The Greyhound at Yarlet in Stafford

We normally visit on a Sunday, for the carvery, but we decided to have meals off the main menu. Great value for money, food tasted great. We will continue to return.

We went with family for Mothers Day at 3pm at 4.20pm after asking several times about our meal we were told they didnt have one of the meals and didnt really seem that bothered. The meals that came out weren't their normal standard and a blond girl literally threw my plate down. It was a very disappointing mothers Day afternoon

So we visited on Mother’s Day for a family meal at 5.30pm We understood they were limited on food which was absolutely fine however our meals didn’t come out together and some meals didn’t come out at all. Staff arguing with me personally about what I had ordered. The blonde girl was so rude and her attitude is awful. Staff vaping in the kitchen. We visit this pub a lot as a family and we love it and would normally never complain but this was the worst meal EVER. The food wasn’t presentable at all and tasteless. Pub probs won’t be here long anyway but the young staff do not deserve jobs because they were disgusting.

Well, what a surprise. We arrived well after lunchtime but before tea. The pub itself needs a good overhaul in terms of decor. Quite shabby and dusty. There was no one in the pub at the time, but the staff took our order, and it came quickly. What an amount!! I've never been defeated by meat until now!!! Hubby had a grill which was plentiful, and I had ribs. Little too much sauce for me but I scraped it off. It was tasty.. I took half of mine home! We will definitely revisit. Sunday carvery is supposed to be good....

Arrived at 1.50 pm and got served pretty quickly. Meat portion was generous but some of the beef was tough and it went on the side of my plate. Turkey tasted nice. The plate you get holds a lot of food, which is good. The creamy leeks were good on this visit as was the white cabbage. The little roast potatoes looked good but did not taste great and the cauliflower with cheese splodges on top ( rather than a proper cauliflower cheese which i prefer) was just okay. Gravy didn't taste quite right and was below par. Horseradish sauce tasted good The meal filled me up which was good, but great flavours were lacking. Overall, I rate the meal as just above average!

Our party of five last dined here for lunch 18 months ago in June 2022, and we were again warmly welcomed on arrival. We sat at a a circular table in the conservatory, which was warm and airy. We chose from the extensive menu, and our meals were served very promptly, and were delicious, and out desserts were excellent. Overall a very enjoyable experience, and highly recommended.

Came across this little treasure on the way back from Alton Towers. Friendly staff great choice of drinks and a fantastic selection of food. Our meals were lovely and great value.

Been recommended by a friend to visit and today we did , up there with the best food and drink , always drove past , but we will be most certainly stopping more in the future, polite and welcoming staff aswell WOULD STRONGLY RECOMMENDED A VISIT !!!

I ordered the “ barn door” 20oz rump steak. The meal was absolutely beautiful the only thing I would change is change the side salad to half a grilled tomato and flat mushroom. Other than that would recommend to anybody

Called in on s Wednesday evening. My husband ordered from the lite bite menu. Fish and chips. Was only just under £7 and was a big portion. I had the southern fried chicken and Grandaughter had chicken nuggets then the scoops of ice cream and three J20s all came to £39 good meal, Good Value, good time. Thank you. We will be back😀

Staying in stafford for 2 weeks at a time (Mon-Thurs) 11 weeks in the year as I am at the college, and find myself eating here most days. Definitely the best value for money you will find in stafford! The menu is amazing there is so much choice and very reasonable prices too! I don’t think I have seen a menu with more choice in my life! I ordered a 6oz steak burger and was pleasantly surprised that it came with chips, peas and salad! The staff in there are really nice and welcoming and the food is good! There is so much to try on the menu, definitely something for everyone

I was looking forward to the nut roast on the cavery. I was so disappointed. It had a funny taste and I didn't taste any nuts. The texture was sloppy. The vegetables were tasteless and mushy. Needless to say I didn't enjoy my meal. I would not recommend eating here.I just wish there was a good vegetarian restaurant locally

Went to the Greyhound for an evening meal between Xmas and New Year. The food was excellent and the service was quick. Good value and tasty food. Many thanks

Great meal, atmosphere. We visited on the night England played France to avoid lots of people. As always the food was great. I had the 20oz mixed grill with peppercorn sauce which was superb. My partner had the Ham, eggs and chips and couldn’t finish it as the size of the meal. The ham was lovely. Friend had the full rack of ribs, he couldn’t believe the size of the portion. Great atmosphere, cracking food! Can’t wait till we go again

