Saturday 28th Sept 5pm, as usual the Bankers Cat was rammed, so busy that we thought we'd give The Griffin a try next door. Plenty of space, took the table nearest the door, it was full of glasses & bottles that stayed there way too long considering it wasn't too busy. Picked up a menu, when I'd unglued my fingers from it we decided not to eat, I went to the toilets to wash my hands. OMG! trash and toilet a paper everywhere and what I hoped was a large pool of water on the floor....on the way out back to the bar I noticed how bad the maintenance is, stains and chips everywhere, just dirty. I know it's chain but somebody has to care? It makes the General Elliot or The Three Legs feel like Ibiza lounge bars,

One of the typical pubs where you can't go wrong. It has all the standard drinks you can request, fine atmosphere and best of all the food is good! I come over to this pub for a meal. Staff were lovely, food was a little bit more expensive than local places, but was tasty. The soft drinks are extortionate. How can you justify nearly £6 for lemonade and blackcurrant? When wetherspoons are over £4 cheaper for a soft drink. That is theft clear and simple.

Visited last weekend after celebrating my friends graduation, we had booked a table although there wasn’t many tables when we arrived so were able to choose where we sat. The two ladies on the bar were friendly and the drinks were lovely. Unfortunately the food was a bit of a let down, waited about 35 minutes for food and when it arrived it wasn’t overly warm, my steak was also over cooked and served with the wrong sides. However the manager on shift was really lovely about it and had a fresh one made. Really lovely decor and atmosphere would definitely visit for drinks again but would probably eat else where. Great selections of local beer and a great cocktail menu

Door staff rude to a point I felt threatened & I had just got out of a taxi with my family. The age range from 15 to 72 only the 4 of us, 2 female, 1 adult male & a 15 year old boy. We booked for a meal as we are visiting the city from Belfast & USA we wanted to enjoy a traditional English Pub meal whilst watching the football afterwards. No the doorman stop our teenager asked for ID our teenager being from America was confused at the fact he was called out, we explained yes he is under age here & in the US & he was with his Grandmother, and myself his aunt & would never allow him to drink alcohol, he then told us we would have to be out for 7pm, we arrived at 6.45pm I truly could not believe this. The bar staff & restaurant staff where as upset with him as we were. If this was the last place to eat, drink in Leeds avoid simple you can't get through the door as the door staff are RUDE & in my opinion not suitable for the job, forcing tourists in Leeds City Centre head to an other establishment, who where happy to welcome us in.

As a season ticket holder at Leeds I've been over for soo many games the Griffin is always a stopping point, service can be slow and no eye contact from the bar staff seems to be the "norm" and I've sort of got used to it. This weekend took the biscuit with me. There were 2 lads behind the bar, I couldn't see any name tags , the tallest of the 2 just totally blanked me and others, walked around like he was busy then when he saw we were served grunted in out direction. This happened more than once and I actually began to think this guy has taken a dislike to me ! he wasn't serving anyone and I caught his eye a few times trying to get his attention and he just looked away. Served other people around that came in behind me ... and eventually served me and it was as if he had to and really couldn't be bothered !! When I returned later with family we sat in there at the top of the bar near the door, not sure if that's an area they don't serve from but at least 3 staff him included saw us there and totally ignored us, we had to go to the other end of the bar to get served, unfortunately it was the same lad who ignored us again it was at that point I thought it definitely was personal. My son wanted to say something but we were in company and I didn't want to make a scene as I've said been here loads ate and drank on countless occasions but I really felt that getting served was going to be down to if the staff could be bothered ? I'll nip in again on the 16th see if my suspicions are right if they are it's a wide berth I'll be giving it in future. Reply : I was at the bar initially around 12.45 at the bar for both goals. last till from the front door. We (4 of us) returned 18.20 ish entered the top end of the bar near the door, my son and I went to the bottom of the bar

Went for a team lunch and was very disappointed with the quality and presentation of the food. I ordered the steak sandwich from the 'Lunch and drink' special menu. Food arrived pretty swiftly, and it came in dry bloomer bread, and inside, on a bed of rocket, were two of the smallest pieces of dry, tough steak, no bigger than my finger. Served with a side of more rocket, with tiny cubes of pickled watermelon, which were awful. Definitely needed the drink to wash it down.

Very friendly staff and very welcoming. Wouldn't hesistate to return if I was in the area. I know what a few have said about the prices but it's a Greene King, so it's always over priced with these guys & it's in the city of Leeds, so it's to be expected. It's cheaper than most places in Nottingham to be fair! Like I said, would definitely return if (when) I come back to Leeds!

Imagine, going into a Leeds city centre pub on match day, 6-8 Leeds supporters watching the match, 30 minutes in, 3 Man United fans come in and ask for the TV, that Leeds supporters have been watching for 30 minutes, to be switched over for the Man United game to go on. I've been coming to this fish and chip shop for years. Since I was a young child and we used to visit the chemic pub. I'm heartbroken to say the least. It's a shame to see such a lovely little fish shop go down the toilet. I have just got fish and chips twice, battered sausage, 2 breadcakes and 2 cans of pop. I couldn't even eat all mine. The chips were black/brown and tasted like they had been re-fried from yesterday and not even cooked properly. The fish tasted like it was days old and had been re-fried possibly a few times. The batter (which had always been my favourite part of the fish) which wasn't really batter, it tasted worse than the breaded fish from asda. I will not be going back as this once thriving fish and chip shop is now a deserted one all since it was taken over by new management.

I went here for the brunch with work a few Saturdays ago, and I wasn't too impressed with the food or drink. The drinks were watery and majority of the group had the beef burrito but they said it was too Spicy so most of it got left. I had the pasta and was quite surprised that it was nice. The portion size was OK too. The staff did keep coming over to our table regularly to take drinks Orders and clear the empties. The place is definitely for the young uns and had a good lively atmosphere. The staff get involved too.
