I lived close by to this pub, and been a few times and it was an ok place to have a drink. I booked a party here and due to Covid I needed to change it by a year, which was no problem. Unfortunately, we still had issues due to Covid and it had to be changed again. The 2nd lot of contact was beyond rude. I have now cancelled my party based on this, as who wants to have a party somewhere when they've been rude to you? Not very encouraging. I am not a rude person, and I haven't done or said anything to deserve this. So this is a reply I just received from the owner - Peter - after expressing my dissatisfaction at the contact I previously received: We're doing very well thanks for your concern...... Apologies for what btw you was very rude to my staff so in all honesty you should be apologising to them but hay hoe you obviously think your above your station all I can say is good luck to the new venue there gonna duckin need it...... Off you duck 🖕 (changed swear words due to submitting the review) So, not much else to say. Give your money elsewhere.

The Grapes 🍇 is a great pub for families or singles. Never had a bad night in there. Always starts off quiet and ends up great fun. Entertainment nights and karaoke make this a great place to visit

The owners of the Grapes were so support and helpful, during what was a difficult time for our family. Nothing was too much trouble and the food and excellent.

I have eaten here twice and thoroughly enjoyed the food and drinks. I live down the road 5min walk and love the atmosphere in The Grapes. Also, the regulars are very friendly. It has a club feel about it in the back bar. They also have all sorts of events going on and some good music nights. The landlord and Landlady (Pete and Shelly) are so accommodating and always make us feel welcome.

This is a really old pub (about 1876) that has been brought to current times with loads of things going on. We called in for the Carvery..and it was so well worth the visit. The Carvery is in the back bar -it's really light and airy in there) and the Chef is there to serve you. We went on a Sunday and were offered a choice of lamb, gammon or beef ...and two choices of beef: medium or well done. Well, that's a first - my preference for 'well done' beef usually meets with a look of disdain, but here it was on offer for you to choose. Plenty of vegetables: Mashed potatoes, roast potatoes (beautiful and fluffy), cauliflower cheese, peas, carrots, and more plus Yorkshire Puddings. An assortment of sauces and gravies were available. The Carvery is very reasonable to start with. A choice of desert is also available. The staff there are very, very welcoming and efficient. It is a busy pub, but the hustle of the main bar is away from this room, where you can enjoy your meal in a bright, clean atmosphere.

Invited here for Grandmother’s birthday meal. Thankfully we did our research beforehand and realised that parking was limited so car shared with others. One guest got so frustrated with trying to find a space that she gave up and drove home again! The place wasn’t big enough for all of us so we were sat on 3 big separate tables, not their fault but hardly a ‘family’ meal when you’re all sat separately... Table(s) was booked well in advanced, yet food choices were limited because they’d run out of certain meats. The food was beautiful and the portions were generous but the service was slow and some people had finished their meal by the time others arrived! Pudding was limited, there was no actual menu and the waitress didn’t really know what they had or what was in it so we didn’t bother in the end. Prices were reasonable & the facilities were clean. Overall, I just don’t think it was a great choice of venue for so many of us but that isn’t their fault and they tried very hard to make us all feel welcome. Would return again with a smaller group.

Lovely freindy staff, very welcoming, nice menu, catering for all. If I lived nearer I would pop in regularly. My second visit, and still as good as the first

This was a lovely pretty tea room overlooking the high street. The staff were friendly and pleasant. The lunch menu was very varied and the food we ordered was of a very good standard.

Always a great place to eat. Fresh produce, cooked to perfection. Friendly staff and a good atmosphere. If you’re ever looking for quality food in beautiful surroundings Church Street is the place to go.
