it. Potatoes were so overcooked that it was impossible to cut them with a knife. Veggies were overcooked and had no salt. My daughter ordered a cheeseburger and it was completely tasteless. We ordered fries and got chunky chips instead. The roast was not touched by our group and when I went to the kitchen to complain, the chef offered chicken instead. I was not prepared to wait for another hour to get another disguising meal. I paid over £100 for this absolutely horrific experience and was not even offered any kind of refund - our plates were clearly still full with that rubbish and I would not be surprised if it may have been reused for someone else. Never going back.

Tuvimos una tarde encantadora en este amplio pub con una encantadora terraza. El servicio de Pablo y su equipo fue excelente, y los verdaderos ales estaban bien mantenidos. La comida era buena, especialmente el entrante de raviolis. Los entrantes veganos eran buenos, aunque la elección vegana de la red principal era bastante limitada. Sin embargo, el curry de langostino y pescado monje era bastante insustancial para un principal, y para el dinero. Si bien apreciamos el buen servicio al cliente, nos quedamos un poco sorprendidos al ver que nos cobraron el servicio por las bebidas llevadas a nuestra mesa. No estropeó la experiencia, pero seremos más prudentes en el futuro.

Ok so I always have The Grove as my go to when friends come to see me. It has a lovely atmosphere and of course great food. I never regret going and pulling my guests with me.

Great location and feel. Very child / family friendly and dog friendly too. A shame about the lack of GF / DF options on a Sunday

Great Sunday roast - reasonable portions and yummy! Would recommend and shall be coming back. Benefit is that it also had the football on!

I booked the Grove for lunch with a friend. On arrival the bar man walked us through the various seating options and we chose a sunny courtyard out the back. The menus were prompt, the drinks and food too. We ordered selection of small plates from the starter & sides choices adm were not disappointed. Everything fresh, interesting and served with a smile. We will return!

Place was empty and no beer on tap. Attitude was no good so left before eating

Very welcoming friendly staff and nice atmosphere but food was average. Had the vegan roast. It was tasty but looked like it had been reheated. The chicken liver profteroles were dry. Shame as otherwise a nice friendly local pub

7 of us dined including 1 kids meal for Saturday lunch. We found the menu quite uninspiring so just had main course and a drink each, plus 3 small sides to share. Most had fish and chips or the burger which were decent albeit some of the fries were very greasy. Seabass portion was quite small albeit nicely cooked. My Abbot ale tasted slightly vinegary and the head was scummy so I decided to leave it half drank. Service was slow and the waiting staff didn’t ask about leftover food (greasy chips) and the beer. Came to almost £200 including service (which was very slow even though it wasn’t busy).

Great pub with a great selection drinks and tasty food. Regularly come here with friends and family as well as work colleagues. Staff are friendly and welcoming, would highly recommend!

We went for Sunday roast. The chicken was tasteless, the vegetables overcooked and the dish was lukewarm at best. We were extremely disappointed and will not return.

My fish and chips were of a very poor standard. 1. The fish was very small approx 40% of the size I'd expect. 2. The tartar sauce had bugger all capers and taste. 3. I just do not understand the cucumber jam.4. The curry sauce was sweet without any zing. I have been to Heston's and Millers in Haxby plus the Golden Chippie and many more of note. This was not one of them. Sorry but 5.75/10 at a push.

Not been here for quite a while and it used to be quite good but the standard this time round was very average. Sunday lunch beef was stringy ,sponge pudding was omitted entirely despite being ordered. Getting the attention of the staff was virtually impossible. All in all a great disappointment.

Wonderful service. Steaks nicely done. Mushroom parfait was not a parfait but tasted nice - although cold and more texture than any parfait. Steamed pudding very nice. Sea bass also looked great and the green Thai curry with cauliflower was delicious.

Food was really good, really recommend the vegan wellington. Pub itself was nice, but unfortunately our table was seated underneath a speaker which was playing music loud to the point that we couldn't hold a conversation. We asked it to be turned down a bit but the staff wouldn't do this. Would maybe come back for a quieter lunch some time

Food disappointing, would not eat there again

A very disappointing Christmas meal! A number of big items on the menu were not available, such as steak! We had to complain about most dishes, especially when the "truffle mac& cheese" turned up as macaroni with butter and A sprinkle of cheese! The vanilla custard was runny, luke warm and lumpy! The staff did respond to our complaints and replaced everything but a very disappointing night for the kitchen team.

We absolutely loved the grove. My work family had a lovely evening. The food was lovely and value for money. However we did not like the dessert. The cheese cake was not sweet at all and the marmalade or jam did not accompany it. I think the dessert needs to be changed. Overall we would definitely go again. Thank you

The best staff! Nothing is ever too much to ask for, they are always super on it and create a fun atmosphere. Great selection of draft beers and food. Shout out to Rosa for being really helpful and accommodating when I booked

Very helpful staff. Asked to slightly turn down music as we are a group of 5 women with compromised hearing. Prompt service, with a smile. All Of us enjoyed our meals. We will definitely return. Thank you all.

Got 3 roast dinners, 1 beef, 1 pork and 1 chicken. Good portions for beef and pork but very small amount of chicken on the bone. Service excellent, table very small for 4 people to eat and drink comfortably. However, I would definitely go again and try at a quieter time and barter for a larger table!!

