We had a wonderful evening for my birthday. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners and staff and they are attentive , friendly, and welcoming. The attention to detail from the decor , table decorations, food and plates, is second to none. The tasting menu was amazing and every course was delicious. Thank you to all of the staff for a memorable evening. It’s not our first and won’t be our last.

Lovely service and atmosphere! Unfortunately I arrived 20 minutes before closing time at lunch and found the kitchen closed already, slightly odd. That said the manager was kind enough to offer nibbles that were very good. I'll have to come back for the full experience and hopefully the 5th star.

We had dinner here on a Wed. It was our first time there. It was our anniversary and all the team signed a card which was on our table, which was a nice touch. It was busy, but the staff were amazing and attentive. It isn't a massive menu, but each dish was perfect. After our meal the manager showed us round the restaurant and introduced us to the chef! Would definitely recommend d and will hopefully be coming back again when we are near Beaconsfield.

On Saturday night my wife and I enjoyed another absolutely splendid dinner at this truly outstanding restaurant. We have been many times and it always delivers; the consistency is remarkable. We enjoyed interesting and innovative snacks (especially the BBQ pork belly) with our aperitifs whilst the imaginative crab starter was thoroughly enjoyed by my wife. The smoked haddock, with a creamy kedgeree sauce, is delicious. My wife had the succulent local pheasant (not an easy achievement with such a lean bird) with pomme boulangere, stuffed cabbage, a delicious pear puree and a lovely creamy sauce. The venison pie, comprising a rich ragu encased in a delicate pastry case and served with silky smooth buttery pomme puree with a rich sauce, is also outstanding. My delicate and fluffy prune souffle, with prune and Armagnac ice cream, was sensational but my wife, sadly, had no room for a dessert! To finish the meal we had freshly brewed coffee (with complimentary home made petit fours) served, as always, in English fine bone china. The Greyhound is a lovely seventeenth century coaching inn and, although tastefully and elegantly refurbished, retains so much of its rustic charm, I do think it is a real pity that "pub" is included in the restaurant`s title particularly as it precedes "and dining" This conveys a misleading impression and has lead to a number of food critics (most of whom should know better) to describe it as an outstanding gastropub. It is undoubtedly outstanding but it is a fine dining restaurant and not a gastropub. It is true that guests can enjoy a relaxing drink in the attached cosy bar or, in Summer, in the delightful garden and choose not to eat but that is not its raison d"etre. It is, first and foremost, a quality fine dining restaurant (with not the slightest hint of pretentousness) which happens to have a bar/casual area, not the other way round. The Greyhound on Saturday night once again met the challenging task of finding the right balance in every department. The attention to detail is amazing. The hands-on husband/wife owners, Dan and Margriet, who both gained their experience and honed their expertise in Michelin starred restaurants before opening The Greyhound five years ago, oversee the wonderful service. This is provided by a happy, highly motivated, helpful and knowledgeable team, and is a perfect cocktail. It is professional but warm, attentive but not intrusive, efficient but relaxed, friendly but not familiar. The interesting and imaginative menu embraces meat, fish, vegetarian and vegan dishes and offers diners a choice of a la carte, tasting, vegetarian tasting and vegan tasting whilst a fantastic value lunch menu is also provided . The lovely dishes are prepared to order by a very talented head chef and his team with top quality ingredients and are beautifully cooked and presented. The award winning wine list is impressive and there is a welcome wide range of wines by the glass. Portion sizes are perfect but don`t go mistakenly (see earlier!) expecting enormous "hearty pub grub" servings. However, I promise, you will leave entirely satiated . Unfortunately, we do not always have room for one of their enticing desserts! We were last night treated, as usual, and alongside our ordered dishes, to warm home made bread, herb favoured butter, three amuse bouche between courses and home made petit fours, all of which were complimentary. The atmosphere in the restaurant reflects another lovely balance between rustic charm, warmth and taste The Greyhound also scores highly on that very important matter of value. For a fine dining restaurant, providing such an outstanding dining experience in all its aspects, the prices, though unsurprisingly not at the cheaper end of the spectrum, are far from excessive and represent exceptional value. The seating is well spaced so you can experience the warm atmosphere of the restaurant but still enjoy a degree of privacy. That was certainly the case on Saturday even though the restaurant was full. To maintain the high quality of the dining experience, Margriet and Dan have never, to their great credit, countenanced offering more than one sitting so you never feel rushed (a pet hate of mine when dining). After your meal you can, if you wish, enjoy a tour of the restaurant including the kitchen and garden (in daylight hours!) where they grow many of their ingredients. This has been a fairly lengthy review but there are so many good things to say about this place and I am only sharing my experience and speaking as I have found. Don`t just take my view but read all the others. It is difficult to see anything on which they could improve. The restaurant, Margriet, Dan and individuals in the team all proud recipients of hospitality awards so It came as no surprise to learn that The Greyhound was recently awarded its biggest accolade yet, "Best Restaurant in England 2024" by the AA. As a number of reviewers have said, a Michelin star is long overdue. I want to spread the message to discerning diners and encourage them to visit this gem (a polished diamond springs to mind) that they have in their midst. You might (although it is by no means certain) encounter an overall similar dining experience at a (pretentious?) 3 star Michelin restaurant in London costing £300 or more per head but, I can assure you, it will not be better than The Greyhound where it will cost you a lot less. Visit and you will see what I mean; you will not be disappointed..

