Very good fish and chips, always busy which is a good sign. Gluten free mondays which is absolutley amazing offer. Service normally quick. Good portion sizes.

Fish and chips piping hot and was to die for . Only minor point was wooden forks which made eating it harder but was worth it!!

Always visit in a Monday when kn holiday in this area as its gluten free day. Really good food and value. Staff are friendly and food cooked fresh.

Great location for views and the bonus of sheltered, covered seating on a very windy day. All our food was cooked to order, excellent size portions, hot and delicious. Staff very friendly and efficient.

Great find in a sunny location with a lovely shaded/weather protected outdoor seating area to enjoy the views! Really good value for money with the meal deal offers and the staff were more than happy to swap out mushy peas for curry sauce on my husbands meal deal. The portions were fantastic both our boys (8 & 10) couldn’t finish their children’s fish and chip meal. Also liked the fact we could buy a whole bottle of ketchup for a really reasonable price and not piddly little sachets that cost a small fortune. Highly recommend!

Stopped off in Westward Ho! on a quick tour of the coast, The fish and chips where great! the wait time was a little long but the place was packed so couldn’t be cross, I hadn’t read the menu so ordered Fish and Chips twice and got two huge meals, could have easily split one between two. Nice lunch stop in a lovely seaside town… Classic

To put it simply,overpriced and a ridiculously small fish. Felt like we hadn’t eaten.we are local and wont return,not had the best experiences in the past here,but thought we would give them another go,wish we hadn’t. Been going there for years when the okd owners were there. Will stick to squires in braunton,cheaper,huge fish and free top up on chips…not that you ever need any

What an absolute delight this place was. Great to have some really fresh and incredibly tasty fish here. The batter is incredibly light and fluffy and didn't find an item I didn't like! Only downside is that it is a little pricey to some but for the quality of the chips but more so for the fish, definitely worth it. Remember it closes at 9pm!

Whilst we don't get to eat fish and chips very often, when we do, we hope to get what we paid for. The staff are not the friendliest, and seem to be more interested in chatting to each other than actually offering any customer service. The fish was mediocre, and the chips were disappointing. To me they tasted as if they hadn't been cooked long enough. It's hard to say whether this was good value or not, as I appreciate costs for businesses are sky rocketing these days. That said, we did come away disappointed.

I ordered large cod and chips ! Cod was so small more like a fish finger chips no better looked like a child’s portion 🤷‍♀️ maybe go abit further a field to get what you have paid for ! Staff to busy chatting than serving customers

I always go on Monday for the gluten free menu. The chips are nice and not soggy, and the fish is a good size with a nice crispy batter. Service is a little slow but I think they cook to order so its worth the wait. You can also order on the app and then collect which is handy. There is limited seating outside but it's lovely to take it down to the beach to eat. The only down side is that the portion sizes seemed a bit small the last few times I visited compared to before.

Not as nice as when I lived locally and visited regularly. It wasn't the best. If you look at the pictures you can see that the lettice looks like it's rotting and the peas look very unappetizing too 😒

Very expensive food, Poor quality food and service, Went in for lunch and was told I couldn’t have extra vinegar on my meal . WTF , The coffee was like recycled dish water, I would vote it as the world’s worst coffee I’ve ever had , Not a place I will return too

This chippy has the best fish and chips i’ve ever had! Every time we visit Westward Ho!, me and my family come to this chippy. It’s always packed with customers which reflects the quality of the food. The only downside to this is that you do have to wait a while for your food, but this is understandable as the food is great. Will definitely hope to come back to this chippy one day.

Ordered; 3 medium cod and chips, 3 mushy peas and a fish cake and chips. Waited 30 minutes for the order to be made (it was very busy with it being a bank holiday weekend, and we were told at point of order it would roughly take that long).We were told to wait over the road where they had marked spots with two meter distances for customers to wait. It is very crowded here, as it is a pavement with people coming and going. When the order was ready, they called our number and gave us a large paper bag stapled closed with a copy of our order attached. I checked the order was ours and walked away. Having collected our order, we walked to the public picnic area along the sea front by the beach huts to eat it - I’d highly recommend this spot, we had it all to ourselves! It has picnic tables and sea views. It also away from the masses on the green in front of the Atlantic Fish & Chips shop.We sat at the picnic table and opened our order. They’d given us 2 cod and chips, 3 mushy peas and a fish cake and chips. They’d missed a cod and chips from our order. At first I was going to go back but we had waited so long and I didn’t want to go through that all again. So, the four of us shared what we had, which turned out to be plenty and was delicious! Best fish and chips I’d ever had!!! Top tip - open the bag and check your order.

