Googled pubs near me, and The Griffin was one of the highest rated, and it lived up to the reviews. There was a problem with my roast beef sandwich. It was immediately dealt with, and our server went above and beyond with rectifying things. All the staff were super lovely. I wound up replacing my sandwich with the pork cutlet because my husband's looked so good, and I wasn't disappointed. The atmosphere was great. It was the old style pub we were hoping to experience when in Glasgow, and it was everything we'd hoped.

We returned here yesterday for their amazing Sunday roast, watch the Olympics and enjoy our favourite pub again in Glasgow. We tried the charcuterie on Saturday which was gorgeous, friendly and plenty of staff, twas a wee bit busier on the Saturday so great atmosphere. Thanks Griffin 🍺👍

I hired the function room for my son as a leaving do before he goes travelling and we had a wonderful night. The room is a good size and has a lovely atmosphere we were able to play our own music and had our own bar. The staff were all brilliant. Thanks to all at the Griffin. We also had a meal in the bar beforehand and the food and service were excellent. 10/10 Elaine

The food was just ok. We ate through the back of the pub, which only had about 10 tables and didn't have any atmosphere compared to the bustling bar. For drinks and food, it came to £67, and it's definitely not worth it. We won't be back.

I'd like to know more about the incident with the customer with the Palestine top. Is it true or not? If it is, I won't ever be back and I'll make sure everyone in the city involved in Palestinian solidarity knows about it, too. If it was some sort of misunderstanding, I'll be happy to return.

Went here on the Skye beer shops recomendation. Beer is great, atmosphere and service nice but the food was a big let down on expectation. I ordered the Angus steak burger which was smaller than my boys kiddie burger and the patty tasted like a normal patty. I expected a piece of steak or at least a patty that was made from steak.

We booked a table last Sunday to try the roast, and it was easily one of the best pubs I've tried in Glasgow. The space is clean, newly renovated, and decorated elegantly and with attention to detail, and all the tables are adorned with candles and fresh flowers. The staff is very friendly and goes above and beyond, I wish I had asked our waiter's name to mention it here. Everything we tried was delicious, from the beef Sunday roast and the meat pie, to the potatoes au gratin and even the cheesy cauliflower. My sister is now coming to visit and I've already booked us table for this weekend!

Nice traditional pub, which for me was ruined by lack of male toilet facilities. It would appear they have removed 6 male urinals and left just 2 cubicles leading to quick build up of queues in getting to toilet to accommodate a tiny minority that wouldn't be using urinals anyway. Personally witnessed men urinating in sinks citing 'desperate or prostrate issues'. Should swap ladies with gents loo. If this is Griffins way forward. Glad to note from management comment issue has been resolved. I'll update comment after next visit.

Pub was really nice inside. Staff behind the bar were great didn't need to wait to be served. Dont go though if you want to be treated with respect by the manager Lisa Kiloh!! We arrived after a show in the Kings only to have one drink waiting for our taxi to take us and my 83 year old mum home. We sat at a table near the door with 4 stools. Lisa decided that we shouldn't be sitting there as we were blocking people from getting to the door!!! Don't put a table at the door if you don't want people to sit at it. She was rude and obnoxious. Nice pub shame about the manager. Oh and by the way not sure what you said when I left but I'm pretty sure it wasn't as funny as you thought it was.

I was excited to hear The Griffin had opened again... used to be a great pub for a pre- theatre or Sunday hang-over cure. The menu sounds promising, including Vegan options. Sadly the food is not anywhere near the standard of those halcyon days of decent pub grub. I had Dried up, tasteless "Isle of Mull Cheddar" Macaroni cheese served with farm-foods garlic bread - £13 The Vegan Moving Mountains Burger no better than Witherspoons... came with pitiful portion of disgusting McDonald's style Fries rather than hand-cut chips - 13.50 "Skye Black" Braised Steak & Beef Cheek Pie - £15.50- tasty enough but HUNT THE MEAT in a big dish of gravy. Sadly the standard was so poor it would stop me returning. I do not mind paying for good food, however I do get fed up paying over the odds for food I could make better in the house. Bring back traditional pub cooks.

Had some food and drinks on a cold December Tuesday. The burger was good but a bit pink. Lucky I like it that way but imagine a few people being put off. It was about £15 so on the pricey side with a small portion of chips. For that price they could chuck on more chips especially with the bars round the corner being a lot cheaper. Chicken wings were poor. About £7 for 5 very thin wings. Not well cooked and meager. Avoid. Overall for a quiet night service was slow and food average and expensive. It's a nice old bar but if you want atmosphere The State round the corner is better and the food at Spoons is better and cheaper.

Called for dinner before going to the theatre . Young Australian girl that served us was very polite and super efficient. The gammon steak was advertised with " a crispy egg " I asked if it would be possible to have it without the crispy egg , poached egg rolled on panko breadcrumbs and deep fried . The waitress returned and said no ....so I ordered the chicken goujons. The waitress then came back and said the chef says they can do a normal fried egg . So I happily ordered the gammon steak . Unfortunately it came with a deep fried egg that was crispy . The cook obviously has learning difficulties and unable to cook a fried egg . I ate the chips and , what turned out to be a butterfly cutlet . When the waitress cleared the table I asked if she could point out to the cook that that is not how you serve an egg with "gammon" .

As many reviewers have stated the proximity of this pub so close to The Kings theatre makes it an ideal place to go for a pre-theatre meal. It's a listed building and has all the charm you'd expect of a pub built at the beginning of the 20th Century. It's warm, welcoming, comfortable and it delivers that feel that only a real pub can do. The food is decent. The service friendly and efficient. Price is reasonable given the quality of fayre on offer and its location. The sound system could be doing with an upgrade though. We'd happily return the next time we're in for a show at The Kings and would have no hesitation popping in just for a drink of a Saturday afternoon, or evening.

This was sold to me as a quiet place but a matinée performance at a nearby theatre had just finished so The Griffin was rammed but no problem with that. Four of us visited and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The Griffin has a separate restaurant area so between us we ordered Macaroni and Cheese, Chicken Goujons, Gammon Steak and Venison and Wild Mushroom pie. Everyone cleared their plates. Service was great as well and we were allowed to order another round of drinks after we had finished our meals. Only slight downside is that I'm not a fan of Skye Ales.

Absolutely impossible service, the bartender doesn't care at all. Was already annoyed when we came in. It has to be said that this bar is suggested to be part of the Euro Hostel, its bar area, so to speak. Normally I wouldn't care otherwise. But then, on the evening in question, the kitchen remained cold and it was not possible to order anything to eat - but when one of the group got a snack, the bartender got upset and basically threw him out. No “hello” beforehand, absolutely in a bad mood, but suddenly he manages to open his mouth. Ridiculous! There are better bars and pubs everywhere. You don't have to do that.
