We stumbled upon this gem as we were looking for somewhere to shelter from the rain. We stayed for 2 hours and had a lovely experience. We had the wine flight and then several glasses after. The vibe was spot on, relaxed atmosphere, welcoming, great music and the staff were absolutely delightful. We saw others having some cheeses and were a little jealous as we had dinner booked somewhere else. If we are ever back in the area, we will definitely visit again. Such a delight on a rainy Saturday afternoon ✨️ 😌

If you only have time for one drink in Cheltenham, this is the place to go. We popped in on a Saturday afternoon, which was on our last night during a stay in town, so we had dinner reservations and couldn’t linger. We had one glass of wine each and mine was one of the best glasses of white wine I can remember. I ordered a Chardonnay, which is usually my least favourite white, but I figured it had to be good here so took a chance. the boy had something red that he also loved. The wine was delicious. It was frustrating that we couldn’t stay for another. The atmosphere was relaxed with a gentle buzz of conversation, and the hosts were friendly and welcoming. I wish we had a wine bar like this closer to home.

Great wine bar with a huge choice of wines by the bottle, and a decent range of wines by the glass. The glass list changes weekly, and contains a few staples but plenty of more unusual wines. Very easy to sit there and work your way through the list! Lovely feel to the place, the owners very friendly and happy to chat, I suspect they have a lot of returning customers. Sunday afternoon music wasn't bad either...

Wow, what a find. I cant believe I have not been here before. I was taken by my daughter for my birthday and we thought we would take on the wine flight. A bargain an really great fun. The staff were extremely attentive, despite our very obvious lack of wine knowledge. A wonderfully calm and tranquil setting. The cheeseboard was incredible too. This will very quickly become one of my very favourite places to go. Don't miss out.

We visited Cheltenham on the weekend as a get together with friends so we were looking for something a bit different than a normal bar/restaurant. Through research we discovered ’The Grape Escape’ and e-mailed to book a table! It was the highlight of our weekend!!! We went for the wine tasting option so the competition was on between us all to see who could get the most right! We had a ball but apart from our little competition, the wines were superb. Ant really knows his stuff and was so welcoming and accommodating! We also had the cheese and charcuterie which was excellent! If you’re visiting Cheltenham then go here, it really is worth a visit! 5/5 * Fabulous!!!!

Visited with my partner on a short break away. We fancied doing some wine tasting and thought we would try this place. What a great choice and cannot recommend Anthony's place enough, we was a great host and offered loads of advise for amateurs like me, a good selection of cold meats and cheese to boot and you have a great evening. What were the scores ..I did not get zero so I was happy ...a respectful 2 lol, my partner who claims to be a pro got 2 as well ..she was mortified which made the evening even more fun. Would definitely recommend Ant is a great host and very knowledgeable.

My husband and I visited on a trip to the Cotswolds for our wedding anniversary. We booked a table for pre dinner drinks and had the loveliest welcome from the owners. Their knowledge of wine was incredible and the menu and selection available was fantastic. We went for a flight each (5 wines) which was very reasonably priced and a great way to sample the offering! The bar has a great ambiance - it’s the perfect balance between being sat in a friends kitchen chatting about good vino, with great music playing and a quaint, homely bar! Would 100% recommend! We were so sad when the Grape had to close their doors for lockdown, however their weekly wine deliveries (and cheery smiles!) became the highlight of our week. The virtual wine tastings were also great fun and a great way to feel like you'd had a night out whilst being in the comfort of you own home. The virtual tastings are going to continue and a whole new world of guest winemakers and experts has opened up. Highlight of the tastings so far has been the legend that is Jim Clendenen of ABC wines live from his home in California!! What a man!! We are now very happy they have opened their doors again to provide all the amazing wines and great service we have become accustomed to. The other thing to note is that they have gone above and beyond to provide a safe place to drink. Limited numbers, well spaced out tables, menu on your phone via a QR code and thorough cleaning throughout the day. We feel very relaxed knowing they have taken care of everything meaning we get to sit back and enjoy ourselves. It really is a lovely slice of normality in these turbulent times.

Definitivamente volveremos.

Great wine bar run by Ant and Zoe. We call in after the races in Oct, Dec, Jan and April. The welcome is great and the wine is superb. They always have a good range at modest prices and then the Coravin range where you can try pricey wines by the glass. We start off sensibly and then after a discussion with Ant get involved in the more serious stuff. £2 of nibbles and £98 of wine is a trap willingly fallen into. Definitely plan to walk back to your hotel. I know where our pension money would go if we were locals - fortunately we live in Kent.

This place is something really special; the wine list is wonderful, with an impressive range. Everything I tasted over three nights (it's the kind of place you just keep going back to) was good and fairly priced - there are also some real bargains and special offers. But it's more than that. It's comfortable, the service and hospitality are just right and everything - from the glasses they serve the water in to the little snacks, the cheeses, the bread, the ambiance, the quirky music that is somehow perfect - everything is top quality. There are no short cuts. You feel genuinely welcomed by co owners Ant and Zoe. Creating a place like this takes a huge amount of care and skill. He just loves wine and this makes for a fab experience!

We had such a great evening here that we've already been recommending it to friends. The owners Ant and Zoe are very knowledgeable about the extensive range of wines they sell yet there is no stuffiness about them or the bar - just a genuine interest in making wine-tasting fun and interesting. Trying the wine flight blind (I had the white wine) was really interesting and great fun. They really opened our eyes to some wines that we would never have looked at before and I certainly know what I want on my Christmas list - the FMC! The Grape Escape will definitely be our first stop on our next visit to Cheltenham!

