Absolutely amazing cafe serve up some banging sandwiches and coffee for the price of a meal deal highly reccomend if you in the area. In not only a cafe its got a bloody garden center attached i would give an extra 5 stars if i could

First rate cafe, with very reasonable prices for excellent food. The service was very friendly and entertaining and all in all the experience was very, very good. I would certainly recommend the Askham Grange Garden Centre, cafe and coffee bar to anyone and everyone. It’s definitely worth a drive out to give it a try.

Visited the cafe today with my Mum. Friendly obliging staff, who spared the time to chat, and went the extra mile. Delicious clotted cream scones with tea. We will be back for lunch sometimes. Thankyou for making it such a lovely experience. X

A friend told me about this little café and garden centre so I visited it on Sunday with an elderly friend. There was a good choice on the menu and the prices were very reasonable. We had delicious mushroom soup and then bought some chocolate cake and a huge cheese scone to take away ... both were very tasty. The place was clean & tidy and the staff were welcoming. We will certainly go again. Afterwards we looked at the garden centre and, inevitably, came away with several plants. It was a lovely surprise to find such a pleasant place so close to home. I can't wait to sample more of their menu on our next visit.

Visited today with a friend for the first time and was delighted with tasty sandwiches, cake and very pleasant staff A most comfortable cafe and outside area and the choice of plants at very reasonable prices was amazing Will most definitely be returning

Absolutely fantastic place with great initiative and purpose, amazing customer service, lovely food, decent prices and massive selection of plants!

We discovered this amazing coffee shop last year and it's become one of our favourite places to call for breakfast or lunch. The food is beautiful from lovely sandwiches filled to bursting and served with a fresh side salad to the home made cakes which I believe are made by the ladies themselves. The garden centre is so well stocked and in summer the ladies sell the veg that's grown there,although you have to be qick to get it as it's so popular. The staff are amazing, so polite and helpful and always have a chopped up sausage ready for any one who brings their dog with them. What a wonderful place for the residents of HMP to get back some of their confidence and learn new skills or polish up old skills before release. The prison staff who are responsible for this should be very proud of the amazing work that's going on.

Had lunch with granddaughters in tow (4&6) and staff could not have been more accommodating or attentive in providing child friendly meals. I had a Brie & bacon toasted sandwich which was to die for, full of Brie and well cooked quality bacon. Daughter had a baked potato which was a good size, topped with a generous portion of cheese and accompanied by a tasty salad. Husband enjoyed a bacon and egg sandwich on fresh white bloomer bread, claiming one of the best he’s had! Staff incredibly friendly and obliging with the standard of food exceptional. Its also so reasonably priced what more could you ask for. Excellent experience.

We had a lovely visit and bought quite a few items. Well tended plants and not expensive. Check opening times as I found it was closing at 3pm the day I visited.

Excellent, great value, lunch. Sandwich (well filled & decent side salad), drink & cake (home made, decent sized serving) all for £6.00! Good service. Not very big, just 16 seats indoors but more outside, in decent weather.

This was our 3rd visit for lunch and yet again it was as good if not better than before. The freshly made sandwiches and salad the yummy cake choices and a good pot of tea with extra hot water. The ladies are so professional and really aim to please. Thank you all very much and we’ll see you soon. X

This has become one of my favourite coffee stops when cycling around the York area. The food is always fresh and tasty, the service quick and efficient, and the outdoor seating area next to the nursery, always very pleasant. Today’s offering of Parkin and Fat Rascals to celebrate Yorkshire Day were delicious. Please can these be added to the usual menu? Please support this wonderful venture.

Esta fue mi segunda visita a esta maravillosa cafetería y centro de jardinería. Como la hora de la calle 1, nuestra comida fue increíble y muy buena. Mi esposo no vino esta vez, así que le llevé un pedazo de pastel de café a casa, no pude encontrar cualquier cosa para sentirnos negativos, los compramos en el centro de jardinería y compramos. Esta es ciertamente una joya escondida y la estaremos haciendo en nuestras fechas de almuerzo semanales

Llamado para un centro de jardín alrededor de mirada. Es cierto que llegamos un poco tarde para las plantas de cama, pero compramos un par de cosas en la tienda. El café estaba lleno, pero fue un día encantador, así que nos sentamos afuera. El personal es muy amigable y útil. Nuestro almuerzo fue muy agradable y por el precio fue de gran valor. Los sarnies eran realmente sustanciales y las ollas de las chaquetas eran geniales con mucho relleno. Sin duda volveremos.

Visitamos esta cafetería y centro de jardinería por primera vez hoy. Teníamos un delicioso almuerzo recién preparado. Una selección de sándwich, bebida y un pastel para 6 tiene una buena relación calidad-precio y está bien presentada, aunque el asistente se las arregla con una sola mano. Había algunas plantas de ganga y accesorios a la venta. Vale la pena una visita para probar los pasteles solo. Haremos que esta sea una de nuestras paradas regulares antes de entrar en el bonito pueblo con un estanque de patos y todo.

Called in for late morning snack during a bicycle ride. Good food and prices. All on ground floor for easy access. Staff are very friendly and helpful, I'll be back soon!

On the plus side - Very pleasant staff, good food, large portions. Very clean.On the minus side - No jacket potatoes by 12.30 lunchtime, very slow service, dogs allowed inside.

