I’ve tried 4 different meals and all are exceptional. Fresh, tasty, quick and excellent value. A great mix of Asian options, defo something for everyone

The food quality has been disappointing given the price. After more than 20 years of using Good Earth, this past weekend's order will likely be our last. The quality of the food has declined considerably while the prices have increased disproportionately. Sadly, we won’t order anymore. They should pay attention to the reviews and make improvements.

Twice I've ordered two different dishes and twice they've sent the wrong dishes. No idea what's going on there especially at these prices. Avoid

Ordered a takeaway and it was utterly fantastic. Better than a lot of the stuff I’ve had in Chinatown. Pricey but very large portions . This is a chain of restaurants that is the first choice for many people - with a great reputation and I’ve never had a bad meal from any branch. I really don’t understand the bad reviews.

I agree with the other reviews - ordered a chow mein takeaway-£21 disgusting Went to bed and had really bad food poisoning. Spent all night washing sheets

There really isn't any atmosphere to speak of, as it's basically a kitchen with a waiting room. The food portions are generously sized and therefore the price is good. I have liked most of what I've had from The Good Earth. Note: I don't use a delivery service. My experience only reflects ordering and taking away (on my own two feet).

The Good Earth is a Chinese Takeaway. Unlike other patrons we have not yet had a bad meal from them and we have a delivery every Saturday night. David always has a prawn dish and I always have a chicken dish. We have never had any complaints about our food and wash it down with a nice bottle of wine and/or a can of chilled beer. We think the quality of the chicken is excellent ad so are the prawn dishes. Its not cheap but we like it and the delivery is always on time.

Overpriced and substandard quality of food.

Delivery meal. A single chicken dish was £16+ before sides. Did it taste better than the equivalent in my local charging £7? No. Time for rip off Britain to do one. Avoid.

I got a takeaway from here one Sunday evening with family. I decided to go for the Singapore Rice Noodles (£14.20) which consisted of mixed meats containing shrimps, chicken, and cha siu pork along with various vegetables. It was a nice, big portion due to the size of the takeaway box, so I couldn't complain about that part of my order. There was a good enough amount of mixed meat and veg in the dish also. I just found it to be a bit dry, so I added some soy sauce more than once in order to keep the dish moist. But yeah, just another average Chinese takeaway, in my opinion...which was overpriced considering it was just noodles with a bit of meat and veg, hence the 3 stars. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. The food arrived in good time, but I'm not fussed about ordering from there again, to be honest.

Good Earth was one of the best Chinese takeouts, unfortunately over the years they have declined in their quality of food We had a delivery last night, such a disappointing experience and so expensive So disappointed Will not be ordering thru them again. So sorry that they have declined

Food was awful, bland does not even come close. For the price of it, which is expensive it was disgusting. They have woks on stoves yet my egg fried rice was pulled out of the microwave. I will never buy food from there again. Very disappointing for the expensive prices. The worst Chinese food I have ever tasted.

The food is terrible. Called in and ordered minimum chicken with more vegetables and black bean sauce with boiled rice. Took it home loads of chicken and very little vegetables no sauce, apart from large chunks of broccoli. Rice came as solid lump. Phoned up and complained - Good Earth sent out replacement meal, although contained some sauce mainly consisted of chicken and again with large lumps of broccoli no other vegetables. Complained again by phone then rudely cut off! Put meal into the slops bin. I will never will go to this establishment again - keep away - no wonder the reviews are dreadful.

Used to be expensive and now downright extortionate. Portions are generous but the food is boring and unappealing. The menu hasn’t changed in ten years but the prices keep going up. The fillet steak in fruity sauce is one of the worst things I have ever ordered.

Hands down the best Chinese takeaway in London. Extremely clean, high quality, never greasy and tasty Chinese food. Highly recommend the vegetarian chicken dish (tastes better than real chicken). They have increased their prices by almost 50-60% over the last few years (average £14-15 for a dish), so certainly is a “luxury” takeaway.

