Beautiful area and stunning pub, but on arrival we made our way to the pub garden at the rear of the pub. Despite being greeted by two members of staff and shown to a table we waiting 20 minutes without any service as it is table service only (which is a really disappointing fad within the pub trade). We only wanted a quick refreshing drink whilst admiring the views. There was also a service/bar area in the garden, but we were twice ignored by the garden staff who were generally just standing around trying to look busy. One gentleman did approach us to take our order but mentioned something about food being ordered to our table (which there wasn't) and disappeared never to be seen again. We then tried our luck inside and again we just waited in the entrance hall to the pub and were ignored again. After around 30 minutes in total we left. Terrible service for what could be a wonderful pub with views of the castle. Very disappointing experience.

Upon entering we were ‘greeted’ by a very unfriendly member of staff who said ‘what do you want’ in a very rude tone. Not a good start, we considered having a meal, but decided to just have a coffee. The younger members of staff were polite. On leaving I went to the bar to pay to be completely ignored until the bartender who was busy serving others noticed and apologised. Two others were behind the bar at the time talking to each other (one of them was our greeter). Atmosphere was frigid/cold and uninviting.

Nice pub and location but sadly that's the only good points. Food was more the standard of a fast food establishment and expensive. Service was mediocre and the bit that ensures we won't be back is the automatic add of a service charge. Felt like blackmail to have to pay it. Pay your staff accordingly and make visitors aware at point of ordering.

The waiters were fantastic, they had all under control and the service provided was on point. Unfortunately, the food did not match them. We ordered blue cheese croquettes and they did not have any flavour, we were not able to taste the blue cheese at all. In addition, the plate had only three. It was a Sunday and we wanted the local lamb Sunday roast, the lamb was served as slices, two of them and they were not properly cooked. It was raw in some areas and burnt and dry in others. I wouldn't recommend it.

Not bad I came in here a year ago. All was great. In a year it’s changed. Very disappointed with the menu. Starters are quirky and all a bit odd. Went for something different which was the little almond cake balls for starters. I mean how much cash for the smallest little balls, 3! 3 of them. 10p size!! Surrounded by green leaves. The balls were just ok. But 3 is extremely poor for the high price! Others starters of humus and 4 tiny pieces of bread to dip in. Again pricy!! Other 2 diners said theirs ok. Mains….. if you like pizza or burgers then you’re fine. Main meals otherwise are again very odd. Fish and chips a classic. The rest I struggled with. So went with the half roast chicken, chips and salad. My mother had the same, no chips, can she get veg. Nope you can have more salad! So far too much salad on my plate! Let alone she got it twice! So much cash for a load of salad!! Maybe do veg or salad. The chicken was good. Couldn’t cut it though!! Bunged on top of the chips. So really hard to cut with a knife and fork! So not impressed with that. Don’t do it! Why put it on top?! Maybe offer some pub classics along side burgers and pizza! Pies, shepherds pie, lasagna. So shame I had to have chicken as not a lot else to have. Other diners enjoyed their burgers. Dessert??? Rock hard churros! I mean how can you ruin them?? Small and hard, boiling hot so just been quickly put in fryer, already cooked hours ago! So these were so hard and dry. Luckily the chocolate sauce helped to get the hard churros down. The place looks dirty. Needs a clean. There was 5 of us. The menus are sticky! Filthy, when you are going to eat knowing the menus have been handled by ppl. Give them a clean! The area where the table number was. Filthy. Won’t be back. No way worth the cash. Not good enough for the price

Highly recommend booking if you anticipate dining here. Limited space inside the building itself, there is lots of space in the garden or pavement areas. Not so good in heavy rain. We sat at one of the offered tables and we're just left there with nobody attending to us....we noticed most of the umbrella seats were empty and couldn't understand why we were unable to buy a pint at the bar and take it to a seat of our own choosing....very bad experience, been using Greyhound many years during holidays.....Other pubs in Corfe have no such restrictions and we'll be using those in future

Food was ok, although wouldn't recommend the shared meze as being good value for money at £32 for salad, chips and some falafels. The fish was also a bit soggy in the batter and my son only managed half of it on that basis. The spicy wings and burgers went down well though. An issue when booking was that we were placed outside but the pub didnt tell us this and if we'd known, we wouldn't have proceeded with the booking. By the time we arrived and were told we'd be outside, it was too late to book anywhere else. The pub did have blankets though so we wrapped ourselves up. The waiting staff were lovely so that was a redeeming feature. Overall, the food was ok but not worth the price IMHO.

