Beautiful, flavoursome, wholesome cooking. A great atmosphere, it felt very Londonity , quite arty and earthy. The service was brilliant too, with the waiter making recommendations for both the wine and food, which we loved. We mixed the 2025 menu with their regular menu: delicious baked leeks, scrumptious crispy chicken thighs, falafels with pickled slaw, and succulent lamb with hummus and fluffy pitta bread all washed down with a tasty Italian white wine. The dessert was equally delicious- very unique- can’t remember its name! I do love it when your dining out is a unique and novel experience! Loved it. We’ll be back, thank you. 🙏

We were so disappointed with The Good Egg. We were met with very cold acknowledgement, made to wait a long time to be seated in a relatively empty restaurant and then treated like we were an inconvenience. The food was reasonable but the service was appalling. Fake smiles, unfriendly, drinks dropped on to the table with no care or kindness and then service added to the bill with no choice. We’re always happy to tip when the service is good but it seems so unfair to have to pay for terrible service on top of an at best mediocre experience. Don’t run a food establishment if you don’t like people. Definitely won’t be going back.

Food was okay, service was disappointing and there was one particularly miserable waitress. We were made to feel like we were inconveniencing them, the staff were making nasty comments about other customers and overall felt like they didn’t want to be there. Didn’t live up to expectation, not a good vibe.

Had an excellent brunch here with a group of friends and our baby. The menu was interesting and the food delicious. Great vegetarian options. The service was friendly and attentive, even on a very busy New Year’s Day. A particular shout out to Dan P - such lovely service that I had to ask for his name. He was also very on it with allergies, which is reassuring. My experience with this has been very varied in other places.

Lovely to have some food with a different flavour palate than all the usual restaurants! Salt beef pitta with egg is fantastic, as is the falafel pitta. Second visit I had the fish hash- v tasty, but very little fish. Shakshuka had a LOT of sauce- needed to order some pitta to mop it up as it wasnt included. The dips are great but very rich and quite large- they should also come with bread rather than have to order it separately. Service is ok-but none of the waiting staff look like they are particularly happy to be there.

Ok, not great. Menu didn’t state if food was spicy, then was spicy so not great. Fish hash shouldn’t be called “fish”as its 5% fish 95% egg and potatoes. £5 for a 200ml (if so) soda??? And finally the waiter barely spoke to us so we had to ask for everything ourselves. And took cutlery out of his pockets.

The Good Egg was recommended to me, and it didn’t disappoint. My wife and I had brunch, and I ordered the Salt Beef pita which was really very good. Strong flavour out the salt beef, with mustard and a pickled cabbage that cut through the richness of the beef and (added) egg. I had a long black coffee that was good quality. My wife had the bacon and Date pita, which she enjoyed but thought the date jam made it a little too sweet. Service was good if a little slow (it wasn’t very busy). I will definitely be back!

Cornbread, zhoug + honey butter, interesting! Tasted like cake! Whipped feta, spiced stone fruit jam, almond. It was delicious! Salt Beef Pita, 10/10!! The best thing we’ve ordered today. This is a restaurant who seriously cares about the food they serve. We visited before a concert, having seen a recommendation online. The restaurant is further out of town but it’s a lovely walk from the station. It’s very clean. We may have over ordered but we pretty much sampled the entirety of the menu, and my word everything was incredible. The falafel, the cauliflower, the hummus, the whipped feta, the potatoes - all incredible. But the absolute star of the show has to be the fried chicken. Crunchy, delicious batter, but juicy chicken inside. Absolutely incredible. The bill was so reasonable for the amount of food we had. All members of staff were so friendly. Service was quick, but we never felt rushed. In fact, we felt we could’ve stayed for hours! We would definitely return and 100% recommend.

Really tasty food but the service was abysmal. We went at standard brunch time (midday-ish) on a Saturday morning, and got a table for 4 even though it was fairly busy. The staff then struggled to serve us in a timely or interested manner, needing significant prompting to bring out first coffees and then tap water that had been ordered together. The team made us feel like our presence was putting them out and they wished we had not ordered anything more complex than a slice of the (very tasty) babka. I say this because a slice of babka and a single coffee did arrive fairly quickly, at least compared to everything else. I understand that Saturday service must feel very hectic, but service with an eye roll and the edge of a sneer isn't fun for anyone. Food very yummy though, and a satisfying amount on your plate.

I had the aubergine pitta with jammy eggs and the potatoes with amba mayonnaise. The flavours of the pitta were an explosion in my mouth. Loved the dill cucumbers, candied tomatoes and the pickled cabbage. The potatoes were the best I've had this year. The cherry soda was not bad but wished I had ordered a coffee instead as it looked so good. It would have got a 5* review had the eggs actually been 'jammy'. Unfortunately they were hard boiled. But still incredible tasting.

