Can’t understand the review about having to wait a wee while, this is a corner shop in a small village, the owner is very friendly and it’s nice to while away some time sampling the many different cheeses whilst discussing current events. If you’re in that much of a hurry go to a faceless supermarket and buy pre packed cheese and meats. We travel 10 miles quite often to buy our cheese hear because you know you’re going to get personal service and local produce.

On holiday here so thought I would try this local deli. Lengthy wait while the owner stood and expounded his personal political views to another elderly person. I waited for some time as the other customer continued to improvise their shopping list. Meanwhile the conversation over the counter turned to the winter fuel allowance and how that might be linked to riots over the weekend... I only came in for some cold meat, not a subscription to the Daily Telegraph. Walked out without buying anything in the end.

Absolutely delightful little shop. The owner was most accommodating and fulfilled all our supper needs with bread, cheeses, meats, olives, baklava. Listened to what we wanted taste wise and recommended the perfect cheeses. Even suggested a place to visit on our return home (Beamish living history museum) which we did and can vouch for that as a great place to visit to.

This shop is just what you would like to expect from the moment you walk in - the aromas, the warm and friendly welcome just inviting you to stay, browse and perhaps buy! Really helpful service..... sampling cheeses, suggesting accompaniments or an invitation to just browse. The selection of local cheeses is really good - try the blue goats cheese! Then come the accessories starting with the quince jelly and a great range of cheese biscuits and nibbles. So good to see this shop has survived the last 18 months (so many haven't) and it is definitely worth supporting for what it is, not out of pity. We shall be back!!

i love cheese ------ The cheese-mites asked how the cheese got there, And warmly debated the matter; The Orthodox said that it came from the air, And the Heretics said from the platter. They argued it long and they argued it strong, And I hear they are arguing now; But of all the choice spirits who lived in the cheese, Not one of them thought of a cow.

We thought this shop had gone, with the pandemic, but it's opened up again. It's one of our favourite destinations when in the area. The Northumberland Nettle Cheese is particularly good.

We came across this wonderful shop whilst on holiday, staying nearby in Lowick. The shop stocks a great selection of local produce (especilly cheeses) and we managed to find a couple of great gifts there as well. The gentleman serving (the owner I think) was a great font of local knowledge and made the visit even more enjoyable. Well worth a visit, especially if you are self catering in the area.

While browsing round the shops in Wooler came across this delicatessen called the good life. The owner is very friendly and chatty. I found the array of local produce went excellent with his stock of exotic and unique deli items. I live in a city and would love a shop like this, but sometimes it's always small places like Wooler that unique shops set up in. The local doddington cheeses and his sourdough loafs are excellent!

Only had a short time in Wooler today as I had to get the next bus back but I will be back to this terrific shop. Beautifully set out with everything labelled and it all looked fine. For a rural village shop it had an amazing array of vegan and vegetarian items which was great for me. It also had masses of local produce and a huge array of cheeses etc. I was served by the owner who clearly loves the job and people. A wonderful asset to this lovely village.

I came across this shop by accident and was so impressed that I made a special journey to go back there. Not only is the selection of products available really excellent but the shop itself is a visual delight. Beautifully arranged and displayed and the owner a charming young lady, who clearly loves what she does. If you want to visit a truly special shop, make a visit.

As I live in Wooler, I visit the Good Life Shop weekly. Both the staff and the layout of the shop are smart and welcoming, and have a good “Olden Days” feel about them. The shop is filled with foods that are health oriented, gluten-free, local delicacies, and high-end products that you can’t get in supermarkets. One of the most inviting aspects of the shop is its deli counter, which is filled with products from local farms and businesses. The staff are equally as welcoming to tourists as they are to locals, and their products make superb gifts to take home from your travels.

Staff are always pleasant and helpful. Lots of local produce. Like all Deli's the prices can be a little higher than convenience stores but the quality and service reflect this.

Fantastic choice of local and non local cheese. Has a traditional feel about it, welcoming wth top customer service. Family run. Outside street parking make this an ideal 'pop-in' shop. You'll find almost anything you need for your store cupboard and if it's not available then they will do their best to order it for you. Gluten free products, fresh coffee and locally baked bread.

This must be Wooler's best kept secret! What a find. Apart from the grocery stocks of GF foods, condiments, preserves and other deli items, the cheese is the star - as was the person serving us. She patiently explained each of the local (Doddington) cheeses as she offered us tastings - needless to say we walked out with a basketful of goodies! Congratulations to David Girdwood - more please!

I need to correct the impression that this is a restaurant. I have been shopping here for many years and it is a really good, family run delicatessen and food store that sells a wide range of locally produced goods as well as other things from further afield. The range of cheeses is superb and you can find all manner of 'health foods' and ingredients here including a great range of spices and herbs. The shop has a much to be welcomed 'old fashioned' feel about it. It is an excellent local shop, run with care and enthusiasm.

Whilst up in Northumberland on work, I was searching out places that sold Doddingtons ice cream, I had a parcel to post too, and the nearest place was Wooler. Posted my parcel and then wandered along the high street to The Good Life Shop. What a delight, a lovely place, a freindly shop with good old fashioned values, I suppose you would say it's a delicatessen, I only went in for Doddingtons Ice cream, but nearly forgot to buy that and came out with local cheese, freshly ground coffee and loose weight herbs and spices...so rare to find nowadays. An absolute delight of a place, will definitely visit again.

Me and the wife visited here for a full English breakfast , and I must say it’s one of the best I’ve had , food very fresh and hot , caramel latte best ever, and the staff very friendly . Highly recommend, free car park at the rear.

You have to try afternoon tea here! Likely need to book in advance, we were given a great choice of sandwiches when we booked. On the day, we were seated upstairs right by the window looking over the sea, a fabulous view even on a grey winter afternoon. The food was delicious, more than we could eat though we gave it a good go. Good mix of savoury and sweet, some other afternoon teas elsewhere have too much sweet stuff. Suzanne, the owner, and the staff are so welcoming and helpful, and the cost was so reasonable. I highly recommend this place.

What a wonderful place to have a cup of tea! We were visiting the Heritage Centre next door and were taken in by the quirkiness of the idea and decided to have lunch in the carriage. We were greeted by a very friendly and welcoming young man who gave us a few minutes to make our lunch choice. The tea was served in a traditional tea pot in “proper” china tea cups which was just perfect. Our food choices were soup and a cheese scone, ham and cheese sandwich and a sausage and bacon bun, all presented lovely and totally delicious. We were on holiday in the area and wish we live closer as I’d visit all the time. The prices were very reasonable and the service from the staff faultless.

I was recommended the Bari Tea Brewery by a friend and was not disappointed. The range of teas on offer was vast with many interesting flavours! I had the green ginger tea with a scone which was freshly baked and was very tasty! Service was very good and all the staff very friendly.
