Lovely pub, great home cooked food. Really pleased we popped in

Lovely pub staff great food ok but very over priced for what it is the quality is not brill . The best part of the meal was the cheesecake which was delicious. Also very cold so had to eat in coat

Shocked… we had a couple of steak meals which is very costly and it was horrendous. The steaks were tiny, had maybe 5 chips on the plate with half a tomato and 2 onion rings. Was not worth the money at all. Complained about the steak as it wasn’t cooked right so they took it away and presented me with the same steak which had peppercorn sauce on originally, so can only presume they washed the sauce off and cooked further. Was burnt one side on the replacement. I didn’t eat any of the meal and explained that I wasn’t happy about it so didn’t want the meal. When we went to pay, I expected the steak to be taken off the bill seen as I’d only eaten a couple of bites of the steak but they insisted that they are a small business and would deduct 30% off the steak meal. I was shocked they expected me to pay for something I didn’t eat. After we left and checked the receipt we also realised they had charged us for extra drinks that we didn’t have. Would never go back again. After speaking to the rest of our party we discovered that everyone thought their meals were ok but same standard as a Wetherspoons so doesn’t justify the high prices at all.

The best restaurant I've tried in the area. The food is excellent, and the service is impeccable.

Top notch pub with an extensive menu of tasty fare. The steak pie & chips was delish and a healthy enough portion that despite being hungry I could barely finish it. Four real ales to choose from along with the usual taps. Friendly service, altho maybe a smidge slow (it was quite busy and we were not sat in the main dining area so fair enough). My sister ordered the halloumi and mushroom burger but was served a halloumi and mushroom stir fry and ended up happier with that 🤣. We shared the black pudding scotch egg to start and it was superb. Highly recommend this charming spot.

We have been here so many times as it was my father in laws favorite place to eat . Since he passed last year we have been a few times but today we have been left so disappointed my daughters boyfriend ordered the chicken curry and it wasn’t to his liking he actually said it reminded him of the curry he had at soft play which I am sure would be packet he said he will just eat the rice but that’s not good so we asked if we could change it for the lasagne the owner came over and made us all feel so embarrassed saying it was his top seller and that we would have to pay for it . We never said that we wouldn’t pay for it but I’m sure this could have been done in a better manner much to say we won’t be going back such a shame

Very disappointed....looked at the reviews and thought we'd try the stags head as it was a while ago since we went. We ordered starters which were nice, main course sirloin steak 12oz.. my husband's were full of fat and gristle..we did mention it to the young waitress that he could only eat part of it due to the fat and gristle in his steak...but she never responded..that was the last we saw of her...both steaks we're 25.00 each but we're literally like rump steaks...we usually order rump when we go for meals so we thought we'd go one better with sirloin... But we're very disappointed for the price...for desserts my husband got sponge and custard and for 6.95 was like something they serve for school dinners... definitely not worth the money. So unfortunately we won't be going back.

Not been here in long time. I remember it was very good. Unfortunately last night's visit led me to leave a bad review of the food. The quality was there but Unfortunately our plates were swimming in grease. I even took to trying to mop it up with a napkin. It was terrible and i just couldn't eat it. I left feeling sick with the grease. Myself and my husband have decided we wont be returning.

The chicken stroganoff was disappointing, the chicken was overcooked and chewy, but the sauce was nice.The steak was nice but the flavours with the salmon were lacking in taste. We thought it was a little over priced for the quality produced.

Went here for a family meal for a birthday dinner. The food was not too bad hunters chicken which my dad latest had looked lovely. The surf and turf and mixed grill were ok, probably wouldn’t order again as we just found it all a little dry and not really worth the cost. Drinks where very good, had a couple IPAs which where served lovely. Staff friendly, had to repeatedly ask for a few things but it was pretty busy so can’t expect anything else if they are short staffed. I do like the cosy and warm, traditional decor and atmosphere.

An excellent venue for a surprise birthday party. From the organisation in a private room off the bar, to the warm and friendly welcome, nothing was too much trouble. The buffet was excellent, including sandwiches , sausage rolls, pork pie, chicken wings, smoked salmon, chips and a variety of salads. It was replenished during the evening and followed for those who wanted more by delicious desserts. Enjoyed by all who joined in the celebrations!

The serving staff were all faultless, so full credit to them. The food we had was disappointing. Cheap ingredients presented in an uninspired way. The place is quite nice but the cheap bulbs in the sconces shine too brightly in your eyes and it was cold! Had my dinner with my coat on!

