Excellent ethical shop and café selling a wide variety of quality products including food drinks and household items. They also sell books CDs and other items in aid of the trust. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

A somewhat quirky place and ideal if you happen to be vegetarian or vegan, I am neither but it's all they offer (I knew this before I entered). Food menu is very limited and many dishes were unavailable. It tasted ok, though a bit bland and definitely overpriced. Mobile phones are banned (which isn't necessarily a bad thing) the staff are very friendly. There's a very interesting gallery and also a bookshop.

Perfect pit stop for some peace and quiet and proper wholefoods nosh in the city centre. Its kinda old school in a great way and they sell lots of unexpected goodies for the environmentally aware consumer. No phone zone a nice idea for people who struggle with hyper sensitivity. It's a little gem and great for stocking filler type gifts.

Lovely cafe restaurant and shop in the heart of the city. It's nice knowing that the money you spend here is used to fund campaigns to look after the environment. The food and coffee is very good and the staff are generally lovely and extremely helpful. A real asset to the city of Norwich.

This place really is over rated and over priced. The food is mediocre, the coffee is nothing to write home about and the tea was probably the cheapest catering pack they could get their hands on.

Lovely to be somewhere without background music or mobiles!!! Food generally good - and very nice to have somewhere to take vegan friends... but - coffee is truly horrible (sour and bitter) and an odd pricing system - salad bowel smaller than sandwiches but more expensive. Shame you cannot have a glass of wine without food but I guess that is their licence.

I've often visited the Greenhouse. The food is great, wholesome and organic. Today's visit was reminiscent of a John Cleese sketch, though; I was instructed to leave and banned.I got a call on my mobile (they don't like you using them in the Greenhouse), so when I was asked to get off my phone I tried to take it to the back yard (which was locked) then went and took the call in the porch. When I came back I said I had needed to take the call as my grandmother just died (it was the minister wanting to discuss funeral arrangements). I was called a liar and accused of being someone who uses my phone in the quiet carriage on the train, etc. Then I was told to leave, which I refused to do without having my food boxed up and my drink transferred to a take away cup or a refund (that was the first debate). The food eventually got chucked in boxes (he was shaking so much he could hardly do up the boxes), when I asked for the tea as well he wrestled the back door open and then chucked my tea in the yard. He said that they do have take away drinks cups but that I wasn't having one. Some 'discussion' later I was sitting again at the table near the till and established that they'd close up in 20 minutes but that I would not leave without a cup of tea or a refund. One of the volunteers tried to get a cup and got reprimanded then a volunteer suggested they just give me my money. So I was given my refund, escorted off the premises and told never to go back.I can't bring myself to be upset or angry, it's too ridiculous! It is the end of my access to really scrummy dairy free chocolate cake, which may be no bad thing, I suppose!

We have visited several times now over the years, always had good friendly service and tasty food and a calm relaxed atmosphere and have often brought friends along with us. We came at Christmas this year after coming a few years on the trot but felt disappointed when we were told we had to pre - book the Christmas Meal on this occasion. As we came from afar and were not aware of this, this sadly wasn't possible. However this hasn't put us off returning again.

This is the only place (at least the only place I know of) in Norwich where you are guaranteed 100% organic veggie/vegan food. The menu is quite limited but the food is delicious, healthy and ethical. I embrace a 'veganic' (vegan + organic) philosophy and lifestyle (for reasons of animal welfare, sustainable planet, global food security, soil and water protection, health etc) and I always choose to eat here because I know I can do so without compromising what I passionately believe in.I also love the fact that you can buy 100% organic veggie/vegan products and the products used in the kitchen and bathroom are also natural, ethical and environmentally-friendly.What more can I say? At busy times there is a buzz and at quiet times it is a peaceful oasis in the middle of a bustling city.

