Sensational food, service was amazing as well

Calamari was good. But the buffalo chicken/scampi combo was a major let down, drowned in extremely sour sauce. An assault on taste buds.

I got handed THREE prawns for £6! If they were big tiger prawns I'd understand, but they aren't. £2 each! Deeply disappointed by the usually wonderful food.

I only go to Cod Scallops for the lunch time deal when it makes cod scallops affordable. For £10 you get Fish, Chips and mushy peas with tartar sauce and a cup of tea. They have the nicest red sauce in the world - so nice I brought some to have at home ! Staff are always great and happy 🐟🍟

I had a takeaway from Cod’s Scallops yesterday evening and was very disappointed. The battered hake I ordered was drenched in grease, I’ve never had a battered fish that greasy before, which made it inedible. The curry sauce was excellent but that’s the only positive I can say about the meal. It wasn’t like this when they opened, all of the food was excellent then, but clearly standards have dropped and they require training to be consistent with food quality again.

Yet again the order was incorrect. Gravy pots missing from the bag this time. Standards have deteriorated at this store and we have had the last three orders messed up. Time to look for another chip shop.

£1.50 for an extremely small fish "cake" that's quality is on par with Lidls. Chips that although crispy, a lot are under cooked. Ask for salt and vinegar, don't get any. For premium prices you'd expect better!

Two of us had the daily menu of fish and chips, mushy peas, tartare sauce and a cup of coffee. Lovely meal, good service, until…………. We had the waitress hovering over us with the card machine, waiting for payment for the meal before we finished drinking our coffee. Talk about not feeling wanted after getting our business. The restaurant wasn’t full so their was no excuse. It’s not only the West Bridgford restaurant, I’ve had the same happen to me at the Carrington one. Will you please stop ruining our meals with this action, give us a bit of time to digest the meal. Would have given this four stars if this hadn’t happened.

Me and my eldest son enjoyed a lovely fish and chips dinner. He really liked the 'real fish fingers' from the little toddlers menu.

Had a good meal and excellent service but got a big parking fine. I had not been there before and did not see the signs. Stayed 10 minutes longer than I should have. The car park was practically empty. The restaurant could do more to advise guests in advance of the parking restrictions.

Visited for take away but it was nice to see you can sit down inside also for table service, the menu is going to be fish and chip based but there was quite a variety of other seafood and starters and puddings also, when I went it was practically empty but still took over 20 minutes to wait for two lots of fish and chips, peas and curry sauce, I had expected these items to be ready to go being a chipy, when I got the food it was tasty and hot, price for a small portion was not the same as advertised on the chalk board menu which needs amending, also find this chain always seems to have like small nub end chips, never get long chips, which are still fine but personally I don't particularly like these.

We enjoyed the meals as a first timer:) Very good quality meals, and the customer service was also excellent! Especially, a male staff with pretty glitters on cheeks assisted us well when we got confused about their order method.

Very disappointed. I don't mind sending a little extra for gastronomic excellence but the fish and chips were mediocre at best and considering the price they charge one of the cod was the size of a small fish at most other chip shops costing quarter the price! I'll be sticking with my local chip shop,in future for excellent flavour, portion size and value. The delivery was spot on though.

Delicious dinner, we had the cod and chips each and the fish was lovely and flakey, without being greasy and the batter was crisp. The chips were perfect, not too thin, not too thick, and the curry sauce was incredible. We found it hilarious that the battered black pudding was on the 'light bites' menu, but overall a great experience.

Chips stone cold. Fish batter soggy. Scallops all batter and tough and cold. Peas ok but wouldn’t order again. Very expensive for poor quality. Far better f&c shops in the area.

We were disappointed with the food. Calamari were overcooked, haddock was incredibly greasy, lots of scrappy chips and my wife's salad tasted horrid, a lemon dressing that tasted like washing up liquid. Salmon and tempura prawns we're lovely. Servers were very friendly.

Fish was very nice but the chips were awful they were tasteless,hard and obviously not fresh -curry sauce was quite strong and congealed-Definitely not worth the price and will not be going there again

Went here last weekend for take-away fish & chips after hearing great things. I wasn’t disappointed! The staff are all super-friendly staff, the restaurant section looked immaculate, and the food was stunning. I’ll definitely be back!

