There's nothing wrong with the place, I just don't like Greene King's beer.

We stopped here because it was closed to the main road, to break a journey with our young son because it had a Wacky Warehouse. Well, it was the smallest Wacky Warehouse play area we'd ever seen, but it amused him for a while, the coffee was fine and the staff friendly. Didn't eat here because the pub food looked a bit pricey compared to our local, and there were no deals available.

Walked in on Mother's Day and they had got a table for 4 for us. we just had to clear it 60 minutes later, excellant service, great food too!

Only had cake but it was delicious and moist. Dog friendly.

Wouldn’t recommend, was a very negative experience from the get go. The manager in the red top serving us needs to learn how to smile. The quality of the food was very poor, ordered a roast and it’s like the chef just slapped it on the plate without a care in the world. When expressing how poor it was we decided to order alternative well that was even more of a shame. The restaurant floor was covered in food, the staff service was atrocious. In all due respect it was mother’s day so we understand they must off been extremely busy but that’s down to the management to keep their team engaged. Will not be returning & will not be recommending.

Service extremely slow, had to chase our drinks. Food was adequate.

Nice pub, good staff, and food was well presented. The down side though was that the menu was a little disappointing. No sandwiches/ paninis at the weekends. No jacket potatoes ever. And very limited choice for vegetarians/vegans.

Popped in for bite to eat late afternoon. Friendly and welcoming staff. Especially Katie ,who recommended the BBQ Jack Burger,it was one delicious! One of the best burgers I've had in a while . My husband had a mini Grill ,great value for money at £8.99. All in all ,great food and great customer service . We will definitely be back

Having used the Goose numerous times with no problems. This time my wife had the vegetable pie. When it came she couldn't cut through the crust, neither could I. They swapped it, but that was not much better. In the end they didn't charge us for it. Will try another visit to see if things have improved.

Food was very good. However, service was atrocious. We won't come again due children running around and screaming. That WAS bad!

Went as a extended family of 13 (adults and children) for the festive menu, from the moment I booked the customer service was fantastic, Katie who I dealt with on several occasions relating to menu changes/allergy requirements was super helpful, friendly and nothing was to much trouble. All the staff were friendly, service was fab and the foods was amazing. Everyone in the group were impressed we have even inquired about booking for Xmas day next year.. Myself and immediate family are there for Xmas day this year and can't wait. The pub itself was festive and lovely.

Driving back from Nottingham took a wrong turn! decided to stay and have some food. It was great really enjoyed the food, service was good and a nice atmosphere. will return

Would've been better if they fix the kitchen doors as having been seated near them they constantly banged very loudly when staff are in and out. Haven't they heard if soft closures?

Our server was lovely, but no one came over to make sure the meals where ok or if we needed any more drinks. We was seat near the bar and staff where all talking about guests who had complained that day or week, also about there body ligaments that they have wrong with them I.e a young boy on about his wort and skin hanging off, also calling in sick as he "can't be asked". young girl about her mole under her arm and how she shaved it and it bleeding. This isn't something any customer wants to hear while eating. The food was OK not the best I've had was no gammon available so had extra sausage that was hard to eat as its was burnt on one side. There didn't seem to be much of an atmosphere as some staff didnt look like they wanted to be there unfortunately. I owned a cafe and I'd never have my staff all standing around talking like that when customers can over hear. It makes it seem like they don't want you to bother them for anything. We said good bye to the staff on the way out and out of 6 people standing there only 1 said goodbye and she was the lovely young girl who served us as she walked down the stairs with her hands full. I'm not asking for the red carpet but a simple good bye won't hurt. Maybe all staff need alittle more training in customer service unfortunately.

We came here because my daughter loves the kids pasta 🥰, she looks forward to her weekly pasta and she visits with her dad but unfortunately he let her down again. She was so upset we decided to come and have pasta anyway… I didn’t know what to eat and she chose the quinoa salad for me but it was gritty and tasted of sand. The staff also added on another tables drinks order and a meal item which I spotted before paying, luckily. Anyway, I’d recommend the kids meals, I’m told their kids ice cream is awesome too. Stay away from the adult food and check your bill before paying.

Booked for party at 1pm pre booked food. Food started to arrive at 3.15 most of it cold broccoli and carrots well undercooked (not even el-dente ) roast potatoes nothing roasted about them made numerous complaints.did get a discount but it just wasn’t up to your normal standard very disappointing

Kids area needs the heating on guys. And the chef needs to learn how to toast the bread not burn them.Laura was reeally good and friendly

Lunch's portion is sufficiently large. Dessert + Coffee combo is available. We were quickly seated. Free parking.

