We had a hellishly long wait for our food, which kept being promised but never materialised - well over an hour. There was clearly no manager in charge and we felt sorry for the staff who kept apologising but didn’t seem to be in control. So disappointing as we haven’t been in ages and were meeting family there.

Little Gem and so glad we chose to stay. Very professional, clean and welcoming. Great one night stay.

It is just a good quality, nice place that they make a real effort with the food. They were so accommodating of our dog and as we were out of the way a bit, we were attended to well.

This is a lovely hotel. The rooms were well appointed and the small finishing touches made it exceptional. The staff were welcoming, courteous and polite. The breakfast and dinner was superb. After a 25 year hiatus, having not been back here, it hasn’t changed, which was fantastic.

We stayed for one night on the Sunday special deal. The rooms are very comfortable and nicely decorated. Lovely en-suite shower room with good hot shower. Both dinner and breakfast were very good with generous portions. It was an ideal place to stay to visit relatives in the area.

Organised a surprise baby shower for a friend here and I am so pleased I did, the staff were so helpful and accommodating, the roast was yummy and the service was absolutely brilliant. I could decorate the area and table, we didn’t have any time restraints so we got to enjoy the whole afternoon. All the staff were so friendly and lovely, they looked after us with anything we needed, The Greyhound gets a 10/10 from me, we had a great time, thank you so much

Last minute midweek booking for double room with dog. All staff very friendly and heĺpful. All areas spotlessly clean. Very comfortble beds. Lovely breakfasts. Great outside large beer garden with covered area's. Large park across the road for dog walking.Have stayed in the Greyhound Hotel with our Greyhound many times and enjoy it's homely atmosphere. Thoroughy recommend.

we had a family lunch here and it was fabulous. from the service to thenfood , everything was excellent. Could not fault it. Apart from maybe too much food. None of us could finish our plates, there was so much food. so I wouldn't order starters. Wonderful value for money.

I booked the greyhound for our family reunion for up to 30 people; of which the space was free. The person in charge of the bookings and menu’s was Annemarie. She was very patient and helpful, as we had a lot of questions about the buffet menu; which indecently, turned out to be absolutely delicious, with more than enough for the 22 people that finally came. We had booked the space, for between 12-3pm and ended up not vacating until after 4pm and the staff were very accommodating. The reunion went off without a hitch and everyone enjoyed themselves, thanks to the Staff of the Greyhound Hotel/pub, carshalton.

Disgustingly rude landlord; we came here regularly with friends to meet up during maternity leave but have just been sworn at during the pub’s birthday event.

We stayed for two night here and the welcome was fantastic. The food was delicious and we felt very well looked after. The staff all went above and beyond the call of duty...explaining routes to other venues we needed to get to over the weekend in great detail. A fabulous place to stay! Oh ,and the bed was lovely,really comfortable and there were snack bowls in the bedrooms which were reasonably priced and very welcome late at night! Highly,highly recommend this hotel. Thanks so much for a wonderful stay!

I had travelled from the north west for an overnight business trip. I was going to book a basic room at a travel lodge/premier inn and SO glad I didn’t. The room at the greyhound was about £20 cheaper than the above for one of their gorgeous boutique rooms, has free on site parking and room service. The shower is superb, the room provides everything you could possibly need (for a woman especially!) The food was lovely and comforting after a long road trip, the fridge is actually COLD! Air/heating is controlled in the room and alters very quickly to suit your needs. I have sat in the bay window bench looking over the pond with a good book followed by a delightful evening meal in the room. The room is decorated beautifully also, the perfect night away from the kids and if I’m ever in the area again I’ll absolutely be coming back.

After being sat it took 10 minutes for them to even give us a menu. Everything just took a long time and the food was okay. Past experiences have been better though.

One staff member serving did not smile and looked like they didn’t want to be there, younger waiting staff were all very good. Food we ordered was ok Vegetarian roast and Vegan burger Ale, Lemonade and Cranberry juice Location is excellent, outdoor seating is good.. free parking but limited

Very expensive no variety in food not so tasty

Sunday roast we had had soft roast potatoes, hard parsnips and rather raw cabbage. Sorry. We enjoyed sitting outside on a nice day.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch. The roast dinners were very tasty with generous portions. Desserts were delicious (recommend the Affogato & chocolate cake). Service was friendly and efficient.

We three managed to book last minute for a lovely meal. It was well presented and we were attended to in a timely and pleasant manner. Two of us had the chicken and ham pie, the best pie of that type I have tasted, with mash and cabbage and smothered in tasty parsley sauce which I adore. Our friend had the Cumberland sausages meal which she really enjoyed. For dessert, two of us shared the lemon tart with meringue and raspberry sauce. Delicious combination. It was a bit more expensive than other local restaurants but the menu had plenty of choice for an old fashioned plain eater like myself. It was in a comfortable room in the superb location directly opposite Carshalton Ponds. Parking was easy with their large car park at the rear.

