Lovely pub, it feels full of history. Beautiful setting with gorgeous views. We have been twice now and both visits have been outstanding. First visit we sat in the window by the bar which gave us a lovely view. Second visit we sat in one of the snug rooms opposite the bar. The food is home cooked and tasty with good portion sizes. Both visits we have really enjoyed our meals and have tried the fried chicken burger , Thai vegetable curry, and meals from the specials board (cheesy vegetable bake and half roast chicken). The cheesy garlic bread is also very good . Staff are friendly and attentive. The pub has been busy both times we visited which is testament to it's obviously good reputation. Thank you!

Lovely meals. Generous portions. Very reasonable prices. Staff very friendly, accommodating, attentive, and helpful. Inside of pub nice and clean and outside eating area looks great for dining when the weather allows, with beautiful views. We live close but hadn’t been as a family before. We are sure to visit again soon.

Good food. Very good views. BUT The Service is below average. Few nice waiters but one lady was not nice ( no smiles). 40 minutes after I ordered food ( and paid), I was told that one main dish was NOT available. NO apologies. We had to wait one hour to get the food.

We visited here due to the positive reviews regarding the food. The table which was reserved for us was in front of the bar and near the door, which was very uncomfortable as anyone going to the bar brushed past us or stood with their backsides facing us, which wasn’t a pretty sight in some instances. Food was served in record time. We had the lasagna, the top of which looked like it had been subjected to some nuclear blast! It didn’t get much better when we started to eat it, bland watery tasteless slop. Overall a bitterly disappointing experience.

A hidden gem, stunning view and great food. We stumbled upon the pub and initially only stopped for a pint. The food looked amazing and so we ordered food. It was a Friday night and very busy we waited over an hour for food. Well worth it with time to sit and watch the sun go down over the river.

Found this amazing place a couple of years ago - originally came to the pub for drink whilst visiting the area looking at the lovely view… nice drink watch g the world go by, and then I noticed they served food. We tried the food and had no real expectations to be honest - expected average pub grade food / value .. but when the food came and saw the presentation and then tasted … Wow!! We have tried Chicken and Leek pie, Steak pie, Chicken Curry .. all amazingly presented and real fresh cooked amazing flavours and tastes and not the usual mass produced food! We have been several times since, including August 2024 - and again it was amazing .. I can see why the pub is always busy! Fantastic scenery, service and food .. what more can you ask for?? We can’t wait for an excuse to come back!

Food was lovely as was most of the staff, the issue was they got our order wrong and yes mistakes happen but it's how they are dealt with that matters . When we pointed out we had no toast potatoes in our roast dinner was told well that's what you ordered ? We explained it wasn't what we ordered we ordered a roast with mash and roast potatoes instead of new potatoes and if that was not possible then just roast potatoes, the waitress said I will check with kitchen and come back to you , she didn't come back to us. The serving waitress came back and said we will cook you some roast potatoes but will charge you ? We said but this was not our error a roast dinner without roast potatoes is not a roast, she replied with well I didn't take your order and that's what it says on the order ? I ask for mint sauce we got a tablespoon to share between three of us. Then came the roast potatoes, 4 roast potatoes between 3 adults, (work that out ) no apology offered, very disappointed in the very poor customer services as if the issue was handled correctly this would be a completely different review. as no fault with the food but the experience tainted our lunch.

Looked around for a table which we found ( No reserved sign on table) just got ready to order when a member of staff told us it's a reserved table in a abrupt manner. We felt very embarrassed as other people looked on and spoilt our day.

This is a lovely little pub in a beautiful location. It’s also very dog friendly which is important for us, and the staff are great. This was our third visit and we will certainly be back when in the area. I ordered the curry special which was £15 for a Madras and pint. The Madras lacked a little in heat, not a complaint, just a personal thing, but it was very tasty and plentiful. I didn’t check my bill until I got home, and found that I had been charged the £15 for a curry and a pint, plus another £4.50 for the pint . They were very busy though and it was an easy mistake to make, so no worries. We will definitely be back because it’s a great place for a meal.

What a lovely pub with delicious home cooked food, we dropped in here for lunch and were not disappointed, great friendly staff and excellent food, we were told about this by a friend and can highly recommend this place if you are in the area. We visited mid week and the weather wasn't the best and I can imagine that it will be really busy when the weather improves and you can have the benefit of eating al fresco with stunning views over the river that is literally a stones throw away. Even saying that it was still well attended in overcast showery conditions a testament to the quality of the food and drink on offer, the service was very good and we only waited a few minutes for the food to arrive, I certainly enjoy my food and I had the Beef and ale pie while my wife had the lasagne both highly recommended, there is a good selection of dishes to choose from and we will certainly be returning in the future.

