Friendly staff and very good fish and chips at a good price.

Apparently this is what is defined as a fish and scallop butty! It would of been nice if someone could of informed me prior to the visit that hiltons main fish supplier is birds-eye. And although I can understand the cost of living crisis difficulty, one single slither of a baby potatoe is not what I expect as a scallop butty, given other fish and chip shops in the local area offer a higher quality and quantity in their scallop butties. As a proud British native who considers fish&chip establishments to be a symbol of what it is to be British, I feel Hilton is not only failing its customers but the historical significance fish and chip shops have always held in our country.

I have been useing hillton,s for 10 years .Tonight the fish was ok ,but the chips,they was so under cooked Really poor,dnt no how she got them so wrong, my grandson didnt touch hes ,put them in the bin ,waited 10mins to go back in and tell the lady behind the counter about them ,didnt want to put other customers of buying,she said ok and smiled at me,they lady is always nice ,it has really put me of coming back in ..

The chippy is the best local shop for everything. Olivia dealt with me and my friend and the food was amazing. Very friendly and reasonably priced

Use to go here at least twice a month. Food was yummy. But last time we went it had a really weird taste. Don't know if it was a change in oil or cooking methods or something but it was revolting. Haven't been back since.

Fish cake so dry was rock hard. Scallop burned. Fish and chips ok. Will not be returning. Was very good previously

Best chippy in Leeds in my opinion, I wouldn't go anywhere else! Great fish and chips plus a great super friendly service from Kate and Olivia.

Given it two goes and won't be returning. Fish was really batter-heavy, not much fish it was mostly crispy batter. Chips were decent but portions are ridiculously small. They only do one bag size "Large" which anywhere else would do 2 people to share, but here it's basically a large side portion for 1. Gravy was also tepid, the server heated it up in a microwave from cold for about 30 seconds. On a Friday night you'd expect fresh. It's cheap but that's about the only thing going for it.

Really enjoyed the fish and chips from here, just dog sitting for our daughter. We come from Hull and I don't think we have had such good fish , curry sauce and peas were very good as well.

Tried this Fish n Chip shop for the first time ever as new to area, so glad we googled and found it. We went Saturday not long before closing so the fish were fried to order, absolutely delicious, my portions were fabulous, and they were cooked to perfection. I got a fish and pinched a few of hubby's chips. There was lots of choice on the menu all reasonably priced, and I noticed whilst waiting that they did lunchtime deals etc. Served by a helpful friendly lady. Highly recommend, the best in the area that we have tried, and will definitely be going back to.

Dry re-cooked chips, tiny soggy fish and £22 quid for food for 3 people. Used to be a regular here. Best avoided, terrible!

I like my fish well done so it was cooked to order. Never a problem.

Absolutely fantastic fish n chips served up with beautiful Irish curry sauce by gorgeous blonde fit bird .at a very reasonable price .it's now 1 of my regular stop offs

Have been getting F&Cs here fairly frequently for six years or so and never disappointed. Food's always good, staff friendly and efficient. Best fish and chips in Garforth we think (not that there's many to choose from).

Best chippy for miles. Fish is always fresh and delicious and the chips are perfect too. Chinese curry sauce is a bonus as are scraps, mushy peas and the fantastic friendly service.

Don’t go on a Friday teatime unless you are prepared to wait about 40 minutes. Twice I have been now and as soon as I get to the front of the queue, someone comes along and just walks straight in. Have they pre-ordered. Very frustrating

1 of the best fish and chips I have had in leeds, definitely worth a try if your near by, will definitely be going again.

Poor service and worse food. Went in, place was empty, so ordered two fish. Said I was popping next door for milk and the guy frying said that was fine. Made it clear I'd be back quickly. When I came back two more blokes in the shop and one was ordering and paying. Both got served before me, so each time the fish they were cooking for me got given to the others and another load had to be put in. If that wasn't bad enough when we got home the chips were cold, the bread had lumps of butter where the woman serving had rushed it and the food left a horrible grease residue on the roof of your mouth. Awful. Won't be going again.

We thought that we had discovered a real hidden gem in fish & chips here until this evening! We have been coming here for several months without any problem but tonight the fish was absolutely horrible! Totally inedible! It had a very strong “chemical” taste & we just could not eat it. It was nothing to do with the batter or the oil - it was the white fish itself. So we ended up with chips & scraps for tea! The search is back on for some decent British fish & chips in the area.

By far the best chippy in garforth! The Irish curry is awesome.

Chips were hollow and crunchy, not just a few but 90% of them (they either been left far too long and dried out or had been cooked twice)... Inedible meal unfortunately and left us incredibly disappointed. The food had to be put in the bin and we will be ordering pizza for tea once the shop opens.

We don't eat fish and chips very often but when we do, we go to Hillton's, five minutes away. The fish are cooked to order ( not just the specials) so they are always piping hot. Nicely lightly battered, not that thick, horrible stuff. Lots of other things available but we only ever get F&C.

