The Grill at The Dorchester in City of London, Westminster

My husband and I visited The Grill by Tom Booton for lunch for the first time. Our experience at this restaurant was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived until we left, we felt welcomed and pampered by the food and the service. We appreciate Mattia Marcelli the general manager who went out of his way to make sure that we enjoyed our time there and also the team for putting together such a good experience. We were given a tour of the restaurant and the premises, nothing like what we have experienced before. The attention to detail and commitment to guest service set it apart from the rest.This restaurant exceeded all my expectations. You do not often find a place where every element comes together so perfectly. I’ll be recommending it to all my friends and family. I’m already looking forward to my next visit. I highly recommend it!

10/10 for the Sunday Roast, exceptional service and an excellent meal with some outstanding little twists to the usual fare.

Really nice place good food fast service

Service was initially friendly and attentive but took the waiter 3 attempts to get me the right menu. I ordered the set lunch menu. The starter pork jowl was a tiny piece of pork with a lot of fat, I didn't enjoy it. The main of skate wing was good. The dessert of teacle tart was also good.

Among the best, definitely top 5 amongst the Sunday Roast Premier League. Great service and some pleasant twists to the usual fare. Thank you.

We thought the food was absolutely lovely. The starters were exceptional. The mains were beautifully done, hard to imagine what something is going to be like when reading the the descriptions, but when they were served they showed skill and balance. Service amazing without being fussily intrusive. A great lunch. We look forward to our next visit.

Had a wonderful birthday lunch at the Grill after a last minute decision where to celebrate. The ambience and decor is old school but so warm and relaxing . Staff extremely attentive and friendly with lovely wine recommendation to match our food selection as a very extensive wine list . Set lunch menu was good value and had a birthday extra dessert which was a lovely surprise Thank you for lovely and delicious lunch! Husband still talking about the best ever chicken pie!

The whole team could not have been more welcoming. Warm, friendly and made my birthday one to remember. Every dish was cooked to perfection, the flavours were divine and each wine complimented the dishes perfectly. I will definitely be returning to The Grill very soon. Thank you to all of the chefs, sommeliers and front of house team.

Excellent food and service in a beautiful setting at the historic Dorchester Hotel

Enjoyed the evening here as it was my wife's birthday. The tram made a special effort in making her happy. Leonardo looked after us and was very polite so was the young waitress. Food was good value and was good portion.

Beautiful restaurant for my birthday dinner with family. The restaurant was a lot smaller and brighter than expected. I’d say more suited for lunch. There was enough choice on the menu and we all chose delicious starters I was looking forward to the chicken to share. Carved at the table. The experience was nice but nothing special. Left without feeling anything wow or that I’d want to return. Great food and wine, just was ok!

This place is truly special!! We dined in The Grill by Tom Booton and were very well looked after by Matteo, Sophie, Charlotte, and the team. They were all so knowledgeable and passionate, the service was impeccable. Everyone created a warm, friendly environment with a touch of class and style. We loved the sharing style concept and every dish that came out the kitchen was creative, innovative and delicious. It also doesn’t seem easy to find the perfect wine pairing for such a varied menu however Matteo did a flawless job! Thank you again for a memorable experience.

Abandon any prejudice you have (and I certainly did have) against hotel restaurants. The Grill has just provided one of the top dining experiences of my life. First, the venue - just a stunning room off the breathtaking lobby in the Dorchester. Second the service. It would have been so easy to have stiff, sterile and formal service - but that's not how they roll. It is immaculate service but done with personality, warmth and informality (they joked that they would wrap up the single remaining chip for us to take out!). All of the waiting staff genuinely engaged with us, picking up on the chat around the table, and making us feel that we were amongst friends. Third the wine. Yes, of course you can go mad, but you dont have to. I asked the sommelier to suggest whites that she felt tended to be overlooked. We took both her recommendations - the first of which was a fabulous 2013 Savennieres chenin that lists at £80 and should be easily double that. Finally, the food. Wow. So much to rave about. Cod doughnuts, chicken liver parfait and fried shimeji mushrooms - all stunning. N'duja scotch egg was extraordinary, but it was the take on moules mariniere which blew us away. No messing around with shells but instead an intensely flavoured and texturally structured dish that had us all wanting more. Main courses were equally high quality and you haven't lived until you have had Grill chips. But the abiding memory was of how warm, natural and engaging all of the service team was. Bravo, and thank you.