We have had a number of meals here so at the end of a day visiting we elected to have a meal at the Grouse. On entering ( 4.45 ) it was crowded with mainly drinkers. We were offered a table in "the dark room" -- it has light bulbs giving off a dim orange glow ( on our past visits we have avoided this room ) glad to say when viewing the menu we were able to use the light on our phone......... Ordered whitebait for starter with two steaks ( well done ) for main course. After a while a young lady came to our table with-- two steak dinners ! on enquiring as to the whitebait starter She returned to the kitchen to check. Seems my order never made it to the kitchen ( i ordered at the bar ) We started to eat & when i got to the steak it was--- rare..... We finished the meal & left, seems our request for well done steaks never made it to the kitchen ether........

Fresh home made bread, locally produced ham and the best chips that I've had in a long time. The staff were cheerful and courteous and didn't pressurise us. The cost of the meal was very reasonable. I ordered the chicken and leak pie with chips and Veg. The pie eas supposed to be in a shortcrust pastry but came out in a little ceramic dish with just an anaemic puff pastry top which to me isn't a pie but just cheating. Chips were fine but veg was a tiny portion. My husband had the steak and mash which was £20 and he was really disappointed, dry tastless and again a really small amount of veg. We sat outside at the eating area and loads of people were smoking at thier tables whilst we were eating which was really gross. The staff were great but the food looks nothing like the pictures and was very basic for the price. Location was stunning

We regularly have used the Grouse Inn as a lunchtime stop on our trips to the Welsh coast. Always been served good, honest pub food at a reasonable price and the view from the terrace is unbeatable. However our visit last month was so disappointing. It was a hot June day and unusually, the terrace was very quiet We had booked a table, were welcomed by a staff member who said they would bring us a menu. 15 minutes later, we were still waiting, so i collected the menus from inside myself. Because there were no salads or light options available we both chose salmon from the gluten free menu. Again we had to wait ages before we were served a small salmon fillet with four new potatoes. These were in the skins, normally ok with me, but they didn't even have the eyes or blemishes cleaned. Worst of all, they had been boiled to the extent that they were shrivelled. The salmon fillet was small, with no sauce accompaniment and a small portion of mixed veg. At £16 a head it was not the cheapest, but had we been served a decent meal, we'd have been happy. i know we should have sent the food back, but with over two hours journey still to go, that was not an option. When I spoke to the staff inside they were all youngsters. We have fond memories of eating fresh trout and salad and delicious Sunday roast Welsh lamb at the Grouse. I'm sorry to leave such a negative review but clearly something went wrong on the day and sadly, I don't think we would go back.

Ordered 4 meals all awful, chicken burger was an over fried piece of chicken on a bun no salad or sauce must of been the worst I’d ever seen. Pitched up here with Sandra having driven the Mustang with hood down all the way on a wonderfully hot afternoon. After a brief walk along the banks of the Dee we walked up to The Grouse for a few beers and a meal. Unfortunately local mums had reserved all the tables on the veranda overlooking the river for a birthday celebration so it was death by screaming kids. We retreated inside and enjoyed the finest bar meals we have had in recent years. We visited on Thursday 3 june.We had booked a table overlooking the river for 6:30. On arrival that table was occupied so we had to wait for 15 minutes another to become available. Plenty of food choices available but very low quality.Curry was a typical school watery curry and my steak OK. The garlic bread was delicious!! The food took over a hour to arrive. It was clear that the waiting staff were very inexperienced bar one lady who was working her socks off and therefore getting the brunt of everyone complaints regarding waiting etc. She was running around doing the job of 6 while 3 members of staff took out a birthday cake!! Kudos to her.We were about to leave after waiting around 20 minutes for our second round of drinks but they arrived as we got up.We didn't complain about the wait as we weren't in a rush as such but we did feel that it could be managed much more efficiently and the food could be of a higher standard.Very expensive for what it was.

We enjoyed the food - good pub fare - and would definitely recommend and would visit again if we were in area. Thank you to all the staff for a lovely experience.

Great Locations, superb food. One disappointment though - called them day before to reserve the table on the terrace specifying that would like to have the river side view. On arrival we were say down on the other side... pitty would probably come back but this was not great experience. Service also a bit slow:(

A group of six of us visited here while we were on holiday in wales, such a lovely setting and great views from the outdoor seating area. Food was delicious and reasonably priced, lots of choice of alcohol - especially gins. Very friendly staff, our waiter was very kind and accommodating! Would definitely go back 10/10 :)