Despite being located near town centre, just a stones throw from city hall, the Greenhouse is one of the most peaceful places that I have eaten at in Norwich. The garden at the back is quiet, quaint and well-kept. All the food seems to have a rustic homemade feel to it, which lives up to the rural feel of the city which I been a resident of for the past three years. The salads are always diverse and colorful, and I'd especially recommend the Savory Rolls! The sandwiches and dessert portions seem generous and the bread pudding in particular is moorish. Personally I am not a vegan but it is places like this that make me realize the potential of vegan recipes. The products in the shop and cafe interior give visitors a flavor of the quality of organic produce that is used on the menu. Although the prices are a little higher than the average student may wish to spend, I'd recommend visiting here with family or friends, for a meal or simply a slice of cake with some organic cordial, it is well-worth the experience!

I have lunch regularly at the Greenhouse and am continually impressed by the yummy food. The salads change regularly and are invariably tasty, as are the soups. At busy times, the service can be a bit slow but the staff are always friendly and helpful, and often give an indication of how long it will take for the food to arrive at busy times. All this and it is a charity too, where many of the staff are volunteers. And the small, but well stocked shop, is just the icing on the cake!

Love the food here, right up my street, wholesome, fresh and tasty, if........they don't run out of everything !!!Last few times been here at no later than 1.30 they had run out of many items including hummous and salad !!!Very frustrating, they seems to be loads of staff , can't one of them run out to shops and replenish missing items so they don't miss out on trade , seems a bit silly. Don't go if your in a rush , but if a leisurely, healthy and tasty lunch is what your after then defo recommend!

Visited on Saturday lunchtime with two elderly friends. The place was nowhere near full, which was a bit of a surprise, and we were able to sit in the courtyard at the back, which is lovely. I had hummus with salad, my friends had soup with a choice of bread. All were very generous portions and very good; the menu is vegan/vegetarian/organic. It isn't clear that you need to order at the counter, and servers did not bother to clear tables until asked to do so. Otherwise excellent. They are a trust, and have a lot of information about renewable energy, etc, which they have put into practise on the building (the courtyard is shaded by a PV array).

I've been here a couple of times, last went on a saturday lunchtime. There weren't many other people, and we ordered and paid for our food and sat outside. We waited... and waited, and noticed that other people who had come after us seemed to be getting their food. After 40 minutes i went to enquire as to when our food would arrive. It seemed that they had somehow just forgotten to fulfill the order! It eventually came about 15 minutes later and they did apologise for the delay. I wouldn't have minded but i couldn't see how it could get forgotten between the till and the kitchen, which is immediatley behind! That said, the food is very very good, very yummy and very healthy. They just need to speed up a bit, especially as we'd ordered the pre made salads!! I've heard comments from other people that service is often slow. I've given them a rather generous 4 out of 5, somehow 3 didn't seem enough, but they do need to improve the service. Its put me off going here again unless I have a few hours to kill!

The Greenhouse is a fantastic place - it's an environmental trust in the heart of Norwich; powered by solar energy; second hand bookstore; ethical shop, and above all a great little cafe for a welcome break from the high street. The food is delicious - it's seasonal, ethically sourced, and often, in the summer, is home grown in the courtyard too! That certainly reduces food miles! The menu is pretty much the same each week, but with seasonal variants - for example the soup of the day is always made from seasonal veg and is a great bet - always a winner. The salad bowl is another great dish and again the seasonality makes it differ from your standard salad set up - so you're always in for a surprise! Jacket potatoes are a winner too, but, like the soup, can often sell out on a Saturday as they're popular. The specials are definitely worth a shot too especially if you're looking for something bigger and a fuller meal. They've recently started doing evening or special events, and I've been down to the wine tasting evening, as well as Christmas and Valentine's meals. The wines are ethically sourced too, and it makes a real difference coming to somewhere like this and not have to worry about where and how something was produced.I've marked the service down as a four - but that's probably a little unfair as they are all super friendly in there, however it can at times be a little slow. But this isn't the kind of place where speed is of the essence - it's a break from the hectic world outside, and is more in line with the 'slow food' ethos - there's no microwaves here. Plus all the cafe workers are volunteers which I think is very admirable. All in all this is a great place to escape and taste some really delicious down to earth organic food.