Nice pub. Few of the menu items we wanted weren't available but the food we had was good and our waitress Indiana was very helpful and friendly. Would go back if in the area.👍🏼

Food was not brilliant on rhis visit. Only one server never came to check if our meals were OK. I had fish n chips, and the fish was more beige than white. My brother enjoyed his pudding, though very expensive for appletize drink £3.30

Awful service...waited 35 minutes for the food.... ordered a pudding and confirming the price was £3.50 with the waitress. Went to pay and was charged the full amount and was told we had not ordered from the right venue...I said we were not told to!...was told by the lady by the lady behind the bar that they had a new starter so she will have a word... no offer of a customer service gesture given that they had got it wrong and even explainingi that had we known we wld not have ordered!... food portions are smaller... will NOT be going back. Didn't bother staying for food 40 minute wait despite it not being busy. You can't use the softplay unless you book one of a few very small tables in the room. Really not family friendly like the website suggests. Football was very loud in bar area which is right next to the open plan main restaurant.

Visited with my colleague for some lunch on our way to Newark, lovely lunch menu - fab team and great service hop to pop by again

Came for family meal, staff were great kim and ciara looked after us and were so helpful! Food was delicious . Looking forward to our next visit

Friendly staff and good atmosphere

Not a bad place for a quick snack, guy with blue hair, (sorry didn't get his name), who served us, was very helpful.

The staff was very friendly, we just pop in on the way home and got seated straight away good was good

The service was marvellous, with a good gluten free menu too. It's always a shame when the chips aren't home made, but the steak and beer were lovely.

The food was nice if not a bit expensive, though. Most staff were friendly and accommodating, but others were not as nice but overall was nice.

Arrived at the goose today for lunch, very welcoming, seated quickly, and ordered promptly. My food arrived, opened up the tomato ketchup bottle which exploded all over my face, jeans, and cream jumper , lol. (Not the best start to my meal) Waitress was really helpful and so apologetic and helped clean up quickly even offering to wash my jumper! Meal was fantastic, cooked great and tasted lovely no complaints at all! Asked for the bill in which the waitress explained the manager had taken care of due to the mishap of the the tomato ketchup! I wasn't expecting this at all and thought this was such a lovely gesture! Accidents happen! I'm not one to ever write a review (and I'm genuinely not even though I've read that line before on numerous things) but I wanted to leave one to say that the service and food was excellent and we'll definitely return! Thanks so much, keep doing what your doing.

Never had such a bad meal as I had today. My meal was cold, even the butter on my rump steak didn't melt. When I made a polite complaint, the waitress said "oh sorry I can warm it up in the microwave". My mums Birthday meal was completely ruined by COLD food and staff that couldn't care less. What a waste of £50.

Pretty poor service, shown to a table, wasn't told the ordering procedure, sat and waited for 15 mins before going to the bar to order, again waited another 10 mins at the bar only to be told a server will come to the table!!! The 'server' had walked past the table numerous times and never made any effort to ask for a drinks or a food order! Food was ok, it was what you'd expect at these style pubs. Not the best

One arrival we were told the grill was broken but they could still accommodate for breakfast. To only find out the only things they could make were pretty much eggs and toast. Even non grill items seemed to be off the menu. No point being seated. Lady was not very accommodating.

Great friendly staff from the minute we walked in, great food cooked perfectly and looks like the pictures and just a beautiful environment to be in.

Now I have to be fair in my review of The goose as I didn’t eat here, we took the children to the play centre and had drinks. No issues with the drinks but the staff were miserable and rude to the point where I even told one of them that I think they need to look for another line of work. Upon entering there was no staff to be seen behind the bar, after waiting a few minutes a male staff member appeared I asked politely if someone could serve us drinks at the play centre counter as my children were already in there playing, I got a tut, a mumbled moan before he disappeared again for five minutes, eventually a lady came out and kindly helped us. It’s such a shame when certain staff members let the whole place down and leave customers feeling like they are a hindrance. On a plus note the coffee was nice and the kids loved the play centre.

I was there after DIY shopping trip. Use to use the Goose years ago for a car club met every month. I always found the staff great to get along with. The latest visit found it’s still like that. My pie was big and full. The pub is right next to the A52 and close to Morrison’s and we’ll used by families, you may want to book?