We had an excellent evening, the service was first class ( even to having some ready reader glasses available as I had forgotten mine) and the food was superb. My wife is a coeliac and extremely sensitive to gluten. The Greyhound catered for her in a most reassuring way, to the extent the chef came and talked to her personally. We cannot recommend the Greyhound highly enough. We shall definitely be returning.

We really enjoyed our meal here. It was a last minute decision, but we were totally blown away. The food was very ambitious, and often done well, but the staff to open to feedback when we felt there was room for improvement. We were looked after by the wonderful Natalie - we found out later that she has only been there for a few months, but her passion, knowledge and loyalty to the restaurant would have you thinking she'd been there for years. We were so well looked after and we loved the tour of the kitchen and the grounds. We will definitely be back to see how well the level of ambition had been maintained and hopefully also to be looked after by Natalie again. We can highly recommend a dinner here! We had the tasting menu and left feeling very full and very satisfied. The highlight was definitely the prune soufflé with Armagnac anglaise. Out of this world. Yum. Can't wait to come back!

Wow! I’m not often lost for words but this was a truly outstanding meal. The waitress, Natlalie, was helpful, efficient, professional and extremely friendly throughout the whole dining experience. We started with the beetroot, the crab & the haddock, I had seen numerous reviews as to how good the haddock was and was keen to order this but Natalie explained that the Dorset crab was new to the menu and was very good which swayed me. My friend had the haddock and we swapped 1/2 way through each dish. I honestly couldn’t separate them for quality, the crab was the best I have ever tasted and the haddock was equally impressive with the caviar. Both dishes were exceptional! My other friend had the beetroot serving which she said was delicious. For mains, 3 of us had the fish of the day (cod) and my wife had the venison pie, all were excellent! In between courses we were served a few amuse bouches which were equally delicious as the served food. The wine ( Marlborough Sauvignon. Blanc) was very good and went perfectly with the fish dishes. The staff were informative and attentive without being overbearing. The desserts were really good with two of us having the cheesecake, one the chocolate mousse and the other having the lemon meringue. All in all it was a fabulous Michelin worthy starred meal and as good a meal as I can remember. We will most certainly return, if we can get a booking!

A most enjoyable experience in one of Beaconsfield’s most historic coach houses. Everything is there with a wonderfully charming and historic interior with outdoor seating on a beautifully kept garden and terrace. The food, their service, the local beer - in fact everything is to a standard which is simply impeccable. There is a certain rush and feel from staff they want to maintain this incredibly high standard but how can I fault that. I can’t, but the discipline is in my eyes there… I probably would not be trying to find so many positive words to say about the place if it wasn’t.

I cannot recommend The Greyhound in Beaconsfield enough! My boyfriend and I made the trip from London, and it was hands down the best dining experience we’ve ever had. What really made it special was the lovely touch of Lauren taking the time to give us a tour and share the history of the pub — that personal attention is what drove me to write this review. The hospitality was unmatched, and I would come back again just for that level of service. Lauren even took us out to see the herb and vegetable garden at the back, where they grow fresh ingredients used in the dishes. Such a thoughtful detail that truly elevated the entire meal. The food itself was exceptional, delicious from start to finish. This has easily become my new favorite restaurant, and I’m sure we’ll be making more trips here just to experience it again. Thank you for making it so memorable!

