Luna Rossa in South Bucks

I really would like to give this place 5 stars but the service by one male waiter was so rude. The gent I'm referring to is the older gent of large build with white hair and glasses. He really does need to learn customer skills. I felt rushed by him when I was ordering my dessert. It's not like the place was busy either. There was 8 tables empty around me. On the hole though the food was the best Italian I've experienced in a very long time. Yes I will return but the said waiter needs some help in dealing with the public. Thank you for the food I loved it.

Been coming here since I was a child. It truly is the best Italian resteraunt in this area and as an avid pasta lover, the best pasta I have ever had. The staff are always friendly and polite. The portion sizes and atmosphere are great. I’ve tried many a dish from here and all are just as tasty as each other (fussili al fumo probably my favourite). Definitely recommend this place to anyone.

It is one of our favourite places. The food is always perfect with generous portions. Wonderful, relaxed atmosphere from a friendly family run authentic Italian restaurant. Always made to feel extremely welcome. The only issue is deciding what to eat, because everything is so good!

Unbelievable food!!! Everything was better than the next dish. Wish we lived closer. The minestrone soup was perfect. The eggplant starter was amazing. Pizza was delicious. Homemade desserts were unreal (tiramisu and Nutella cheesecake)

It’s really rare to find such authentic Italian food outside of Italy, and wow Luna Rossa did not disappoint. Absolutely beautiful food. I’m a massive pasta fan and I was so impressed - the specials are incredible. I am pescatarian and there were loads of options. The ingredients such as black spaghetti, cheese, and sauces are all sourced from local towns in Italy. And you can really tell. The service was superb, the waiters are so warm and friendly. 5 star experience. Also the Nutella cheesecake with dark raspberry ice cream as a dessert is TO DIE FOR.

Three friends and myself visited last night. Every bit of the meal was absolutely beautiful and everything tasted ‘proper’ Italian! Brought back wonderful memories of Italy 💜 The waiters were lovely, very attentive and funny - we even got ‘serenaded’…hilarious!! Thank you for a wonderful meal 😊

Always a top experience at Luna Rossa. The food is excellent and the service perfect every time. The family run restaurant atmosphere makes it a super relaxing and enjoyable experience.

When for a friend gathering, and the evening was fantastic. We had a few starters calamari, pizza to share and fresh fragrant mussels all delicious. I would recommend the seasonal special lemon tagliatelle and nerano pasta, both juicy, Al dented and full of flavour. Staff was friendly and attentive and made the experience very nice. Bad food. The arancini tasted like fried mash potatoes. Duck breast had caramel all over it for no reason. Pasta was drenched in olive oil instead of flavour Seafood half moon panzoli taste like minestrone soup for some reason

Luna Rosa hosted a special dinner for us with our family and friends. It was a wonderful occasion and we all enjoyed the delicious food and wine. The service was excellent and the ambience lovely.

I normally have dinner here, with my daughters, family or friends. The service and food are normally really good, hence I keep returning. However today, I went for lunch. Disaster. None of the normal staff. It was like it’s changed hands. Was with a friend who also comes here. Well we ordered 2 Tomato garlic pizza breads. Starters. Normally loaded with tomato sauce on top and and plenty of garlic. Today was really skimpy. Circular swirls of tomato sauce and garlic just in the middle. That was the second noticeable change. Third noticeable change. Milanese Pollo. And King Prawn 2 mains. Well the chicken Milanese was half the size and the pasta Napoli, was so hot and smelt of Brown Sauce. The Napoli sauce was off. And warmed in a microwave. As there is no way you can make fresh pasta that hot and it could burn your tongue. My colleague had King Prawns. The mixed veg, looked like it came from a tin. We really were surprised. We questioned a member of staff, if it had changed hands? They said no. Then I questioned and asked for the chef to taste the pasta Napoli. The waiter said, would you like him to make you another one. Which gave me the answer I didn’t want. We just got the bill and left. Sad to say. You have lost some customers. We would never have guessed a place we go to regularly. Has got that bad. Definitely not going back.

A solid ok for this Italian restaurant, in Gerrards cross. I was served this beige offering despite asking for a completely different pizza. The waiter decided to take it upon himself to do his own thing with the order. By the time it arrived I couldn’t be bothered and was just grateful for some food. Probably go again and try another dish, and perhaps spell out the order. The pizza was ok. Nothing special, I’ve had better in london ( see my other reviews)

Lovely traditional Italian food in a restaurant that feels Italian. Not pretentious with food at still amazing prices!!

The only place around that serves Cassatta Siciliana afaik. Pretty good in all other respects as well.

First time visiting Luna Rossa. Our food was delicious and piping hot. Service was attentive and friendly but not intrusive. The seafood risotto was amazing. Would definitely go back.

Highly recommended if you want a decent Italian at an affordable price

We’ve lived in the Chalfonts for 15yrs and not visited this restaurant as a family or now as a couple. Popped in (no booking) last night and had a lovely warm welcome, servers with all of the ‘Italian’ character and excellent food. Some lovely Chianti off a fantastic wine list. We’ll be back and wished we had tried it years ago. Thanks to all for a great evening.

I went on a works night out here. I had the Black pasta with crab and prawns in a spicy tomato sauce. It was awesome. I really enjoyed the meal. The service was quick enough to enjoy the night without feeling rushed. The restaurant was busy but it didn't seem to detract from the experience. Thanks to all the team at Luna Rossa. I had a great time and great food!

Delicious home-made food! Lots of fresh vegetables and tasty sauces - (none of those watery sauces with unidentifiable ingredients you find in some venues) - absolutely lovely!