Took the grandchildren, who very much enjoyed the activity pack while they waited for their lunch. This was really good value and care had been takrn in how it was presented. I enjoyed the lunchtime special which I am happy to recommend.

Food is cooked to order so tastes really good . Fish is juicy and sweet . Good chips . Decent prices too. Great decor throughout , friendly staff and nice and clean throughout too. Beats George's hands down . The other Cod's Scallops diners are equally good at Long Eaton and Sherwood . I'd recommend this restaurant for a visit anyday .

As ever, another lovely meal out tonight at The Cods Scallops in West Bridgford … complimented perfectly by fabulous service from the great staff. Could only be better if they had an online loyalty scheme rather than relying on me to remember the physical stamp cards they keep giving me. I think I’ve now got 9 at home because I keep forgetting to bring them in with me 😬.

Been going to different iterations of "The Cod's Scallops" for years. Went into the West Bridgford branch today for a battered hot cross bun and it was mind bendingly tasty! The people that work there are absolutely lovely as well. Excellent.

The mushy pea fritters are lovely as is the food overall, but it's a bit pricey!

Had lunch there with my husband today for the first time. Parked right outside. Food was served nice and hot, generous portions. My husband really enjoyed the baked sea bass. The staff we were very friendly and attentive. We will definitely be returning 🙂

Spent near to £100 for 4 people and didn’t find it value for money at all. Large cod was small with greasy batter, chips were dry and very anaemic, all the extras were expensive, £1.50 for a tiny pot of tartar sauce ( paid £6 for 4 didn’t get any! ). Do not understand the hype about this place, will not be going again. Definitely will stick to my local chip shops.

Turned up at 8:50 when I know they were on the wind down but they were very friendly, great service & great chips!

Food was good as expected. Slow service, about 25 mins for a takeaway. Also steep prices at about £14 for takeaway fish and chips. Not sure if the prices are the same to eat in.

Food was absolutely delicious, I had a few of the small plates and the calamari was particularly lovely. We went for my son's birthday, the staff were super helpful with the cake, the kids pack they give is by far the best one we've ever had from a restaurant. Couldn't have asked for a better evening.

Just had the driest and most tasteless piece of fish ever. Totally overcooked and the batter was rock hard. Won’t go again!!! Not a patch on the Wolds shop

Great food and service, the lunch time deal is great value for money!

This is a very nicely positioned and decorated fish and chips takeaway/restaurant. I decided to try it after being a fan of other local fish and chips for many years, but I have to say I was not impressed by the price and contents of my 2 meals. My first issue relates to an order for a 'Chip cob' which to my surprise was a small chips and just one single piece of sliced bread, how do you make a sandwich from one slice of bread? I also ordered Scampi and Chips, this didn't come with either a slice of lemon or tartare sauce, neither was it offered as an option. Then comes the price, I paid £19 for small chips, a slice of bread and basic scampi/chips. I personally won't be returning here which is a shame.

Not sure how they can claim to be the #1 chip shop, servings are tiny, extremely overpriced and they ignore order notes like salt and vinegar and deliver it without. I would go the opposite and genuinely say this is the worst chip shop I've tried in Nottinghamshire.

Takeaway ordered on Tuesday 31st October. There was a slight issue with the order but they did everything and more to put it right. So friendly and helpful and the food was excellent too. Thank you. We'll definitely order again. 🙂

The fish and chips were hot and fresh, but to charge £3 for a tiny, and I mean tiny, bowl of mushy peas is ridiculous! We wouldn’t order the peas or curry sauce again. Service is nice enough although there is nothing more annoying some meals coming to the table, and some not, meaning that people are sat without their meals, watching their guests eat theirs - just bring it all out together? Will we return? Unsure….

The Cod's Scallops Fine Fish & Chips certainly lives up to it's name. Great haddock, chips and mushy peas washed down with a lovely strong cup of tea. Friendly professional staff and a nice chilled atmosphere. Some of the finest I have tasted. 5 star.

