The Greyhound Enoteca in South Bucks

Visited for lunch for my wedding anniversary and we were treated to exceptional service and incredible dishes, absolutely excellent vegetarian dishes and superb duck confit. Will definitely visit again.

We had heard through the grapevine that The Greyhound was one of those restaurant to watch out for that could be on the cards to gain its Michelin stars and we were not disappointed. The tasting menu was treat after treat full of incredible food quality that drove elegance throughout each dish. There was something warm hearted about how each dish was served that fine dining tasting menus don’t always offer. More than that the front of house led by Andrew and his incredible waiters were beyond my expectations, no rush out of the door environment, enjoying working in such an iconic 17th century building and each dish presented and taken away with true hospitality and genuine love for the food and fed a culture it’s leadership leads by. We finished our night with a little treat to take home for breakfast treat - making the experience go beyond one evening! Thank you so much for making our celebration feel extra special!

I had such a wonderful evening here with my mum - it exceeded all expectations! The food was delicious, all the staff were so kind and attentive, and it had a great vibe (despite it being a Tuesday night when so many restaurants in the area are closed!). They really go above and beyond which was so appreciated - I said we were celebrating a belated Mother’s Day and they mentioned it at the door and also brought out a lovely dessert at the end. There were so many lovely touches throughout the meal. Definitely one of the best places in the local area to celebrate a special occasion. Couldn’t fault it!

I was at The Greyhound on Friday 5 April. A treat for my birthday, and an evening to remember! The food was superb, the atmosphere and ambience second to none. The staff, from the owner Dan down, could not be faulted. Their knowledge and attentiveness was just fabulous. I was with my son, daughter in law, and two grandsons, we all had a wonderful evening. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. Thank you everyone for a magnificent experience.

Wow, I was not expecting this level of culinary and service excellence when I was invited to lunch here. There is a reason this venue has the highest star rating I've seen. This is not a place to go just because you are hungry but every mouthful will be packed with flavour and finesse. Heading back there tomorrow with the wife, she wants to experience it herself. The wife loved it, we're fans! Hay smoked butter, yum. We visited again for a relatives birthday recently and everyone was exceedingly impressed. It's always such a pleasant adventure! 🙂 We love it here. We have never felt so welcome and comfortable. Dan and Margriet have a special talent for delivering so many unparalleled sensory experiences. Celery sorbet, who would have thought?!

Absolutely wonderful birthday celebration experience. It really is fine dining at its finest. The whole team were superbly hospitable. They looked after our every need. Helped navigate a fine selection of wines and paired it well with their food options. And a most memorable evening. A defo recommendation to celebrate a special occasion big or small! On Thursday it was my wifes 70th birthday and we celebrated it with a meal at The Greyhound, Beaconsfield. We have never eaten there before and were a little apprehensive about celebrating such a milestone event at a never tried before hostelry. We shouldn't have been concerned, as it proved to be a wonderful evening, from our initial greeting at the door to us saying a fond farewell to our new hosts after experiencing an exquisite meal. The attention to detail was exemplary. The service from front of house was equivalent too, if not better than some of the more upmarket hotels I've experienced. Not obtrusive at all, but certainly incredibly attentive throughout our meal. Our waiter became our best friend for the evening being a font of knowledge, explaining the provenance of each major constituent ingredient of our 7 course taster menu like a master craftsman proud of the creation he'd just placed in front of us on our table. The food was a delight ( no, I do not do this justice, each mouthful was a gastronomic experience) and they were more than happy to swap out a couple of courses that would not have been to the taste of our diners. Overall a wonderful experience and although this all comes at a price we felt it was worth every penny. Well done to one an all and a special credit goes to Chef who is clearly a master of his (or her) art of gastronomy.

We went to the Greyhound last night to celebrate my wife's birthday. As ever the welcome was warm, the service impecable and the food outstanding. This is easily the best restauarnt in the area.

