This is a recommended experience, but it comes with a warning. Why don't ordinary people go to extra posh hotels? Is it because they feel somewhat assaulted by the superior attitude they fear they will experience from the staff? We loved our time at the Dorchester Hotel Grill, but we had to learn the hard way that you need to be assertive, confident and persistent in order to get what YOU want, and not get charged for what THEY want you to have – 3 coffees and 2 waters - £52! Staff - The meeter-greeter was charismatic and knew our family name as we approached - impressive. She was personable, warm and effective. The first assault comes when a huge ice bucket with lots of champagne bottles in. This is wheeled across with great ceremony, and you were asked if you might like a glass. This is your first test of assertiveness. A polite man will ask the ladies and make £100 disappear very quickly. When I asked for the wine list instead, she looked disappointed - I don't know why, as plenty of the wines are priced at over £100. Then we are given the A la carte menu - and you have to be assertive again. You have to actively ask for the lunchtime menu. Irritating. Food - We went because we saw a YouTube review by Greeno - with three substantial courses. Be warned, the first course has changed and the two alternatives are less than overpowering. My companions had the burrata and salad, which came in a high sided bowl and was somewhat of a challenge to get started on with a knife and fork. Beautiful and complex visually, but a little bit bland in terms of taste. My onion confection was a little bizarre. I kid you not, it was a hollowed out onion filled with pieces of onion and the waitress poured around the side… an onion broth. I was hoping for something more French onion soup like, but this was more a the contemporary artist’s impression of the theme of the essence of an onion. The tiny bready cheesy bits on top were worth the first bite but then fell into the onion broth as they were balanced on top of the onion. It made me sad as I remembered all those lovely onion soups in Paris. The mains were an upgrade from the starter. My companions had a straight out of the sea piece of cod with a crust of nuts and clever things and it was a beautiful dish. I had a wonderful large half breast of chicken with tasty skin on, with various sources and, I kid you not, another onion! But this time it was stuffed with salmon and was really pleasant. And the CHIPS - if you could only have one element from the whole meal it would be these extraordinary creations. Apparently they take 72 hours to make. They are like a fine pomme dauphinoise that is in shaped like a chip and then triple cooked. £10 for 6. Wonderful. I don't normally do desserts, but this is where the hotel excelled. My companion had rhubarb ice cream with rhubarb and bits on top accompanied by a rhubarb “McDonalds Apple Pie” and I'm not being rude here. It looked the same and was mouth burningly hot as well. Great selection. We had a matcha cheesecake with a strawberry gel on top that was just about perfect. With a scoop of pistachio ice cream on the side and crumbled pistachio as well. Really nice. And because it was our birthdays, we had two birthday plates with swirly whirly chocolate sauce writing and little pieces of dessert on them as well. Really impressive. If you are into desserts. This is the lunch for you. Wine - We had a Barbera D’ Asti that was OK, but were charged £75 for the pleasure - the cheapest bottle in their eighty page wine catalogue - the Italian Reds are on page 53. The red wine was disappointing for the price. Kitchen tour - when they're not super busy they offer a tour of the kitchens which is worth a look. We spoke to Freddy, the head chef whose name is on the menu and was a delight - armed with all our knowledge from Anthony Bourdain and Jason Atherton, we talked about taking knives home on the tube, working service in silence, shouty and sweary head chefs (that is the past) and were shown the impressive wine collection with single bottles costing up to £13,000 - maybe my £75 wine wasn't too bad after all. Recommended - go in with your eyes open - it is called the grill - the doorman did not know the Tom Booton bit even though it is written on the wall. You need to pump up your assertiveness, and “just say “NO!” muscles” to avoid escalating bills, and keep the best lunch deal for a posh hotel restaurant in London, intact. I would skip the champagne, ask for tap water, and take your coffees elsewhere - £9 for an average espresso is not on. For dessert lovers this is a winning place

