Excellent Service from Tab this afternoon, lovely food! She was very helpful 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟

First visit. Really impressed! Lovely atmosphere as you walk through the doors and we were welcomed and seated straightaway. We were served by a lady named Tab who did everything to make sure we had a lovely meal. Will definitely visit again soon and highly recommend.

Ordered food same time as my daughter and think they lost my order as it took ages . My daughter had already finished her food but that wasn’t the only thing .it was my first time at beagle. Was just about to walk in doors and ask and staff member were food I ordered was when brought it out say oh we are very busy in kitchen . Don’t know how long it takes to fill a wrap and do chips but felt like ages . Then had to go back in to ask were cutlery and sauces was . which she said outside which means help yourself and not I will just get you some and would you like any sauces . Some in end I found were sauces and cutlery was keep outside and checked fridge for mayo which was none and couldn’t find vinegar . By time got back to my table I felt very disappointed and not wanting my wrap and chips . Beagle hasn’t lifted a great impression for my first time there .

Lovely old pub, ample parking, wheel chair accesable, 1st class traditional English food, friendly service definitely going again

A family member came over from USA for a visit and we all met up at the Beagel for lunch. Although it was pretty busy the service from our waitress was excellent, the atmosphere very pleasant and the food delicious. Between us we had the smoked Haddock and spinach fishcakes, the avocado salad, chicken and vegetable penang curry, a pizza and fish and chips. We also enjoyed several deserts including mini pudding with coffee, mango and passion fruit eton mess and vanilla creme brulee. My meal was gluten free as I'm a coeliac and the waitress was very helpful. A lot of the dishes on the menu had a gluten free option so I had a lot to choose from.

The food was excellent, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was excellent

Great Food and friendly service - really enjoy our evening

Eaten here over many decades! Quick welcome,taken to table and given menu. Orders taken effectively. Food arrives very quickly, nicely presented. Staff come round to check all in ok. Restaurant used to do dark couldn't read the menu, but now very light with added lights. All very clean. Large amount of tables outside.

Ordered fish and chips , fish was extremely dry, when I advised them was simply told they will let the kitchen staff know, no effort/offer to resolve

Firstly, the food was absolutely excellent. Delicious, hot, absolutely tip top. However, the service was just poor I’m afraid to say. It took half an hour to take our order and only after we had complained which was responded to in an impolite way. All in all the meal took over two and a half hours, which was mostly waiting. I prefer a leisurely meal but there was just four of us and this took it to an extreme. In addition, whenever we asked for empty glasses to be taken away it was again carried out in a rude manner. We heard our waitress ask for a review from another table. She didn’t ask us so maybe she already knew there was little point. Again the food was excellent but sadly the service left too much to be desired. I would avoid.

Busy Saturday night but bit of a disappointment

We had the most excellent service from Tab, very attentive and caring. Food was superb too.

The restaurant appeared to be understaffed, as we had to wait for about five minutes before being seated while staff while walking past and through us. When the waitress finally approached us, she made no effort to engage with us, no eye contact, no smile, just a flat 'You okay, guys?' while searching on the computer. Wouldn't serve my 19 year old brother a beer even though he was sitting having a meal with four other adults. Took ages to take our food order, then even longer to receive the starters. 'Crispy potatoes' with the fish dish turned out to be hard boiled mush while the fish and prawns themselves were of course flavourless. Served with a 'Creamy white wine sauce', runny slop. Fish cakes were extremely dry and bland, presumably all from a vacuum pack in the freezer. The bacon and mushroom sauce I had with my steak didn't resemble either of these ingredients, it was just dark coloured water. Overall, it was an underwhelming experience that left us wishing we had just cooked at home.

Working away can be an absolute pain but to find a nice pub with good food and beer is an essential. This pub ticks ✔️ all of the above

The wonderful waitress named Tab shared her fanny with me in the restaurant and it cooled me off to the point that I loved my meal thank you very much

Turned up at 5.30 hardly anyone eating. One member of staff behind the bar. Ordered quickly. Waited for our food which took far longer than it should have done. Food arrived cold and dry. Mine was ‘edible’ just. My partners was not. I’d finished mine and his still hadn’t arrived!!! Poor poor poor!!!! No one seemed to care about our issues or any one else’s. It’s was a Monday !!!!!!! Not acceptable

Go to the beagle every Saturday afternoon with a friend, a great pub that's always welcoming and friendly, the food is excellent and the bar staff are all very helpful and friendly,

We went out for a family meal last night which we thoroughly enjoyed. The food was really lovely and the restaurant is nice with a cosy vibe. Our waitress, Ella, was really great as she was helpful, kind and funny and genuinely went the extra mile to ensure we had a good night. Thank you very much for such an amazing and enjoyable evening and we will definitely be coming back again. :)

A drop in quality over what they used to be, based on this latest visit. Hunters chicken was rubbery and dry, poorly battered. Sea bass was overcooked and also dry.

I love this place and stay at the premier inn next door just to eat here. I stay away a lot with work and it’s nice to eat somewhere were the food doesn’t taste processed. Everyone is always friendly and this evening Kay went out her way to look after me. Thank u all again & c u soon.

Really lovely afternoon at the Beagle. Meal for 5 people and my baby nephew for mums birthday. Food was lush, service was great and Tab was great fun!

Had a wonderful birthday lunch for my mum. Tab was fabulous, super friendly and kept us laughing through out, definitely service with a smile. The food was excellent, I highly recommend the panag curry. We took advantage of the set menu 2 courses for £16.95, great value.

Tab was a lovely server, extremely welcoming and bubbly, will definitely be returning!!