Served half a chicken breast for a Sunday roast! I used to love this place. It used to be our go to for Sunday roast. Not anymore! Overpriced chicken roast and you only get served half a breast. Avoid the roast !

Good outdoor spaces. Cosy feel inside.

Food was tasty enough but had to wait along time once we finished the starters. We sat in the bar and feel we were forgotten about. One of the bar staff came up to ask if we were still waiting and even then I still had to get up to go and chase the staff standing by the kitchen. It was a Sunday and the restaurant wasn't busy - it was just cooler in the bar. I had the crudités starter which didn't come with the flat bread and garlic humous it was supposed to - just plain bread and humous. Two of us had roasts which should have been fairly quick. Portions were not to size, my husband had the 3 meat roast, had a huge piece of chicken, I just had the chicken roast and had a really small piece of chicken. It was tasty but not worth the £20 and his was £30 on the same size plate!! I work in a pub and comparing it, it is a nice pub with pleasant staff but not good value.

Went down with the family to watch the EUROs 2024 and the atmosphere was great!! There were lots of TV screens for the football & a really big screen.

I booked an area for 50 people outside which was perfect. The food was delicious and lots of it. The staff we were all really friendly and attentive. They couldn’t have done more for us. Thank you so much. We will definitely be back again.

Ordered fish and chips tonight with triple cooked chips ! When the order arrived at my table on the plate was fries ,.it would've been nice to be told triple cooked chips are not available, a bit disappointing really.

We had a wonderful family celebration here - the staff were friendly & helpful and the food was delicious. Great space for a separate gathering & lovely outside space too. Would recommend this lovely pub.

As always great food. We had 3 x fish and chips and kids fish and chips. All very tasty. Tartare sauce is amazing so we asked for extra. Very nice and friendly staff. Will be back soooon!!!

My girlfriend and I had a burger here tonight and it was terrible. It was only charred on the edges and completely grey on the flat part. I have no idea how they cooked it. It was completely flavourless and had no seasoning. We finished our chips and waited 20 minutes for someone to collect one half eaten burger and one quarter eaten burger but the bar staff didn't come and check on us. I took the plates up to the bar in the end and showed the bar staff to which we got an apology but no action. The seasoning in the picture was added by me to try and bring some life to it but it was still flavourless. The chips were good but the portions could have been slightly bigger.

Service was good and the atmosphere was great. Unable to give 5 stars as did not try food but everything else was top.

Always loved this pub. Now it's better than ever. Excellent ale and polite service in a clean comfortable haven.

Had saturday dinner here prior to a concert at Cryer Arts. Shown promptly to table and provided with water carafe without asking which is always nice. Menu is very brief with not much variety - burgers, steak etc plus some sharing platters. Fish and chips nicely presented as was the sausages with crushed potatoes and salsa, but this dish was rather bland. Couldn't identify any apple in the sausages, the crushed potatoes were unseasoned and the salsa looked pretty but lacked punch, it needed a squeeze of lemon, and some fresh herbs, garlic or chilli as it was pretty tasteless particularly for £20. Pub is stylishly decorated with a good outside space for a nice evening, but think we'll go elsewhere with a more imaginative or varied menu next time.

Celebrating 18th birthday party with friends and family. Great help from everyone from booking to end service. Highly recommended. I had only great feedback from everyone in the party.

We used the Greyhound as a venue to hold a Funeral reception,the food was amazing,every guest that came to help celebrate the life of our loved one told us it was really a lovely send off.The buffet menu really has options to suit all tastes,it looked amazing and everybody enjoyed the food. Thank you to all the staff for their hard work.

We booked a hut outside to celebrate our little daughter's 1st birthday. I have no complaints about pub's general atmosphere and the quality of food, however we had a major problem with food service timings: we have ordered 5 mains and 3 of them arrived in 40 mins (which is okay, I can understand that they had a very busy service on a Sunday and the weather was glorious) but then we had to wait for another 30 min for the other 2 meals to be served... This meant that 3 people were eating and the other 2 sat watching them (and it was meant to be our lunch which got very late so we we really hungry plus were not sure how much longer our little one would last before we had to head home). I had chased the missing meals a number of times and the stuff was nice and apologetic about the situation, however I still think this kind of service is not acceptable.

Came here on their 'eat and sleep' deal which is an economical package on Mondays. Evening meal was a very enjoyable roast and the breakfast was the same good standard as on a previous visit. Room was very comfomfortable and the staff curteous and friendly.

