Had lunch here, the food was very good. My wife's fish was perfectly cooked and my venison, with lentils, was equally as good. Served with complimentary bread with olive oil. Excellent selection of wines by the glass. The place is very traditional, so much the better, and the staff friendly and efficient. We will be back.

Kirstie and her team do a great job of making guests feel welcome and at home; everyone is very helpful and friendly. The Kitchen crew serve excellent food: all fresh and all home-made. Rooms are clean and comfortable; bathrooms are english (dribbly shower), but toiletries, towels and linen all excellent. Want quality? You'll get it here.

I’ve not even checked out yet and I love it. It was a last minute booking for one night while on a working trip. Lovely old building in a lovely town- nice warm welcome, and fast check in. The staff I’ve met so far are cool. But as ever it’s the little things- actual mugs in the room for tea and coffee, smart TV, fresh milk instead of the awful uht things. Decent music in the dining room- thank God! Food is fab- I’d eat a whole plate of the rarebit croquettes. Putting the Grosvenor on my Google hotel map as I’ll definitely stay here again on my travels. Top marks

A lovely location and great outdoor area. The Sunday lunch was good although nothing special and there is no children’s menu. Something we noticed a selection of other guests queried. The main menu is limited for young children and to be offered a smaller roast for £1 less seemed unreasonable given they are £22. This aside the service was very good.

The Grosvenor Arms is fast becoming one of our favourite places to eat. We had supper there last night - pork belly and the steak and ale pie, and both were delicious! The pies were the real deal - hearty in flavour and substance, a real handmade treat. The pork belly was also generous size-wise, and delicious. What stood out for us, however, was the warm and attentive service. We can’t recommend the Grosvenor Arms enough - thanks for a wonderful meal and a great atmosphere. We’ll be back soon! Alas, my experience was not good. A very intransigent sales manger would not alter/postpone/refund our booking despite a major accident befalling me a week before our planned 2 night stay. So, with broken ribs and great discomfort we made the trip Most hotels would be more sympathetic and pragmatic than this Despite polite attention there was plenty about which to complain including a noisy, poorly ventilated bedroom which, surprisingly, was not made up on our days there The only stairs were very steep and ill lit- most unsuitable for older people There was no immediate car park Attention at breakfast was sparse Dinner and drinks were expensive Subsequently, following my review, I received the most aggressive of correspondence from the Managing Director of The Chickpea Group of Inns, an amalgamation of Wiltshire based inns We would not stay here again or at any of the other inns within the group You will appreciate from the Managing Director's reply how aggressive he is. His facts are wrong, we were never rude to his staff and every criticism was absolutely accurate and irrefutable Surely at a decent hotel one would expect the bedroom to be "made up" on each day? That's just one of several complaints If, supposedly, his staff were disquieted (for which I'd very much like to hear the proof) it is a pity that he didn't give his ill-gotten gains to them instead of some charity I doubt, with such an attitude, his business will flourish The Managing Director has failed to tell me of any one incident when we were supposedly rude, nor has he told me what charity he used and how much he donated I even phoned the hotel in search of the inferences of rudeness. The staff could no such events

This is one of our favourite places to eat. Food is consistently excellent even when they're exceptionally busy such as Mothers Day. Sunday lunch - roast beef, Yorkshire pudding and vegetables - simply the best I've tasted in many years. Service - staff are always charming and efficient. Atmosphere - book early and aim for somewhere near the bar to get the best, in Winter near the fire is my preference but it's near the doors to outside so you have to be willing to accept the accompanying draft when people arrive or leave.

An independent pub chain that takes coffee and customers experience seriously. While visiting family in Wiltshire I stayed at 2 of the Chickpea pubs. The first was the Grosvenor Arms. Warmly greeted, drink in hand. Then up to my room. Absolutely spotless, fresh homemade cookies, big bed, BBC4 music hour on. Bliss. The coffee station was filled with their own ground coffee, a french press and fresh milk. No cheap sachets here. Which after the best night's sleep, was the perfect start to my day. I dined here in the evening - the wine and steak would be hard to beat. Breakfast was also fantastic - opting for Eggs Benny (Benedict) perfection! The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and made me as a solo traveller, feel right at home. Without a doubt I will return.

This is a great pub with a good menu, and traditional gastro meals, but also some surprises, which are all good. The Menu is well priced and the drinks selection is fine as well. There is a discretionary service charge which is a little steep, which I would expect more from a three rosette restaurant, but obviously you can remove this if you want to, and this shouldn't detract you from visiting.

This would be a 5 star rating - nice food, lovely waitress, drinks were very slow being served so a nice place to celebrate my son’s 16th birthday. I had bought a cake to celebrate. We were informed they charge CAKEAGE! It would cost us £15 to have this cake. I took the unused cake home. How sad is that 😞. Our bill was just over £200. How MEAN is that? Shocking really. So don’t celebrate your birthday here if you want to take a cake!!

My wife and I went to Wincanton Races. The weather was awful and the drive home was daunting. We looked for a room and booked a room with breakfast at the Grovenor Arms in Hindon. We have always had good food at the Grosvenor Arms so we decided to go there for Easter Sunday Lunch. Sadly the meal failed to live up to expectations. Things got off to a bad start when we were served dry/ stale bread with the olive oil appetizer. I told the waitress and she said she would tell someone. We heard nothing more. I had the roast beef main course which proved to be very tough and sinewy, again I told the waitress when she asked how things were. Yet again she said she would tell someone. We heard nothing more. We paid the bill which was not cheap and left. We have always recommended the Grosvenor in the past but we won't in the future and it will be a long while before we return and risk another disappointing meal.

I always hesitate to leave glowing reviews to establishments that are beyond normal expectations as the secret will be out.....and I may not find a vacancy next time passing through; and there will be a next time. Very convenient motoring up country from Cornwall I stayed one night midweek dined and breakfasted. Everything was perfect, this is not your impersonal micro plastic pot of UHT style of place. Top quality tea and excellent coffee pleased this very fussy old bloke. The food was excellent. Beyond the practical details however, what really makes a traveller feel welcome is the personal touch. My hostess courteously escorted this pensioner to his room after offering to help with my luggage and the waitstaff were exceptionally attentive. I found the people working here to be personally engaging and professionally discrete. The frontage afforded space to park my motorcycle which i could keep an eye on from my window. The Grosvenor is a Jewel, but shush! don't tell everyone.

Our first visit, food and service very good, the only negative for our lower stars was the owner/manager did not in anyway control a VERY rude and noisy table who were swearing throughout the evening, and we told the management about this and left quickly. I have no doubt this table spoilt it for others too, and sadly, we doubt we would return because it's down to the owner to control their business which we don't think they are capable of doing this.