Enjoyed our meals but thought drinks a bit pricy. Arrived a bit early for 12 noon opening. Prompt opening, welcomed, seated and drinks offered. Arrived promptly and acceptable wait for meals to arrive which we both enjoyed. Waitress (Tab) was friendly and helpful and over all service was excellent.

Great place to visit, we were really pleased with the food, service & price

Service was slow and our main meal came out before our dirty starter plates had been cleared. Table was in a doorway. Food was ok but we have had better from there. Lasagne burnt around edge and mac and cheese not as flavoursome. Small portions too.

In general we had a good evening, catching up with my wife's dad. The service was fairly good, forgot my wife's water but everything else was fine. The food was fine, not inspired, not terrible, average but fine. About what you'd expect from a chain pub where half the food, more than half maybe, was pre-prepped elsewhere and finished in the kitchen. It's one of the few pubs in our part of Suffolk which serves food on a Sunday evening, plus it was next door to the hotel where my father-in-law was staying. It was a perfectly nice evening, everyone enjoyed themselves in great surroundings - unlike most of these places the Beagle is a genuine old Suffolk pub, of course much expanded these days. We used to come here for dinner back in the '90's, long before the hotel was built. I'm an electric wheelchair user so some parts of my experience won't be of wide interest. The pub was accessible, I could access the toilets. It's a narrow doorway to get to where the toilets are, the pub could help by not storing chairs just in front of it. The disabled loo was just about ok, not brilliant, not awful, workable I would define it as. In general access and provision for wheelchair users was good. Manual chair users would want to park at the front of the pub, the car park round the back has no wheelchair spaces and there's a fairly short but steep slope up to the car park.

Good food, good service, good ambience, what more can you ask

My husband and I had a lovely lunch today at the Beagle. Food was excellent and our waitress Tab made the occasion even more enjoyable. She was friendly and chatty with plenty of banter! We were laughing at every encounter. Such an asset for the Beagle! We will definitely come again and hope to be served by her? The personalities of the staff are so important and make every occasion memorable...of course the meal has to be good too which is why we have given 5 stars!

Had an excellent meal at The Beagal. The food was great but the service received by Tab was over and above even though she was the only one working the restaurant. Very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

Have been to the Beagle on many occasions and it has been excellent. However tonight 21st June it was not good at All ! Fish cakes were overcooked and dry Spinach looked like it had been boiled to oblivion Steak and ale pie very dry very little meat 4 pieces and vegetables overcooked , the carrots looked like they came out the bin so overcooked like rubber . Very dissapointed 😞

Lovely pub with character, loads of space both inside and out and a fantastic service. Free car park with plenty of space. Food was delicious and presented extremely well. Good choice of beer. I will certainly be back with my family. 5 stars all the way.

Always great, polite and quick service. The food is incredible. Every time I have visited the staff have been attentive and kind. On one visit there was a very large party in for lunch, so we were pre-warned there could be slow service - there wasn’t, but I really appreciated the heads up in case! The pub itself is absolutely gorgeous. Lovely indoors and has a nice cosy feel in the evenings or equally nice to sit outdoors on a nice day! Dog friendly which is always a big plus! Prices are very reasonable, especially for the quality of the food and service. I would recommend to everyone whether for a date night or family lunch. The sticky chicken starter is a MUST try!

What an amazing waitress Tab is! Hilarious and kept us thoroughly entertained. Food was good and I love the atmosphere of this lovely pub - always fresh flowers on the tables and fairy lights everywhere.

They were very busy. The service was good and focused but I found the food not as good as it was on my previous visit. But all in all a good time was had by all in our party of 12. The free bottle of prosecco was a welcomed birthday treat.

Nicely design pub inside, with a warm and cosy feeling. The beers were lively and crisp, and staff members were very friendly and helpful. Until the time to eat arrived...1 hour wait for a steak and when it arrived, it wasn't rested and lying olin a pool of blood and texture was very rubbery and tasteless.

Kristy was super helpful and really lovely. The food was so tasty and the mood within the restaurant area was really chilled out and relaxing!

So myself and a business colleague went to The Beagle Wednesday midday and had a fabulous meal, Tab who served us is a "Walking Catford sarf London Miracle, big smile, whitty, charming, engaging, funny.... 10/10... with Va Va Vooooom.... Patrick 😉

My elderly mother wanted to treat the family to a meal out. We chose the Beagle. Our waitress was "Kay" she was very attentive and pleasant. The food was good. Three of us had fish and chips, one had curry and one had a pizza. We could not fault the service, and Kay should get a pay rise!

Amazing food and service at The Beagle for a lovely lunch on Bank Holiday Monday with the wifey. Our starters, prawn with chorizo and brie bites were lush and the mains, lamb & pork belly, were absolutely delicious. But what really made our lunch was our waitress. Tab was amazing, she was so welcoming, so funny, so attentive... she was absolutely divine! We will definitely be back at The Beagle!

My only criticism is, personally I found the portion size too big, I hate food waste, mentioned this to my server, and was told I could ask for a smaller portion, which is great, means I can have one of your fabulous desserts! A nice little pub just off the A14. We popped in for an impromptu breakfast on a trip towards the coast. Great choice of breakfast/brunch options (including vegan), alongside a good range of hot drinks. The service was also fantastic, highly recommended.

Stopped on way to Potters Resort , found this lovely Country type pub with decent restaurant , had main course ( steak n Ale pie ,spring onion mash , carrots and broccoli,) nice dessert ,pot of tea etc ,about £30 a head. Lovely atmosphere. Was a welcome pit stop on journey.