Visited with friends. We had a fantastic time at The Grill and enjoyed the new sharing concept. Food was flavourful and creative (my personal favs were the lamb skewers and the ribeye). Service was top notch and the staff tended to all of our needs and wants, including cocktails, wine pairing and special dietary requirements for my pregnant friend. Tour of the kitchens and chefs table where all the magic happens was the cherry on the cake. Thanks to mattia, matteo, leo, Mary and all of the team who made this experience one that we will not forget!

Hello guys! Here I am 🤗 have to admit bit sleepy, but hey happy to talk about my food! Let me start with absolutely one of the best dining experiences and customer service I have received lately! I truly believe that this is one of the most important factors in regards to any dining experience. The point is you want to feel welcomed and leave that place with a smile on your face and wish to come back again soon! The manager was beyond helpful and it made us feel we were like family! He even took us on a kitchen tour, and I was so pleasantly surprised and impressed! Being a foodie and someone who loves cooking, I truly appreciated it! So thank you for that! Also thank you to a lovely bartender who came to greet us and offered a fantastic limoncello! Grazie! Now about the food. I enjoyed so much crispy semolina with Gouda cheese and salami on top! Delicious! Must try. Fried Shimeji Mushrooms were ok. Need some improvement in the batter and less fried. Lamb skewers were good. The grilled monkfish with lingonberries was amazing. Tender, juicy and done perfectly! Bravo Chef! Also, Cornish Plaice with anchovies and warm tartar sauce was so tasty and light. The fried anchovy was so good, (and I am someone who doesn’t love anchovies) but this one was so wonderful! Next was the double fried chips and I enjoyed them so much. Crispy and soft inside. Of course I always have space for something sweet 😂 the fig tarte tatin with fig leaf soft serve was so nicely done and super tasty. I personally adore figs and they were so delicious. Almost forgot my lobster Cesar salad, it was lovely and I am so picky with my lobster. It was fresh and light and properly cooked. You will love it! Cheers to all foodies!🙏

Need more stars ! The Dorchester is new to me. The grill is staged in the opulence of the Dorchester a scale of grandeur I’m not familiar with. Sat and felt slightly intimidated, an occasions i tried to remember appropriate table manners once taught and long forgotten from my parents. We ordered , the food arrived and nothing mattered the surroundings where irrelevant. Who ever baked the breads should be sainted ( I later found out it Josh the Sous ) Layered brioche and a round of Milk bread resembling a cloud. The snacks starters and mains we clearly made with passion , technique and absolute commitment from team headed by Tom Booton It was not a meal it was an experience that surpasses any notion of what was charged. So good I almost cried. ( almost )

Amazing food, I had lamb as main course and I have to say that it's the best lamb in London! The service is also great, thank you so much for this lovely lunch.

An excellent lunch inside the iconic Dorchester hotel. professional and polite service with a friendly touch. Mattia was excellent! The three course lunch menu hit all the spots. Mr Koffman's squid Bolognese stands out in my eyes. Impressive wine list and the tour of behind the scenes really helps you appreciate what goes out to make the Dorchester and its eateries as successful as they are. Grazie mille

Food was very salty and Drinks were cold, also didn't Even ask if wanted water and kept topping up to of course charge.

Highly recommended!! We had a lovely dinner, every dishes was done to perfection, from snack, small plates to the main course. I would say it serves one of the best steak in London!. The fig tarte tatin was absolutely divine! Mateo and his team was professional, caring and made our evening hugely enjoyable! I am already planning my next visit!

Incredible experience at the Grill by Tom Booton! Couldn't recommend it enough. The new menu is great - definitely worth trying a few bits from the snack menu, which were all very tasty! The service was extremely attentive and we loved that the chef, Tom came out to explain a few of the dishes. We will be back!