MY FAMILY GO HERE WHEN WE STAY IN THE AREA .THE EVENING WE WENT FOR DINNER STARTED OFF WITH A VERY WOBBLY AND UNEVEN TABLE , ASKED TO BE MOVED WHICH WE WERE ABLE TO DO THE SERVER THEN GAVE AS MENUS AND TOOK OVER TWENTY MINUTES TO ORDER DRINKS !! THE MEALS TOOK AGES TO ARRIVE( EVEN THOUGH IT WASNT BUSY IN THE RESTURANT)E NOT IMPRESSED WITH THE YOUNG MAN SERVING US WE CANNOT FAULT THE FOOD WHICH IS ALWAYS EXCELLENT AND ALL THE FAMILY ENJOYED PLEASE IMPROVE YOUR TIME SEEING TO CUSTOMERS

Great place to eat out with colleagues after work

This boozer has upped its game and is now a cosy, welcoming restaurant and ale house. We had a great table overlooking Carshalton ponds for lunch. The food was good with plenty of variety, service excellent and the ambiance of the place was super.

Lovely pub, great staff and absolutely smashing “can have what every you want” lady at bar! Thank you for the hospitality and food was really good too. We will Definitely return!

Had a lovely Sunday roast here with my partner and a friend after completing the Marsden March on Sunday 12th May. I always come here after doing this. The location, food, and service are very good. The only thing missing is the cauliflower cheese to go with the roast dinner.

Enjoyed a couple of pints in the garden area, bar lady wasn't exactly the most welcoming smiley or chatty person which is a shame as that is your first impression, she did her job but clearly wasn't going to trouble herself to go over and above for sure. Can't comment on food as we didn't bother to eat as we were clearly told food wasn't being served till later.

Spent the night at The Greyhound. Dinner & Breakfast. The overwhelming feeling this “Pub with Rooms” gave me was the relaxed and friendly staff. From receptionist to serving staff everyone seemed to be intent on making our short stay a memorable one. The room was so clean as were the bedding and bathroom. The food at breakfast and dinner was first class and we were looked after really well by the staff. Parking was free and onsite. Certainly will return again.

Ordered a glass of house wine and a pint of peroni £17 seems a bit extortionate to me. A young lady eventually served me when she bothered to take notice that I was standing at the bar, after pouring the wine left so a young boy continued to serve me which I thought was very unprofessional. Proceeded to the Garden area where I set at a table completely covered in ants. Probably won't go back ever as I have to work for my money and don't like being extorted.

Food is absolutely amazing but some of the staff are so rude, it feels as though you’re really putting them out by asking a simple question like where’s the cutlery? Being in the service industry myself I get it, people can be difficult, but if you go ahead with the attitude that everyone you encounter is difficult then i guarantee you’ll get attitude back. For the prices being charged you’d think they’d be a bit more accommodating. Makes you feel awkward for even daring to exist lol.

Went for a family meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The food was fabulous and the service was wonderful. A special thank you to Oisin, Mia, Amy, Archie for their wonderful welcome, and to Collum and Anne-Marie for making the occasion feel so special

DISCLAIMER. The service went wrong during our visit, but was made right in the end. It wouldn't be fair for me to consider it in my rating. My partner and I booked a table for 2:30 for a roast on a Sunday. We showed up on time but the table still needed to be cleared, cleaned etc. We were asked to wait at the bar and we would be called in. This took around 10minutes. Once we had sat at the table, it took around 15minutes for someone to take our food order - we already had drinks due to waiting at the bar. The food took awhile to arrive, and we grew suspicious when a table of two arrived next to us, managed to get their food, and pay the bill before we'd even got any food. At around 3:30 it dawned on the waiter that our order had not been put through. Once it had been, the order was prioritised and delivered to our table within 5 - 10minutes. They did the right thing and removed the food from our bill. Now for the food. My partner had the pork belly roast, which looked like a substantial portion and came with a variety of veg. She was complimentary about her meal, but did wish additional gravy was provided to pour in the giant Yorkshire. I went for the fish and chips, which again was a good size. The chips and fish came unseasoned - which I appreciated so I could control the salt and vinegar levels, the fish batter was also really crispy. Unfortunately, the curry sauce was cold which was a shame as it was the main reason I fancied fish and chips over the roast.

We had our pre-wedding dinner at the Greyhound 20 years ago and we come back frequently for 'special occasion' dinners - birthdays; anniversaries etc. Food is good and service always polite and friendly.

Very nice pub and hotel. We walked along the river from Croydon and stopped off for a drink before returning back to Croydon. Great for a pitstop. Staff were friendly and the Bloody Mary taster was superb!