Amazing restaurant. Easily the best restaurant in Buckinghamshire and one of the best we have ever been to. It is similar food to the Hand and Flowers (2 Michelin stars) but the food is better, the service matches if not exceeds it and we found it all round a nicer experience. Highly recommend. We went for lunch to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary and had an absolutely fantastic experience. We were given a warm welcome and were made to feel like very special guests. I’m not sure about posting this review because it will no doubt make it even more difficult to book a table! This is no ordinary meal at a pub. This is an exceptional experience with exquisite food of the highest quality. From the divine flavours, beautiful crockery, and warm attentive service to the extra delightful touches, this extraordinary lunch will never be forgotten. Indeed this was not really lunch; this was theatre. We left feeling like we’d visited a friend’s home and been utterly spoiled.

What a fabulous place. We visited to celebrate a friends birthday and it did not disappoint. The staff team are all very professional and knowledgeable about the menu and wine list but they're also very warm, welcoming and friendly. The food is exceptional. We had a variety of dishes from both the lunchtime set menu and the a la carte. I personally enjoyed cured bream followed by Loch duart salmon with a miso and caviar cream sauce, all tasty and beautifully presented. There's so much attention to detail, from the personal greetings at the door to the birthday card and special dessert for our friend. We can't wait to return!

Pretty disappointed with the whole experience - will not go back based on our visit on December 28th. Half our party had the sole, half had the steak. Both are extremely pricy considering what you actually receive. Sole: Tasteless, neither of our party ate more than half and we gave this feedback to the staff who questioned why it wasn't eaten Steak: Delicious but incredibly stingy portions. I would estimate you receive at most 3oz of meat. Total cost of meal was around £190 for 4 mains, 2 sides, 5 drinks (2 alcoholic, 3 soft drinks). All 4 of us left still hungry. Service was pretty attentive and that's the best I can say about the place.

Great pub with great service. The owner is a lovely chap and is clearly serious about treating his staff properly which is nice (and rare!) to see in a property. Would have given it a five but some of the food we ordered wasn't available and I wasn't a great fan of the bread and caramel butter that was provided (suspect it was an xmas thing). Food was brave and steered clear of obvious taste tricks like lots of emulsions/sugar/salt etc. All in all a place to be recommended.

We arrived quite late and hadn’t booked and didn’t fancy our chances just before Christmas. But still received the best welcome and were able to get a table that had just been cleared. Superb food as always with the best service. Absolutely my favourite restaurant.

Fantastic birthday dinner for the missus. The food (tasting menu) was awesome and the service matched. Amazing hospitality with everyone being professional but genuinely friendly and warm. Would highly recommend and we'll definitely be returning soon! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The food and service here are just amazing. If you have not been you are missing out. Dan & Margriet run an amazing experience here and each and every member of staff are friendly, engaging and polite. Big shout outs to Andi, Hannah and Roit. From the home made bread and home made butter to all the attention to details, you won’t be disappointed or hungry after a visit here :) I just wish I lived around the corner.

Where to even start? From the warm welcome upon arriving to the well wishes when departing, the entire experience was perfect. When you walk in, you are immediately enveloped in the warm and cosy fancy farm-style atmosphere and beautiful decor. The staff are incredibly friendly, engaging, very knowledgeable about everything they serve and sincerely interested in their guests. In particular our waiter, Rohit, was amazing with his knowledge about the wines and his absolutely beautiful personality. All the staff seem to be genuinely happy to be working there. The owners, Margriet and Daniel, work just as hard as their staff, serving, clearing tables, having chats with guests, it's almost as if we were having dinner at friends' house instead of a restaurant. The entire team is as authentic as it gets. The food was fabulous as well. What we liked most is that it was all simple, elegant and pure food. The natural flavours of the ingredients were put at display and you could actually taste them, which was a start difference with lots of restaurants where they add so much salt and flavour enhancers, you don't really taste your actually food anymore. Beautifully laid out on different style plates, clearly made by a kitchen staff who love what they do. We recommend this place to all the foodies out there. Including the vegetarians and vegans who have their own entire tasting menu. We will be back! Often ;)

Second time we’ve had lunch there and I cannot speak too highly of this fantastic restaurant. In spite of our first visit being about 6 months ago the manager (co-owner?) recognised us today and was most inviting. The 3 of us had the 3 course Christmas menu at £40 each (£35 for 2 courses is an option). In between the imaginatively presented and delicious starters and mains we were given really tasty and original little amuse bouches. All the many staff were charming and attentive in the extreme - constantly refilling our glasses of still and sparkling water - but never intrusive. We had chosen various dishes from the fairly small selections (always a good sign) and all were perfectly cooked, different and delicious. The extensive wine list is not cheap but very diverse. And any visit to the Greyhound must include a visit to the loos. The poshest this side of the Brighton Pavilion. We are now planning our next visit - staff, ambiance, seating, grub just perfect.