Fabulous fish and chips! We collected to take home - the batter on the fish was still hot and crispy when we tucked in. Great service and quality. But most important the taste was amazing! Now I can see why people are queuing round the corner! We used the App and then only had to wait a few minutes. Really good value too.

I would agree with other post that it’s an expensive fish and chips as the quality is just ok. We find the lead guy (not sure if he’s the owner) fairly abrupt and bordering rude. Head for Appledore it’s open.

On our first day we noticed people standing on the pavement opposite here.We ordered our meal the next day and chose a time to collect it. This is where the reason for waiting on the other side of the road became apparent!We arrived a minute before our time, and our name was called almost immediately.Very fresh, hot fish and chips of decent quality at a sensible price.Covid compliant.Recommended.

My mother is 84 and has eaten her fair share of fish and chips over the years, but in her words "they were the best fish and chips I've ever had " and we wholeheartedly agree with her! We visited in July 2019 and had take away chips, we just had to go back, we had take away lunch on our way home from a mini break. The fish & chips and battered sausage & chips were amazing. Batter was light and crispy and cod delicious. Chips were best I’ve had in a long while. Highly recommend

We come from Salisbury and can’t wait for our fish and chip fix from this fabulous shop, we have nothing like it in our area sadly.The food is so fresh and exceptional quality, I get so tired of eating chips that are soggy and taste unpleasant. The chips here are to die for and the batter on the fish is fantastic.Well done for the way the customers safety has been considered due to Covid, I think previous reviewers need to contemplate how difficult it is for such small establishments in these difficult times. Another visit before we go home still to look forward to.

We've had fish & chips all over the country and would say that this was amongst the best we've ever had. Plenty of chips, beautifully cooked and the batter on the fish was light and tasty. The ordering system works well - you order on an app or in person at the shop door and wait just across the road for your number to be called out. There are some tables under an awning at the shop and also benches across the road. Good value for money.

Great idea. Selection on offer was perfect. We placed the click and collect order, and sent the boys to collect it. They rocked up, went in and said the name. Waited outside to be called. Food was ready within the time that they stated and tasted delicious. 2x large fish and chips and a cheese chips. The only real negative for me was the lack of salt and vinegar. Didn’t taste like there was any on there.

Very well organised and tasty too! Easy to use app means no cash handling and no queues. This local business adapted promptly and impressively to the covid situation and is deservedly very popular with locals and holidaymakers alike.

We always make this our first port of call after arriving in Devon, and have another visit a least once during our time here. The app makes it very easy to order nd pay, and then just turn up at the allotted time to pick up the order. These are the best fish and chips in the area, and our chips are always put in a separate container as we share them. Staff are great and are doing a great job at this difficult time.

We downloaded the “Ap” prior to visiting and placed our order a few days before our arrival in Westward Ho. A few minutes before our collection time, we walked passed and noticed it was busy, always a good sign. We arrived to collect and saw the open-fronted benched seating area. The assistants were very quick to “anti-bac” the seats and tables immediately when vacated. Even though we had booked “take away”, we asked if we could sit at a bench. The order was “bang on time” and we sat, feeling very safe eating the delicious fish & chips. The staff are very efficient and every customer was greeted politely and, when handed their order, were bid “Good evening, enjoy your meal”. It is apparent that there is a very good training program in place. I spoke to the manager and complimented him on his staff and meal. We “found” this fish bar through Trip Advisor and feel it’s only right to provide feedback for other visitors. We’ve been staying in an apartment on the green where we can see the “Atlantic”. It’s been busy throughout the week, long may it flourish, they deserve it!

Fantastic simple menu with an easy to use click and collect service via an app, details on the door. Arrived to find it busy today but only had to wait 15 mins for food. The fish was by far the best I’ve tasted in the south west. Comparable to the north of England. Only issues, lack of hot drinks on the click and collect menu, and both of our dishes arrived without salt and vinegar, an option we had selected whilst ordering. We had to go back into the restaurant to get some added but it was no hassle. Would definitely come back here!!