Used to be expensive but fantastic quality. Now it's still very expensive but very poor quality. Food often ready almost immediately and not very fresh and really no better than any local, much cheaper alternative. The waiting area is tatty and the groups of deliveroo drivers and staff hanging around outside smoking isn't particularly appealing either. Really don't bother.

wherever you go in London you'll get better takeaway. avoid if your can. no point spending more time on reviewing...

Good food, but on the expensive side.

We ordered over £80 worth of food and felt that it was very poor value. The food was lukewarm on delivery and lacking in flavour. The Singapore noodles were dry and tasteless. The helpings were small and overall the meals were disappointing and poor value for money.

Nasty food. Will not come here again. Food does not look like what you would expect. It also tastes nasty. They have no chili oil.Just a nasty restaurant experience. I give this 0 stars.

I tried this place for the very first time after moving to Richmond since a year. I only bought vegetable spring rolls and asked for some sauce and the manager and staff looked at me as if I was an idiot and had never eaten Chinese takeaway before. Instead of saying we don’t offer but if you would like some sauce to dip your spring roll I would have appreciated the gesture. Overpriced £7 for rolls and the frozen supermarket ones taste much better. Never ever stepping a foot in that place. Huge disappointment

Charge me twice for the take away and failed to apologise after I pointed out THEIR error! AWFUL

Really over priced arrived cold small portions. We were missing a dish so I called for a refund. They took my card number and charged me again. So I paid twice for a dish we didn't get! Avoid

Terrible. Lots of chicken in my vegetarian pad Thai but still had some tofu so wasn’t that the order was wrong. Rang to say something must be wrong in the kitchen and was told they’d make a note for next time I ordered - as if it’s the exception to not want chicken in a vegetarian dish. Other food in the order was poor. Will never be back

Honey glazed ribs were inedible. Tough old meat. The kung po prawns were salty. All in all expensive and aweful. Never again.

For the cost this is now a joke. The shredded chicken with chillies was disgusting for £9.60 .Will not be ordering again and i see others are feeling the same. Hope it hits you in the pocket and remember once you lose the locals........game over. I see the poor reviews have been for a while so they were never heeded.

Prices AGAIN increased. Good Earth was never cheap, but now it starts to become ridiculous. They increased prices recently and now again. We like the food and we collect so no issue with delivery times. But in the 5 years or so we go there prices increased by 40 to 70%. E.g Soup, 3,90 to 5,90P Duck 36 to 51P (Vs 17% inflation since 2015) Last night is was VERY calm. Maybe long delivery times will not be a big issue in the future anymore. Anybody with a good alternative?

Sorry guys, had a delivery. Was awful. Pork was inedible, beef flavourless as was the chicken. Have had far better street food in brick lane. 2 stars is generous.

Ordered a Singapore Fried Noodles (£8.70) - Portion size was okay but the food was incredibly bland. This dish is well known for being spicy, even the menu denotes it as being spicy by having a chilli next to it! I can assure you, there was not a single note of spice or even a green or red chilli in sight. Also there was hardly any meat, in particular the Char Siu (Pork) of which there were maybe 2 or 3 tiny pieces. Considering the price tag they could at least have made an every day simple dish the way it should be. Thoroughly disappointed.

Food quality good, expensive for sure. But totally unacceptable delays if you order via website. Waiting over an hour and a half on a Thursday… website says delivered. errrrr so call the shop and ‘they just finished cooking it..’ last they time left some items out of delivery. If you are an over busy kitchen - just be honest. At this price, I expect much better service. The food is great however.

Guy who works here nearly knocked me off my bike. Driving at least 20mph over the speed limit and overtook me on a blind bend while on this phone! He pulled up to this restaurant unlocked the door and went inside. Absolute disgrace.

I was looking forward to getting a take away for Good Earth and eating it on Richmond Hill. The takeaway was very disappointing and not up to the standard I have had in the Esher restaurant. Food was very mediocre but the view was great.