The food was cold ,I had the hunters chicken ,with chips and salad , had to send the hunters chicken back as it was cold ,and when it came back it wasn't much better ,will not be coming back

Good to see it trying to promote more locally sourced and further afield cask ales beyond usual Greene King range. Love the food although not had chance to indulge for a while.

Last minute change of plan bought us here. Had a decent steak here. Pleasantly surprised. And staff were very friendly.

We went with family for Sunday lunch. Unfortunately the Goose was not up to the usual standards of other Green King establishments we have been to. The beef was advertise as 'pink' but was actually RAW! I ordered the mushroom Wellington which arrived minus the vegetables! The staff are attentive and brought out the vegetables when mentioned to them but nothing can ge done with RAW meat 🤮 We ordered desserts although nice they arrived with wrong accompliments.

For a GreenKing pub the food was poor , the beef wasn't just pink it was still running around the field!

Went in for a Sunday lunch and it was not like I expected, the meat was fatty and the vegetables were under cooked and the mash tasted like smash.

Lovely dinner here tonite, staffing levels excellent, no one waited more than a few seconds before being acknowledged and served etc, makes all the difference. Not from around here, up from Essex actually, but would defo return, busy this evening but all the staff were very good

Went yesterday evening food ok, really like the icebreaker. Unfortunately my wife is disabled and the 3 disabled parking spaces had cars in them but no blue badges. When we questioned this, we were told by a member of staff they were used for staff parking. Not acceptable. Probably won't be back.

Very surprised for a chain pub. The food was superb ( I am rather fussy about) service was relatively swift. Great food for sensible prices. Well done all round team.

Travelled 26 mile to eat here for my sons birthday, pub itself seemed nice enough, but not many people inside having meals, we had a whole room area to ourselves. Ordered what my son asked for as starters I had sautéed mushrooms, they had cheesy garlic ciabatta. Was a bit miffed when the mains came out, and then the starters after the mains had been set down. I'd read reviews before coming and my hubby decided not to come as we've had bad experiences with sub standard meals at other greene King pubs. Well my mushrooms didnt look like they had seen any kind of sautée, more like they had been boiled in water, and they were only luke warm as if they had been sat around for a while. I made the mistake of ordering rump steak, my last experience at a greene King pub was that it was so gristly you couldn't even cut it with a knife. This was slightly better, managed to cut most of it, but it was so chewy I thought I was going to need dental treatment, I have a feeling all these greene king pubs must buy cheaper end meat or things are already pre cooked and just heated up. The chips were edible but looked anaemic, I had eggs with the steak which had been overcooked, and it came with the same mushrooms Id ordered for my starter but never came as one,again most of them were just barely warm I've been to plenty of vintage inn chains and perfectly cooked food and prices aren't any dearer. This food is more geared to the masses 2 for £10, definitely not the prices that are being charged My sons girlfriend said the lemon she had on her fish was frozen and struggled to squeeze it. Overall would I return, no, i'd save the money on fuel and go somewhere I know would serve a nice meal where you can clear your plate with no issues

Food was expensive but mediocre, £15.99 for dry salmon and wilted salad with brown edged lettuce that would have maybe been just acceptable at £10.99. Disinterested service and we had to find our own cutlery by stealing it from another table inside. We, sadly, would not visit again.

Menu has changed not as good had better service.

Good food. Friendly staff. Would have given 5 stars but my plate was cold. Some people may say this is trivial but to me it is important.

That would it be our 5th visit at the pub always with the dog, Today we went and the waiter at first she said with dogs it's bar or garden..as we knew it anyway, that with dogs were at the bar ,but behind the collum hiding from us maybe the manger some one Said "NO NO" to the waiter (Sowing very poor customer service and absolutely disgraceful leadership she should show her face at least explaining to us the New rule... rather than leaving a member of your staff facing your incompetence to deal with public We decided to eat outside and waiter ask us to walk outside to reach the garden. So we just left That was a very bad way to communicate to customer. We left right away and that Will be the last time we will be going even close to the pub. I m not surprised to see the pub empty if that is the level of welcoming customers.

Had a lovely meal on Friday night

I originally did a lengthy review of this place but in retrospect I felt I was unfair to the staff so I've deleted it. Suffice then to say that on my visit the food was awful and I will not be going again, ever. The pub itself considering its location near to one of the posher parts of Nottingham was tired and in need of some money spending on it, particularly the awful play area at the back. Google requires a star rating. I don't think it even deserves a one. Awful, my advice avoid it.