The Grill by Tom Booton I’ve been wanting to visit the Grill for quite a while now and on tuesday it finally happened. I could easily complete this review by using one word WOW but it would be an injustice to the amazing lunch we had to celebrate my birthday. The food was exceptional , the service was excellent so I can’t thank Tom and his team enough. The restaurant has a fabulous location in the heart of the Dorchester Hotel. We enjoyed a pre lunch cocktail at the Artist’s Bar before making our way to the restaurant. Our welcome was very friendly as we were escorted to our table. Firstly though they had kindly arranged for us to sit at the counter to enjoy a fantastic selection of snacks and a complimentary glass of champagne. We had the privilege of seeing the chefs prepare and then serve them before our very eyes. The snacks including oysters , brioche with chicken liver parfait , fried shimeji with mushroom xo sauce , lamb belly and a couple of charcuterie dishes. They were all amazing and I just wish I could remember each of them in a bit more detail so please forgive me. We then moved to our table for the rest of the afternoon. The menu starts with small plates followed by large sharing plates , main courses , sides and puddings. First to arrive was some heavenly Bread to tear and share. We then ordered four dishes from the small plates to start. These were the Lobster and Cheese Tartlet with isle of wight tomatoes , courgette and optional caviar , Squid Bolognaise a la Koffman and basil , Crispy Pig , bbq coleslaw , nduja and the Caesar Salad with smoked sardines. Now it was time for the mains. Here we opted for the Middle White Pork (for two) with mirabelle plum and black pudding sauce and Tom’s famous All the Chicken (for 2 - 4 people) that included a whole chicken a wing and a pie. For the sides we chose the Grill’s Mashed Potato with coastal cheese and crispy onions , buttered runner beans , bbq leeks with ricotta , hazelnuts , pistou. We were also given the Ratatouille tart fine with basil a complementary gesture from the team. To say this was a magical feast would be an understatement. Now it was time for desserts and Tom decided to send out a selection of four from the menu. They were the Chocolate soft serve with cookies , marshmallow and fudge , banana and chocolate cheesecake with crispy pecans , waterloo cheese ‘pastel de nata’ with english relish and last but not least an amazing fig tarte tatin with fig leaf soft serve and roasted vanilla chantilly (2 - 4 people). Once desserts were finished Tom came over for a chat and asked if we’d like a tour of the kitchen and believe me when he said tour he wasn’t joking. You go down by an escalator and then it’s just kitchen after kitchen with each one designed for different culinary delights ie restaurant , afternoon tea and room service it really was amazing to see. We then headed back to our table for tea , coffee and cocktails to round of the most exquisite dining experience. As I said at the beginning I can’t thank Tom and his team enough for their amazing hospitality. The food and service was amazing so if you haven’t put this place on your list yet then I would highly recommend doing so. Thank You Tom and all your team for a truly outstanding dining experience and look forward to seeing you all again soon.

We went to the Grill for Sunday lunch and the whole experience was outstanding, from the moment we arrived the customer service was amazing. The Dorchester reception and bars are stunning and rhewarmth and friendliness of the staff is second to none. The Sunday lunch was beautiful and the service exceptional.

Life is busy right, its hard to find the time for what one could regard as trivial endeavours, such as writing a review. what do you get out of it anyway? Well you could I suppose take some pleasure in giving credit where its due, where it has been earned. That's why I decided to write this review after years of abstaining from any writing whatsoever on trip advisor. I thoroughly recommend a visit if you are in town. I cannot recommend enough how much you should visit in fact. We had an early lunch here on Friday as a couple and what a lunch it was! The team here have every right to feel incredibly proud of their achievements. I love what they are doing here at this exceptional restaurant within this amazing hotel. It feels just right, and it just feels right. A brilliant blend of liberal yet conservative dining, of detailed technical cookery and of unfussy simplicity, of respect for the classic ways, and of courage to assert the contemporary too. no easy task this incidentally! We had travelled down from Scotland for a few days and this joint was on our hotlist for sure. I imagined it would be very good, it exceeded expectation. Here is a chef who has his philosophy sorted, and who has his suppliers sorted, and who has his team sorted. The service is smooth, friendly, sharp and knowledgeable. The vibe is confident and cool. We drank champagne & ate some snacks; cute morsels of sardines with summery red pesto, crisp gem & a nicely mellowed pokey chilli hit, some exceptionally delicious fried clusters of shimeji shrooms with a big hitting xo mayonnaise. off to a good start then! We had mackerel with buttermilk and cucumber which had a vibrant appearance and was acidulated to perfection , and a baked onion with cheese and bacon, who's flavours were reminiscent of an umami rich French onion soup but without requiring medical attention for a burnt chin and a dry cleaning bill for my favourite blue shirt. what a hit. We enjoyed a Pouilly-Fume and shared a roast chicken which was a complete joy, likely the best I've eaten in my life, (and I'm fairly old man who has eaten his fair share or roast chicken!) We were stuffed so decided to share a dessert, the restaurant were having none of it, knowing it was my birthday so sent forth some extra bits to fatten us right up, all of which were absolutely unnecessary and absolutely delicious. Thanks so much to all those who looked after us during this memorable meal, thanks also for the tour and for the seamless transition to a quiet table on the rooftop terrace for just one more, we had a blast!

