To the Management Team, Commendation for Outstanding Service and Quality. I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for the exceptional experience I had at your West Bridgford branch on Sunday evening. From start to finish, my visit was marked by outstanding service, attention to detail, and a clear commitment to maintaining high standards. The ambience of the establishment was warm and inviting, with impeccable cleanliness throughout the premises, from the floors and countertops to the kitchen area. The staff on duty, despite it being a Sunday evening—a time when many young people might prefer to be elsewhere—demonstrated professionalism, friendliness, and an impressive work ethic. The young lady who served me was cheerful, efficient, and extremely helpful, providing options and processing my order seamlessly. The food itself was excellent: fresh, well-cooked, and presented with care. The eco-friendly packaging and the availability of utensils and condiments for customer use further enhanced the experience. I would like to commend your team for the improvements made since my last visit. On that occasion, I had a positive experience overall but noted a few marginal differences that I felt could be improved upon. I shared my feedback with management, and I was pleased with how thoughtfully it was received. It is clear that your team took the comments on board, as my most recent visit exceeded all my expectations. This growth from an already good experience to an exceptional one is a testament to your commitment to continuous improvement and excellence. I would like to request that you take a moment to recognize the staff who were on duty that evening. Specifically, I urge you to send a letter of commendation to them, acknowledging their exceptional performance. Such recognition would not only motivate them to maintain these high standards but also inspire them to excel in their future endeavors. Furthermore, a written commendation could serve as a valuable asset in their professional growth. In a competitive job market, a letter of praise from a satisfied customer, endorsed by management, carries significant weight. It might one day make the difference in their career progression, opening doors to future opportunities. Previous review. Pleasant frontages with good parking at the time I went. Thoroughly clean and staff very polite and business like. However I'm not sure if my experience was an aberration but it was not very appetizing. The chips were obviously stale and over cooked and dry. I suspect they had been reheated. The fish batter was dry and probably for the same reason. I used to run a chip shop and I know that when it's quiet, (which it's was) it's difficult keeping food available for extended periods before making a decision to dispose of products that have reasonably expired. However that decision has to be taken to protect your reputation. It's more valuable than attempting to sell a below standard product. However I'm confident that this was the exception and not the rule. I usually avoid a quiet chip shop for this reason. Hence my seemingly"negative review" is intended in context. The business excelled in every other measure and we'll done for that. Hoping my next visit will see this weakness corrected. All the best. JJ. Update. Thanks for the professional response. I will certainly return. Business is a dynamic experience and the one way to deminish the possibility of a negative experience is to constantly strive to get it right every time and if something slips through the net then focus on why and cheerfully focus on it. It's a good feeling to see a customer smile when you first see them. It's a better feeling when you see them return. Again thanks and have a great day.

I wanted to give this business the opportunity to reply before posting a negative review, but if you can't be bothered to respond - then I have no other choice! Just because this chip shop is in an affluent area doesn't mean it will survive if the standard of the food is this poor. A small overcooked fish (which I had asked to be done when I entered and wasn't' what i actually received) hard chips & 3 tablespoons of peas. Poor. Disappointing & in the bin. I won't be returning. Avoid!!!

Ordered large fish and chips, mushy peas. They have a habit of not showing you what they are serving you, the set up is run by kids. Chips were mainly hard and cold scraps, peas could have been used to mend the pot holes in the parking bay outside. Fish was ok but very expensive. Many reviewers have said it’s gone down hill since the change of hands, I totally agree, there are much better/fresher offerings in the area. Guys sort yourselves out.

I used to go to Georges regular, and it used to be top quality years ago. The last 2 years it's really gone down hill. I used to go every Friday and get a different combination of things. Chips started going down hill on a regular basis and pies were hard. When I told them about the pies they said we can't do anything unless you tell us on the day, even though I used to go in every single Friday. The biggest issue with this type of quality and customer service is that Georges has plenty of competition in West Bridgford, Lady Bay and Ruddington. So they lost my regular business.