Service with a smile on a busy day at this hidden gem of a coffee/tea shop. A variety of customers of all ages enjoying lunch and/or light refreshments.... just perfect!

Visited on a cold winter day. A very warm cosy coffee shop. Can recommend the baked potatoes with a good salad. Will be back in Spring/Summer for plants.

Perfect cafe stop for our cycling group. 22 hungry cyclists rolled up at the Grange Coffee Shop on a dull, cold and overcast Saturday morning. The cafe was quiet so we quickly got served by the brilliant staff. Great quality food and barista quality coffee was served with a smile. The cafe was exceptionally clean, warm and comfortable. Great value for money, friendly efficient staff, bike racks outside, we need to try and keep this little gem a secret!

A new cafe for our cycling group. It was clean, with good facilities. The coffee and cake was excellent, and good value.

I attended the Grange Coffee Shop for lunch last Thursday. The coffee shop is excellent, with freshly prepared food served at the table in a very professional manor by the Ladies.

The place is a little gem. Good food, nice location and friendly staff. The portions a more than generous and for a hungry cyclist, that helps.

Only a couple of miles off the A64 , we googled a place to eat as we were on our way to Whitby , & the Grange came up. Only a small cafe but very clean , different meal deals on offer. We were the only ones in so service was excellent. We chose ciabattas as £5.25 which were served with a decent side salad & crisps. We couldn’t find a car park so parked on the road. Didn’t get to look round the shop or garden centre so can’t comment on those aspects

Visited the premises for the first time today. The choice of refreshments excellent, served by very attentive staff. The gift shop well worth a visit, great choice, will be calling again.

Called for coffee. We were made most welcome and nothing was too much trouble.The scones were delicious. A special offer was cake and coffee at a very reasonable price. It was spotlessly clean including the toilets. We certainly shall return. Garden ornaments, preserves and chutneys were on sale.

Visited here with family. Nice range of sandwiches, paninis, jacket potatoes, cakes, and lots more. The cakes are home made and look wonderful and taste great, but are a meal in themselves, the slices are enormous. Good tea and coffee too, and friendly staff.

We recently had a fantastic lunch at The Grange. The staff were friendly and welcoming, accommodating our baby by moving tables to fit the highchair at the table. We had some delicious jacket potatoes which were very reasonably priced. I would recommend this cafe and we will definitely be visiting again.

I’ve been many times for plants which are always great, but this was a first at the coffee shop. Absolutely loved the tea and cake (coffee and walnut) and great value. Friendly helpful staff in both garden centre and coffee shop. Will definitely be recommending to friends and family.

The staff are lovely. Took advantage of the sunshine to sit in the courtyard and soak up some rays over lunch. Excellent value. See you again soon!

We searched for a coffee/breakfast stop on the way to Whitby, as we dislike service stations.

Just finished an enormous feta, walnut and bacon salad. Or rather, had to leave some of it, it was so generous. I love this little gem of a snackery, the staff are welcoming and the food freshly prepared. There's always a chance to buy some tasty pickles and jams.

Popped in with my son on a bike ride had a great cappuccino and slice of cake good value and very clean and tidy inside. Will visit again 👍

Called here for a quick lunch and both chose a bacon panini. The bread was toasted to give a crisp finish and the plentiful bacon was lovely. Each panini came with a mountain of mixed leaves salad to give quite a plateful. Staff were cheery and helpful. The decor is modern chic and the toilets were very clean and fresh. Well worth a trip into the countryside.

Called in whilst out walking, the staff are very friendly, it is excellent value and can highly recommend the huge scones-delicious! Our cocker spaniel was also spoilt with a sausage which she loved. Will definitely return soon!

I have visited the Grange several times and have always found the staff welcoming, the coffee nice and the cake delicious! Excellent value with a coffee and slice of cake for £3.20. Be warned though, the slices are huge!

My friend and I tried this coffee shop for the first time today. The food was good, with very reasonable prices, the staff were very friendly and the place was spotlessly clean. We shall recommend and will be back.

Hidden in the garden centre at the end of the village this small clean pleasant cafe offers great home cooking and coffees. The staff are always friendly and welcoming. Try it yourselves. But do not drive past without popping in.

I have visited this cafe a number of times both with my wife and with a group of friends while out cycling. Food is v good, staff are friendly and it must be one of the cleanest cafes I have visited.

Askham Richard has a duck pond, pub and houses around, climbing roses and church tucked away beside the old Victorian Grange. Beyond there is the garden centre (plants and home made produce) and now a new little wooden purpose-built coffee house. It is warm, wonderfully clean and tidy with plenty of seats inside and a couple of tables outside but no view. The service is friendly and efficient, the menu as you might expect, making use of the ubiquitous Italian coffee machine and offering wonderful cakes, scones and for those hungrier baked potatoes, pannonia, sandwiches and breakfast combinations. Portions are generous; fillings are of the cheese, egg, tuna style. So simple, straightforward and keeping it manageable. It really is worth a visit (and more than once if you are local) and if on a journey past try here rather than any of the bland places on the A64.

Visited last week for lunch. Delicious toasties, good value and very friendly staff. Shame it's not open a little later at the weekends.