Really great attentive service. Beautiful place. Good food, but I expected more and expected better, especially considering the somewhat hefty pricing. Don't come at me. Nothing was wrong, I just had higher expectations.

Had a fantastic breakfast experience at The Grill! Every bite was pure magic. The double baked croissant and the raspberry custard cream pastry were heavenly. Tom's Bacon & Cheesy Sauce was the perfect combination of sweet and salty, and the white pudding and omelette were soft and creamy. I'm still dreaming about the cookie. The staff are the true stars, and treated us with such warmth and great tips on each meal. The head chef, Tom, came out to chat with us, explaining more about the ingredients, menu creation process, and the history of the restaurant and hotel, which made the meal even more special. The friendly atmosphere and stylish decor create a welcoming ambiance that makes you feel right at home. If you're seeking a breakfast experience that will make your taste buds and friends/family happy, The Grill is the place to be.

Le grill du Dorchester nous a régalé : un bœuf avec des pommes de terre en triple cuisson au top après quelques entrées parfaites : langoustine snackee au feu de bois préparée devant vous et d’autres régalades et flacons. À côté il y a de plus la pâtisserie du Dorchester ou la forêt noire revisitee est à découvrir … et le carrot cake une merveille ! Bravo à Mattia Marcelli le manager d’une équipe internationale de très haute volée en qualité tant en cuisine qu’en salle: on reviendra !

i was very disappointed. The restauafrant has lost its old charm . The old menu has been changed for a very small menu offering mainly seafood, which I cant eat due to a seafood allergy. No choice if vegetables , only broccoli. Dinner plates far too small The desert choice was excellent Whilst I know the restaurant has just reopened it was very strange that it was very empty on saturday evening .

Christian was our server and he was so conversational and informative. The whole service team made us feel special and treated us so kind. The steak for two was heavenly.

Today a friend and I decided to celebrate Easter at The Grill restaurant, what can I say.. impeccable, elegant and fabulous place. Lovely sunday roast at The Grill, staff with high service standard and very friendly. Daniele was really helpfull during our stay for the lunch, checked on us and served us always with the smile. Will come back for sure and spend another lovely stay in this amazing restaurant.

This was our first visit to The Dorchester since the refurbishment works have been completed and it didn’t disappoint the hotel looks fantastic. Having visited the hotel on numerous occasions and eaten in their other restaurants, this was our first visit to The Grill. The restaurant is decorated beautifully with ornate ceilings and modern touches. All staff were extremely friendly and attentive without being intrusive and the menu was varied with imaginative twists on classics. The food was well presented and absolutely delicious. Would recommend and cannot wait to return.

Possibly the last of many hotels I had never visited. Put on my Christmas wish list was Sunday lunch with my family. We boarded the train full of excitement and much anticipation. The doorman opened the taxi door promptly upon arrival, we felt like VIPs, until we entered the building , it was a very cold day and everyone of us wore an overcoat, but disappointedly there was no meet and greet or warm welcome, so for me a very poor reception. On enquiry from one of the two concierge , sorry to interrupt but where is the cloakroom I enquired. Not at all the reception I was expecting, very poor I thought on finding my way to the cloakroom. No lounge for pre lunch cocktails but we’re offered drinks at our table, instead we sat at the bar which was a bit of a let down in what was more of a bistro than an upmarket finery, saved by all the fabulous staff and head waiter, thank you. The food was fabulous and the golden roast potatoes were the best eaten in my long life coupled with a Pidgeon dish cooked to absolute perfection. A wonderful treat and food to meet expectations. The main entrance hall was fit for royalty, decked out in all its glamor , stunning in gold and flowers everywhere . Shame on arrival we were made to feel like intruders ….