A veces necesitas ir a un lugar especial donde puedas tener una experiencia maravillosa. Como corresponde a un hotel de 5 *, es recibido por un amable portero, personal de recepción acogedor y luego entrar en un hermoso comedor donde las mesas están muy bien separadas para que pueda tener un poco de espacio y escuchar a su invitado hablar! Nos sirvieron por Charlotte que era fantástico, y aparentemente parte de nuestro almuerzo fue cocinado por su compañero chef; y la comida era universalmente exquisita. No es frecuente que tengas un almuerzo perfecto, pero esto fue todo! Thanks to the friendly staff, I was able to enjoy dinner alone. I don't drink alcohol, so I thought the beef tartare and salad had a lot of seasoning, but the overall balance was good. The main course, the ribeye, and the recommended summer pudding were special dishes that I would like to try again. I can eat Alain Ducasse in Japan, but The Grill was a unique dining experience!

Went here for a 4 course breakfast, with each course paired with a different coffee provided by Difference Coffee. The restaurant is very beautiful and quite stunning, with the service being both courteous and attentive. However, I found the tasting menu fairly average, and my egg yolk was unfortunately overcooked and not runny. The coffee was also quite average, despite the over pretentious nature of the brand ambassador, who found it necessary in conversation to belittle an independent coffee producer he hadn't heard of and tell me that they only buy expensive coffee that has won awards. It left a slight bitter taste in my mouth, pun intended.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Grill by Tom Booton at the Dorchester Hotel in London, and it was an experience to remember. A heartfelt thank you to the entire team, especially the talented chef, for creating such a wonderful dining experience. We left The Grill with full bellies and happy hearts, and we can't wait to return! Highly recommended for anyone looking for exquisite food and exceptional service in a stunning setting.

Assolutamente impeccabile Matteo , il general manager , che ha reso indimenticabile l'esperienza con la sua professionalita' ...tipicamente italiana! Lo chef Tom Bottom , sosia di Gordon Ramsey , molto simpatico e affabile . Ambiente che si presenta molto formale ma vivendo l'esperienza risulta essere molto piacevole grazie sicuramente a Matteo , allo Chef e al personale di servizio . Ci ritorneremo.

I have always considered The Dorchester the epitome of elegance and luxury, but my recent dining experience at The Grill by Tom Booton was nothing short of disappointing and inadequate. From the moment I arrived, the service was disorganized and impersonal. A hotel bellman had to search for a hostess to assist me, and when she finally arrived, she seated me in a rush without acknowledging my name, introducing herself, or even properly setting the table. I was left sitting there without menus, without any service, and with no idea who would be assisting me. After a couple of minutes, a waitress came to ask about water, only to be followed shortly by another waitress asking the same thing. The process was chaotic, and when someone finally removed the extra cover from my table, they bluntly asked, "Are you alone?"—not exactly the level of sophistication I expected. I had to request menus from yet another staff member. After carefully looking the menus I made up my mind on getting some Milk Rolls, 1 starter and 1 main and getting one cocktail to start followed by a nice glass of Bordeaux. I also noted that the Head of Wines, Head Sommelier, and Sommelier were all Italian, like me. Despite this, my Italian name and phone number on the reservation, and even a "grazie" from me, went entirely unnoticed. After nearly ten minutes, the Head of Wines finally took my order. I asked for recommendations and proceeded with my selections. However, after finishing my starter, I realized my cocktail had never arrived. The General Manager, who checked on me at this point, apologized for the oversight and assured me it would be brought immediately—on the house. Unfortunately, my cocktail arrived alongside my main course, ruining my plan to enjoy it beforehand and eliminating the idea of the wine glass. If the staff had made an effort to recover from these missteps, I might have reconsidered my overall impression. Instead, the GM, Head of Wines, and a waitress stood behind me speaking in Italian about the service—unaware that I could understand every word. Their conversation included curse words such as "cazzo" and "merda," which are universally recognizable. At that point, I felt compelled to remark on their inappropriate language. Both men apologized, and the GM attempted to make amends by offering a complimentary dessert and another cocktail. However, by then, the damage was irreparable. Some other bullet point about the experience: -No one in the restaurant ever called me by my name. -No one in the restaurant ever introduced them self using their name. -Even the GM when trying to make it up to me, after mentioning my reservation and giving me his business card, never mentioned my name or his own. -The table next to mine (too close if you ask me) was not returned properly, showing the naked table below the tablecloth. -The Italian waitress that was talking behind me after the remark laughed inappropriately and kind of arrogantly. Just inadequate! -The chef came out to touch some tables with a too small uniform looking, once again, inelegant and inadequate. -With the dessert I have been asked if I wanted more water and I declined. They brought the water anyway and it was still while I was drinking sparkling. On the check they charged that last bottle of still, which I did not want, and forgot to charge the sparkling I regularly ordered. Speaking about the food: -The Milk Rolls despite looking delicious were too dry. The most disappointing thing is that to the table in front of me they served them with 2 different kind of aromatic butter, to me only with one. I was alone but I paid the same price they paid, so serve me the same dish! - The Scallop was literally 1 single scallop for 29 £. The taste was ok, nothing special. -The Pigeon, again was 50£ for not more than 30/40 gram of pigeon. The taste this time was delicious! -The dessert was the course I appreciated the most.