The best Chinese takeaway in London: open kitchen, friendly service, non-standard menu, superb food, spotlessly clean & an efficient covid protocol that gives you confidence. I used to have a couple of pints in the Marlborough, whilst waiting for it & will add that back to the repertoire end May/early June

Fantastic food - probably the best Crispy duck in London I've had. The egg fried rice was delicious, and so was the chow main- specially with the fresh tasting seafood - and the Shanghai chilli chicken was right on the money with the great taste of Szchechuan peppers. I took off one star merely for getting charged £1.10 for a a small tub of chilli oil. I was told all extra condiments, such as vinegar or chilli oil, were charged extra and personally for me this was a put off considering my spend was near £50 on just four dishes. Little things count and charging for a small condiment is one of those. I'm definitely go back again for the food and won't be surprised for the cost of extra sauces.

I ordered a takeaway through Deliveroo, food arrived in good time but was the most appalling Chinese food I have ever seen. We did not eat it - it wasn't edible. Phoned the restaurant, they said to take it up with Deliveroo. Deliveroo reimbursed us, very good of them, but they didn't cook it did they? I will never use this restaurant again.

We have ordered for many years from Good Earth, but tonight I had the worst experience I have possibly had with any restaurant. We ordered a meal at 7.25pm and had it confirmed that it would arrive between 8.15 and 9pm. By 9.12pm the website showed the order had not yet left, so I rang them as my husband needed to leave at around 9.30 pm. I spoke to an employee named Pang who pretty much told me that it wasn't his problem that the food was late that they were busy so we should just accept that. The food actually arrived at 9.25pm but missing some of the order so I rang back to let them know - and got the same employee - who told me that if I wanted food on time and the correct order I should set up my own chinese take away!!!! So good luck to anyone ordering from Good Earth in future - apparently you will be better off setting up your own restaurant that relying on them to deliver your food.

So surprised about how many bad reviews this place has... yes it’s not cheap and it can often take a while to arrive (that should tell you all you need to know) but you get what you pay for and it’s worth the wait. The food is amazing and the portions are a good size. I’ve had some shocking takeaways in my time, this is definitely not one of them. Highly recommend.

I have bought takeaways from here previously, unfortunately the food was so bad especially the beef in blac bean sauce. It tastes bitter and burnt, and we threw most of in the bin. The rest of the meal was just ok.

The most tasteless and disappointing take away I recently had. Deliveroo rating showed more stars and I regret not verifying it with Google. Worth searching further.

Please please be careful if you have specific dietary requirements. I ordered a dish labelled as vegetarian to find it contained animal fat! Very dishonest and false advertising so will not use again.

They label dishes as vegetarian for which I had the misfortune to later discover they contain animal fat gravy! No respect for vegetarians. No point in telling a customer they need to specifically request vegetarian after they have eaten it!

I will never order from here again. Delivery took 3 hours. When it arrived it was overcooked and not hot. No explanation as to why it took 3 hours. No apology. Terrible service

Food now 1h30 late. Can’t get through to the restaurant on the phone. Shame as this is now the 3rd issue we have had ordering take away from here.

I ordered food but it never arrived. Full credit to them, they acknowledged the mistake and bumped my order to the front of the queue to ensure rapid delivery of the same order, full refund.

First time ordering from this place. Placed order online at 5:45pm to avoid the Friday rush and on the basis that system said delivery would take 45 minutes. After placing order was advised delivery would be at 6:50pm , this later adjusted to 7:20 pm. Called outlet at 7:50 to check , long delay in answering and then rude response, saying how busy they are. Then told order left 10 minutes ago ( I live 5 minutes away) and phone put down. 30 minutes later and order has still not arrived. Still waiting . This will be the last time ever use this outlet. Expensive, inefficient , rude . Don’t bother with it.

Having made two large online orders, the money was transferred We could not contact the restaurant as it was closed but the orders were later both cancelled. We were left in a very embarrassing situation with our 16 guests. We later contacted the manager who advised these were probably technical issues. We were extremely disappointed. Eight families will certainly twice before ordering from Good Earth again. Terrible service

AS per my title. I've no idea why this take away is so popular. The food is average, no dishes stand out.