Came for my birthday in July. Thought I'd already left a review but apparently not. We all had a great time, the gluten free options were fab, had amazing service being shown around the place after our meal, everyone seemed to really enjoy working there and took great pride in their work. I was given a birthday card signed by the team which was a nice touch. The food was top to bottom fantastic with great flavour range, surprisingly it wasn't ridiculously expensive for such a high level dinner and we will as such be able to come back again next time we have something to celebrate. The recent awards are well deserved and this place should be high on your list of places to visit if you're in the area or just passing through

It is our go to place for anniversary and birthday dinners because it feels like an occasion to go there. Their menu is like no other and focus is on good quality ingredients, some of which they grow themselves. The people are warm and so knowledgeable, happily telling you about any dish or wine you want to know more about. The dishes on the menu are fabulous but it’s the service and care that make them shine above other restaurants. Their outdoor area is beautiful and indoors feels cosy but far from cramped. Came to the Greyhound last month to celebrate my partners work promotion and wanted a good local restaurant experience. All the dishes on the A La Carte menu looked great, but there was also a tasting menu available. We both had to dine from the same menu and as she wanted the tasting menu, that's what we went with. The tasting menu had six courses, option for a seventh truffle course at additional cost. In between certain courses, there were amuse bouche and other small surprises. The tasting menu can also accommodate both vegetarian and vegan dietary requirements. The food was incredible in both presentation and taste. I experienced foods I'd never tried before, and probably would have never ordered, such as pigeon breast, or cured gurnard - which were both enjoyable and I now know the taste and texture. The big stand out dishes for me: - Bread and butter. The warm brioche loaf and salted butter was simple but so moreish. This wasn't one of the courses, but made an impact. - Ajo Blanco, not only delicious, but being the first course it set high expectations on the presentation. - Roasted Halibut, usually I'm not a fan of lemongrass but it really fit the dish. The fish was beautifully cooked. - The dessert, a deconstructed strawberry shortcake was mind boggling. So many textures, so many flavours. I will say I've never had a dining experience like this. I do not go to many Michelin listed restaurants so it could be standard, but there were staff who bought the food from the kitchen for final quality inspection. They didn't speak, and could be standing there waiting for 2 - 3 minutes waiting for another member of staff to take the dishes from them - these members staff bought you the food and imparted detailed knowledge on the ingredients and taste profiles. At one point my partner went to the restroom and the food was bought out, the dish was explained to me and a cloche was put on my partners disk until she returned and then received the same explanation of the dish. The thought and standards made the meal feel personnel. This was accentuated at the end of the meal when we were given a tour and history of the restaurant, kitchen, and garden where a lot of their ingredients are grown. I highly recommend the Greyhound. Their menu changes with the seasons and guarantees new options available when you visit. It is an expensive meal out, but I left feeling like I got every penny worth.

In an area of villages with great and renowned restaurants (Bray, Cookham, Marlow, etc) the Greyhound in Beaconsfield remains a beacon of quality and fun. While the food is incredible - interesting blends, unusual flavours (Cardaman, Borage, Lemongrass, etc added when sensible), it is the attitude of staff and front of house who elevate this venue from a top quality meal to a memorable experience. People should not be allowed to be so continually cheerful! There customer service also means that they "remember" dietary requirements, and know the requirements of their normal friends. This time round the pork belly starter was fresh and tasty, and the main course mushroom selection with marmite sauce (yes marmite!) was really tasty. Cheese board came with their baked Parkin, all accompanied by a wine list that is extensive and has bottles for all budgets. As a guide - four people, three course a la carte, and a couple of bottle of wines was just over £100 a head and represented great value

As everyone says the food is excellent. Superbly presented with attention to detail exquisite flavours and high quality ingredients. The different and contrasting flavours were wonderful. The chef, whom we had the pleasure of meeting afterwards, has done a superb job with this Michelin standard restaurant and should be congratulated. It can’t be long until his star officially arrives. The staff were very friendly and the whole restaurant is decorated with style including beautiful cutlery and bone china coffee cups. One small criticism were the portions. The fish portions for example were quite small which is a pity as it was beautifully fresh and cooked to perfection. It would have been nice to have a little more. We were given 5 chips between two of us, why not 6? It would have saved us deciding who should have the last one ( which we finally cut in half!) Small points but hopefully helpful ones. We will return without doubt. Well done and thank you to all concerned.