10/10. Fabulous "3 course" lunch on a Saturday at The Greyhound. I think we were given 3 extra mini course, which were all well thought out and presented beautifully. Once again, the dishes had balance, were delightful on the palate and left you fully satisfied and incredibly happy. This could be the gold standard for gastro pubs north of London. Service was friendly and efficient.

The Greyhound has provided the best dining experience I’ve had so far, a lot would need to be done to top it. Atmosphere alone is enough for a great experience, our hosts were attentive and so friendly. Andrew was our main server and was brilliant, may we find another server just like him! Daniel and Margarit (the owners) were there for the full evening, serving and providing amazing stories. We even got a tour of the venue, and you could see just how much time and love they put in to The Greyhound. The food was second to none. Attached is photos we took, though all we wanted to do was dig in. And how amazing to know they grow some produce on site! I’m sort of lost for words on the food, as it was so delicious, there’s nothing more that can be said. Extra - it was a surprise trip for my birthday (a trip from Bath) and at the table they had a card waiting where all the staff had signed it. What a lovely touch, this card will be kept in my keepsake box for life. This restaurant is a hidden gem in Beaconsfield! From the moment we arrived we were totally spoilt by the super friendly and attentive staff. The food is on another level and exceeded all of our expectations. This was our first visit and we will definitely be back soon!

Popped in for my wife's birthday, and what a fine decision that was! It's not often that we've been to a restaurant where everything not only equals but surpasses expectations, but this was one of those happy occasions. Food , atmosphere, service ( Lauren ), comfort, presentation and value were all tiptop...couldn't be better. Highly recommended.

Honestly one of the best restaurants I've ever been to -- and I used to work at a Michelin-starred restaurant. The staff are wonderful. The tasting menu is divine. Cannot recommend it enough and it is well worth the money.

We went to the Greyhound for my Wife's Birthday and booked online. Firstly, the welcome and attention to detail was probably the best I've experienced at any restaurant. We were greeted at the door, by our names, they wished my wife happy Birthday, and our table, which was of a great size in a great location, had a Birthday card signed by 18 people! Along with this, were personalised engraved napkin holders. A lovely touch! We went for the tasting menu which was 6 Courses with an optional additional course for a supplement which we shared. There was also several other complimentary courses that came with it. In total I think we had 11! The service was impeccable. Friendly, quick, attentive. Couldn't have done any better. The food was also great, which included dishes we wouldn't have normally ordered, but were all of a very high standard. I would highly recommend this place, especially if its a special occasion.

Another wonderful dining experience at this very special restaurant. The incredibly talented kitchen produces beautifully presented innovative and delicious dishes. The complimentary amuse bouche are a nice touch but what really sets this place apart is the warm, personal and efficient service. For my wife and me this is the Gold Standard. Sometimes a 4* or 5* rating does not give a true reflection of an experience! As an evening event, a special occasion, I would like to give The Greyhound a 5*. A delicious meal with friendly and efficient service, great surroundings. However, the food was not of a type that everyone would prefer. Even if you don’t order a tasting menu that is the style of the food provided. Aside from what we ordered we were given; a cheese profiterole, a vegetable tart, soda bread with whipped butter, a mini cream tea, marshmallows, chocolates, and chocolates in a box to take home. All very lovely but is that what we signed up for? It depends on your preference. Some people would have eaten the small portions provided for each course in a few mouthfuls, they were more tasting menu size. Surely a larger portion of what we actually ordered ourselves would be better, keep the extras for the tasting menu alone. So, overall we had a lovely evening with delicious food. However the whole presentation might need to be looked at. If you don’t order the tasting menu then perhaps a proper portion of what you actually did order might be more appropriate.

What a fabulous experience.. Faultless service superb food and wines. I have been to many restaurants over what has been a long life but this is one of the best experiences I have ever had. We had the a la carte menu but other diners had the standard lunch menu but in my eye they were both of exceptional value. I feel the upstairs dining is a little more quiet and private. The attention to detail and their customer service was quite exceptional. I dined with a couple who had recently dined at the Wolsey and they felt their experience here was way superior.

