The Golden Dragon in Rochford

Absolutely shocking place. Ordered for a nice new years eve treat and was told a 2 hour wait (understandable because of the occasion). The food came 40 minutes early but came stone cold. My partner found her chicken balls to be raw. The funniest part is that they wanted the food back to give a refund. Are they reusing sent back food?! Grim, never order here!

Unexpectedly special? Fry noodles, paid an extra pound to go large, but still kind of smaller than other takeaway 's normal size. Taste wise not special, not much meat or vegetable or noodles. I guess it fits perfectly well, if you are going to have a pot noodle as well. It makes both tastes better and more satisfactory.

This is my first time ordering from this as I wanted to try something different from my usual place. What I got was what I felt was the exact same or, in some cases, worse. I ordered Singapore Noodles with S&S Chicken Balls & a Pancake Roll (accidentally ordered). The noodles tasted warmed up and not freshly cooked, as if they had been stuck in a container for a while and reheated before being sent out. The Chicken Balls had a very unpleasant texture to them so they went straight in the bin. The Pancake roll tasted awful, possibly one of the worst, but I couldn't be overly upset, considering I accidentally ordered it. I ordered at 6 pm, but the order didn't arrive until well past 8:30 pm, and there was no update from the restaurant. Overall, it was a pretty poor first experience. The food tasted similar to a previous place I used to order from but just worse. If you take 2 hours to deliver food, consider shutting off your deliveries to allow your drivers time to get food out in a timely manner. In the future, I will go back to my original takeout and just pay the extra delivery distance charge.

Can’t review the food as it never turned up. Ordered through their own website, after waiting 2 hours, when called they said quite abruptly that they only had one delivery driver. Ok this might be simple but if you only have one delivery driver, don’t accept so many orders for delivery.

In a cost of living crisis, to be choosing to spend my money with this establishment only to be dictated to on how that payment is made (ie has to be cash under £18) is not acceptable. We have been loyal customers for many years. Not any more!

Never had any issues with the food but the Sunday service seems a bit sketchy recently. Last sunday the website said "not cooking" and this Sunday it has a 125 min delivery. Went elsewhere again.

Sweet and Sour Chicken Balls were very good full of white meat.

The food is ok but telephone manners of the girl on phone are really bad she needs to learn some manners

Very very nice, large portions and really well cooked, crispy but not overcooked. Definitely will go again!

Second take away and my fav Chinese in southend area from now on! Lovely authentic food prepared nicely not greasy and cooked perfectly. I don’t get the rating as it is as good as what we get from good Chinese restaurants in london.

This is my favourite Chinese Takeaway. Have been ordering food from here for a good few years now and never disappoints.. Food is always hot when delivered. Reasonably priced. If the dinner is later than anticipated , they will ring you and let you know..

The food was terrible we ordered egg fried rice that was boiled rice that was overcooked then slightly fried, prawn toast x2 was very greasy not nice at all, then the chips was soggy and tasted recooked, crispy duck was extremely fat took along time to chew, the last item was crispy chicken x2 and that was terrible for some reason there was chunks of sugar scattered all over the chicken as you can see in the photo, in total it cost £38 so I phoned the shop as I was unhappy with the order they said bring it back for a refund so I didn't they gave me £15 refund i wasn't happy they said because we ate a little bit of it we can't get a refund but of cause some of it was gone I had to taste it go know it was bloody awful.

Lovely chicken balls!! Always get a good feed from this place. Nice friendly staff too.

Food drips in grease and lacks taste. The company still charge a card surcharge which is illegal. Wrongful advertising on their website about free prawn crackers for collection orders over £10 - they said this was from an old menu despite website being live. A number of children working behind the counter.

Changed hands recently and the food is so much better. Very nice

Great food and prices, always delivered very fast and piping hot! Easy to order through their website. Have tried several in Rochford and Golden Dragon is our favourite.

Food was luke warm, 1 half of the noodles were uncooked and over all I ordered spicy food and got no Spice or heat in the whole thing. Only good thing was the spicy salt chips that were hot and spicy

Ordered a takeaway this evening and was told it would be about 30-40mins. 1 hour and half later it arrived after calling saying I was still waiting and my response was well we got busy and it’s on its way!! When I opened our order it was nearer enough cold and was missing part of order!! I thought this was awful bearing in mind we had waited sooo long! My husband called to tell them and again response was oh sorry my manager isn’t here should I get her to call you! We decided to drive to the takeaway and return this terrible meal we had received and when my husband got there the managers response was well we got busy and that’s what happens when you have food delivered!!! There was no apology for such a poor service bearing in mind we were regular customers aswell she couldn’t care less!! Funny aswell that she wasn’t available on the phone but happened to be there 10mins later when we arrived!! She even had the cheek to not even return the delivery charge until my husband mentioned it. The golden dragon has yet again lost another customer due to their lack of response and not being able to address a problem or issue in a professional manner! What was once a good Chinese is now at the bottom of the chain!

I eat food from this Chinese near enough every night, the chips in spicy salt and pepper garlic are to die for. Such tasty food has bad reviews from different people but then again everyone knows what they like and I like this food

Hi their the order came quickly with In 30 minutes thought it was not as expensive as others but you only get what you pay for if you know what I mean. I ordered beef Curry ,chicken chow main, chicken balls and chips I'm sure Tesco's give a better curry just of the shelf lol . I will never be ordering any thing else of the Golden dragon but I think the shop as change names now many thanks for looking at this thanks Col.

ordered a meal saturday. waited an hour and a half!! when it finally turned up it was cold and unsatisfactory. the beef curry was solidified and the meat was like actual leather. really disappointed in the lack of response from the owner, Tracy and the phone staff. certainly lost my custom!

Who ever was taking orders on phone at 8:30pm kept giggling wasnt concentrating and three times couldn't take card order so went to Timbo House so much easier card went through first time

Ignore the 1 star,I tried to post this with a 0 rating.Pork with gristle is not on the menu,but that's what I got along with the greasy chow mein...totally disgusting