The pub is a good location next to walpole park but the portions are small for the price you pay especially the sea bass main and pie.

The roast vegetables were cold unfortunately. We have eaten 3 times at the grove in the last 2 months and this is becoming a common theme. It is a beautiful roast but this he’s let it down.

Nice pub, dog friendly, nice customers, nice food. Only criticism reqlly was the aue con was on, but they happily turned it off when we asked - though it came on again few hours later unsure why, which meant we were cold, but were leaving by then. Happily go back! (But in case it's a recurring issue might take a jumper!)

Food was lovely and staff were nice. Unfortunately the aircon was aimed at our table and much too cold.

I was greeted by a tutting waitress (I think she was the manager) because I was standing in her way.. lots of staff walking passed me without greeting me while I stood waiting for my table. The value of the Sunday roasts are very over rated. 2 bits of fatty beef and 3 tiny roast potatoes. One whole carrot and cabbage definitely not worth £20 wish I went up the road and ate somewhere else. I won’t be going back.

I've been to the grove several times with family and friends for Sundsy lunch and can say the food is consistently great, service is always friendly and with a smile.

Rude waiters. Two potatoes on a Roast Dinner? One carrot and a burnt Yorkshire pudding. The blonde woman with short hair is incredibly rude. Awful. Ran out of Chicken at 5pm and didn’t offer any consolation. Incredibly poor.

A beautiful pub with various seating options, the food is exceptional although I think a little pricey for what you get. The staff are friendly and it has a very welcoming atmosphere. We absolutely LOVE The Grove and it is definately a firm favourite.

Would definitely come back, cod and chips and roast chicken were excellent, however the roast pork was disappointing, the serving of pork was small and it was hard.

Unfortunately we came at the tail end of a busy Mother’s Day which probably meant the kitchens were a bit depleted and chefs tired. That said, more could have been done to manage expectations about waiting times and steer customers to order the excellent Sundays roasts that were readily available. The Sunday roast option was excellent - chicken was moist and good yorkshires and accompaniments. Should have stuck with that! The fish portion was small and overcooked, the burger was over cooked with a bone marrow crumb that didn’t work on any level. The staff were lovely but unable to help with the waiting times. I probably wouldn’t rush to come back or just for the tried and tested Sunday roasts.

Best Sunday roast I have had in years: beef just the right ‘blush’, roasties and yorkie properly crisp and other veg’ had been treated with ‘respect’. Chicken and vegan wellington also wolfed down. The parfait for dessert was something else. (Pity the cauliflower cheese side was off though).

We were really disappointed at the fact that we were refused our 50% discount after signing up to the mailing list and not receiving a discount code. We questioned this and were met with a blunt refusal initially but thankfully had one item removed from the bill. The crisps to nibble on are over priced and not worth the money. Both burgers were served warm and not hot. We didn't complain due to the social dynamic of the group and the fact that we were celebrating. However, this was an ultimately disappointing experience and we quickly moved on rather than staying like we had intended for further drinks.

The service was friendly, we could take our dog with us provided we ate in the bar area (and not the dining room), which is where we wanted to be, anyway, because we prefer the informality of it, and the football was showing on the tv screens. Good atmosphere, got increasingly busy but the tables are not on top of each other, so it didn't feel cramped and we didn't feel rushed, either. Just a good, relaxed, easy-going place to meet up. Will definitely go again.

We received a call at 3:45 to confirm our reservation at 4:30 and told they had run out of roars beef but had pork and 2 portions of roast chicken. We were happy to have pork so went ahead with our reservation. On arrival had to wait ages to be seated in a bit very busy restaurant. The lady that served us, confirmed we wanted roast pork and went off and got our drinks. She assumed we just wanted the main until I called her to order our starter. Oh she said. She assumed we weren’t having a starter. We were not asked if we wanted any sides with the lunch or cauliflower cheese. We were not Good starter. 45 minute wait for main course. Bad Sunday lunch. Extremely salty congealed gravy, meagre vegetables, less than a dessert spoon of cabbage, I black tasteless carrot. I asked about cauliflower cheese and was told it would take 10 minutes. It’s extra but we weren’t given the opportunity to order because the roast dinner had already been put through to the kitchen before we were asked if we wanted a starter. Service was terrible. No care. Service was dreadful and we won’t be going back. The bar staff are great.

Booked and was advised bar seating only. Turned up and the restaurant was empty and remained empty for the duration of our meal. Great food and service but zero ambiance. Madness that the online booking system is preventing more people from enjoying this place.

For bookings during sporting events televised, please ensure there's an option for customer to select to book a table for the game or not. Don't assume everyone booking during event would know to book a table near the TV screen. There was no prompt on my booking but after discussion and a cancellation we were offered a table near the TV.

went for a roast, it was very much the staff would only see you when they are ready to see you so needed some prompting for service but they were quick with ordering, quick to table and nice wines. We came for a roast end of day so it was overdone from the heat lamps but you got to expect that. Good roast potatoes though. I'll go again as its a simple crowded pleaser

Pub was nicely done up for Christmas. Food was good. Service was a bit slow - I think they were understaffed possibly. They were really nice and offered to take service charge ( obviously I didn’t do that ! )