The Good Egg lived up to their reputation. My friends and I were all impressed by the flavours and the quality. The menu had a good range of all things. All food came in great portion. I had green shakshuka (green lentils) which served with pitta bread. It was one of the best shakshukas I've had. I expected it to be smaller based on what I used to have elsewhere so it was really great value. It was super filling. My only comment is the eggs were pretty much cooked through but the flavours were spotted on. My friends had a fish dish (I forgot the name!) which was like a twist on fish and chips as it was with roasted potatoes. Another friend had aubergine pitta - it was fully loaded with aubergines, pickles and even a jammy egg. She struggled to eat but it looked so good. Hummus and pitta to share - hummus was creamy. I highly recommend. Originally, we wanted to have labneh but it was finished so if I have a chance next time I'd try labneh. Overall price wasn't the cheapest but coming from London, I think it is fair for what we got (portion, flavours, creativity, and quality). Pretty much London price. We didn't have coffee or drink though. The staff were friendly, kind, and really nice which added to our experience there. One of them spoke Thai to me once he knew I'm from Thailand. He was so sweet and I appreciated it although I was so surprised (in a good way) I didn't say anything back. Thank you and hope to visit soon 💗

Service abysmal. Long wait for anyone to take order, so we eventually flagged down one of the two waitstaff. Left after approx 90 minutes with no food arriving, and two later tables having been served. As someone who has worked in the service industry for a very long time the service here was abysmal. The restaurant was empty and the wait on service was still long, we ordered two fish hashes, one was fine but mine was filled with larger sized Bones. The fish was simply not deboned. When asking for water due to a bone being stuck in my throat there was still a wait and we asked several times. I had to go across the street to get water because I was actually about to throw up. Whilst I was at the shop my friends did make a complaint. They did take the orange juices off but was no apology or care. There was no politeness, there was no checking on how our food was. We were then told the service charge was MANDATORY. after all that. We refused. There was no notice on the menu or displayed anywhere in advance to say the 12.5% was mandatory. When leaving we still said thank you and there was no response. Just plain rude

The main was crispy fried chicken (falafel available instead) delicious pickled and fermented vegetables, crispy herb dusted roast potatoes, two flavoured mayonnaises, and a chilli sauce. After all this I was absolutely stuffed but managed a dessert of hot cinnamon bun with caramel sauce. It really was a feast, maybe best shared between two given the generous portions.

One of four Good Egg/Bagel locations, the original being in London. A mixed experience. The food here was decent, the service is okay, but this café misses the mark overall. The sabih pita was tasty but cold throughout, its "fudgey" eggs were closer to hard-boiled, and I'm not convinced the pita was not of the factory-made variety. It was £4 to add four small cubes of halloumi to the shakshukah, bringing the total for this tasty but relatively small dish to £17.50. My coffee was served in a cup which was clearly very dirty all around the rim; it was kindly remade without a fuss, but I could see the baristas using their steamwand cloth to wipe down the second cup before serving... Service was fairly slow, though food did come out quickly after ordering. Service wasn't rude, but also not the friendliest, and I was challenged when I asked to have the 12.5% service charge removed. It's great to see their collaboration with local favourite Northdown brewery, but coffee is from one of the big name London roasteries; it would be nice to see them serving coffee from any of the multitude of top notch Kentish roasters.

Overall a bit of a blah experience from a "neighborhood" restaurant which actually is a small London born chain. Service was slow but forgiveable on a Sunday during brunchtime rush. Food was tasty enough though steep pricing devised in Camden had also accompanied this chains journey to Kent with a whopping £4 added for 4 small cubes of Halloumi on my Shakshuka. Considering I could get a block of Halloumi across the street in Aldi for £2.16; this was a bit cheeky. Overall it wasn't the worst brunch of my life but I wouldn't come rushing back. Margate Old Town has such a wonderful variety of independently owned spots for brunch, lunch and dinner that I would sooner recommend trying.

What an amazing restaurant. We were nervous about going as our son is not a fan of middle Eastern food. But this turned out to be an amazing experience. The place is relaxed with really friendly and helpful staff. The kids menu of chicken and potatoes was perfect for our son. Deliciously roasted chicken and the same crunchy roasted potatoes from the main menu. For us the food was joyful. So many great combinations of flavours, both rich and subtle. The dishes we ordered were made with the cheapest ingredients and didn't taste nice at all. The side salad was about £7 and just bog-standard lettuce with white onions and soggy tomatoes. The oil tasted stale and the vinegar was over-acidic, cheap and nasty. The white wine we ordered was over-priced and barely drinkable. The whole meal literallty left a bad taste in our mouths for at least 24 hours!