Lunch on a Wednesday was a real find! King prawn thermidor rich and tasty followed by Belly Pork with Black Pudding Fritter. YUM! Decent portion and served hot which a lot of trendy restaurants can't seem to do. Delicious pavlova. Nice staff and recommend the local blonde beer. A fine example of good local pub

Unfortunately Sunday lunch was not great. We have been many times midweek and food always good. Today service was excellent but roast beef tough and tasteless, gammon very salty ,roast potatoes undercooked and cauliflower cheese lacking flavour and cheese sauce Very disappointing

El personal es muy agradable y en todos los sentidos dan una agradable sonrisa de bienvenida el menú es variado y atiende a todos. Tuvimos mains y budines el pastel de carne está lleno de carne sabrosa magra, también el filete de carne stroganoff era muy tierno y sabroso al igual que el pollo stroganoff mamá tenía el termador de langostino rey opción de platos pequeños que era excelente. Los lados eran gruesas patatas fritas cortadas a mano y arroz bien cocido y pan crujiente caliente. Los budines tenían que ser esponja de treacle para mí el resto tenía esponja de coco y mermelada y los brownies de chocolate porciones de buen tamaño y bien cocinados. Este es un pub cracking utilizado durante muchos años buena compañía, buena comida, y un entorno muy relajado recomiendo encarecidamente que volverá pronto.

Lovely place, made to feel very welcome and the two meals we had were both excellent. Staff were friendly, attentive and professional. The Sunday dinner and steak night are both thoroughly recommend.

We had a lovely meal on Saturday night. We were served by Dawn who was very friendly and kept us topped up with drinks and delicious food. All four of us had something different and it was all 5*. Would recommend. Busy, bustling pub.

Saturday evening, told there was to be live music. Bit nervous so booked early. We were a group of friends from across the country visiting a local friend. Wonderful food lovely friendly staff. And the music was brilliant. Thank you 'Team Stag' we will return when we are over here again. Of you are in the area you must visit the Stag!!

Fantastic place to go as a couple or a family

This is our third year visiting the Stags Head, whilst holidaying at Lelley Barns. We were afforded the same welcome as in previous years, the staff, comfort of surroundings and food are excellent. We are an extended family party with 8 adults, 4 children and 2 dogs. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Thank you to all for making our holiday memorable. We are in the process of booking for our 4th consecutive year, so we will hopefully see you next year.

I actually think that I'm addicted to the lasagne here, best I've tasted! All the food is amazing though and the staff so polite and welcoming. Home made delight!!

Situated about 10min from Hull, The Stags Head in Lelley is well worth a visit. From walking in the door there was an atmosphere of warmth and welcoming. The staff were very professional and happy to see you. As for the food, you will not find a better place to eat out in friendly surroundings.I had my go to meal of steak and ale pie and I can honestly say that I have never had a better or bigger pie. My wife added that it's worth going just for the desserts...lol. We will be going back soon for the steaks next. THANKS TO ALL @THE STAGS HEAD....XX

Love this place , always call in for meals when we stay in mappleton,food is lovely and decent portions, service is great and to top it off Dog friendly,Doris the Dane also has some sausages when go there,great choice ,check out the menu 👍👍👍👍

We visited here on two occasions while away with work and the food was fantastic! Great menu and great service which made it a really enjoyable experience. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting the area.

Great rural pub with excellent food and friendly service

Called in today for lunch, very friendly warm welcome. Enjoyed an excellent lunch with good food, excellent beer. Will definitely come back again as we were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived, ample parking.

called in on our way to our holiday let. Was a good decision, the friendly staff couldnt do enough for us. If you like a nice pint of hand pulled bitter the Taylors Landlord is the one for you. We ordered ploughmans lunch which was delicious, didnt need a desert afterwards. All in all we would recommend this place wholeheartedly.

Well we left a review last night 5* but tonight our 3rd visit, not so good different staff also I had the salmon well that was lovely but the potatoes that went with it where hard and not much cream I told 3 members of staff this and all they said was I will tell the chief, well sorry but what a let down and a waste of money

1st time for many years. New owners.Benefit of the doubt, we were there at 12 on the dot, but I was a little disappointed. The service was good and felt looked after. I had the Sunday roast and felt it was not hot enough. The roast potatoes were not fresh and not enjoyable and not enough gravy. The rhubarb crumble was excellent, and plenty of it with good Custard. May have been a bad day, and I will try again.

Went for our anniversary dinner the other night, fantastic food as always. Warm, friendly welcome and service, the food is excellent, I particularly enjoy their homemade steak pie, we did something different and had the sharer for starters, bigger than expected, but what a treat, really excellent and the belly pork was perfect.

Back at one of my favourite haunts and as usual it didn't disappoint! Wide choice on the menu for starters, mains and desserts. Lovely recently added touch is the table water, readily prepared so you don't need to ask for it. Booking advisable.