Visited yesterday- had the lunch special for £10 which was reasonable. Overall it does seem a bit pricey here. The fish and chips were lovely. The tartare sauce isn't to my taste as its got lemon in. The mushy peas were good. Their homemade red sauce I wasn't a fan of- too sweet. The service was 10/10. We were served by the manager Gem and she went above and beyond for us. At the till they've got some cute extra touches you can buy- including pots of sweets - Jelly eel and potted shrimp! Proper cute touch

Went today, was asked if I wanted to try ‘The Special’ It was an excellent Prawn Curry, with 5 huge prawns, and I mean huge, almost lobster sized, served in a very tasty curry sauce and small tomatoes Prawns were cooked to perfection, came away from the shell perfectly Cod’s Scallops is a gift that keeps on giving!

First and foremost I have to say the service is exceptional, Avess was the perfect host. He is both bubbly and professional at the same time and without sounding rude stands head and shoulders above his counterparts. The quality of food is very good on the whole though its slight unfortunate that the cod is frozen at see and not fresh and hand cut, still tasty though all the same. The only blemish on the frying of the cod was that it didn't get turned over during frying so one side the batter was crispy and cooked through yet the other side the batter was still raw on the inside. The milkshakes are definitely worth a try, though a little pricey they do taste amazing. Avess I'm sure we will see you again soon and thank you for the great service.

We ordered £74 worth of food prawn cocktails fish taco sausage chips , £8 for prawns we had a bout a pounds worth defo not worth the money fish taco was soggy just not very nice all round

I don’t know what’s happened to scallops had a v poor meal in long Eaton recently, this was on a par on ordering my takeout I was asked if I wanted fish & chips in same box it came separately & I had to put it in the other one, fish was passable seems to be cooked in a different oil no where near as good leaves a after taste batter is no where as good as it was, chips were taste less almost frozen like peas was ok but you don’t get many for your £1.70, won’t be rushing back there are a lot better chippys out there….

WOWSA!! First visit, literally rushed in at lunch time for a takeaway and asked if they had anything healthy...The guy that served me was amazing, so helpful and he recommended baked cod with a herb and lemon coating and Asian salad, it was absolutely delicious! I will defiantly be back and haven't stopped telling people at work about it since! Well done guys :):):)

The meal was DREADFUL. The mushy peas were tasteless the fish … expensive plaice fillet looked like they had been thrown into the box from across the room. We got two plaice fillets instead of one cod and one plaice as we ordered. Will not use your service again. This was supposed to be an anniversary treat

Picked some chips up on Friday around 4pm and the chips weren't cooked properly and had no flavour (despite getting lots of salt and vinegar). Wouldn't recommend.

My food was served quick and hot with a great selection of fish in multiple ways of cooking, with different sauces. With a choice of chips or salad, fortunately the Chips are very good and my fish just about perfectly cooked. Can get pretty pricey though.

We went today first time with my 2 kids, sister and niece. The staff was friendly, attentive and very accommodating. We were greeted by a lovely man (sorry didn’t catch his name) very friendly and accommodating was seated quickly in the booth and Our waitress lady (sorry didn’t catch her name either - we went Thursday 10th august at around 1pm) we had was lovely, so attentive and helpful. We got served quickly and food was delicious and all portion sizes are good! The atmosphere, great customer service and food we would definitely go back!

Came from Belfast n was told this is the best chippy to have a fish n chips from and it didn't disappoint it was lovely n the staff was really friendly too plus donuts from next door went down well too but fish was amazing great taste n was a great lunch thank u 😀

How very interesting to see real fish in the ice counter thats an experience alone! the food was interesting and the staff were extremely well trained pleasant and attentive. Our neighbouring table of 3 adults we also very happy and come regularly for your Fish its not easy to run a fish restaurant today but we'll done for trying and succeeding.

Staff friendly and attentive. Tables could have been cleared a bit quicker but was cleaned when we requested the Booth so no major issue. Chips were slightly overdone and not up to the usual standard of other branches. Fish was very tasty though (I had the grilled cod) and battered sausage was nice. Overall still pretty good and excellent choice of fish available

Brilliant place, absolutely lovely staff and tasty food. Had a sit down meal, and it all arrived really quickly. The sriracha, lime and coriander butter was heavenly, definitely recommend! Quality ingredients so I'd say fairly reasonably priced too.

Chips had no flavour and rock hard aswell, nowhere near cooked enough. Would not go again