It is ok as a last resort if everywhere else full, much better restaurants in the area. Service is average, staff never remember what you ordered. Food is generally good though.

We love Luna Rossa! We’ve been coming here for the last five years and they staff are always so welcoming and kind. The food is fantastic - we always get the carbonara, fried courgettes, tomato and mozzarella salad and tiramisu for pudding!

Amazing food in very generous portion sizes. Food was cooked and tasted very fresh and was brought to our table with minimal waiting time. The vibe was homely and the staff were warm and welcoming. 100% recommend.

A pleasant restaurant with decent (if slightly overpriced) Italian food. What lets it down is the staff. Yes, they go through all the motions required but without ever once making their guests feel like … guests. It’s all brusque and functional, lacking warmth, connection and the extra effort which makes a meal out special, and not just about consumption of food.

Lovely food but the house wine was a bit trumpy. But other than that an enjoyable experience. Recommended.

It was a family dine out today. Staff were brilliant and if you want to enjoy authentic Italian food, this is the place.

We frequently dine here. It’s good value for money and the food is always good. If I was to make one slight criticism it’s the fact it’s always so noisy!!

The food was great, but was served a bottle of beer with an expiry date of October 2023, only a month away. With a very popular restaurant, with a lot of turnover, you would expect fresh beer, but it seems they must have bought some cheap old stock.

We’ll be back Visited with a friend and we were warmly greeted by staff. I ordered the risotto tuna tartar from the specials and it was excellent. My friend had the tagliatelle al salmon, also very good. We will definitely be back

Absolutely awful please avoid this overpriced place were the chef sends out soggy pizza, also amazingly rude staff, do not know how this place is still open... Dirty grimy toilets impound the state of this and prices OMG £3.90 for a can of Cola!!!!! and £9.50 for a cheese garlic bread - ridiculous and never again

Rude staff told me to go f myself in Italian when I called to order a take away. Kept them going in lockdown.

The team at Luna Rossa are always so welcoming and if you are regular, they make you feel like it’s home. My other half eats there most weeks with his colleague/s and I pop down too sometimes and we always go there. The food is excellent proper Italian cuisine, regular specials that are seasonal to use the best ingredients and the banter with the guys is always a laugh :-)) Would absolutely recommend if you like proper Italian food (rather than chain restaurant fodder). When the dish has chilli in it, get ready, as it’s normally on the spicier side (I’m good with that though) all very tasty and a great experience. Thanks for making us feel always very welcome.

Wine ordered was delivered incorrectly twice. Laughed off. Food mediocre and overcooked. Overpriced. Limoncella Baba was cold - probably from fridge or freezer. Should have been room temperature.

Not impressed with the Portugese waiter there! Opened a bottle of wine different from the one had ordered, we said don't worry. Served us bottled water without asking if we wanted it. My friend waited over half an hour for his beer and reminded his three times about it. When he asked us about the food I said it was great but the service leaved a lot to be desired and ordered 3 Irish Whiskeys. He prepared the drinks where I could notice it. In one of the Whiskeys he did something that was disgusting and was disappointed because I did not drink it. The food was excellent, specially the lamb chops. I would have given four stars all around had the service been friendlier.

Sono stato a cena con una mia amica. Servizio fantastico, camerieri molto amichevoli e divertenti. Abbiamo ordinato Pizza e capesante come antipasto. Pacchetti ai funghi e grigliata di manzo come primo. Tiramisù e cheesecake come dolci. Cibo eccellente. Sembra di essere stati in Italia.

Enjoyed a delicious steak main meal with ham and burruta starter that was well presented. This was the best steak I have ever had so juicy and succulent the waiters very happy to recommend their favourite meals keep up the good work see you again soon

This place has the most authentic Italian food I have ever tasted. The staff there are so friendly. Food comes out nice and hot and their portion are more than generous. Yum yum. Will come again. Already been 3 times in the last 3odd years I think.. its a long way away for us so not a regular spot..

Myself and my husband have dinner at Luna Rossa every Friday night for the past 5 years. We get a great welcome from all the staff. It’s one of the few restaurants left that know how to offer good old fashioned hospitality and a lovely atmosphere. The food is delicious and so is the wine. Susan & Michael Gibbons

I'm a chef and the food in that restaurant is disgusting! I nearly got sick 🤢 eating the food and the price afterwards! Weiter to in your face and was rude to my girlfriend!

I must say the food was lovely, the atmosphere is great and the staff are very friendly. The only tiny thing I’d like to see improved is the garlic bread, it was a bit hard and not really flavoursome. When mentioning the dessert we had was cold they immediately took it back and warmed it up for us. Highly recommended!

Sunday lunchtime; not very busy, waiters unbelievably rude, questioning food and drink choices, making uncalled for personal observations ....all of which could be tolerated if the food was worth it....but no....left over breads, microwaved pasta. Plenty of good restaurants nearby. Choose those and ovoid this is my advice. I won't be back.

Lovely dinner here, the food was delicious and the service was excellent! Salvatore was very attentive and advised us on wine pairing for our food, and he wasn’t wrong! Wines are fairly priced and overall the evening was really enjoyable!

The food was delicious - I tried some pizza, the wild boar Ragu (so tasty) and the tiramisu. The waiters were jovial, responsive and friendly. A lovely meal.

First occasion visiting the restaurant. The staff were inattentive. The food was really poor, cold plates, tasteless. Beef carpaccio inedible Liver - tough, cold and accompanied by cold tough greens. There are much better restaurants in GX

Great Italian restaurant, service and food cannot be faulted in any way. Pizzas here are way more authentic than they are at any chain pizza restaurants.