We had heard through the grapevine that The Greyhound was one of those restaurant to watch out for that could be on the cards to gain its Michelin stars and we were not disappointed. The tasting menu was treat after treat full of incredible food quality that drove elegance throughout each dish. There was something warm hearted about how each dish was served that fine dining tasting menus don’t always offer. More than that the front of house led by Andrew and his incredible waiters were beyond my expectations, no rush out of the door environment, enjoying working in such an iconic 17th century building and each dish presented and taken away with true hospitality and genuine love for the food and fed a culture it’s leadership leads by. On Thursday it was my wifes 70th birthday and we celebrated it with a meal at The Greyhound, Beaconsfield. We have never eaten there before and were a little apprehensive about celebrating such a milestone event at a never tried before hostelry. The attention to detail was exemplary. The service from front of house was equivalent too, if not better than some of the more upmarket hotels I've experienced. Not obtrusive at all, but certainly incredibly attentive throughout our meal. Our waiter became our best friend for the evening being a font of knowledge, explaining the provenance of each major constituent ingredient of our 7 course taster menu like a master craftsman proud of the creation he'd just placed in front of us on our table. The food was a delight ( no, I do not do this justice, each mouthful was a gastronomic experience) and they were more than happy to swap out a couple of courses that would not have been to the taste of our diners. Overall a wonderful experience and although this all comes at a price we felt it was worth every penny. Well done to one an all and a special credit goes to Chef who is clearly a master of his (or her) art of gastronomy.

Amazing restaurant. Easily the best restaurant in Buckinghamshire and one of the best we have ever been to. It is similar food to the Hand and Flowers (2 Michelin stars) but the food is better, the service matches if not exceeds it and we found it all round a nicer experience. Highly recommend. We will be coming back soon! Thank you for a wonderful birthday meal!

I’m not sure about posting this review because it will no doubt make it even more difficult to book a table! This is no ordinary meal at a pub. This is an exceptional experience with exquisite food of the highest quality. From the divine flavours, beautiful crockery, and warm attentive service to the extra delightful touches, this extraordinary lunch will never be forgotten. Indeed this was not really lunch; this was theatre. We left feeling like we’d visited a friend’s home and been utterly spoiled.

What a fabulous place. We visited to celebrate a friends birthday and it did not disappoint. The staff team are all very professional and knowledgeable about the menu and wine list but they're also very warm, welcoming and friendly. The food is exceptional. We had a variety of dishes from both the lunchtime set menu and the a la carte. I personally enjoyed cured bream followed by Loch duart salmon with a miso and caviar cream sauce, all tasty and beautifully presented. There's so much attention to detail, from the personal greetings at the door to the birthday card and special dessert for our friend. We can't wait to return!

Pretty disappointed with the whole experience - will not go back based on our visit on December 28th. Half our party had the sole, half had the steak. Both are extremely pricy considering what you actually receive. Sole: Tasteless, neither of our party ate more than half and we gave this feedback to the staff who questioned why it wasn't eaten Steak: Delicious but incredibly stingy portions. I would estimate you receive at most 3oz of meat. Total cost of meal was around £190 for 4 mains, 2 sides, 5 drinks (2 alcoholic, 3 soft drinks). All 4 of us left still hungry. Service was pretty attentive and that's the best I can say about the place.

Great pub with great service. The owner is a lovely chap and is clearly serious about treating his staff properly which is nice (and rare!) to see in a property. Would have given it a five but some of the food we ordered wasn't available and I wasn't a great fan of the bread and caramel butter that was provided (suspect it was an xmas thing). Food was brave and steered clear of obvious taste tricks like lots of emulsions/sugar/salt etc. All in all a place to be recommended.

I recently had the pleasure of experiencing an exceptional Christmas lunch at The Greyhound Old Beaconsfield, and I couldn't be more impressed. From start to finish, the entire dining experience was nothing short of extraordinary. The front-of-house service was warm, welcoming, and professional, setting the stage for what turned out to be a memorable celebration. The ambiance of the restaurant added to the festive spirit, creating a perfect setting for our special occasion. Now, let's talk about the food—absolutely outstanding! Each course was a culinary masterpiece, surpassing any other dining experience in our local area. The flavours were exquisite, and the presentation was a true feast for the eyes. It's evident that the chefs at The Greyhound Old Beaconsfield take great pride in their craft, and it truly shows in every bite. The Greyhound Old Beaconsfield not only adds charm to our community but sets a standard of excellence that is truly commendable. Where to even start? From the warm welcome upon arriving to the well wishes when departing, the entire experience was perfect. When you walk in, you are immediately enveloped in the warm and cosy fancy farm-style atmosphere and beautiful decor. The staff are incredibly friendly, engaging, very knowledgeable about everything they serve and sincerely interested in their guests. In particular our waiter, Rohit, was amazing with his knowledge about the wines and his absolutely beautiful personality. All the staff seem to be genuinely happy to be working there. The owners, Margriet and Daniel, work just as hard as their staff, serving, clearing tables, having chats with guests, it's almost as if we were having dinner at friends' house instead of a restaurant. The entire team is as authentic as it gets. The food was fabulous as well. What we liked most is that it was all simple, elegant and pure food. The natural flavours of the ingredients were put at display and you could actually taste them, which was a start difference with lots of restaurants where they add so much salt and flavour enhancers, you don't really taste your actually food anymore. Beautifully laid out on different style plates, clearly made by a kitchen staff who love what they do. We recommend this place to all the foodies out there. Including the vegetarians and vegans who have their own entire tasting menu. We will be back! Often ;)

10/10. Fabulous "3 course" lunch on a Saturday at The Greyhound. I think we were given 3 extra mini course, which were all well thought out and presented beautifully. Once again, the dishes had balance, were delightful on the palate and left you fully satisfied and incredibly happy. This could be the gold standard for gastro pubs north of London. Service was friendly and efficient.

