Ordered hot chocolate which was warm. Noisy as floor is wooden and chairs metal Jarring and not peaceful aschairs scraped along the floor.

Lovely place that is open through morning and night.Went for a delicious breakfast there as a group. Order at the bar, food was delicious even though I left a suspect undercooked sausage (I'm wary as it is) but i'm being extremely picky from an otherwise lovely establishment. One of the popular eateries in Hornsea and I can see why. Dog friendly too and superb staff, defo coming here again when in next area.

There are lots of cafes in Hornsea but this is definitely the best one that we’ve tried. It’s obviously very popular with locals and visitors as it was pretty busy on what was a quite dull day. The coffee was good and my gluten free chocolate cake was delicious: light, moist and so chocolatey! My husband’s toasted teacake looked so tasty! There’s seating outside but we opted to sit inside near the bar which gave us a great view of the huge cocktail menu. Thank you very much to the lovely staff who looked after my backpack-it was an hour before I realised that it wasn’t on my back 🤷‍♀️😹 I am often a solo traveller and would feel very comfortable to visit the Green Owl again. Highly recommended!

Visited The Green Owl while on holiday in the area. The staff are welcoming and friendly, and we really enjoyed their excellent coffee and lovely cakes. One of the staff recommended coming in on Saturday night to see the band that was playing, and we had a great night. A good crowd, great atmosphere and good music.

I’ve been here before when in town and been impressed with the food offerings. I must say though, the ham sandwich I got for £8.50 last week was a disappointment.

The Green Owl is a cosy, small bar that seems to be quite popular with the locals. I had the shrimp baguette, which was really tasty and well-prepared. Alongside that, I tried the Indian spiced chips, which had great flavour, but unfortunately, they were far too salty for my taste. Despite that, it’s a nice spot with a friendly vibe, and I’d definitely be interested in coming back to try more from the menu. A good place for a quick bite if you’re in the area

Just been to Thursday pie night and it was absolutely amazing the best chicken leak and potato pie I've tasted and the gravy was so tasty.

Dropped by for a drink, My partner got avocado and poached egg on brown toast, looked amazing, and she said it was perfect. I got a side dish of Halloumi for £5.95, not haopy with the 2 small pieces served and cut in half. To be fair to the staff, he warned us that the portion size was not the best, still... overpriced, and the owners need to reduce that by at least £2.50 All in all, nice, friendly place on the main street.

I was disappointed today. The Green Owl has always been a place where you can eat well and drink good wine. Today they brought us cold pasta and cold couscous with vegetables, which was listed as hummus on the menu. Guys, are you serious? Did you want to surprise? You succeeded. But I didn't like this surprise. To be fair, I want to add that the shrimp in the salad were divine and they replaced the cold pasta with another ingredient at our request. Unfortunately, there was a bigger choice of dishes before. We'll know that next time. Good luck to you.

What a lovely pub to visit with the family. A lovely cosy place with kind and helpful staff who welcomed the whole family, including the dog (who got special treats!) Nothing was too much trouble, the food was delicious. Would not hesitate to return when next in the area. UPDATE: Aug 24. Returned a year later to find the layout has changed. Still a lovely space to visit, bright and airy, dog still welcome. Limited menu but the food was delicious and staff very kind. Lovely to see the chef cleaning down regularly. We look forward to returning again.

This place is probably one of the best places for food, drink & entertainment in Hornsea. Food is amazing, service is fantastic which is a testament to the owners! I would recommend this place all the time!

Bit busy nice food lovely spot overlooking the sea

The Green Owl is right in the centre of Hornsea town. It’s the perfect spot to sit in the sun and watch the world go by. The menu which has something for everyone and if you’re vegan or vegetarian you have a number of options which is wonderful: 5 stars for offering a vegan cheese toastie alongside the regular version. The super salad bowls and smashed potatoes with garlic and chives are really good too. Friendly service, inclusive menu and tasty food. Oh and it’s dog friendly and has board games on offer too. Next time we’re in Hornsea we’ll return here.

This is our go to cafe in Hornsea, been several times, food is fab, reasonably priced. I don’t mind waiting for the food as it means it’s freshly cooked, Always busy which we like as it has a good atmosphere. Staff are so friendly, we recently took our family from USA & although scones weren’t on the menu that day they brought some out for free. We’ve asked for other items not on the menu & they have always tried to provide. Love it

Food was delicious. Service was great. Only issue for us was the background noise of lots of people talking very loudly to be heard above the noise of other people talking very loudly! It was a Saturday, the weather was good, the place was packed both inside and outside front, which is great for business but not for a relaxing meal so I think next time, we will visit midweek to see if things are a bit calmer. Apologies If this sounds like a bit of kill joy. (we're getting older is my excuse!) Would definitely go again.

Recent visit to East Yorkshire as usual included Hornsea and this time we tried to explore the streets and areas away from the sea front. Arriving early the Green Owl was a great start/find, dog friendly, (two whippets) one of the tastiest breakfasts I've had, from a menu with plenty of choice, friendly staff, and with very clean modern toilets.