Another staff member approached when we'd finished our meal amd asked if we wanted the dessert menu. We said no so she said right ill get you the bill. As if they wanted us to leave. ! Be mindful: adds 10% “optional” charge on bills!!!! Enjoyed having dinner here although it was served within 2 minutes after ordering, a bit suspicious. We were happy customers until we received the bill: a10% service charge was added ALREADY. Yes as pointed out by management in reply to other reviews here the staff mentions it and says it is optional. It does not feel like that though when the piece of paper is already in front of you. This is a total scam. Just increase your prices with 10% if your staff “deserves” it. Too bad and we did not leave as happy customers because of this!

The food was delicious but the portion size does not reflect in the price. For example, the muscles (£19.50) not being near enough on their own (although being described by the waiter as a “decent size”) - two sides of fries had to be ordered and it still was not substantial. The hot dog, was a jarred store bought and was not worth the price. The pavlova, so sour and un-enjoyable & the panna cotta was so tiny and also does not reflect the price. There were multiple servers, creating a lack of personal touch, for example the gentleman who took our order, we never saw again. Now, the bill. The receipt showed an “optional” 10% service charge (confirmed by the waiter) when we agreed as a group due to the portion sizes and lack of personal touch in the service that we would not be paying the 10% and would rather pay an agreed amount in cash, we were then questioned by the staff as to why not. When we left the restaurant, no one said goodbye much to our efforts. This visit has made us feel guilty for not paying the “optional” service charge. Unfortunately, we will not be revisiting.

Considering I am local, went in to this pub, haven't been for years, and stood at the bar to order a soft drink for me, and a glass of wine for a friend, I was driving.....and asked of any light hot food or sandwhich, but the girl serving behind the bar said no, no sandwhiches, no hot food ie a toasted sandwhich etc, but we presumed something hot may be of been available, but told no, we were told we could go outside, we couldnt sit in the pub as every table apart from those with people eating there already was reserved, so were wondering what to do as we did not want to go outside, as its cold and spitting with rain off and on, so a member of the staff overheard and said we could sit at a 2 chair/ table reserved until the people came in. So we couldnt really stand at the bar, as not what we wanted to do, couldnt sit anywhere for long. Felt like we were in the way.. Everywhere reserved for people to come in and eat,.. All she offered were a packet of crisps. We stayed about 15 mins or so, then left. Cold atmosphere from the staff.. Never going in there again.

Went in last night for a drink, 9.05pm. Manager looking person advised you shut at 10pm. Said ok to go to bar. We got to the bar and a member of staff said ‘one drink only’ very abruptly. We were confused at first as that was all he said, no hello, no politeness. We said that we were told we could have drinks as you close at 10pm (manager type person had dissapeared by this point), Barman said ‘well I’ve already closed down the pumps’ abruptly. He then proceeded to put the pourer back on the Madri pump and poured the drinks. At 9.40pm, he came out to the garden and just said ‘right you got 3 mins to drink up and leave’. So we did. There was still another table outside with people on but we left anyway via the pub. When we got to the front door it was bolted from the inside which shouldn’t be locked until all patrons have left due to fire regs. If you are trying to commit business suicide you are succeeding. The barman belonged on a door outside a club in town not in a village pub where manners are required. Bad management decision taking him on and seems like as you are closing at 10pm, patrons are scarse. I wonder why.

Absolutely wonderful! My sister and I recently visited while camping in the area and we fancied lunch after mooching about the Castle. We arrived and sat in the beautiful outdoor seating area (gorgeous views!) with our two dogs, both of whom were warmly welcomed. Alex took our order for drinks and food and he was so sweet and knowledgeable. I'm not exaggerating even a little when I say that Alex arrived back with our drinks 3-4 minutes later and, maybe 2-3 mins after that, so did our food! I've never had such friendly and insanely fast service -- and the place was pretty busy, too! It wasn't just us - our neighbouring table explained that they come here often and it's always that good. To top it off, the food was sooo delicious and I wolfed it down. I'm gutted that I don't live closer, because I'd be here all the time if I did! Can't speak highly enough of this place, it was such a gem to find and ended our camping trip on a perfect high. Shout out to Alex for being such a gem! I hope to return in future :)

Sunday lunch was not good. Tough meat, soft and salty roast potatoes, hard parsnips and overpowering spiced red cabbage. The cost of the meal was quite a lot more than we usually pay in other pubs/restaurants and a service charge was added to the bill.