We arrived in WH this afternoon, unpacked our cases and headed down to Atlantic baby for a chippy. It was very well organised and all members of staff complying with COVID guidelines, if not going above what we’d expect; A gentleman stood behind me and my partner in the queue and we hadn’t noticed he was far too close, the lad on shift asked him to step back away from us, thank you!We ordered, waited across the road and within 5 minutes our order was shouted. It didn’t disappoint, very delicious, perfect portion sizes and very well priced. 100% would recommend

Very organised, placed my order on the app and it was ready and packaged at the correct time. Food was great, good portion sizes. The only reason have scored down is that two items we’re missing from my order. I messaged to explain that we had some items missing and to ask for credit or a refund and have received no reply over a week later. Good food, terrible customer service.

Visited Westward Ho! for a lovely Sunday morning stroll and ordered fish & chips using the online ordering service. Really easy to use and collect at specified time!

My group of four friends got cod and chips from here. It was very good. It's just takeaway at the moment, but the system was efficient, the price was good and most importantly, eating our food on the seafront was a pleasure. Very crispy and fresh tasting.

Very good service in this difficult time, ordered using the app, which worked perfectly, food is good, maybe add King Rib to the menu, my husband would be very happy and would be a good seller.

We live near Whitby and if you’ve ever been you will know how many fish and chip shops there are and a few are often recommended in the press. The Atlantic Bay is up there with the best of the best and in my view the best fish and chips I’ve tasted in a long time. Definitely 5 Star rating. Beautiful white cod and crispy light batter with no grease.

You can order on,-line or when you get there. Place your order whilst socially distanccing then wait over the road for your numbrr to be called. We sat at one of the tables but there are benches and a large grassed area(if it is dry). Chris, the owner, is there and all is very pleasant.

Always busy but understandably so! Good COVID measures in place and the ability to order via the website in advance for either collection or delivery. There are also chairs and tables on the green and a couple indoors for those wanting to eat on the premises. We opted to collect at an allotted time and took it back to our holiday accommodation. Plentiful portions and delicious fish! A real holiday treat.

Having heard such great things about this place I am sorry to say it was very disappointing. Food was cold and fish dripping in grease. Won’t be going back unless they live up to the reputation they have built in this lovely village

We had hands down the best fish and chips that we have had in a very long time here. It was quite busy and there was a fair wait, but god it was worth the wait! We sat on the bench on the promenade and ate it as all the benches were full. We enjoyed the view while we ate our extremely nice fish and chips! It was well enjoyed and worth the money.

We are staying in Westward Ho for a week, and read that this is the place for top notch fish and chips locally, which worked for us- superb meaty haddock , lovely light batter, no grease, and golden fluffy chips, crispy on the outside.We used the click and collect service which worked really well, we will surely return before the week is up

Came here to satisfy our fish and chips craving for our week away in North Devon. The ordering system to allow for social distancing worked well - ordered outside and waited opposite the road. The service was very quick. Outdoor seating available. Food was great and all at a good price.

The food was good: pretty much what you'd expect from a chip shop, but I'd say a bit better than normal, and definitely not as greasy as most. The ordering app and collection service is very easy to use, and during the current Covid-19 era, makes this an obvious choice.

Wasn’t sure where to stand to order food. Eventually got served and was told to stand across the road so people walking on the other side of the road could not get passed! However collected our fish and chips. Fish was nice but the portion size was not very big and the chips were ok. Wouldn’t rush back.

Fantastic spot overlooking the sea, service was pretty good considering how busy it was. The fish (Cod) was was very tasty and the chips were cooked just right. Don't mind paying a bit more for fish and chips when they are delicious.

Under the circumstances really good. You order and pay, then wait over the road until your order is ready. We had cod & chips, mine was excellent but my husband’s was slightly “pasty” (under cooked). Maybe rushed due to the queue. Portions are a little on the small side. Overall I really enjoyed it but the larger appetite might be disappointed.

We are frequent visitors to the area and made the mistake of getting some fish and chips from Atlantic Bay fish and chip shop. The portion were measly, leaving our family hungry after finishing... likely a third the size of another fish and chip shop. A large portion of chips was a normal sized box that was less than half full... maybe half a plate full. Such a shame, tasted ok but didn’t offset the stingyness. At least we know now to avoid this tourist trap.