For the most times its great fish and chips occasionally the fish doesn't live up to expectations and they do extra stuff too! Burgers pies chicken spam etc on the spam (I am a big lover of spam?) It comes in batter and each time I have gone for that it's been well done and not tasty at all and that's sad! And falls to bits so I won't be having that again! Currys are good and three types to choose from! When you ask for potato scallops they sometimes forget to put them in so ask before leaving the shop that there there? It's happened to me 3 times so I ask each time now! But it's still a good fish shop and sadly only four stars would have liked to give five but can't at this time!

Excellent fish and chips, but they need to speed up a bit. As long as you don't mind waiting they appear to cook them as you walk in. So sometimes a little bit soggy, but still taste great.

I always call this "The Crusader" chippy, originally because it's situated near The Crusader pub (which is, in itself, a nice place to while away the afternoon), now probably more because, with the amount of traffic & roadworks you must navigate round Garforth to get there, you feel as though you've been to Jerusalem and back when you arrive home with the booty. Worth it, however. I had a really nice cheeseburger and chips, and had a sausage thrown in for good measure; and very good it all was, too. Daughter had fish & chips with curry sauce which she polished off with vigour. The staff are friendly and the premises clean and tidy. Well worth a visit!

Visited yesterday, asked what their hygiene rating information was (not displayed), the young lady didn't have a clue what I was talking about, I also asked her to check the mushy peas as the last couple of sets I have had have been like bullets, with a big sigh, like I was putting her out, (I have called the shop and offered feedback), she squeezed a couple said they were fine, got home to find all like bullets again!!! Wont be returning, run by kids that don't have a clue!

The quality of the fish and chips is very inconsistent. We have been twice now. The first time the fish was ok and the chips portion was generous even though the chips were not the best. On the second visit the fish batter was poor and the chip portion and quality was bad. I want to like this place but it is a bit of a let down.

went a few weeks ago got 2 fish cakes was disappointed to find no fish in side just potato not impressed at all .

We have enjoyed the fish and chips here since it first opened, but I think standards are slipping. The fish was nice, but the chips were dished up out of a dirty, grease stained compartment. It needs a deep clean as customers can see it when the lid is up. Not impressed!

Good size portions, perhaps a few too many chips! Mushy peas always taste lovely. Chips have been eyed and poor removed - no bad chips! Fish is tasty, batter is sometimes slightly too dark a sign the fat is a little old or at least needs filtering. Product is wrapped in paper, good. All in all a good local fish and chip shop.

Really disappointing Dark dry chips. Fish was quite nice but not that tasty Ordered in advance of collection and order not even started when we got there And no pies!!

We've had fish and chips from this shop several times over the last couple of years. The quality is consistent and reliable at a fair price. I appreciate that they keep up a good community board with many notices about local activities and events which...

Well we were so disappointed with the fish, chips and peas we had today.I have always raved about this place being the best chippy in Garforth, but not anymore, always used to be spot on and always enjoyed every mouthful but not today, Dont think we will bother again with this place , Even the staff didn't seem interested in their job.....A GREAT CHIPPY GONE DOWN HILL....

Este establecimiento solía ser el mejor pescado y patatas fritas por millas por debajo de la anterior propiedad (un Maccas). Desde que asumió Hilltons parece que lentamente comenzaron a ir cuesta abajo.

Nos bobbed ayer de la recogida en el almuerzo de equipo, que fue organizado por nosotros. A la llegada a la tienda nos recibió una señora encantadora en el mostrador que es auténtico cálida bienvenida fue sentimos. El lugar era están impecables y muy bien distribuida. Pero la primera cosa que noté fue cuando entré en el pescado muy bien cocinados que descansaba en el estante. El pescado era de un tamaño muy modesto cubierto en el más pasta las arreglaron perfecta que he visto en mucho tiempo. Después de colocar nuestra orden vi las patatas fritas que obtuvo. Un bonito color dorado con mullidas dentro. Perfectamente preparado. La freidora tiene seriamente perfeccionado este plato clásico. Pedí salsa curry y nos ofrecieron dos tipos.salsa irlandés de curry era increíble. Toda la experiencia fue genial y no tengo dudas cuando volví que iba a ser bueno. No había nadie nos decepcionó y nos pareció que era el mejor pescado y patatas fritas que había tenido en mucho tiempo. Los chicos han restaurado mi fe en el comercio "fish and chips", debido a tener una mala experiencia de mi tienda local de pescado. Yo te odio Nash en Chapel Allerton. Pero ustedes son una auténtica joya y merecen un premio. Seguid trabajando así de bien y gracias por el mejor pescado y patatas fritas que hemos tenido en mucho tiempo.

Gran sabor pescado y patatas fritas de Hilton como consecuencia de cocinar en carne que goteaba - es la llave y por qué tantas tiendas del sur pueden generar pescado y patatas fritas con esa misma frescura y buen calidad de Yorkshire.

Very clean, good fish and chip shop in Garforth. They cook their food in vegetable oil instead of beef dripping which means vegetarians like myself can eat chips from there. I am told the fish is very good and tasty (I don't eat fish but hubby does). Would recommend it