Went here on a Friday, as before 7pm there is £10.00 off any bottle of Fizz. The service in this bar is second to none, and you feel so welcome that you want to go back and visit them again. There is also a newsletter on their website that you can sign up for so that you get to know all the events and offers in advance.

Popped in for a quick, early evening drink in this relatively new wine bar.

My first impression of the bar was the strong smell of disinfectant when I walked through the door. We looked at the wine list which is certainly extensive but prices are on the high side for this part of town. We tried a glass of red priced at £9 - then discovered that is only for 125ml which is very small. The wine was average. We later bought a different bottle to share which is better value but still, the cheapest bottles are around £24 and go up to prices you'd only expect in a fine dining restaurant which this is not. The wine was OK but you can get better wines in other bars in Montpellier which is a nicer part of town. The food platters were better quality, no complaints there. I'm not sure I will be back unless they review their prices.

Came last week with my wife and my sister in law and her husband and their 1 year old. We were the only people there in the early evening. The hosts couldn't do enough, great service and lovely wine. Good work.

We visited this newly opened wine bar recently and we will definitely return. If you like wine but different and unusual, but very palatable wines in particular, this place is for you. The owners are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about their wines - which is infectious. There are a number of different wines that you can try by the glass, rather than having to buy a bottle. What we particularly liked was that the owners support local growers and we had one divine local dessert wine which was absolutely perfect. Our visit was as a prelude to dinner elsewhere, but we will return for a longer visit in the near future.

Tried the 5 course menu one evening at Jonas at GL50. The quality was fantastic, superbly prepared and presented with style and enthusiasm by the chefs themselves. The flavours were intense on every course but not over flavoured. The front of house was also very good. This restaurant deserves to be very successful. My only feedback on changing things was that the wine flight, at £45/head for three small (c125ml) glasses of wine each, we thought excessive. Nice wines but (to us) no more so than the wines we would normally chose in a quality restaurant for £30-£40 for the bottle. I think adding just more one glass of wine so you didn’t need to ‘manage a glass across two savoury courses’ would make the wine flight feel a little better value.

Very disappointed. The place was cold so sat in our coats. I had a coffee to warm me up which cost £4.75 - ridiculous price. We had to wait an hour for our food even though it was not busy. The food was nicely cooked but very small for the price. Will not be going back in a hurry.

Daphne is always a great place to get away from the festival crowds in a pretty side street just off the Royal Well Crescent and a short walk from the vibrant Promenade. Ilhan the owner and chef is always there with a warm welcome and cooks everything fresh to order. We love the fillet steaks and last night’s were just perfect, not an ounce of fat in them and cooked medium rare just as we asked. The mixed mezze mini salad starters are really tasty too, including minty tabbouleh, fish and beetroot salads, all home made and served with baked bread. It is a family run business and so if you can book ahead that’s great to help them prepare service but they always welcome walk ins too.

We sat down in the corner of the pub with our drinks planning on getting food and probably staying there for a while. The table was not reserved in any way, we were sat there for over 30 minutes having a nice quiet drink until the rudest, scruffiest man with long greasy hair and moustache came over and told us to 'get up, I need the table'. Didn't even bother to explain why, or even apologise then just stood there saying 'get up'. I genuinely didn't even realise he worked there.. I thought he was some random man asking us to get up. The pub was full with no other tables available. We were clearly an easy target being one of the youngest (29 and 31). The pub was full of over 50s. Not our fault you couldn't organise enough chairs and tables for a larger group. Clearly an error on your behalf. Safe to say we will never step foot in this place again.

After leaving it for far too long we returned to our favourite restaurant in the UK last week. I've written before how good it is and I'm about to do so again. Living in Birmingham we have a choice of Michelin starred restaurants on our doorstep, now sadly one one less with the closure of Purnell's, but it's a scenic round trip to a Cheltenham restaurant that tops them all. Obviously the level of cooking at these places is top notch but the overall experience of LCS is what sets it apart. There is no tasting menu but set lunch and dinner menus (two or three course) - which offer incredible value - as well as an extensive a la carte menu. The wine list is extremely well put together and has a pricing range which suits all pockets, unlike some of its contemporaries! Some reviewers bemoan the lack of music; others compare it to a library or church but not in a good way. We find it has a calm and pleasant ambience. The tables are well spaced and people are chatting and laughing quite freely - possibly helped by mobile phone use not being allowed in the dining area. We had the set lunch menu which allowed us to taste gurnard for the first time as well as an exquisitely cooked beef and ox-tongue dish which melted in the mouth. The cheese board is - as it always has been - a masterpiece, arriving in a wicker basket full of cheese for you to choose at the table; or let chef David select for you allowing for personal preferences to be included. The coffee and petits fours are a sublime way to finish your meal. The latter are particularly fine, varied and plentiful. I haven't mentioned the nibbles, amuse bouche or the breads including a signature brioche with bacon but they, and the excellent front of house service provided by Helen and her team, all combine to consistently deliver a superb dining experience. Parking is available at a nearby car park, currently £2.30 for three hours - a time span which is perfect for a leisurely lunch - only a short walk away. We won't leave it so long for our next visit!
