Friendly and helpful lady behind counter who gave me advise on what to order when I told her of my preferences. The food I have had here has both been very tasty but also very good portions. My only negative is that if you want to pay by card then you have to spend £15 or more. Not a big deal if buying for more than one person, but as a single person can be a pain.

Ordered a salt and pepper chicken with max veg noodles and paid 15£ . All for a burnt salt and pepper chicken and a mix veg ‘Singapore noodles ‘ I called back and the lady said that this a how they do Chicken and that it’s not burnt and that they use thin noodles which if they do then they should let their customers know about it . Very disappointing service. I’m not going to order again .

Absolutely Minging ! Had ribs which are deep fried not baked but god alone knows what they were fried in as the aftertaste is awful (gopping as the old Army phrase went). I think they bake them first then whack them in the fryer to order from the freezer as no Chef would allow this to leave theor kitchen !!! Chips (and I know I have not gone traditional) tasted like they had been cooked yesterday then kept warm to the point ALL moisture had been removed. Next time I think I'm hungry I'll make a sandwich of cardboard and wood paste and save myself a trip....

Although we have lived quite near The Great Wall for many years, this was our first visit since it became takeaway only. They don't seem to have an online presence of any kind. All we could find was a a couple photos of old menus which customers have posted, so we went in person to order. We had Sweet and Sour Chicken Balls, Special Chow Mein, King Prawn Kung Po, Special Foo Yung, chips and curry sauce. We didn't order any rice because we had plenty at home. The Special Chow Mein was very good, but the rest of the food was pretty average apart from the chips which were absolutely appalling. The chicken itself was OK, but the batter was too thick and tough. The King Prawn Kung PO was very nicely seasoned, but there were not many prawns, and it had lots of cashews nuts. I doubt we will be returning.

This is the best Chinese takeaway around here, by a long shot. Food is always fresh, never to much salt and always tastes lovely. Some of the negative reviews here seem 'manufactured' to me, they like to mention a rival as better but that rival got taken to court a couple of years ago for very poor hygiene standards. To the reviewer who didn't like the chips from Great Wall...they do not, and have never done chips.

We have been ordering food from Great Wall for the last 5 years since moving to WGC and everytime the food is piping hot, fresh, clean and delicious! I especially love their chicken curry, it is to die for! The best thing about Great Wall is that they use really nice chicken, duck and pork in their dishes, and not the rubbery meat you get at many other chinese places. They definitely know how to make their sauces too. They always put lovely fresh crunchy vegetables in dishes too..so wonderful. We have tried the other chinese places in WGC and Hatfield but this has got to be the best chinese take away in WGC by a mile. Thank you Shirley! P.s you need to make a face book page as so many people have been rating your take away very highly on the WGC FB page! Jade, Chak & Emily xxx

We usually use them during the week and found them good. However last night(Friday) we had one from them. The chicken balls were terrible. Dry chicken far too much batter and stale! The rice was okay. The noodles were dry tasteless and with 4 king prawn! The chicken in black bean sauce was inedible. And the crispy chilli beef was more like crispy chilli carrot! Disgusted. Unfortunately we will not be using them again as a short drive away there is a Chinese that is consistent. Oh and we waited 45 minutes for them to give us a terrible £25 worth of slop. Shame as they have been good. Never again though. Do yourself a favour. Go elsewhere.

Worst Chinese takeaway I have ever experienced. Ribs were dry and crumbly, almost like biscuits, I'd go as far to say that cat or dog biscuits would have been nicer. Some sauce and bits of onion chucked on top. Noodles were full of msg/salt. Bits of chicken had been tenderised and again the sauce was just full of salt. Called them back to let them know, response was that maybe I just wasn't used to their style of cooking....too right I wasn't. Wouldn't have written this review had they taken my feedback normally and possibly offered some sort of discount or something to entice me back (I would still have been reluctant)... Avoid at all costs if you want anything near traditional Chinese cooking... Maybe this was a one off, but from my call back it seemed like they didn't care.

This place, to me, absolutely nails the sweet spot of taste & value for money. In my opinion, The East and possibly Hakalok serve nicer food. But they charge £££ for that, which is fair enough. This place charges similar to all the other "run of the mill" Chinese takeaways in our town, and even less than some of the bad ones. But the food is between good and excellent with almost all dishes. I have been eating here for decades so I can honestly say I've eaten almost everything on the menu, very few things I wouldn't recommend to someone. This is my go to Chinese if I want a regular, nice meal with my family. If it is a special occasion, take a look at The East or maybe Hakalok.

Perfectly acceptable standard Chinese food here, and service was good. A bit dated inside, and although the menu is quite extensive, with Thai as well as Chinese variations, I would prefer it if there was something a bit more adventurous on offer. But that, I'm afraid, is a common problem with all the local Chinese restaurants. The bill was a pleasant surprise - very good value at £20 per head.

When we first moved here we used to visit the restaurant on a regular basis but over the years it just lacked atmosphere and be and more of a take away so we stopped going. On Saturday we had friends visiting and the weather was awful so we decided to just call up and order a takeaway. The English woman taking the orders in the phone was a bit hard work, kept having to repeat myself, we were told half hour, as we arrived I had a call on my mobile to say that the order would be ready in ten minutes, I walked through the door and my food was already in the counter??Don't know how Ing it had sat there? On arriving home, I must say the food was really lovely, only two criticisms the prawn balls were stodgy and certainly not king prawns and the prawn crackers were burnt.Apart from that we were pleasantly surprised and will use again.

This has always been a good reasonably priced Chinese restaurant. Considering the quality of the food and the fact that the Indian restaurant on the same parade is always crowded it is surprising that the restaurant is usually empty. We have never had a bad meal there over a period of about 15 years, however due to the low No of customers it pays to check that they are open as they sometimes shut early. A Gem.

This chinese/thai/japanese restaurant is really something special. The chef is committed to healthy cooking - really fresh ingredients with minimal salt, fat and msg. The result is the best chinese food I've had anywhere. Although not the most attractive of restaurants, the large tables with ample space between more than makes up for it. Best of all, however, is the service - extremely friendly and attentive. We've been regulars for eight years and hope to remain so for many years to come.

I like the food from here - usually have takeaway.I recently asked for something that was not on the menu and the chef would not cook it - reason being that it was not palatable to him and not worthy of his talents (I just wanted something cooked very plainly for someone with dietary requirements - just part of a much larger "on menu" order). After a long conversation I left a little disgruntled - though the person serving me could not have been more helpful - really good. Surely giving the customer what they want is importnat...Generally though the food is nice - probably the best Chinese in WGC. Highly recommended - if you want to eat off the menu.