Después de pasar un tiempo en Londres asistiendo a un evento de entrenamiento, un colega recomendó que almorzáramos en el Dorchester Grill. ¡No decepcionó! Teníamos el menú del almuerzo que tenía una selección limitada de deliciosos platos. Un entrante, principal y desierto fueron bellamente presentados y probados sublime. ¡Comer en el hotel The Grill at The Dorchester cumplió con mis altas expectativas! La comida era maravillosa, pero fue el ambiente y el servicio al cliente que ganó mis elogios y me haría volver de nuevo. Have visited the grill many times with friends and family it has always been exceptional… Apart from yesterday! Throughout the night I was very ill and vomiting several times from food poisoning. Nothing else I ate during the day could’ve caused this reaction and I can only assume it was from the beef fillet I was served. For £430 it was disappointing. Even the current menu is not as good as previous in my opinion. The only positive is the fantastic service me and my partner received from the staff during our time in the bar and grill. A shame I won’t be visiting again.

Four of us ate in the restaurant. We went there spontaneously with high expectations and were quickly shown a table. The meat was OK, but nothing special - I've definitely had better. My friend's fish, on the other hand, seemed to be very good, so that was a bright spot. However, the artichoke was a complete disappointment! For the price I would have expected much more. The portion was tiny and suitable at best as a starter, not as a main course. The service was mediocre and did not meet the standards of a restaurant of this category. We were told after we “only” ordered main courses that the artichoke needed at least 30 minutes to prepare. Incredible! What should be positively highlighted is the ambience, which was really very nice and created a pleasant atmosphere. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough to save the overall impression.

This place was fantastic. The staff were incredible and so friendly and the food was some of the best I have had for a long long time in London. Specially as (to my knowledge) it doesn’t have a Michelin star. Highlights for me were the squab pigeon and the mince meat soft serve (yes you read that correctly, unreal). Had a lovely chat with the chefs in the back, the front of house and the pastry chefs (Ben, lovely lad with great chocolate writing) on the pass too. Everything from walking into the door (Dorchester Hotel, as you expect) to every aspect of service and every little touch throughout the night. Couldn’t recommend more, will absolutely be coming back. Thank you to all the team and thankyou for the fantastic time and service provided.