Just really like this place been a few times now, great food is a given, with plenty of little taste experiences coming throughout the meal. Great, friendly service and knowledgeable staff. Is well and truly on our go to list now. Only piece of advice is our table was a little dark, the light could be dropped down a bit.

One is served with warm, somewhat hard, bread roll and butter. and a small soft roll sprinkled with parmesan, presumably an 'amuse bouche'. Everything is served with a flourish. We each had a main dish, without starter. Servings are small on large plates. My wife ordered one of two meat dishes on the menu - sirloin steak which proved somewhat chewy and indifferent flavour. The alternative would have been rabbit. There were two fish dishes which would have been my choice but one with ginger to which I have an aversion which the chef apparently was unable remove. The other fish on offer was coley which is generally regarded as a cheap alternative to cod or haddock. It is used extensively in manufacture of fish fingers. The only other offering was a vegetarian dish with main ingredient of cauliflower. I often choose a vegetarian dish but this was without doubt the worst I had ever encountered. A small piece of cauliflower accompanied by other small, pretty tasteless objects that I could not identify but described as 'nori dumpling, chestnut mushroom, spring greens'. Finally, my wife chose a dark chocolate delice which she pronounced as ok but unremarkable. We have dined in restaurants of many standards worldwide and The Greyhound has to be one of the worst for food.

Absolutely fantastic experience! We had a family lunch, having never been before, which well-exceeded our expectations! The ambiance was just right, the food was delicious and beautifully presented and the staff were exceptional. A fantastic restaurant. Where to start. The atmosphere is great and the staff are very attentive and extremely knowledgeable. Nothing was too much trouble for them and I particularly like the diverse range of staff. Even the owner came to the table to say hello. The food was superb. A great variety and excellent portion sizes. As far as I could tell every table was busy and this was at lunch time mid week. Expensive yes but great value for money. I wish I could go every week.

Excellent meal last night. Exceptional attention to detail including an anniversary card signed by many staff. Perfect level of service and of course lovely and interesting food with lots of extra treats. They really make you feel wanted and are very eager to make sure you have a memorable experience.

Five of us went for a celebration lunch today. The welcome was terrific & was soon matched by the fantastic & beautifully presented items on the lunch menu. We had all three courses. I never write reviews but felt I had to make an exception for The Greyhound. Wow what an experience. We went to celebrate my father's 88th birthday and my brother and I were treating him. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel most welcome, the additional touches were just incredible. The food was delicious, absolutely amazing. The staff were so knowledgeable and guided us with what wine would be best with each course, even the non alcoholic options they recommended were enjoyable. We arrived for lunch at 1.00pm and left just before 6.00pm. A truly memorable afternoon and I cant wait to go back. An exceptional restaurant, serving incredible food and the staff were so attentive and friendly adding to the whole experience. Thank you so much.

We had dinner here this evening and the service was fantastic. Hanna deserves a special mention. She was extremely good very attentive and very friendly. However I would have to say the food was a little bit of a let down a lot of it was very nice but my steak was quite tough. Also had the banana soufflé was a bit sloppy and with too much ginger. My husband had a wonderful lunch here a few weeks ago so we will give it another go.

My husband and I went to the Greyhound for our anniversary meal and it was simply exceptional! This place deserves a Michelin star. We did the tasting menu which was absolutely delicious, so well presented and had extras of bread, amuse bouche in between and well worth it. We didn’t do the wine pairing but order a couple of glasses to match a couple of courses. The service here deserves a special mention. We had Rohit serving us and wow the attention to detail, the kind warm manner and attentiveness makes you feel truly special. When my husband spilt something on his shirt a few seconds later the waitress appeared with a wipe to clean his clothes. As a special touch we got given an anniversary card signed by all the staff and a little anniversary cake at the end which we took home. Overall a very special and excellent meal!

