Went for Sunday lunch, which I was expecting more from for £21 a head. The staff and surroundings and especially the beer garden were very good. However a large roast at £21 was not much bigger than a "little" roast at £17.. The oversized Yorkshire puddings filled the plates. Dissapointed as had heard good things of this pub.

It's mental. But the best thing to happen to the greyhound was the pandemic!! I use to park in the car park!!! But because of the pandemic (space etc) It's now the beer garden!! Tripled the size of the place. All nicely done off with tables, flag stones, huts and covers. Great flower baskets. Best pub in Ipswich. (Its worth the extra ££).

Revisit 4th July 2024 Still a great pub to visit. Food came out in good time, very tasty and filling. Staff attentive and polite. ########### Popped in for lunch today and it was very nice. The outside area has been done up so when they are allowed to open fully it will be very nice. Feel Covid secure so very happy. Food was a little slow to come but that seems to be the same with a few pubs I've been to so not marking down for that. I had the Bacon and Cheese burger which is home made and was very tasty, very pleased. Best Halloumi fries over ever had!! Can recommend them for sure. I had the Chocolate and Peanut butter brownie. It was nice but could have been a bit sweeter. Still very happy either way.

I have been to loads of places for Sunday lunch in suffolk because I love to have roast cooked for me. I am told by everyone I'm a great cook do a really tasty roast but cannot find anywhere that I enjoy more than mine except a few actually 3 places. For mothers day I choose this place as I'd read about the greyhound in evening star. I of course had my chicken roast. It was delicious I cannot praise the chef enough. It was best tastiest roast I have ever had in any suffolk restaurant. Service was exceptional and manageress even introduced herself and the owner/landlord. I liked the fact they do large roast or normal size with different prices. The meal I had was not overpriced especially for the quality and taste. Book here you definately will not be disappointed as I'm a great cook I am very fussy

During covid I spent some time here. A couple invited me over to join them. Not sure quite what happened, but they started feeling uncomfortable. They got up and went into the bar. Obviously decided to complain to staff instead of being honest with me. Landlord basically throws me out without hearing my side of the story. Never been back, never intend to. I am high function autistic, and do not tolerate being treated like that. I'm sure everyone else who works here is fine but the landlord needs to sort his attitude out. I'll stick to the Brewers Arms and the Woolpack thanks very much....they tolerate "different " in these two places.

This was once a lovely pub in a great location near the park, where one could go for a relaxed drink, maybe a Sunday roast, and just chill out. However, the owners have now decided to go all-in on the Gastropub approach. Which is fair enough, if it wasn't for the fact that they're running the place like some kind of factory farm. Every spare inch of inside and outside the pub is crammed full of tables and chairs, so tightly-packed that people are practically sitting on top of one another throughout. It's noisy, over-crowded, claustrophobic, and overwhelming. If you just want to go in for a quiet drink, forget it. There's nowhere to sit if you're not eating. We didn't stay to find out whether the food was as good as the reviews suggest, because the overall ambiance was horrible. We had one drink (outside in the cold as there were no seats inside) and they were insanely expensive too. I'm glad the owners are obviously doing a roaring trade, but what a shame that it's now basically a posher version of Isaacs.

We visited this pub after watching football in the afternoon. I have eaten here previously when the food was excellent so had suggested this would be a good place to go. Food was average at best. Two of us ordered burgers which were no better than off a burger van and came with a tiny portion of chips as a side. One ordered a hake dish which was very small for £20.00 and not particularly tasty. The other ordered small haddock and chips which was ok but nothing special. All round it was disappointing.

This has been one of my favourite pubs for more years than I care to remember. The beer has always been first class, now the food is also excellent and, to top it all, the former car park has been very tastefully converted to a very pleasant al fresco experience (maybe due to the pandemic encouraging outdoor living). All in all, a perfect pub.

We booked as we thought it wise, and it was! We also thought they had a car park, but this has been lost to seating now, so be warned - parking ain't easy! The interior is split into two parts, the front being rather dark and crammed full of tables, the back being infinitely preferable. The staff were great. On the ball and amusing. The food was excellent. My haddock and salad was devine and washed down with a pint of Broadside. My only moan was dogs. I really do not like dogs around when I'm eating, but that's a personal thing and not enough to put me off returning. But next time I'll get a cab as parking was a nightmare.

Nice gastropub. Not cheap but food really good. Only minor complaints were that the mushroom gnocchi was a bit greasy and the chips were only average. Note the website is slightly inaccurate as they no longer have a car park. They've replaced it with lots of outdoor tables, which is definitely better. The pods are particularly cool. Despite previously having a poor meal I thought I would try again. My rational being that the very least they would get right would be a Sunday roast. Sadly this was disappointing. Service was fine - was advised sirloin of beef would be served are - which suited me. However this arrived well done - no follow up to ask if all was ok so - ate little of it, veg was fine. Will not bother again. Will travel up to the Plough and sail which has never let me down. On a positive note they have made great use of the outdoor space which I am sure is a great boost for their business. The beer is always good

We attended as a party of 7, prebooked for the festive menu. The restaurant was very quiet but our table was not set up ready for us. A waitress arrived and handed cutlery and a poor excuse for a cracker. Starters finally were brought out which were quite acceptable. Our main course was a different story 6/7 had the hanging turkey which was stone cold and the vegetables were barely edible. The desserts were OK. I will not be returning any time soon.

recently visited the Lord Nelson Pub in Ipswich, and it was a truly enjoyable experience. The pub, located in the heart of Ipswich, has a charming and cozy atmosphere that makes you feel instantly at home. The interior combines traditional and modern touches, with wooden beams, dim lighting, and rustic furniture that create a relaxed and welcoming vibe. The staff were friendly and attentive, greeting me with a smile and ensuring I had everything I needed throughout my visit.