Beautiful experience! Came here for valentines celebration with my girlfriend for lunch. The service was outstanding, the food amazing and location stunning. The restaurant supervisor Matteo took very good care of us from start to finish. I definitely recommend this restaurant and I will be back for sure! 5 out of 5.

I honestly couldn’t hype this up more. From the moment we walked in the doors, the staff were friendly, helpful and helped create such a lovely atmosphere. The food, yes pricey, but fully worth it. The best steak tartare I’ve ever had and each component of every dish was so well considered. Will be going again as often as I can!

After one of the Worst meals of my life! I revisited the Dorchester Grill as a guest of a friend, I was please to give them a second chance as in the past this was my go to restaurant in London. Yet again the Staff...

We had the best time ever at The Grill. It was my Mums first time in London for 10 years and I booked here for a treat. They were so accommodating when we ran a little late and said it was no trouble at all. The hostess was so friendly and took our coats for the cloakroom. Daniel treated us so well and gave great menu recommendations to suit our tastes. The food was amazing. The head chef Adam Nevin has created a menu deserving of one of the top hotels of the world. He came out to check everything was ok with our food and we loved every bite. I’d highly recommend a visit to this restaurant. You won’t be disappointed

We usually come here as a treat but very very disappointed this visit. Food was good but service was shocking. Not what you expect when paying £150+ for lunch. The bread came out with the main course! And the food arrived before any cutlery! I did mention that we weren’t happy when paying the bill and just a simple sorry not even genuine.

My husband and I went to The Grill to celebrate exactly 21 years to the day since we first met at The Dorchester. The Grill was fantastic, although it did take 15 minutes for the wine which we ordered to arrive as they had to search 3 wine cellars for it! Service was excellent as was the food. For small portions it was very filling. We really felt that it was a special occasion and were presented with a complimentary dessert with Happy Anniversary written on the plate at the end of our meal. Our only complaint is that as The Dorchester is still undergoing renovations it was not at all clear on arrival how to get into the hotel. There were no signs on the fence around the front which would have been really helpful as, of course we went the wrong way, and although we ended up in the Chinese restaurant at The Dorchester we were told that there was no way to get through to the Grill so had to go all the way back again. On a dark wet and windy December evening this wasn’t ideal and could easily have been avoided with some signage. We did point this out to many members of staff but were not given any explanation or much of an apology.

Having been to some of the other hotel restaurants (Ritz , Savoy , Lanesborough ) it was time to try out The Dorchester. I feel that I have been quite mean with the four star rating as the food is 5 star and as good...

The Grill at the Dorchester was wonderful. Tom Booten's food was out of this world with the minor exception of the garlic ice cream that my partner chose for dessert. The room was beautiful, the service was perfect, all in all I recommend it highly.

We eat here quite often and the food is always well presented interesting and tasty, the service at the Dorchester is second to none, we also frequent the Ritz and Claridges and its up there if not better than those. This visit the restaurant was a little quiet due to Easter holidays and ramadan.

I love the Grill Restaurant. It ticks all my boxes. The food is amazing and the Head Chef provided a rare treat of showing the preparation of the dessert menu. He also added a tour of the kitchen. It made the whole experience special. Plus we visited the top floor to listen to live artiste singing and such an amazing view. All together a fabulous time and very memorable. Will be back soon

Took my Mum (and dad) to the Grill for a special Mother’s Day meal today and where to I start. The food was outstanding, with every aspect delivered to perfection. We couldn’t fault any single part of it. The service was equally outstanding. Special mention to Pia who went out of her way to ensure that my parents (especially Mum) enjoyed every second of the experience. Pia provided them with a special tour, meeting Tom and the chefs and spent time detailing the history of the restaurant and hotel. For them to be treated like VIPs at 75/80 years young made their absolute year. Huge thanks for being so kind and giving them an experience they wont forget. Mum was smiling all the way home. Can’t praise the team in this restaurant enough. 5 star ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Excellent service and I was very surprised at how good the food was, it genuinely deserves some food of recognition, on par with a lot of the London Michelin star restaurants. Will be going again

Just because my eyes r bigger than my stomach i have to come back to eat the rest of the menu😆 Love the small bites, the special bun and super love the garlic soup and the mushroom risotto..and more.
