David H, as the owner suggests, has never been barred out, my lunch in here was my first visit in 15 years, it was poor, please accept that, and don’t post rubbish that is not true about people. I see all bad reviews are people you have barred out, how strange !!!

Myself and my "unsavoury" friends are pensioners. It was over 2 years since he barred us out for complaining of the smoke coming from the fire and him putting the lights out while we were eating. Personally I couldn't care less. But not a nice couple. All I'm saying is check reviews anyone says something negative and it's always that person at fault. I don't wish to EVER go in their pub so being barred makes me laugh. Good luck to them.

My friend and I went for Sunday lunch today I had beef and pork that was lovely and you helped yourself to the vegetables. The price £5.50 and £3.00 for dessert great value. Don't expect the Ritz but food lovely I will certainly be back.

If you are putting bands on and trying to bring people in then you must advertise so people know there is such a good band on, we couldn't believe only about 20 people in watching such a brilliant band and the lager was awful and not the best service, wont be rushing back.

Was told this was good, but below average food here, bland veg and tough meat, but not surprising when you see the chef in the reduced aisle in Asda.

I visit The Grand regularly. The drinks are cheaper than most of the town's pubs and clubs. Food is available every evening with a carvery on a Sunday for £5. Bingo and a quiz midweek and live rock bands on a Saturday night with free entry

Grand it is not. Hotel no. Food was beautiful but 3 chefs later no idea, 3 chefs in 12 month says not good to me. Restaurant staff lovely couldn't do enough for you at that time. As for the public house part. Not very inviting. Hosts not very friendly not a place to relax and enjoy being there. Will never go back. Decor needs some personality just like the hosts.

This pub has undergone a massive refurbishment and there is a designated bar to the left as you enter with the large room on the right a dedicated dining room. Didn't realise they'd started serving food until a friend suggested dining there. The choice on offer was good and a carvery is a new addition to their offer at £5, the food is really good value and plentiful, if opting for the carvery, the meat is dished up & you serve yourself with all of the vegetables from the trays under the hot plate, the food was nice but it was only luke warm, when I have a Sunday type lunch, I prefer it to be piping hot, maybe it was the timing of our arrival being close to the end of service. Liked the fact that there were mushy peas, they were lovely as was the choppy mint sauce. They also do take away which some of the locals appeared to be making the most of & ideal if you can't be bothered to cook. I will try it again but may go earlier in the evening as this may make a difference.

This pub is ok when they actually have food on they advertise a carvery till 8 we turned up at 5.30 it was our 35 wedding anniversary and we wanted to go out for a special dinner we were going to have all three courses and a few drinks only to be told they didn’t have any carvery left really bad management to run out of food two and a half hours before closing we ended off coming home and our special meal was beans on toast it’s a ok pub for a quick meal but don’t go there for any special occasion they will just let you down

Ordered BBQ chicken loaded fries and was served frozen chips not fries with frozen strips of chicken covered with cheese and a squirt of BBQ sauce. Husband had pie of the day, said the pie was nice but the gravy was lumpy and too thick won’t be going back there again

Visited first time after lock down (I believe it’s opened under new management) on a Saturday afternoon. Booked a table for food and glad we did as it was very busy. The service was slow but this was mentioned on our arrival as they were under staffed and didn’t predict how busy it would be. However, the atmosphere was fab (lively, sport on the TV and a range of music was been played) and at the time we hardly noticed the wait between drinks and food! We ordered three different meals (Yorkshire Pudding, Cheeseburger and chicken and cheese baguette) portions were huge (for £6.95 each) and delicious. Lager and cider were reasonably prices too. Hopefully the place gets a well needed refurb under new management as it is the only negative - but I appreciate the pub has just recently reopened and Rome wasn’t built in a day! We’ll definitely be back.