No puedo creer que no haya escrito una crítica de nuestro restaurante favorito. ¿Puedo ser justo cuando hemos visitado las ofertas de Tom Booton tantas veces? La respuesta a mi propia pregunta es obvia si no hubiera sido tan buena la primera vez que no hubiéramos regresado. Hace mucho tiempo, la ex enfermera, pero directora del centro de rehabilitación y el hijo físico de Sprog recientemente fueron a almorzar. Somos bien conocidos por el equipo de ahí mi cautela al principio. Mesas bien espaciadas, frente a casa tan profesional, atentas sin sobrecocinar. Gran selección de “burbujas” por el vidrio rápidamente ofrecido. Buena carta de vinos con menús y las opciones de asado del domingo ejemplares como siempre han sido los entrantes, y postres. Solo una vez encontré el cordero principal, un poco frugal con un poco de grasa, pero eso es muy parecido a ese juez en el programa de baile. En general, los estándares enormes delante y detrás de la casa, todos los platos tendrían muchas veces, no tiene sentido sugerir unos sobre otros. We had such a great time there! The food was wonderful - it was hard to decide which dish was my favorite between the delicate Pigeon, the exquisite monkfish, or the scrumptious fig trifle dessert. Beyond the incredible food, the service was impeccable : friendly, discrete and attentive to the requirements of our group. Marine welcomed us warmly and guided us through our dinner, Alex was serving us efficiently, and always with a smile, while Martina, the sommelier, recommended us bold but excellent and fitting wines to pair with our food. It was my first time there, and I already want to come back - thank you!

We had a wonderful dinner at the Grill, where we came to celebrate a special moment as a group of friends. The menu offers something for all tastes, combining grill classics with a much welcome twist and modern flare, while the elegant yet warm setting is perfect to celebrate a special occasion without being too formal. The quality of service did stand out: Martina, the sommelière, did a fantastic job suggesting perfect wines to match our dishes, while Marine and and Olga made us feel as if we were the only guests, even on a busy Saturday night. We had a great lunch at The Grill yesterday. The waitresses were all very friendly and genuine, and the decor and atmosphere in the restaurant is lovely. We had the set menu - the moules were an excellent starter and the chocolate and orange soft serve dessert was equally delicious. The chicken main course was very nice, but my only minor criticism would be that I think one side should be included for the price. Overall though, a very pleasant experience!

Exceptional! We came here with my daughter to celebrate her 21st Birthday and the food and service was exceptional. The Chicken Liver Parfait was soft and silky and had great flavour, while the Jerusalem Artichoke was cooked to perfection. My Monkfish main was perfection on a plate and tasted fantastic with a nice char, while the veal chop was beautifully cooked, and my daughter said she could have had seconds. The service was discrete but attentive and the wine list adequately covered the regions of the world. It also had my favourite wine from New Zealand, which went down a treat. The only area to improve is to have far more options in the ‘From the Grill’ menu, considering this place is called ‘The Grill’ it is seriously lacking in living up to its name.

I made a reservation the day before and arrived at 7pm. Every dish was delicious, a unique British dish that reinterpreted traditional dishes and perfected them on the plate. I was able to see the kitchen at the arrangement of the hall staff, and the chef was very friendly and it was a wonderful experience. The desserts were also surprisingly delicious. Overall, it's a taste that even Japanese people don't mind. I would love to go to London again just for this restaurant.

The menu here has evolved with not only a lighter touch for summer but also the use of well-selected herbs and spices to provide a new dimension to dishes and enhance the flavours. The green gazpacho of the starter on the set lunch menu – which is very good value – really stimulated the taste buds and the accompanying cured salmon, fennel, cucumber and almonds were all first class. A Corsican Vermentino was a very well-chosen wine by the glass to partner that dish and the main course poached cod (a generous portion). The strawberry trifle might have been traditional and simple but it was excellently executed. The Yellow Bourbon coffees are fully Mayfair priced but very good and we were looked after very well. The was a very satisfying meal, lifting the spirits. Another meal: We returned for a dinner to have some of the dishes from the new menu and again had an excellent meal – a selection of the ‘snacks’ (shimejis with mushroom XO, Kimchi on hash brown, grilled peach with coppa and prawn and salsa taco), the main course pork dish with grilled pineapple and fennel with ‘gravy mayonnaise’ and a side of chips and for dessert the tonka bean panna cotta with poached plums and sake sorbet. The flavours were light and interesting and all the elements were superbly cooked. The Fabal lager recommended to go with the pork dish was not only a good partner for that but also for the snacks. Service was again both efficient and very pleasant and contributed to a very satisfying and enjoyable evening.

