The Greyhound in Sutton

I grew up on Youngs beer, and the beer here is good, very good. The people obviously know how to take care of the brew, but.... The Greyhound is expensive when it comes to a round of drinks, hence the rating. Cannot comment on the food as I have not eaten there for some time now.

Came for lunch with 3 adults and 2 dogs, everyone had a lovely time and felt really relaxed. We had a young pup and even when dog made a small noise nothing was said - some place claim to be dog friendly but they don’t allow any noise, which is quite impossible with young ones in training! It made the whole experience really lovely, especially when the bar staff even came to say hello to said pup. Food was hot and served promptly, although we couldn’t fit in a pudding!

The beef burger and chips were tasty plus had friendly and prompt service from a lovely lady Phoebe. Would definitely recommend

My partner and I went for a meal at The Greyhound and were met by our servers: Chrissy and Phoebe who both were very welcoming and nice. Also the managers - whose name I didn’t get - was very kind also. We had a lovely night and would love to go again.

I come here roughly 5 days a week and I love it every time I come. It’s a great place to come with people if you want a quiet drink and some food after a long day or just a few drinks. The whole pub has a lovely atmosphere and plenty of spaces to sit and enjoy your time. The staff are amazing and are so friendly, and are always welcoming and also a great laugh and are easy to talk to. The staff are always coming over to clear your table and clear any space for you and are always willing to go above and beyond here and will always try their best to cater to everyone’s needs and any problems I’ve ever had. They are so quick to respond and proved the best possible service for me every time I’m here. The whole place is very clean and staff are always making sure they are keeping it clean and replacing or putting things away. The greyhound has most of the time got anything you ask for and will always try their best to find some similar alternative to what you are after. The staff definitely have great customer service and a real passion behind what they do. I’ve personally enjoyed my experience every time im here and wouldn’t think about going anywhere else if I don’t have to. No matter how busy they get down in the greyhound, they will always be able to keep on top of the place and keeping everywhere clean and getting rid of any used crockery and making sure that no matter what the standards are at a high quality. The food is always amazing whenever I’ve eaten here, the food is always hot and quick with the service. The staff and kitchen also always will have the best presentation of food and will make sure that even if the most annoying and awkward customer comes in (most of the time it’s me) they will always make sure that they will do what I ask for even if it’s a pain and will never complain about it. The hotel I’ve never personally stayed in however if the bar and the standards of everywhere in the actual pub then the hotel I can only imagine would have the same exceptional quality and high standards. I honestly couldn’t recommend this place enough. I love it and certainly will always be coming back for a very long time.

Room was gorgeous, very comfortable with a fantastic view across the ponds. Had breakfast and dinner with family all the food was lovely really tasty, lovely ingredients cooked well. Lovely friendly staff, really nice break.

It was an experience of two halves at The Greyhound. We had a booking at midday but because both of my friends were stuck in traffic, I wasn't allowed to sit down till my entire party arrived (which would have been fine but I was shown where exactly our table was, and I'm not sure what the difference was for me sitting at that table to going back and waiting at the bar). Whilst sat at the bar I witnessed both the male and female managers continuously being rude to their staff and the male manager taking one particular member to the side to belittle - I was surprised to see this so openly in front of customers. However, the other members of staff seemed lovely and were doing their jobs as well as they could be with their disgruntled managers. Food-wise I opted for the pork Sunday roast purely because of the "pigs & blankets" mentioned on the menu. When my plate arrived their was a slice of one pig in blanket on my plate... when I questioned the staff member they said it's because they're so busy they need to ration them for the rest of the day. Considering our booking was part of the first group at midday I'm surprised they had to be rationed so thoroughly - or to be honest are mentioned on the menu at all if you can't deliver them. Despite this, the food was perfectly nice and I appreciated the addition of extra gravy and an extra Yorkshire pudding. Would I eat there again? Yes. But do I hope the managers will be off that day, also yes.

Lovely food and staff. Slightly disappointed with the roast beef I had as it was tough, bit overall nice.

Wanted to visit this pub for the longest time, but couldn't manage (not helped by the fact that it sits right next to a very narrow road with continuous traffic). Finally visited it a few weeks back for a late lunch. Nice and cosy atmosphere and good staff. It provides standard pub fare and ticks all the boxes.

We were a party of 11 adults. We had the dining area to ourselves. The service was perfect. The food was delicious and we could all hear each other

Friendly staff, good food, and a charming place. Will come back /certainly recommend to others. Note- There is a fixed price menu till 5pm. We were there later with plenty of choices and the average prices one finds elsewhere.

A really good roast, and a cosy venue The Greyhound is the type of place to go when you want to have a nice, authentic Sunday roast. Traditional, old school English pub, with amazing decor throughout. Upon entering, we walked into the pub area where the patrons were watching the six nations. We were then directed to the restaurant area where we waited to be served. The wait to be served was a little long. But after that it was plain sailing. As they were out of roast beef, I ordered the roast chicken and my wife ordered the roast pork. We had a lovely salmon dish and some skinny fries for a starter! Great selection of drinks, although we each had a non-alcoholic cider to wash down the food. Our server seemed a little off, and could’ve been a little more welcoming. Other than that, we had a great experience and would recommend this place for a roast as we had a great experience.