We only had coffees but they were the best coffees we've had for a long time.

Love this place, perfect place to stop when out for the day. Great food, portions are good, great for a Sunday stop gor a drink.

Lovely food and great atmosphere! A brilliant place to go for drinks and live music (on almost every weekend on the evenings and some Sunday afternoons). Food is also amazing from breakfast through to evenings - their mince pies and brandy cream were a lovely treat too! Just an update to say what a brilliant time we had at the Carnival fundraiser too!

Popped in for a drink on a sunny Fri afternoon. Good crowd inside and out . Friendly staff. Didnt eat so cant comment . Looked like a singer setting up but we had bus to catch but will return to try again

Steak Night: misleading social media advertising We went to steak night, as was strongly commented on Facebook local groups. Photo posted looks delicious. But when our family night out finally arrived we realised it was nothing like that. They offered regress meat cuts, when we ordered one. Mean: left over one. Also, our it didn’t come with salad, soggy chips and garden peas, not salad at all (as per photo). And everything else in the advert, we have to pay for, sauces and onion rings, as per social medias nothing was mentioned. My stars are going to the staff. They are friendly and helpful.

Waited nearly one hour for our breakfast in end got a refund and found another cafe!!

Heard great things, and seen great reviews. But we went for breakfast this morning, but after waiting for nearly an hour and no sign of the food we got a refund and left hungry. Food was coming out but not hours, despite being sat under the server window, they still didnt click we was waiting far too long. No apology and by time the waiter decided to say sorry it wont be long, it was too late! I know what happened as i was watching, when technolgy goes wrong what they should have done was back track what they had done and not done on the tickets, but that would have been too easy! Not enough staff for a start and the chap who was waiting on had a real issue with personal hygiene and shouldnt be anywhere a restuarant in my view. Done catering my self and i know things go wrong due to various factors but when we entered the place there was ony a couple of tables that where occupied so no excuse really, there was at least one other couple who left before us with a refund!Its a shame as we heard some great things and always busy day and night, we wont go back but im sure we wont be missed but there you go.

Stopped here by chance on our way to hornsea for breakfast. Friendly service, amazing food and great atmosphere. Just a shame we live 140 miles away otherwise we would be regulars ❤️

I had a steak on steak night it was amazing the dianne sauce was awesome and the staff couldn't do enough for us I would genuinely recommend to all to try the green owl you will not be disappointed

We accidentally came across this after finding lotsa places stop doing food at 3 in Hornsea.... Friendly, bit quirky, down to earth, brilliant menu, great helpful service, not sure wot u'd call it.... Mix of pub/cafe/restaurant... Thoroughly enjoyable experience

The green owl is great. It's always got a good trade and I have never been to one but they have live music which looks brilliant. From perfect hot drinks to a nice cold beer and they also do or at least did do good food.

We love the décor and atmosphere of the Green Owl. Great addition to Hornsea, especially with the live music. The bar area is a little small and when the band night was on, you find yourself having to push through to get served, but that's not a major issue and I suppose added to the atmosphere. We got a very warm welcome and lovely smile for the small dark haired girl, she never seemed to stop and managed to serve two or three people, compared to another (slightly glum) female member of staff's one! We can't wait to come and try the steak night as the reports we have heard from others is that the food is 5* quality, it certainly looks good. Keep up the great work, we will definitely be back

What a gem People visiting the area or locals get here have some lovely food and coffee or a pint.

We have been a few times , it's OK. I just think staff could be a bit more friendly as we have been a few times now. The young girls are lovely behind the bar it's the waitresses..lovely spot in Hornsea for when we visit .

The food is amazing. Always freshly cooked and everything is sourced locally, plus there’s a good selection of wines, beers & spirits. Band nights have a great party atmosphere and Sunday afternoon music / open mic sessions are fabulous.

Visited on a Friday night, food service had stopped early due to a live band being on later. Lots of tables reserved so meant choice was minimal. Service was polite and efficient and drinks were well presented and tasted good. Venue appears very small and cramped but it wasn’t too busy on our visit so was ok. Will try again for food soon as the menu and other guests photos look amazing!

Before the refit this was a lovely place to come. Lovely atmosphere. Excellent service and Excellent food. But since the refit, unfortunately now the atmosphere has changed, the space is so small, the food isn't great, and the price of the food is so expensive. Was a lovely place to go but unless changes are made quickly, their rivals are likely to send them under this year. Come on guys, this isn't progress

Lovely place, friendly staff. We had been down for the boxing day dip, so we stopped off for a hot drink before heading home. Ordered scone with jam and cream, hot chocolate x 2. Waited a bit longer than anticipated to receive the drinks after ordering. Had eaten our scones by time our drink had come out. Otherwise would havebeen 5 star.

Just had Christmas lunch which was lovely. Coming back next year