Fantastic pub lovely food and service visited a few times on our holiday

We never eat out - simply because it’s not worth the risk for our five year old boy who has an epi pen for a milk and egg allergy. We decided to try a Sunday lunch out somewhere and called around a few places - this place was the only one that gave me confidence that they took allergies seriously (as soon as I mentioned allergies to another they responded with ‘we’re actually fully booked’) Our meal was amazing. Sunday lunch was lovely, the beef melted in your mouth and the pie was perfect. The pork belly main was stunning and the puddings - the raspberry pavlova and chocolate fudge cake were perfect too. Generous portion sizes and reasonable cost No allergy menu but order what you would like and chef would advise if doable or not - bolognese and chips for the little one with a chocolate brownie and ice cream pudding, all allergen free. Thank you much. There should be more establishments like yours. 💙

Fantastic restaurant! Me and my partner went in on the off chance for food and drinks. We were very relieved to be able to be seated. The staff are very welcoming, helpful and friendly. The atmosphere in the restaurant was relaxing and had a "home like feeling" to it. I especially love the decorations/style/design. The food was delicious 🤤. Especially, with the food being fresh products! With a very good portion size. The desserts are fantastic! I could not leave without having one. Great prices for it all. We are definitely going back in the near future. Also recommend the friends and family. Thank you The Stags Head Inn.

Very friendly staff, greeted us with a smile and seated us quickly. Food arrived quickly and portions where huge. Had the steak and ale pie and it could of fed 2 people. Pie was packed with steak. Definitely recommend

Had high hopes for this pub however had a terrible Sunday Dinner and the children’s food was mediocre. I mentioned that my meal was over cooked and management were rude upon leaving, there was no offer of an alternative or discount.

Food, staff, service all excellent. This is truly an excelent pub serving fantastic food.

A ‘proper’ bit of home cooked grub with a lovely atmosphere. Very friendly staff and quick service. We had the Sunday lunch which was a 10/10 for me however the desserts were a solid 11/10. I will definitely be back!

Shame we can only give 5 star. Spent a lovely night at The Stag Inn for a surprise 70th birthday. Staff were very helpful. They let us decorate the room and nothing was too much with any request we had. The cold buffet was delicious and plentiful. Highly recommend

Delicious food, excellent attentive service even though it was fairly busy. Sunday roast was delicious (be sure to order the cauliflower cheese!). Chicken sizzler, sirloin steak and Hunter's chicken all highly rated on our table, too

Had the black pudding scotch egg to start followed by a steak with peppercorn sauce,both done to perfection it was lovely,staff freindly and attentive, would recommend.

There home made steak & ale pie is a cracker and a beast had many over the years but this has to be up there great meal as usual very friendly and relaxed and one hell of a chef the salmon was also very tasty well done

Lovely little village pub! Very local feel with great food and customer service. Staff were welcoming and friendly and the atmosphere was lovely!

Lovely pub in terms of interior, art on the walls, polite, friendly staff. However we ordered 2 burgers at 16.95 each and the only edible part of the meal was the chips. We were informed the burger was locally sourced from the butchers however the taste was disgusting and extremely cheap. The burger came with no sauce, extremely soggy from the wet salad, with huge bits of fatty bacon that weren't crispy. We hate complaining as I've worked in hospitality but when asked if the food was OK I was honest. No discount or anything for our poor experience, will not be returning. Tips for the chef - toast the bread bun, make sure the salad isn't wet, make sure the bacon is crispy, maybe make your own fresh smashed burgers, and offer an option of sauces to compliment the burger. Well done on the chips!

Great traditional pub with friendly staff and some lovely beers. Well worth a visit.

Went on the off chance because we didn't fancy a take away. Had a lovely meal with my wife and daughter. Adult meals where fantastic really nice atmosphere and really freindly staff. The children's meal was poor though but it was only £7, I felt bad for my daughter she was very disappointed and we ended up giving her some of ours.

This place has become my guilty pleasure! Fabulous food, wide menu to suit all tastes. A huge platefuls of food at decent prices. All meals cooked from fresh and piping hot, well worth the wait. Staff are friendly and welcoming, nothing too much trouble. A great little venue for any occasion and highly recommended. Book in advance to avoid disappointment.

Thursday steak night, great steaks and value for money, two Sirloin's cooked to perfection with all the trimmings sauce of you choice and a bottle of wine between 2 £35.00 friendly staff need I say more

I've been a few times recently & each time I mean to write a review because the food is so good! It's a lovely warm inviting pub with friendly staff. The service is great & the food excellent. Recently I've had steak pie, the belly pork & a Sunday roast all were tasty & served fresh & piping hot.