Weve been a loyal customer for Good earth for 12 years and spent a small fortune over that time on regular orders . We wont be using them again. Its gone massively downhill recently and no longer justifies the extrortinate prices. RUDE service, Bad food, long delivery times. Avoid.

Ordered online - received various e mails saying order received, delivery dispatched etc. After almost 90 minutes phoned, to be told order never received "internet issues" can cook and dispatch now. Cancelled order, and won't use again.

Good food. However not good value for money as the portions were anorexic. My prawns were excellent however the black been beef with peppers and chili was a real disappointment

Ordered Singapore noodles and veg spring rolls. The 3 spring rolls cost £4.90 and they are pretty small so a complete rip off. They come with no sauce and when I asked for sweet chili sauce I was told I had to pay for it. Reluctantly I agreed to pay for it but then I was told they only had chili sauce and not sweet chili which is pretty standard for spring rolls. The Singapore noodles was an even greater shock. They were almost completely dry with hardly any sauce and pretty much zero taste. It was so bad I took them back and asked them to add some soy sauce or any sauce for that matter to give it some taste. Sainsbury does some Singapore noodles as ready made meal which are far more tasty than these. Truly pathetic. Maybe for someone that has never been to Asia this is acceptable but I lived in Malaysia for 3 years and the food is 100 times better than this, no matter where you go. No Asian person would eat this stuff. Guaranteed.

Ordered a delivery for 2 people online at 6.25pm. Given delivery estimate of 7.00 to 7.30pm. Phoned at 7.45pm when no sign of it. Was told food was just leaving restaurant ....... obviously it wasn’t as it arrived at 8.20pm. Felt portions had shrunk since we last ordered too. Food very tasty but we won’t be using Good Earth again.

absolute nightmare..... made an account on Google just so I can complain about this lot! Incredibly ignorant and aswell as something missing in the order, they wouldn't accept it or do anything! what a shame.. never again. and according to a local I'm friendly with that i mentioned this to they said the Richmond branch went really downhill in recent months, and the manager has ALOT to do with it. aswell as telling me the other Good Earth branch he went to the restaurant one is great, no problems.

Bland average food, never totally enjoyed it. Whenever you go in there they look far off into the distance even to the point when you are standing in front of them! They eventually look at you, but like to act like you don't exist for a good few moments first. It's as if someone that is apart of their customer base, that helps keep their business running isn't worth their time and it's so rude and weird.

This review is for Good Earth located in Richmond on 6 Friars Stile road. I had last night made a near £60 order and they delivered it almost 3 hours late!, it was cold, soggy, the meat tasted off and it all left us feeling quite unwell. Their driver who just dropped the food at my feet and put his hand out for money with a cold blank stare couldn't even manage a hello or a smile, a staff member who answers and yells down the phone that they "don't care, just wait and don't call" for just politely asking them where the food I had ordered OVER 2 and a half hours ago is at. I won't be placing another order from now on as they claim that they "don't care" and seeing that they have this type of attitude towards their paying customers, I suggest to others to go try a different Chinese takeaway instead.

Beef satay was amazimg. Prolly the best I have ever had. Chicken and sweet corn soup was a generous serving and certainly hit the spot. Super Tasty.

Fast, Tasty Chinese takeaway restaurant with various menu, friendly and efficient staff from Hong Kong and China.

By far the best Chinese we've found in the area, with dishes using good quality ingredients and not being overloaded with filler veg and gloopy sauces. Prices can quickly mount up though, but definitely our go to regular.

I absolutely love their vegetarian chicken. It's really tasty and the texture is great. I keep coming back for more of it but that's also the only thing I would go back for. The service is never really that great - the staff always seem quite moody, short and disinterested. I would also avoid the vegetarian hot and sour soup as it tastes likes they're using water from the dishwasher.