All I can say is give this place a very wide birth Our experience here was really awful with the inexperienced untrained waiting staff We arrived sat down and waited and waited for a member of staff to arrive to take our order she came we ordered one americano coffee and one rose wine again we waited the order arrived when it did the coffee was instant coffee as there were still granules of it on the tea spoon and no Milk so we waited for a member of staff to come outside (they were only serving outside due to covid restrictions)and we would ask for milk In the end after waiting for 15 minutes I went in and asked for milk all the staff were just sitting by the bar chatting We were going to have a meal but we gave up paid the bill (which considering the coffee was instant was very very expensive) And we just left can I just add there was only one other table of people outside (it was mid afternoon)so it wasn’t busy at all A huge disappointment

Superb, brilliant, gorgeous, friendly, covid safe, scummy and more...First time I've gone to a pub wearing loads of winter warmth layers, beanie hat and uber warm Muck boot wellies! All very much needed as meal was outside only due to covid restrictions. Sat on the terrace, under covers, looking over the river whilst the sun set on the mountains. Service was friendly, efficient & attentive.Shared starters of red potato fries - big portion, well cooked & delicious.Mains: a special of Beef Madras with rice - rich, spicy and very tender beef, house chicken curry with rice - moist, tender chicken and another cracking sauce.Puddings of: sticky toffee pud & vanilla ice cream - superb sauce, soft sponge & flavoursome ice cream. Plus bread & butter pud with custard - seriously great, reminded me of school days, but this was way better.Overall - faultless and well worth a visit - we will be back

What a fabulous place and great service!! Stopped for after a brief visit to take my recently bereaved Father In Law out for a treat. The staff were so welcoming and warm. Both my hubby and Father in Law had the lamb stew I the lasagna. Fabulous home cooked meals. Can’t wait to visit. Again Thank you

Great lunch with my dog today .... simple pub menu, well cooked, decent portions. A decent pint of beer and water for my dog. Really welcoming team (Covid appropriate measures) and a very pleasant ambiance in the various rooms in the pub and on the outdoor deck. Beautiful views too.Why haven’t I stopped here before!, passed the sign and turning to the village for years - will go back before Christmas on my next trip to Conway.Thank you ...

Had a lovely meal here - sat outside looking over at the river. Had a one way system in place and hand sanitiser available, Table was cleaned prior to us sitting down. We had chicken and leak pie and the special grouse chicken curry - we both couldn’t fault the food which was delicious. Definitely will go back and looking forward to tasting other meals off the menu

We called in on spec just before 1300hrs and requested a table, but none available until 1500hrs. No problem for us so we went away and returned about 5 to 10 minutes before out allocated booked table time.Shock Horror, they had given our table for 4 away! We waited a further 25 minutes after our allocated time and eventually we got a table.Well we waited and waited and 25 minutes later we managed to order. BY this time we were hungry and very thirsty. Our drinks came by a waitress NOT wearing a face mask and she lifted our drinks from the tray to the table. We did expect to be able to lift the drinks ourselves! As this was the first time my wife and myself had dared to eat out as we have been Covid sheltering due to our age, we were far from happy. Our Daughters meal was far from satisfactory as her choice of vegetarian spag bol was swilling in very thin watery sauce. The other three meals were OK, nothing special, but quite acceptable.Anyway, the outside terrace had a very nice view overlooking the river, but the service was well below par and NOT very safe in Covid days! This was Saturday 19th September

Just dropped in for a drink and was kept waiting outside to go through Covid protocols. Fine with that but Took ages with staff acknowledging we were there but did not come over to us for ages. Had one drink and left after hearing the waitress take a booking call and being quite strident. Limited menu and poor beer choice

Brilliant to see a pub managing covid regulations really well. Very well organised, easy to view menu upon scanning the QR code. Friendly staff, tasty food, good portions, well presented & great views. Couldn't ask for more! There were 9 of us (2 families) spread over 2 tables & the place was busy, but food arrived in a reasonable time. As it was a Sun evening they'd had a busy day & a few things were sold out but that was no problem because they told us right at the beginning rather than some places that wait until you order which is frustration. Well done! Great food & great location!

First time visiting and we had a fantastic afternoon tea - absolutely delicious! The service was absolutely excellent and the staff were brilliant with catering for children. Nothing was too much trouble! We were so impressed with our experience and will be back. I didn’t get her name unfortunately, but the blonde waitress who served us the most was absolutely lovely and we can’t thank her enough for making us feel so welcome and looking after us. Thank you!!

I visit here quite regular. They do so many choices and it's so tasty. Made to tour choice and they are a very reasonable price. Would never go to another sandwich bar. My personal favourite is Chinese chicken.

This is now called Boba Geeks Cafe. We went in expecting the usually greasy cafe food with frozen chips . We were pleasantly surprised. Home made chips with sausage, egg and beans all cooked to perfection. The chef uses all fresh ingredients in all his food and does a traditional roast on a Sunday. We paid £21 for 3 meals and 3 drinks which I thought was a real bargain.