We pre-ordered for collection before arriving. Our food was ready during the time slot it said and the food was very fresh and hot. Just one note, it doesn't come with salt or vinegar on, so maybe say in the notes section when pre ordering if you do want either of those. I took mine back to them and they happily added salt. Good food in a good location.

The food from this place is great (the long queues tell their own story!) - the batter is light, the fish is tasty, the chips are chunky and very more-ish, the prices are good, and if you order online the service is seamless. Beautiful location next to the green and right next to the sea - perfect.

Ordered click and collect from Atlantic bay fish and chips today whilst visiting family in Bideford.First time ordering anything via click and collect and was a very quick and painless ordering process .We arrived to collect our order in the designated area and promptly received our two haddock and chips and curry sauce.Food was freshly cooked ,piping hot and absolutely delicious.Staff were fast ,friendly and dedicated to customer needs .We were particularly impressed with the way the owners have taken many precautions to ensure social distancing .What a great shop !!Highly recommended.

I am sorely disappointed to leave a negative review, yet we all know the truth hurts and I hope the management review their pre-order policy. After recently using Atlantic Bay’s click & collect system, I was upset with my first experience of this restaurant. I was thrilled to see that I could order my food, to collect it an hour later! However, when I went to collect my order it was an utter shambles. I understand it was a Friday night during the summer, but I do NOT understand how 20 minutes after my collection time my food was nowhere to be seen, yet customers who were ordering on the door, were receiving food before mine! I felt sorry for the young staff on the door, who were having to deal with the complaints of customers, with no sign of management around to help with the organisation of this business. Do not continue to take orders on the door, if you’re customers who have pre-ordered are still waiting for their food!

Visited here again for the great fish and chips, and once again they were superb. This place cannot be faulted. Very highly recommended

Although I’ve used Atlantic Bay’s click and collect service successfully about a month ago, I would no longer recommend this restaurant, go somewhere else if possible. They have absolutely no sense of organisation during busy periods and I was told a collection time on their website, having no idea that they were even busy before I arrived. There was a massive queue extending on both sides of the road, I waited over half an hour past my collection time for my order and watched people who had ordered in person after myself collect their orders first. We were unable to speak to anyone other than the two young people working the collection and order point who knew nothing and were completely unable to offer any help or explanation for the ridiculous way this takeaway was operating. People had been standing waiting for orders that were almost 40 minutes late and they continued to take more orders which leads me to believe the people who run this place care more about taking as much money as possible and not the experience of their customers. I would not go here again especially during a busier period of the year as I do not want a repeat experience of such careless service.

Amazing fish and chips right by the seaside. Great chips, just the right thickness on the outside and soft and fluffy in the middle.The cod is the best I've had.They are managing social distancing well with a terminal to order from and labelling queuing across the road.

Yesterday I went to Atlantic bay with family for the first time and we were blown away by the fantastic food and friendly, welcoming staff. Thank you so much for making our family holiday enjoyable. We will definitely be back the cod is crispy and delicious and the chips are lovely. Thanks all.

There are separate ordering and collection points , with space clearly set out for us to wait for our order to be freshly prepared. The fish was delicious, light crisp batter and very tasty fish. The chips were perfect with just the right amount of salt and vinegar added.

Now during these testing times we understand the procedures that have to be followed, however when there are no clear instructions on where to stand to queue I do not appreciate being told in a very rude mannor that we were in the wrong place. There were no clear instructions. The food was nice although a little expensive.

The title says it all I’ve ate fish and chips around most parts of the country due to travelling for work. This one is by far the best.

Called for lunch on our visit to Westward Ho. Very well organised due to Covid19. No seating or entering the shop, there was a touch screen computer at the entrance to where you ordered and paid for your food. Then you stood on the opposite side of the road on markers, when your food was ready the number on your receipt was shouted out. A few tables was available near the grassed area where you could sit. We both had fish and chips, peas n gravy. Also 2 coffees. The fish was very tasty and lightly battered. Peas n gravy good to. Would go back there if we visited again.

This is a very busy chip shop right next to the sea front - duing COVID restrictions, you can queue and then wait over the road for your name to be called - or do what we did and book (and pay) on-line then collect at yourgiven time - really efficient - please try they are top rate