In and out in an hour. Great for us. Fantastic food. Recommended the Brisket bun. Really friendly welcoming and pooch friendly.

My meal of sausage was fine, my husband has chicken schnitzel with pickled red cabbage but the cabbage was far too vinegary to eat without getting heartburn! He said it tasted like an average jar of pickle poured into a bowl. Either serve as a condiment or go easy on the vinegar and serve more like a vegetable sidedish?

I took my 92 year old mother and another family member to the Greyhound for Sunday lunch. What an amazingly friendly pub. The staff were excellent from the moment they took our orders to the time we paid the bill. We all had Sunday roast of either Beef, Lamb or Chicken. Beware the portions are large so you need to be very hungry. If you want to eat in the main bar area it is probably best to book.

It was our first night in Dorset and we came across the Greyhound Inn and we were so pleasantly surprised! It was a lovely, cosy but modern space. The staff were brilliant, the food was incredible - would definitely recommend the pie of the day! Lovely meal, if we were here longer we'd be back again!

Food was delicious and staff were very friendly. Thank you! I’d highly recommend the vegetarian panini minus the salad and replaced with chunky chips instead. My daughter loved the children’s ham toastie. Lovely portions!

We booked lunch at the Greyhound for Easter Sunday, after visiting Corfe Castle. I can honestly say it’s the the best roast dinner I’ve ever had!

We swung in to Corfe to find a place to eat and found the Greyhound. They were really busy but found us a table. The service was exceptional!! The food was amazing!! Were still talking about it. I'm Coliac but the menu was GF adaptive, so unlike where I am often restricted to a couple of things on the menu, eating out, the Greyhound had so much choice, it was really great. Me and my partner enjoyed the food and ambience enough, that we are planning a return very soon. It's also dog friendly, which gave it a lovely relaxed and country feel. Highly recommend.

We just had one of the best roasts we've ever eaten! The Greyhound on Easter Sunday was busy, the staff were friendly, service was quick, and the food was top notch. Great portions sizes and really beautifully cooked. Even our fussy 9 Yr old was happy! Totally worth the price, highly recommend!

We’ve eaten here twice while at Corfe Castle. Once we had a lovely half roast chicken between 2 in the courtyard on a sunny day - it was brilliant. And today, we were rescued by a lovely member of staff who went out of their way to seat us at an otherwise rammed restaurant, when our 6 year old was losing their mind (& we were on the verge of losing ours). Food is always great and service faultless

Haven’t been for a long time. Decided to meet some family who were holidaying in the area and was not disappointed. Will definitely be back as food and service was on point. We had mixed grills which were advertised at 24oz and certainly met that with high quality well cooked meats. The chunky chips were crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside. My wife said the lasagne was one of the best she has had. So whilst we haven’t been here for years l, we will be changing that to revisit again soon!

We have recently attended two Sunday carveries under the new management. Our first experience was the trial carvery day and the second was two weeks later. We enjoyed the first carvery (the meat and potatoes being particularly good), but some of the vegetables on that occasion weren't so good. However, our second carvery food experience was markedly better. The turkey, beef and gammon joints were all well-cooked, the meats were succulent and tender and the portions generous. On the second occasion, the vegetables were also well cooked and there was a good selection. The staff are friendly and pleasant, but the ‘front of house’ could be better organised, although to be fair one member of staff said that they were trying different “meet and greet” options on the day. Hopefully this will also improve as experience is gained. After seeing very mixed reviews since the pub changed hands earlier this year, it is great to see a good carvery returning to the village. Give it a try and help support your local pub. We will definitely be back.

Lovely food, once again. The omelettes were piping hot and delicious, and absolutely fresh. I know they were not scrimped, as they were crisp on the outside and deliciously runny on the inside. Lots of love to you all xxxx :)