Me and my friends visited this place, ordered cocktails, the restaurant was half empty, beautiful design, good atmosphere, overall everything was fine until the manager approached us. We were disappointed with the bald manager, who started an interrogation with his personal questions about work, where we work, what we do, in which office, do we know his brother, and it was all very unfriendly and rude, he put pressure on us, he wasn’t friendly and nice, we all felt threatened and we didn't like it. We lost our appetite and changed our minds about ordering a food, wanted to leave and asked for the bill. But the bald, arrogant manager came up to us again and said that this was a restaurant, not a bar, and we had to order food, at that moment my friend stood up for me, interrupted him and said that we didn’t like his behavior and the way he treated us, it was arrogant on his part and very disrespectful. So we paid the bill and left, this situation left a bad impression.

What a wonderful reception we had on entering The Grill. It was my wife’s birthday and she was greeted with such a warm welcome. We like to sit side by side instead of opposite each other and we were shown to a corner of the restaurant where we could see the whole of the restaurant ( Table 33). Tom greeted us and with his charismatic personality and was just lovely as he was when we saw him previously. We ordered snacks. The milk roll bread was delicious, alongside the mushroom parfait which was so smooth and the Madeira jelly was exceptional. For main course we chose Tom’s ‘ALL THE CHICKEN’, which I would highly recommend, was outstanding. The succulent breast, with the crispy beer battered legs and the well dressed Caesar salad was delicious. We chose The Grills Chips with Gravy Mayonnaise which was just out of this world. This was our second visit and we will return as the atmosphere and attention to detail is always exceptional.

My husband and I visited The Grill by Tom Booton for lunch for the first time. Our experience at this restaurant was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived until we left, we felt welcomed and pampered by the food and the service. We appreciate Mattia Marcelli the general manager who went out of his way to make sure that we enjoyed our time there and also the team for putting together such a good experience. We were given a tour of the restaurant and the premises, nothing like what we have experienced before. Abandon any prejudice you have (and I certainly did have) against hotel restaurants. The Grill has just provided one of the top dining experiences of my life. First, the venue - just a stunning room off the breathtaking lobby in the Dorchester. Second the service. It would have been so easy to have stiff, sterile and formal service - but that's not how they roll. It is immaculate service but done with personality, warmth and informality (they joked that they would wrap up the single remaining chip for us to take out!). All of the waiting staff genuinely engaged with us, picking up on the chat around the table, and making us feel that we were amongst friends. Third the wine. Yes, of course you can go mad, but you dont have to. I asked the sommelier to suggest whites that she felt tended to be overlooked. We took both her recommendations - the first of which was a fabulous 2013 Savennieres chenin that lists at £80 and should be easily double that. Finally, the food. Wow. So much to rave about. Cod doughnuts, chicken liver parfait and fried shimeji mushrooms - all stunning. N'duja scotch egg was extraordinary, but it was the take on moules mariniere which blew us away. No messing around with shells but instead an intensely flavoured and texturally structured dish that had us all wanting more. Main courses were equally high quality and you haven't lived until you have had Grill chips. But the abiding memory was of how warm, natural and engaging all of the service team was. Bravo, and thank you.

