Land lady is a complete fruit loop, beware! She will involve you in family arguments, drag you into things that are not your concern and then blame you for getting involved even though you've told her not to involve you!

We recently stayed the night in the Greyhound Inn in Stogursey, Somerset with other family members on our way to Devon, and was really impressed with everything. The accommodation was absolutely wonderful, the beds and pillows were extremely comfortable. The family who runs it were warm and welcoming, and the food was fantastic, absolutely five stars all the way. Next time we are in the UK we would love to revisit. Keep up the great work.

I visited a friend who’s just moved to the village and we decided to visit this pub. It is a lovely pub and we both agreed that the Carlsberg was one of the best pints we’ve ever had. There was a lot of good natured banter between us and the regulars, but this was ruined by the landlady who, out of the blue, turned on us and ruined what was a fantastic night. I’m still floored as to why as I don’t believe we were loud or offensive.

Gerry and Rachael run a very good locals pub here in Stogursey. Lots of visitors from all over are welcomed here. We had pub made fish and chip beer battered cod. One with salad, one with chips. The cod was very fresh. The batter was light, crispy and flavourful. Chips were crisp the salad varied with coleslaw, lovely. I had an enjoyable cold inexpensive chardonnay. A wonderful friendly locals pub with great pub grub.

After a long journey I had a well cooked rump steak with chips, mushrooms. The Butcombe beer and friendly welcome makes you feel at home. The next day i had a generous roast beef Sunday lunch with a glass of merlot. Great service always and fantastic value for money. Rachel & Gerry the owners deliver on all fronts.

As we were staying in the area for a couple of days we decided to try the local. The pub is very friendly and has plenty of areas for eating or just enjoying a drink. There are plenty of local ales to try and a lovely traditional pub menu. The atmosphere was very friendly and we found the locals nice to chat to. We will definately return next time we are this way.

We stayed locally to Stogursey for a week with our two dogs in a cottage. Visited and ate here four times during the week including Sunday lunch, tried a couple of other pubs and they were dumps, dirty and no atmosphere. We were made very welcome on every occasion, dog friendly, good beer, typical pub food at reasonable prices which was very edible, spotlessly clean with excellent interior fixtures and fittings. Although a village pub and not really on the tourist trail the locals are extremely friendly and welcoming. If you are staying in striking distance of Stogursey this is the place to Eat and drink.

Stopped in for a drink while passing through village on a Saturday afternoon. Large range of bees and ciders available. Pass through the super low front door and into the deceptively large pub! There was a restaurant side and a more traditional bar side, both of which looked welcoming and cosy. Staff very welcoming. Sat outside in the beer garden, and there is a play area for kids out back. Also a sports bar and private function room. Can’t vouch for food as only drinking. Looked like there were lots of events happening eg bingo, karaoke, quiz.

Food was very average. Butchers Sausage and mash special in a Yorkshire pud with rich Gravy was hugely disappointing. Suspect aunt Bessie, bisto instant and Richmond were involved, some just thrown in the oven or fryer straight from the freezer. Not much evidence of real cooking here and cheap ingredients used. Second meal was a little better but cheap frozen chips accompanied a half decent gammon. Also Friday night was pretty boisterous with drunken behaviour and foul language in front of diners with young children at only 7pm. Won't go back here and not recommended for families.

We were staying at the castle and nearly gave the Greyhound a miss, but we're glad we didn't. The website we found said it no longer did food, but there were recent good TripAdvisor reviews and the website looked out of date, so we gave it it a try as it was so close to the castle and the only pub in the village. (The website is the previous owner's and the new landlord is struggling close it.)

So I had heard people talking about the food at the greyhound and how nice it was. So booked a table for 4 on a Saturday night. A small seating area but a lovely cosy atmosphere. The waitresses took our order and was very polite and welcoming. Ordered king prawns with garlic. Wow they were delicious. Our mains consisted of sea bass, steak and lamb. Couldn't find a fault in any dish. My brother and partner said the lamb was amazing, and my partner steak was cooked to perfection. My sea bass was also fabulous and the cockle sauce really complimented the meal. Compliments to the chef....Can't wait to try the carvery.

Stopped in for a drink when passing through the village in mid Jan 2016 - saw the sign from the road that goes through the village. Was mid/late afternoon but a fair crowd of locals were present along with the barmaid and all were welcoming/friendly.Beer was Doom Bar (not my favourite brew - a bit too bland) and Courage Best - which is good these days. That plus a pot of Earlr Grey tea. A nice break.Pub is cosy and warm. Didn't eat there but there was professional looking chef present.Give it a try!

On arrival we were instantly made to feel welcomed by the waitress; this continued throughout the whole time we were there. The Sunday lunch was amazing. We were given the choice of 3 meats; all cooked perfectly and generous portions. There was a great selection of vegetables; again all cooked to perfection. My two young children couldn't get enough of the roast potatoes. The chef catered for all and nothing seemed to be a problem (one fussy family member chose not to have a roast but something different from the menu). The overall experience and food was amazing. It's great value for money and generous portion. The waitress and chef seemed to make a great team as the service was quick, nothing was too much trouble and they both made us feel welcomed. We will definitely be recommending it to others and going back again.

4.5 stars on booking.com but certainly doesn't live up to that. Pre booked for four nights on the strength of that and the fact it was claimed it was recently refurbished. However, less of a refurbishment and more of painting and papering over the cracks but the paint and paper were definitely not applied well enough to last. No double glazing and our room over the bar so no quiet until after midnight. Oh, and overlooking a main road so not a lot of sleep. Definitely not clean either and an interesting incline in the room floor. Checked out after one night. Whilst this was only £60 per night I believe it is reasonable to expect better than this.

My wife and I, visited the pub, for dinner. one Friday evening! w=We should have known better, when the place was deserted , bar 1 other couple! I ordered a 16oz steak, which on inspection was tough and inedible (my dog even turned her nose up), and my wife food was not up to standard either, slow service, when we and 1 more couple were in there!!!! for £43 we paid, poor show! Be warned!

Recently staying at a holiday let I was given directions to the nearest pub (3/4 Mile away) and after quite a hike I found the Greyhound, I walked into a small bar area but no one behind the bar and it was some time before someone appeared, whilst it was very well priced beer it had no atmosphere that would make me want to stay for a few more. The staff seemed more interested in looking after the locals having lunch, such a pity as they don't know how much I would have spent and potentially came back with my family.

A sparkling jewel tucked away in the heart of West Somerset. The Greyhound Inn in Stogursey offers a tasty alternative to the rugby scrums and jammed car parks of other culinary venues in Somerset. The new husband and wife management team have performed a small miracle with this neglected village Inn. The food was of a high standard and well presented. The bar has a good selection of beers and cider as well as various classic wines. All in all a very pleasant gastronomic experience, well done the Greyhound.

A lovely traditional pub. Booked ahead & were told the 2 of us could be 'fitted in' but most tables empty while we were there. Good service from young barmaid but landlord didn't acknowledge our arrival even with a look. Sunday roast was huge & hot & delicious, great choice of veg & biggest Yorkshire pud I've ever seen. Spoiled only by the copious gravy being beef flavour for both of us, would have been nicer to have had matching chicken gravy with mine. Very good value, and we came home with a generous doggy bag.