Christmas Day - Didn’t think somewhere could be so terrible! AVOID Myself my husband and mother in law decided to go here for Christmas Day lunch. Our table was booked for 1pm. We arrived and were promptly seated at a table in the far corner of the conservatory where the radiator was burning my leg. I went to the bar and had to wait to be served, about 5 minutes, which was fine. I had literally just sat down when the starters arrived. The starters were basic but acceptable. When our mains arrived they did not look very nice and we were informed that the salmon we’d ordered wasn’t ready so we’d have to wait for that! The food was cold anyway so waiting wasn’t a problem. The sprouts were soggy and oozed water. The carrots were the same. The sauce over my gammon had a skin forming on it because it was getting cold. I just couldn’t eat it. The cauliflower cheese and broccoli with cheese sauce were warm but the presentation was awful and it looked really bland. My mother in law said her salmon was nice, probably because it was cooked fresh but the same soggy vegetables and cold roast potatoes. We ‘finished’ our main course and waited 45 minutes before anyone turned up to clear the table. A young chap, who obviously had no restaurant experience, cleared some of the table and then disappeared. It was then a further 20 minutes before a young lady turned up to clear the rest of the table. I expressed my disappointment about the food and service and that we’d been waiting a long time. I asked to speak to the manager. She did not know how to deal with my complaint but did get the manager. Well, this is where I really started to lose my rag. The manager turned up and said ‘well do you want any dessert?’ In a very obnoxious manner. I asked him if his waitress had told him I wanted to speak to him. He said yes but that he did not want to discuss it with me and that he’d speak to me afterwards. He then took our dessert order and walked off. By this time I just wanted to leave. The desserts turned up. The cheesecake was actually quite nice, undoubtedly not made in house, but my husband’s Christmas pudding looked like a very slim slice of Soreen fruit loaf with about two tablespoons of custard poured over it. There was supposed to be coffee and mince pies but I didn’t see any evidence of anyone in the restaurant getting these. Anyway, by this time we’d had enough and so decided to go and speak to the manager and the leave. We went to the bar and I was greeted by a lovely lady. By this time I am quite upset and she could see that. I asked if she was the manageress. She said no and that I’d have to speak to the same guy I’d already tried to speak to at the table. He came over and he just wasn’t interested in hearing my concerns and asked what outcome I wanted. He suggested that as we’d already paid a deposit that we leave it at that and they’d also cover our drinks. We didn’t pay any extra but his attitude SUCKED big time. He was just so rude and did not know how to manage a restaurant, especially on Christmas Day. Also smarten up your staff Mr Manager. One of your ‘waitresses’ had a hole in the seam of her black legging at the back which you could see her red knickers through - not really something that I want to see when I’m trying to eat my supposed Christmas dinner. Your staff need training in the basics of waiting tables. You were obviously short staffed. As you did not give me the opportunity to discuss any of this with you, I am therefore writing it here for everyone to see. I know you said you didn’t want to ruin our Christmas Day but you did BIG TIME. We will never come back. It used to be a great eating pub but never again.

we both had the Mixed Grills - they had several different sizes, different mixes, the best grill i have ever had they were so generous and tasty - really impressed and full up!

Two of us had lunch here today (steak for one and haddock & chips). The steak, medium rare, was cooked to perfection and the haddock batter was light and crisp. Very clean- efficient service. Good prices. Will call again.

Really enjoyed my Sunday roast lunch this weekend! Pleasant staff, three choice meats but the fresh cook vegetables make the difference. Just want to Say thank You to all the staff for making Father's Day perfect for us all, can not fault the menu and the mixed grills are to die for! All the food came out pipping hot including the plates which is nice. All 13 off us couldn't fault the place. All off us will be returning.

Went last year and it was fantastic, as it was a birthday celebration (just the 2 of us) my mother wanted to go back there. Not sure if it is under new management or not but had to wait to be seated.Ordered a bottle of wine, wrong one brought to the table and when I said it was the wrong one the waitress said "well I suppose I had better change it then" obviously it was my fault for not accepting what she placed before me.We ordered the bruschetta for starters, wanted something different. When it finally arrived (which was quite a while), it looked absolutely wonderful (looks can be deceiving), took a bite and the tomato and onion topping must have obviously just come out of the chiller or freezer as it was so cold it hurt my teeth biting into it, as both my mother and I were hungry we ate it but was a bit odd to have warm bread and freezing cold topping. When I mentioned this to the waitress the look I got was as if I had just spat at her and called her all the names under the sun, I got no apology and felt I should just get up and leave.The mains arrived and I must say they both were lovely, nice and hot, wonderful vegetables and we both really enjoyed it, thankfully. I did pass this onto the waitress how nice it was and surprise, surprise I got a smile (unless it was wind lol).On the whole rating both experiences I doubt whether I will be going back after this experience. The setting is wonderful and is a good 30 minute or more drive for me but was hoping it would have been worth the effort, afraid not.

Lovely atmosphere, very friendly staff and great food.Had a choice of both the main menu and the Sunday menu.We chose the Leek and Potato soup, really nice and just about filling :)Then had the roast pork dinner, wow the meat was tender and there was plenty of vegetables for the 2 of us and as for the crackling best I have ever had since being back in England.Unfortunately no room left for desert so will have to go back and try them.Beautiful surrounding with lovely décor, would be fantastic for any form of occasion.