Not what it used to be. I remember George's when it first opened and loved that it stood out from the rest of the fish & chip shops by having a healthy option of grilled fish and veg/salads on the menu. I went tonight for the first time in years and was so disappointed they don't do this at all anymore, it's basically just a regular fish and chip menu now. I decided to order anyway. There was two young blonde girls working who didn't seem to have any customer service skills, and seeing as there was only 2 customers (me and another) I was surprised no one addressed me or asked what I would like for a long time, when I finally got their attention, I asked for Large Fish and chips meal, I was told it would take at least 5 mins to cook.... wait time could have been avoided if the staff had been more obliging of asking as soon as I walked in...instead of looking like they'd rather be anywhere else. Anyway I actually ended up with a small fish and chips with curry sauce, so obviously the girl wasn't even listening to me. However the fish and chips were quite nice, although a very small portion for over £8. And I was rather disappointed with the curry sauce as it was lacking flavour and seemed to be too thin and watery.

I thought it was strange that I saw a worker Chuck chips that wasn’t needed back into the fryer, a customer also came out and told me that the food I given back to them also went back in there! So I was given chips that was the left overs or sent backs! Absolutely disgusting. Biggest waste of money going WOULD NO RECOMMEND!!!!!! Shocking service & even worse food.

Appalling. Used to love George’s but tonight’s meal was shocking. The chip shop run by kids, the chips were a mix of soggy and hard, the fish tastes awful. After years of going there, I will not ever go back.

This place has gone down hill. Had small chips and runny curry sauce. You could count the amount of chips I had in the box! That’s how few chips I had! I know it’s a small portion I had but this was micro small and for nearly £2 for around 20 chips that’s expensive, especially in the current climate when food prices are so high anyway! Curry sauce was runny and watery. The bill came to £3.50 which was way overpriced for the poor standard of my meal. There’s a lot more competition nowadays with chip shops around Nottingham and this place has fallen way behind! The girl who served me tonight was completely disinterested like she didn’t want to be there and kept sipping water out of a bottle in front of me! I knew I should have gone to the other chip shop around the corner , next to Musters tennis centre. Overall experience was very poor and I can see why it was empty! This chippy used to be the goto place for fish & chips and they used to be queuing out the door but sadly not anymore!

Getting sick and tired of being ripped off by Georges. Victims of their own success they no longer care (if they ever did) about customers, only profits. - Each time i go in and order fish and chips i always ask the young person behind the counter to make sure i get proper chips and not the leftover hard bits, but i'm ignored. I AM PAYING FOR CHIPS NOT THE RUBBISH YOU HAVE LEFT OVER - I'M GOING PUT THIS OUT NATIONWIDE SO EVERYONE IS AWARE OF THE WAY GEORGES OPERATES, A BUSINESS THAT CHARGES OVER THE TOP PRICES FOR LOWER QUALITY FOOD WITH A CUSTOMER POORER SERVICE! Considering what they charge and the quality of their food, i would rate them a 5/10 - I now go elsewhere where the food is better and cheaper!!

This USED TO BE the place for perfect fish & chips, with freshly cooked, fresh fish (no odour) & friendly front-of-house staff...HOWEVER, in the last 12mths, there has been a horrible aftertaste of the cooking oil and both the chips and cod have been greasy. The final straw was my son breaking an adult tooth biting onto a stone in his mushy peas! Surprisingly, the management were not understanding and head office are assumingly unaware of the poor quality control. We won't be eating from George's again until their passion for perfect food returns. Thankfully we still eat from another outlet "voted best fish & chips in the UK" for the last few years running...

We’ve been going to George’s for years and normally lovely but tonight was really disappointing. Price hike (understandable in the current climate) but the fish fillets had been halved in thickness so we just had batter with no fish or the tiniest strip of fish (no more than 0.5 cm thick). Really odd and of course not in keeping with the price. This was in two meals so not just a random one. Fingers crossed it was just a one off.. we’ll give you another go George’s but think we may need to find an alternative if it continues 😢

Awful chip shop. Have been a few times to see if it improves and tonight it was terrible. Chips all stuck together in a block, all stuck to the paper and the fish was cold, soggy and tasteless. Go elsewhere.

Our first time at Radcliffe Golf Club - and hopefully it won’t be our last. We attended this evening (as non-members) and had a really great evening. Delicious food, fantastic cabaret and a friendly atmosphere. The staff were attentive and very helpful. All in all, a great way to spend a Saturday evening. Thank you … and more please!