The food was all eaten and the staff are very pleasant but the online booking didn't work. I asked for a table for five adults and a dog in the bar for 13.00 hrs 1.4.24. This was acknowledged and I answered yes to the subsequent request to confirm my booking. When we arrived, it appeared that no booking had been made.

This pub has so much potential but it's so painfully overpriced and service is so poor - we keep giving it another go and then remembering why we avoid it. We visited with 3 adults and 2 small kids - they are definitely kid friendly and have high chairs etc but kids meals are £10+. Firstly the issue with our visit was service - they are friendly but the staff are v you f and inexperienced. Our waitress had to go back to the bar twice to check which ales they had on tap. We ordered some bread just to keep the baby occupied as he was getting a bit chatty and we were charged £11 for that. There was a lot of bread but it was poor quality / stale (kids ate it, but adults didn't) and one individual portion of butter came with it. The service was slow considering there were only 4-5 tables to serve and there were a few mistakes: wrong chips served (fine, whatever), a pint served instead of the half requested (I didn't say anything as I knew it would take another half hour to fix), charged for the more expensive beer w/o being told. When my husband queried this he was just met with a lot of attitude so it wasn't worth the bother. Never again (until another two years and we forget how awful it is) On the plus side, the food is fairly decent it's just not decent enough for the price. The prices suggest this is a "special" place for lunch when it's just not.

We hosted my husband’s 30th birthday here and it was a great night. We had a finger food buffet with a mix of meat and veggie options, everything was very good and many people made a point to say the food was great. The staff were all so friendly and attentive and the back area was very spacious, perfect for 30 people.

Service was really poor. We were a group of 5, eating lunch on a quiet thursday, and each ordered one plate. Despite the fact that we'd said we wanted all the food at the same time, the people who'd ordered just starters got their food 15 mins before everyone who had a sandwich/main so half our table was waiting hungry (and it would have been obvious if the staff had been paying attention). The food was nice and the building/location is gorgeous, but we've had slow service here before and it's a shame, this could be such a nice place.

I've been to the Greyhound a few times for drinks and also a few times for food on separate occasions. The location is pleasant, the service good, the decor very nice and the food is filling. The overall value for money is excellent.

We held a meeting in the meeting room, staff were very helpful in assisting setting up the IT. The food was fantastic, good selection and very generous helpings.

The service started off great with a warm and friendly manner but once our food was served it ended there. There was no check in to see how our meal was and no further drinks offered, so really they are losing money here by not offering as myself and my partner would have had another. The food was alright, despite the high prices it was just alright.

What a fabulous afternoon celebrating our parents diamond wedding anniversary We were seated in the cellar room area which was perfect as it felt quite private enabling guests to mingle and catch up with family and friends. We weren’t rushed at all, in fact we were able to stay at the tables for much longer than allocated, Nothing was too much trouble, the staff were so attentive and friendly checking we all had everything we needed. The food was delicious I think most guests went for the roast dinners which were huge! My sons gave a thumbs up to the fish and chips and the burgers went down a treat too! Went here last Sunday for lunch. Thought we’d revisit it after having had a poor experience 2 years ago. Unfortunately it was no better. I wanted a roast but they couldn’t offer me gf gravy. There are other local pubs that have accommodated this, no problem. So I chose the plaice fillet which at £25 was shocking…There was no meat at all ( I struggled to scrape 4 mouthfuls of flesh), barely a scoop of mash and 5 slices of courgettes plus a tablespoon of damp watercress. The dish was tasteless. I specifically asked the waitress if I could eat the mash as I’m df and she said yes, but it tasted of butter?! My partner ordered the pork belly which was more expensive than other pub roasts and less food! We sat in the cellar which was pleasant enough, but struggled to see the menu as there was no light above our table. I left hungry and so disappointed. We will NEVER ago back. For such a high end pub the fact you cannot make basic substitutes for intolerances yet charge extortionate prices for tiny portions is disgraceful. Such a shame. I phoned as manager advised in the reply.. was told someone AnnMarie ? Would call back. She didn’t! You clearly don’t care.

Like this pub, we aren't local so only been a couple of times when visiting. Had the burger, asked for medium to well done bit is was quite rare, the young lady who served our drinks was very friendly and helpful. It's a lovely pub though, so recommend.

We reserved a table to watch a six nations rugby game which was stated on the reservation Unfortunately we were given a table with no view to a tv screen and as there were no free tables we left . Hopefully we have better luck next week with our table reservation for the final games

Beautiful pub, the food was delicious I came here for my birthday and the service was amazing from both the bar and the restaurant team. I got the beef burger which was delicious. Can’t fault the greyhound the speed of the service was wonderful nothing was to much trouble for them. The hotel room was wonderful home from home. So clean and tidy. The bathrooms also very clean. Thankyou greyhound !! ☺️