So why no AA rosettes?!? Without question this place should have 2 rosettes, and with a few minor tweaks could be knocking on 3. However I'm not sure why they emphasise the word "pub" because all their effort and aspiration seems to be towards top-end fine dining, and they really are trying very hard indeed, so the word "pub" rather denigrates this. Decor and furnishing is restrained, well thought-out and high quality. The use of soft furnishings to absorb noise results in a relaxed and discreetly upscale ambience. (This was upstairs - we did not look downstairs). The menu is refreshingly compact and well-balanced. Although our party chose to stay a-la-carte, the tasting menu looks well-composed and very good value. With a couple of exceptions every dish our party tried was faultless and beautifully presented. Service is exemplary and with no expense spared on plenty of well-chosen and very well-trained staff, although slightly inconsistent as to whether aiming for informal and perhaps slightly over-friendly, or formal and dignified. Given their apparent aim towards high end dining the latter might be more appropriate, but to be fair that may be a matter of personal opinion and preference. The only minor negatives (for our party) were: The canapes (free) that were a little bland and lacking contrast; The ox cheek croquette that could do with a little more piquancy; The "Eton mess" that was nothing of the sort, and was very disappointing; The inconsistent checking and replenishing of wine glasses. However these niggles were more than offset by very many high points. The whole experience is enhanced by an abundance of little extras, even with the a-la-carte (canapes, amuse, excellent bread & beurre noisette, pre-dessert, petits fours, bottomless sparkling water) all unexpected and much appreciated. Overall, prices for the quality offered represent very sensible value by fair comparison. The AA need a sharp kick up the fundament!

We went to the Greyhound on the recommendation of a friend and it was such a brilliant experience. The food was incredible; it was beautifully presented, flavours were delicious and we really enjoyed every bite. I really like that there are suggested wine pairings against the dishes on the menu so that if you aren’t doing the tasting menu, you could still pair if you wanted to. The décor is wonderful and we had a lovely table upstairs. The way that it is set out means that although there are other people there, it still feels intimate. We also had our table for the entire evening which is rare, and I wish I had not driven so we could have lounged for hours with our wine! The real stars of the experience though are the team. From the minute we walked in, everyone we encountered was genuine, warm and excited. There is a huge amount of passion that is so clear to see and it obviously comes from the top down. We had incredible service from Lauren from the word go; she was engaging and open and we felt so welcomed and at ease the whole time. We were also supported by her colleague who’s name I didn’t get but recommended the Banana Souffle and knew exactly which port I wanted for my cheese. Finally we had a chat with Dan who is one of the owners and it was such a wonderful interaction. Theres a lot of love for this restaurant and he obviously has his soul poured into it and this shows in every little bit of the experience from the décor, to the food and drinks and mostly in the enthusiasm and dedication of the team. I wish I had worked in a place like this when I was in hospitality and it is to all their credit that it is such a wonderful experience. We’ll be returning in the next few months to do the tasting menu and we’re both so excited!

First visit and certainly will not be our last. Great service and food, loved by us all (2 adults and 1 teenager). Great vegetarian options and the banana soufflé with the peanut butter ice cream was outstanding. The ‘snacks’ you can order are great way to try a few extra dishes. We had the bbq chicken (wow) goats cheese (double wow) and the duck and cherry tart (our least favourite dish of the night as we found the dried nori casing was not to our liking). The amuse-bouche’s were all really nice with the gazpacho of heritage tomato Consommé being particularly outstanding. The service was impeccable especially from the young lady from California who looked after our table. Thank you to everyone for a great evening.

Having just returned from a wonderful meal at The Greyhound I couldn't recommend them enough. The service was second to none, from the moment we arrived. Every member of staff was very professional, yet made you feel so welcome. I'm yet to decide my favourite course, as the food was continuously to a high standard. Being full of flavour and good quality produce.

My family and I went to The Greyhound to celebrate my brother’s graduation meal. From the minute we entered the restaurant, we were made to feel welcome and everyone congratulated him on his achievement. The service was exceptional from start to finish and nothing was too much trouble: we were made to feel like the only guests in the restaurant. We opted for the tasting menu, which proved an outstanding choice with every dish meticulously prepared and made to be a work of art, with the taste to match. We will definitely be returning and recommending to everyone and anyone we can. Thank you Greyhound staff for an amazing evening and rounding off a brilliant day.

As first time visitors having had recommendations to visit, we were not disappointed in any way. The service exceptional. The food amazing. The wine delicious. Just overall quality.
