Traditional pub located near Charing Cross offering good range of drinks and tasty food in the restaurant area to the back. Good mix of punters and usually has some form of evening entertainment. Good to see it flourishing again - the traditional decor is worth a visit alone.

We booked a table last Sunday to try the roast, and it was easily one of the best pubs I've tried in Glasgow. The space is clean, newly renovated, and decorated elegantly and with attention to detail, and all the tables are adorned with candles and fresh flowers. The staff is very friendly and goes above and beyond, I wish I had asked our waiter's name to mention it here. Everything we tried was delicious, from the beef Sunday roast and the meat pie, to the potatoes au gratin and even the cheesy cauliflower. My sister is now coming to visit and I've already booked us table for this weekend!

Nice traditional pub, which for me was ruined by lack of male toilet facilities. It would appear they have removed 6 male urinals and left just 2 cubicles leading to quick build up of queues in getting to toilet to accommodate a tiny minority that wouldn't be using urinals anyway. Personally witnessed men urinating in sinks citing 'desperate or prostrate issues'. Should swap ladies with gents loo. If this is Griffins way forward. Glad to note from management comment issue has been resolved. I'll update comment after next visit.

Pub was really nice inside. Staff behind the bar were great didn't need to wait to be served. Dont go though if you want to be treated with respect by the manager Lisa Kiloh!! We arrived after a show in the Kings only to have one drink waiting for our taxi to take us and my 83 year old mum home. We sat at a table near the door with 4 stools. Lisa decided that we shouldn't be sitting there as we were blocking people from getting to the door!!! Don't put a table at the door if you don't want people to sit at it. She was rude and obnoxious. Nice pub shame about the manager. Oh and by the way not sure what you said when I left but I'm pretty sure it wasn't as funny as you thought it was.

I was excited to hear The Griffin had opened again... used to be a great pub for a pre- theatre or Sunday hang-over cure. The menu sounds promising, including Vegan options. Sadly the food is not anywhere near the standard of those halcyon days of decent pub grub. I had Dried up, tasteless "Isle of Mull Cheddar" Macaroni cheese served with farm-foods garlic bread - £13 The Vegan Moving Mountains Burger no better than Witherspoons... came with pitiful portion of disgusting McDonald's style Fries rather than hand-cut chips - 13.50 "Skye Black" Braised Steak & Beef Cheek Pie - £15.50- tasty enough but HUNT THE MEAT in a big dish of gravy. Sadly the standard was so poor it would stop me returning. I do not mind paying for good food, however I do get fed up paying over the odds for food I could make better in the house. Bring back traditional pub cooks.

Had some food and drinks on a cold December Tuesday. The burger was good but a bit pink. Lucky I like it that way but imagine a few people being put off. It was about £15 so on the pricey side with a small portion of chips. For that price they could chuck on more chips especially with the bars round the corner being a lot cheaper. Chicken wings were poor. About £7 for 5 very thin wings. Not well cooked and meager. Avoid. Overall for a quiet night service was slow and food average and expensive. It's a nice old bar but if you want atmosphere The State round the corner is better and the food at Spoons is better and cheaper.

Called for dinner before going to the theatre . Young Australian girl that served us was very polite and super efficient. The gammon steak was advertised with " a crispy egg " I asked if it would be possible to have it without the crispy egg , poached egg rolled on panko breadcrumbs and deep fried . The waitress returned and said no ....so I ordered the chicken goujons. The waitress then came back and said the chef says they can do a normal fried egg . So I happily ordered the gammon steak . Unfortunately it came with a deep fried egg that was crispy . The cook obviously has learning difficulties and unable to cook a fried egg . I ate the chips and , what turned out to be a butterfly cutlet . When the waitress cleared the table I asked if she could point out to the cook that that is not how you serve an egg with "gammon" .

As many reviewers have stated the proximity of this pub so close to The Kings theatre makes it an ideal place to go for a pre-theatre meal. It's a listed building and has all the charm you'd expect of a pub built at the beginning of the 20th Century. It's warm, welcoming, comfortable and it delivers that feel that only a real pub can do. The food is decent. The service friendly and efficient. Price is reasonable given the quality of fayre on offer and its location. The sound system could be doing with an upgrade though. We'd happily return the next time we're in for a show at The Kings and would have no hesitation popping in just for a drink of a Saturday afternoon, or evening.

This was sold to me as a quiet place but a matinée performance at a nearby theatre had just finished so The Griffin was rammed but no problem with that. Four of us visited and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The Griffin has a separate restaurant area so between us we ordered Macaroni and Cheese, Chicken Goujons, Gammon Steak and Venison and Wild Mushroom pie. Everyone cleared their plates. Service was great as well and we were allowed to order another round of drinks after we had finished our meals. Only slight downside is that I'm not a fan of Skye Ales.

The mac and cheese was absolutely superb, and at £8 a real bargain when just about everyone else is charging twice the price for meals only half as good. Isle of Skye beer on tap was good. And the music, lots of 1970s new wave and reggae, also did it for me. A great pub

I have been in this bar on a number of occasions but always at night and usually on my way to a gig at one of the many music venues nearby . We had friends visiting from England who were staying in a city center hotel so we decided to take them on a mini pub crawl and the griffin was one I wanted them to see as it always has a nice atmosphere .the staff were nice and friendly . Prices are typical for a city center pub . We managed to get a booth which was great as whenever I've visited before they have been full . We didn't eat here as there are plenty of good restaurants nearby . First time in since it was taken over and it is still a good traditional type of pub

Went to bar on 10/07/23 before a show bought a large Chardonnay and a soda water £10.50 returned the next night bought the same drinks £7.70 spoke to a young bar member and told him what I had paid the night before and the lady who served me was behind the bar. I assume he told her, she came outside where we were sitting and was on the attack her attitude was stinking and proceeded to tell me I was lucky as she only charged me for a small glass of wine the night before, strange I assumed that should have made what she charged me cheaper? Anyway she was not making sense to me seemed to be talking nonsense so I left it at that, went to bar, sone two drinks is now £9.90!!!!! I spoke to manager he decided that they owed me a few pounds and I got that round for five pounds. I just accepted that as I did not want to hold him up any longer but it was not about the money I would still like to know what is the real price for these two drinks and why I got charged three different prices? I can phantom it out, my advice stay alert guys prices seem to change depending who serves you, I won’t be returning it left a bad taste