The Greyhound is the place to be for the 6 nations!! always an AMAZING atmosphere, they ring the bar bell any time there's a try! Plenty of big screens and a great crowd! Easy to order tasty cooked food snacks during the games, would very much recommend !!! thanks !!

A grand place to have just a 15 minute walk from the front door. Best guinness in the area, good food, especially the bavette which had great beefy flavour and excellent texture. Bravely cooked scallops were probably undercooked on the pass and perfect at the table. Service that makes you want to come back. Bravo Ann-Marie & Colum & team.

Sunday Roast at The Greyhound served by George. The food was delicious, best Sunday Roast we have had locally. Thoroughly recommend it. George was very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed.

Delicious food and lovely surroundings. A lovely mid week catch-up with friends and as it was quiet in January the serving staff let us chat between food and drinks. Didn't feel rushed at all.

Beautiful pub, lots of space for food, drinks, working from a pub or just chatting to the team. Went with the January set menu and did not disappoint. Scotch egg cooked beautifully with crispy kale and gnocchi were perfect with the mushrooms. Definitely will be back again.

A nice Sunday Lunch. Served well by Sue at the bar and then checked into restaurant for are pre booked Sunday lunch. We had booked for approx 1 1/2 hours. The meal was very nice but could have been warmer it was pretty cold by the time we had finished. Although we were told to mind the plates they were only luke warm. Could have sent it back but we carried on. A bit disappointed at the end with the puddings menu. Seven choices including cheese board. Of the remaining 6 I think 5 came with ice cream on a zero temperature day. Went for the Apple crumble option, only to be told it would take 45mins when we only had 30mins left roughly. Did it need to be defrosted? Didn’t have a desert in the end. Still a great place but not yet awesome. Nice bottle of wine.

The waitress Molly was fantastic. She was polite and helpful and went the extra mile. I even commented to my teenage daughters that they should observe her in readiness for when they get a waitressing job.

We had a lovely evening at The Greyhound. Dan was fabulous ~ I was hesitant about a wine and he graciously gave me a taste to help me choose exactly what I wanted. Biers were also great as well as the delicious fish and chips for a main course. Rounding out the evening Dan brought Christmas Pudding with ice cream. Yum! Delicious evening. Thank you Dan.

Had a nice group dinner at the Greyhound on a Monday night. Dan provided great service and recommendations as we started with drinks and transitioned to dinner. Christmas pudding was nice with some ice cream. Unfortunately they were out of sticky toffee pudding which I hear is excellent.

We went for a family lunch at the greyhound, and they were so accommodating & friendly! We had 2 kids and the dog, they found us a table & actually moved us to somewhere more comfortable without us having to ask. The food we had was very tasty & freshly cooked. We’ll definitely be back. Was super disappointed with the food and service. Curry was a tomato mush and mess. It’s not a curry it was bad. Steak and ale pie was good but pastry was tough and hard making it overall poor. Fish was over cooked. Venison (apart from them not even asking how it should be cooked) over cooked and dry and chewy. They waiters kept giving a face. Even though so many tables were empty they kept showing us to a corner place. Anyway food was the most disappointing.

We had a lovely, well presented christmas lunch. The staff all worked hard to make the whole experience wonderful. Although we both had a concern with part of our meal, it was resolved quickly and without fuss. On the whole I will highly recommend the Greyhound as a very friendly and ideal place to eat and enjoy. Sadly we did not stay as the table offered was not where we requested and did not want to spend approximately £150.00 sitting by a door whereby everybody walks past to get to the bathrooms. Staff not helpful so decided to leave

Excellent service from Anne and food was great especially the braised featherblade of beef with horseradish mash.

We visited The Greyhound in Carshalton for my daughter’s birthday, there were 6 adults 1 baby and 1 dog. Because we had our dog with us we were seated in the bar area and not in the restaurant, both were very nice and we had a lovely meal, even the puppy was made a fuss of and given some dog treats. My husband ordered at the bar as he was having trouble with his phone so he couldn’t use the QR code to order. When the meals were served 4 meals were correct and 2 meals unfortunately were not what my husband had ordered at the bar! The waitress was very nice about it and said she would speak to the chef, she came back and apologised saying the kitchen were dealing with it but there would be a slight delay. We were happy with the way the waitress dealt with it and also happy to wait. While we were waiting Archie came to apologise for the mix up and asked if we would like some drinks as an apology. Hats off to the staff especially Archie at The Greyhound in Carshalton, their customer service is second to none, which is quite rare these days! We will definitely be back, thank you to The Greyhound. Tracey

We had a hellishly long wait for our food, which kept being promised but never materialised - well over an hour. There was clearly no manager in charge and we felt sorry for the staff who kept apologising but didn’t seem to be in control. So disappointing as we haven’t been in ages and were meeting family there.

Little Gem and so glad we chose to stay. Very professional, clean and welcoming. Great one night stay.

This is a lovely hotel. The rooms were well appointed and the small finishing touches made it exceptional. The staff were welcoming, courteous and polite. The breakfast and dinner was superb. After a 25 year hiatus, having not been back here, it hasn’t changed, which was fantastic.