Ok, so there could be a long wait for the food to arrive but you can plan for that. However, I'm at a loss, the food quality has fallen off a cliff and we've been ordering for years.The Prawn Toast was dripping in oil and looked almost as bad as it tasted, with a really strange super thick pink paste topping.The chicken in the Thai Green Curry was grey and greasy, I could go on but I'm sure you get the gist, each did was pretty awful.I took the time to phone the restaurant first and explain my experience, they said its the same chef for the last decade and started to get a little argumentative, so I thanked her for her time and just explained that I wanted to give constructive feedback.I certainly wasn't looking for a credit, as I wouldn't order from the Richmond branch again.I'm sad to have lost what was our 'Go To' Chinese Takeaway :-(

So. After asking the delivery driver why the food was delivered 25 mins after restaurant said it would be delivered and watching him go to another house down the road..,he laughed in my face!! Do not use the people. Rude and pathetic service and bad bad food.

I have been going to the chain and using the takeaway stores for years until the day their card machine was playing up and an employee turned up at my door in the middle of the night asking for me to pay my neighbours bill. Wasn’t even my bill. The bill not being run through was because of a staff error not using the machine correctly too.

Overpriced, small dishes. Ordered the Egg Fried rice which was just steamed rice with a small amount of egg tossed through. No other ingredients. If a Chinese restaurant cannot make fried rice then what are you even doing. No apologies, just my money back please.

Unbelievable!! and terrible. they keep us waiting more than 1.5 hour for just two noodles. and they say that their standard time for waiting for these days is 75 MIN. try another restaurant. do not make yourself miserable with these people

GE has been our default Chinese delivery for many years. Nine times out of ten the food arrives very promptly (we live a mile away) and all is good.

Food is good but prices are a little steep.

We placed our order at 6pm for a delivery at 7pm, at 7.45 we had to phone and ask where our food is. It always takes 1 and 1/2 hours minimum. Also never order on a Monday asbyou get leftovers from Sunday refried.

Yummy Chinese food by the park and garden. Great option for takeaway and enjoy the food at the garden. Pad Thai and orange chicken were tasty!

Having used the Richmond takeaway over the years I have a love/hate relationship with Good Earth delivery.

I was living until recently near Mill Hill where this take away has a big brother 'The Good Earth' The food is pricey there but serves some of the best food I have ever tasted. The Richmond take away has similar level chefs in it and under normal conditions I would say it produces superb food if a little pricey.

Went to this branch after years of excellent service at the Mill Hill restaurant branch.. do not go here they do not know what they are doing... Order placed in the shop, were told there was no 'vegetarian' chicken so we opted for a vegetarian...

Very disappointing , it was very expensive and poor quality . I ordered half a duck which was burnt to a crisp and the Thai beef with basil was glupy and didn't contain any basil only onions and ginger and loaded with msg,I called and asked them if they had gave me the wrong dish as I had ordered two of them and it didn't have any basil in it to be told that is there version of the dish . I don't mind paying those prices which I do very often in Queensway but for good quality food which this was not .

This is our go-to Chinese takeaway. The food is always delicious and the ingredients used are undoubtedly of a high quality. I've had too many cheap Chinese takeaways where the food is greasy and I've been left feeling sluggish afterwards. The food here simply isn't like that. They use good quality meat and vegetables that are fresh. I recently had the tofu pad Thai which wasn't as sweet as I would have liked but also had the stewed aubergine which was unbelievably tasty. Their lemon chicken and beef in black bean sauce are cooked to perfection and the egg fried rice is so good you could just eat it on its own. There is often a wait for your takeaway, particularly if you order on a Friday or Saturday night but I assure you the wait is always worth it.

Probably the best Chinese takeaway I have ever had.Totally different to the usual "chinese takeway" food. It's like they have torn up the rule book and started from scratch, to very good effect. Everything cooked in front of you, and everything made from high quality ingredients. Not your average takeaway.Reflected in the prices, this place is more expensive than most, but well worth it in my opinion.