Visited with friends. We had a fantastic time at The Grill and enjoyed the new sharing concept. Food was flavourful and creative (my personal favs were the lamb skewers and the ribeye). Service was top notch and the staff tended to all of our needs and wants, including cocktails, wine pairing and special dietary requirements for my pregnant friend. I truly believe that this is one of the most important factors in regards to any dining experience. The point is you want to feel welcomed and leave that place with a smile on your face and wish to come back again soon! The manager was beyond helpful and it made us feel we were like family! He even took us on a kitchen tour, and I was so pleasantly surprised and impressed! Being a foodie and someone who loves cooking, I truly appreciated it! So thank you for that! Also thank you to a lovely bartender who came to greet us and offered a fantastic limoncello! Grazie! Now about the food. I enjoyed so much crispy semolina with Gouda cheese and salami on top! Delicious! Must try. Fried Shimeji Mushrooms were ok. Need some improvement in the batter and less fried. Lamb skewers were good. The grilled monkfish with lingonberries was amazing. Tender, juicy and done perfectly! Bravo Chef! Also, Cornish Plaice with anchovies and warm tartar sauce was so tasty and light. The fried anchovy was so good, (and I am someone who doesn’t love anchovies) but this one was so wonderful! Next was the double fried chips and I enjoyed them so much. Crispy and soft inside. Of course I always have space for something sweet 😂 the fig tarte tatin with fig leaf soft serve was so nicely done and super tasty. I personally adore figs and they were so delicious. Almost forgot my lobster Cesar salad, it was lovely and I am so picky with my lobster. It was fresh and light and properly cooked. You will love it! Cheers to all foodies!🙏

Need more stars ! The Dorchester is new to me. The grill is staged in the opulence of the Dorchester a scale of grandeur I’m not familiar with. Sat and felt slightly intimidated, an occasions i tried to remember appropriate table manners once taught and long forgotten from my parents. We ordered , the food arrived and nothing mattered the surroundings where irrelevant. Who ever baked the breads should be sainted ( I later found out it Josh the Sous ) Layered brioche and a round of Milk bread resembling a cloud. The snacks starters and mains we clearly made with passion , technique and absolute commitment from team headed by Tom Booton It was not a meal it was an experience that surpasses any notion of what was charged. Highly recommended!! We had a lovely dinner, every dishes was done to perfection, from snack, small plates to the main course. I would say it serves one of the best steak in London!. The fig tarte tatin was absolutely divine! Mateo and his team was professional, caring and made our evening hugely enjoyable! I am already planning my next visit!

Incredible experience at the Grill by Tom Booton! Couldn't recommend it enough. The new menu is great - definitely worth trying a few bits from the snack menu, which were all very tasty! The service was extremely attentive and we loved that the chef, Tom came out to explain a few of the dishes. We will be back!

We sat in the garden area, which was beautiful. The staff were mediocre, but that may have been due to the number of tables they were responsible for serving. The food was HORRIBLE!!!! This is definitely NOT traditional Polish food. We are from Poland and so we know. Even if we were not expecting traditional food, it was just terrible food in general and far from upscale. £165 for 3 people and we feel very ripped off and disappointed. I do not mind paying that amount if we enjoy our meals, but everything was sub-par. All dishes ordered were way too salty and strange combinations that no Polish person would use. French fries with steak tartare!!??! Steak tartare that arrives pre-mixed!!?!? Do not waste your money!!! This restaurant should be ashamed of the food they are serving and the way they are falsely marketing their establishment. Now we understand why there were no other Polish people dining there - they know it is not real Polish food and are avoiding this restaurant. Lesson learned. YUCK!!!!!! ***UPDATE*** sick all night after dining in this restaurant***

Dopo parecchi anni sono tornato alle. Origini il. Primo locale in cui ho lavorato nel. 2012 appena arrivato a Londra. Locale sempre carino su due piani il. Secondo piano usato per feste e il. Primo come bar e ristorante. Se non sbaglio è anche cambiata la proprietà non ho visto la manager che c'era prima e Devo dire che meglio così. Cibo non male servizio cordiale. Prezzi un po' alti ma a Londra di non caro non esiste niente.

My first time tasting this cuisine outside of my visit to Xi’an and I was pleasantly surprised. The flavors definitely suit my palate more as a non-local visitor. The Steamed Wheat Noodles with Seasonal Veggies & Wheat Gluten may look red and oily, but don’t be fooled! It’s not spicy at all. It pairs perfectly with the cold veggie appetizer! There was one male staff member who was genuinely professional—polite, attentive, and carried himself with such great etiquette. I’d honestly come back just for the service. Truly exemplary.