Second time we’ve had lunch there and I cannot speak too highly of this fantastic restaurant. In spite of our first visit being about 6 months ago the manager (co-owner?) recognised us today and was most inviting. The 3 of us had the 3 course Christmas menu at £40 each (£35 for 2 courses is an option). In between the imaginatively presented and delicious starters and mains we were given really tasty and original little amuse bouches. All the many staff were charming and attentive in the extreme - constantly refilling our glasses of still and sparkling water - but never intrusive. We had chosen various dishes from the fairly small selections (always a good sign) and all were perfectly cooked, different and delicious. The extensive wine list is not cheap but very diverse. And any visit to the Greyhound must include a visit to the loos. The poshest this side of the Brighton Pavilion. We are now planning our next visit - staff, ambiance, seating, grub just perfect.

The Greyhound has provided the best dining experience I’ve had so far, a lot would need to be done to top it. Atmosphere alone is enough for a great experience, our hosts were attentive and so friendly. Andrew was our main server and was brilliant, may we find another server just like him! Daniel and Margarit (the owners) were there for the full evening, serving and providing amazing stories. We even got a tour of the venue, and you could see just how much time and love they put in to The Greyhound. The food was second to none. Attached is photos we took, though all we wanted to do was dig in. And how amazing to know they grow some produce on site! I’m sort of lost for words on the food, as it was so delicious, there’s nothing more that can be said. Extra - it was a surprise trip for my birthday (a trip from Bath) and at the table they had a card waiting where all the staff had signed it. What a lovely touch, this card will be kept in my keepsake box for life. Thank you The Greyhound for the best evening, and thank you Dan for showing us around - we are flawed by your love and enthusiasm - Sophie & Ollie

We went to the Greyhound for my Wife's Birthday and booked online. Firstly, the welcome and attention to detail was probably the best I've experienced at any restaurant. We were greeted at the door, by our names, they wished my wife happy Birthday, and our table, which was of a great size in a great location, had a Birthday card signed by 18 people! Along with this, were personalised engraved napkin holders. A lovely touch! We went for the tasting menu which was 6 Courses with an optional additional course for a supplement which we shared. There was also several other complimentary courses that came with it. In total I think we had 11! The service was impeccable. Friendly, quick, attentive. Couldn't have done any better. The food was also great, which included dishes we wouldn't have normally ordered, but were all of a very high standard. I would highly recommend this place, especially if its a special occasion.

Sometimes a 4* or 5* rating does not give a true reflection of an experience! As an evening event, a special occasion, I would like to give The Greyhound a 5*. A delicious meal with friendly and efficient service, great surroundings. However, the food was not of a type that everyone would prefer. Even if you don’t order a tasting menu that is the style of the food provided. Aside from what we ordered we were given; a cheese profiterole, a vegetable tart, soda bread with whipped butter, a mini cream tea, marshmallows, chocolates, and chocolates in a box to take home. All very lovely but is that what we signed up for? It depends on your preference. Some people would have eaten the small portions provided for each course in a few mouthfuls, they were more tasting menu size. Surely a larger portion of what we actually ordered ourselves would be better, keep the extras for the tasting menu alone. So, overall we had a lovely evening with delicious food. However the whole presentation might need to be looked at. If you don’t order the tasting menu then perhaps a proper portion of what you actually did order might be more appropriate.

We were visiting Beaconsfield and opted to have dinner at Royal Saracens Head. What a lovely experience we had, it was pretty busy but the staff pr.vided us an outstanding service , hats off for them. I really like my food and I believe my friends as well, as we were satisfied, and stayed there for quite late. It was nice evening, and for sure when back in Beaconsfield , I will visit it again.

Have had some mixed experiences here. Pizzas are generally pretty good, the service is really random. Sometimes they’re on it, other times the young waiters are clueless. Attention to detail on orders, they forgot one of our orders completely! Also later, they forgot to get the drinks we ordered. Just need better training for the waiters, they need to be more attentive. You’re almost there! But you just fall short of 4 stars.
