Dated rooms, poor desk service- very slap dash. Breakfast was great though. The breakfast staff were polite and welcoming shame about the front desk

Stayed here to be close to a family event. Spotlessly clean bedroom and bathroom but bedroom in need of an upgrade. Very comfortable bed. Water in the bathroom was dangerously hot and I couldn't use over the bath shower as there was no bath mat and the bath was super smooth and slippery,an accident waiting to happen. Average breakfast, although the cooked element was very good. Sadly, it was cooked and delivered with such speed that I was only halfway through my cereal,so by the time I ate it, it was cooling rapidly as it was on a cold plate. Insipid coffee. Public areas are well decorated but the overall impression was very dated.

Went to a Neil Diamond Tribute with meal 14.12.2024, £42.50 per head Neil Diamond was rubbish and much to loud. The meal was rubbish, my friend gets better from meals on wheels. the DJ was very good Peter

Held our charity away day here in Nov 24, food terrible really poor quality and self serve supermarket coffee but not at supermarket prices. When I complained it took nearly 2 months to get a response - staff said food was standard! doesn't matter that 10 attendees said different. oh and a zero refund policy. Customer service worse from a manager that says he’s got a great track record - seriously, read your rating and reviews…..

Not a bad location but for the money the room i initially had was dark because of bulb out but got a different room which was clean but seemed dated in comparison to other hotels I've visited

I went to see Neil Diamond Tribute last night Entertainment was good but very disappointed With the food not enough no tea or coffee or after dinner mints and the desert cheesecake was an absolute joke i ha ve never seen a piece of cheesecake so small it was a joke I’ve been going several years but this year was the most dissapointing and it has changed my view whether to go again really disappointed with the food plus the building itself needs an overall several cracks everywhere and us extremely old fashioned needs updating the staff were good and very pleasant

Receptionist Nicky. She is amazing and a credit to the hotel. Look it’s dated and needs refurbishing but it’s a cheap place to stay in Birmingham and I use it all the time

WORST HOTEL EVER !!!!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY! Disgusting maintenance levels Mouldy and Dirty bathroom ! 🤮 Rooms are freezing cold and the heating does not work. Asked reception for help in sorting the heating out and the staff had not one way to help. Hallways stink in a VERY UNPLEASANT Manner Staff not present and extremely unhelpful They are swift in taking your money but when you ask for a refund they won’t cooperate as quick. A so called Hotel unable to make arrangements for refunds at reception. What a joke! Manager is cluless about everything and does not have a satisfactory nor suitable level of Customer service. No respect for customers at all. Rude and not helpful

A good value hotel, does the job. Bar and food all OK. rooms maybe a little dated but comfortable and quiet. I had a good night's sleep.

Terrible experience with this hotel went to view it with a view to booking it for the celebration of our father's life to take place after his funeral service. We were told by the duty manager that we could hold it in the bar area due to the event taking place during the day on a week day, all we had to do was phone the event team with the date of the funeral Two days later whilst at the funeral directors I rang the events team to confirm the date and time only to be told "no you can't have the bar area" I explained the manager said this would be available as the other room we were shown as an alternative was dark and dingy. The lady I was talking to on the phone who wasn't at all polite said "the manager is new so wouldn't know what he is talking about" and hung up the phone. I would be very careful if you are considering this hotel for an event, the staff need to communicate better with each other and certainly with prospective customers.

Function room funeral, good location for our needs, well catered for. Maybe need a larger bar area.

Staff and conference facilities excellent. Evening meal was expensive but cordon bleu quality.

If you like mould in your room then this is the place for you! Run down! Apparently £1million investment but don't see that being spent on the rooms or hotel. Staff all friendly, location... well it's Great Barr so.. if you find more about that on the internet and if you like the smell of weed in your window then this is more for the place for you! Breakfast is good though and would say its a quiet spot.

Beer over priced no need it's not in the middle of Birmingham. Clean and tidy though.

Lovely food, very filling, unfortunately the room let it down, dated and quite a grubby shower with some hairs in it, taps were faulty too, my own fault for not mentioning it to the hotel but it was late and I was tired, all depends on how much you pay for the hotel

Room very dated and small..but clean.. The cups supplied for our tea and coffee hadn't been washed from the previous customers. The breakfast made up for it. It was lovely..

Excellent staff, rooms a bit tired,but prices are good rate compared to premier Inn 👏

Had a theme night here (Greece) it was great! I wasnt expecting much, but the food was lovely and the entertainment was fab too. Would actually go again. Have been to other higher end hotels for themed nights and this was way better in every way.

Rooms different, rather simple. Price is cheap and the staff is friendly.

I recently stayed at The great Barr hotel and unfortunately, my experience was far from unsatisfactory. The most glaring issue was the consistent lack of water in my room for the days. This basic necessity was not met, leading to discomfort and frustration throughout my stay. Furthermore, the overall service at the hotel fell short of expectations. From delayed responses to unaddressed concerns, the staff's handling of the situation was disappointing. The lack of proactive measures to resolve the hot water problem added to the overall dissatisfaction with my stay. Despite the promising features of the hotel, such as its convenient location and amenities, the recurring hot water issue overshadowed any positive aspects. As a guest, I expected a certain level of service and comfort, which unfortunately was not met during my time at The great Barr hotel. I hope that the management takes steps to address these issues for the benefit of future guests.

Very nice place for stay. Nice accomodations, tidy and clean environment.

Located a bit off the main road but with good access to the M5 and M6

Great value room. Well worth getting the breakfast.

My first time I checked in here room that was allocated to me in good price for booking was leaking with water on the ceiling for some time even the cleaners did not notice and the carpet was soaked in the bedroom really gutted. Receptionist was good but did not help me to move things around.

Place was falling apart. Leaky rooms. And I noticed the Desk Lady speak to a client rudely. Like she couldn't be bothered to answer his question. Great location though.

You can always see what sort of customer service expeirence you are dealing with, when Management or Leadership do not even acknowledge and respond on Google regarding negative feedback. Outdated, not with the times similar to the hotel. Thankfully for them they probably have enough customers to not concern themselves with such trivial matters.

Stayed Saturday till Monday absolutely fantastic rooms brilliant staff .room nice clean and cozy can't wait to go back soon Mr Mrs smith

25th to 29th March park was exceptional clean and tidy stayed in a lodge amazing found all areas clean bar restaurant arcade children's activitie area clean with helpful staff pool looked excellent too although didn't use this time

Unfortunately the front desk staff do not listen to you as a customer they talk down to as if you came in on the bottom of someone’s shoe, not pleasant at all

I think this hotel needs some TLC the bath was all stained the furniture was all chipped and the carpet would of walked out itself if it had legs 🤦‍♀️ the curtains in the dining area are hanging off the rail. I don't think I'll be going back

Wanted to book a table in the restaurant for a 70th birthday dinner but was told we would have to have it in the bar even though they had a nice restaurant, when we said we wanted it in the restaurant they refused, went to another restaurant and spent £112 unfortunately that’s money that this hotel lost

Just got caught for parking fine as I did not see the check-in point. Will think before I ever go again.
