Costa Coffee in Rochford

Never offer a serviette with food, always have to ask. Cannot use my Costa Card at this place. The scanner does not work with my card, every other Costa in area and beyond works fine. Mentioned it several times but still the same after a year. Staff are polite.

Drinks and cakes are lovely, food is OK. Just wish the staff would clear and wipe down tables more often.

I highly recommend Costa Coffee from Southend Airport Business Airport. Fantastic coffee aroma!!! Yummy chocolate brownie cheesecake!!! A quiet and peaceful place away from the hustle and bustle of the Southend city centre. October 2024.

I am a regular at the cherry orchard Costa -at least 3x /week! On this occasion , I forgot to register my car .i went to ask if the ticket could be rescinded as they all know I was there but overstayed 20 min- if I had registered, I would have been allowed 3 hours. Spoke to a “manager” on duty called Paula who immediately dismissed my distress .all the pther staff there are lovely except this lady who I never got a pleasant encounter with so it came as no surprise she dismissed me the minute I mentioned about the parking fine !! I feel Costa should follow the good working ethics like most decent cafes and restaurants and treat their regular customers as individuals and asses the situation!! . So disappointed with the staff attitude there esp Paula’s . I was told by another staff that people tend to abuse the parking - that’s fine but regulars like me makes genuine mistakes !! Shame on your attitude, Paula!!! - you could just rescind the ticket with the parking company if you wanted to but you chose to be dismissive and not willing to help . Take lessons on being kind and non judgemental .

Had 2 coffees and 2 packs of biscuits. The coffees were lovely and the service was good but £4 for 4 biscuits is stronging it even for a coffee shop .

Paid £15 for the privilege of two coffee and croissants. Drinking dining area was dirty. All tables needed a good wipe, floor needed a good sweep. Chairs had seen better days Was not that busy so no excuses. Staff were efficient

Updated review: ordered on the app, said 5mins. After 20mins waiting in the car park i went in. There were no other customers. I asked about my order there was no trace of it. They made the order from my phone screen. Sounds like a review i read which currently shows as 3months ago. Seems like its not fixed yet. I recommend not ordering on the costa app. Not how i wanted to spend all of my lunch hour at all.

I do really like this costa coffee always good . But I do think they should tell every customer that they need to put the reg details in the ipad as it is not very prominent.

Always lovely friendly helpful staff. Large store inside despite interesting location. On the edge of a retail park which is not quite built yet. Ample parking for 90 mins. A few tables outside with sun shades. Despite proximity to the airport you cant see much air traffic from here so if you want to plane spot, come here and grab your drink then go somewhere else.

I like Costa, but having screens that cycle through to show the menu and then the screens don't actually show the menu is absolutely pointless. If this is how you want your screens to be, at least have a physical copy somewhere that people can read.

I used to like coming here as was out the way but it's such a shame there is now a parking restriction in place as sometimes when catching up with friends I'd like to stay longer, and would also purchase more drinks but your car can only be there for 90 minutes and no return withing 2 hours. Myself and my friends have now said we will go somewhere else so we're not rushed but if you're just popping there for a short amount of time then it's nice enough

Nice place unhappy staff ,certain staff require urgent re training regarding coffee making and customer relations,I don't mind they're slow if the coffee was made perfectly..lol. but hey on the plus side its cured my constipation,dont bother you get fined for parking if you drink coffee or take too long, half the time is spent queuing for it....toast,, how about putting the bread in the "toaster", then making the coffee while it's toasting they both arrive hot ish ? Same time ish ?. PS .have to give one star unfortunately to leave any feedback 😕

Typical Costa coffee. Everything was overpriced. If there had been an alternative nearby and my granddaughters didn't need the loo and a drink after dancing would have gone elsewhere. Coffee is reasonable, but food grotty

Ordered on the app from the car park as I usually do. The app told me it would be a 5-7 minute wait which is perfectly fine. 20 minutes go by and my order hasn’t even been started. I was watching the staff stand around and chat for 20 minutes instead of making food. Don’t usually have this issue but they tried to justify what ended up being a 30 minute wait with an upgrade in drink size.

BEWARE…if you stay in the car park for more than 90 minutes, and don’t register your car on the iPad which is apparently at the till, then you will receive a £100 parking notice fine through the post. It would be nice if the staff made sure customers were aware of this when ordering their items. This is what other, reputable, companies do

Went to Costa cherry orchard way in Southend and ended up with a £100 parking fine! Not impressed!

I got stung by the parking scam as well. They are asking me to pay £210.

This is one of the better Costas around with perfect coffees and toasties. (Some branches don't manage those basics) Only didn't get 5*s as drive through,which is what we specifically wanted,was not available today. Busy but short handed.

Went here for a lunch meet up and spent a fair amount while here only to then recieve a parking fine for £60!! Be aware of this SCAM! You have a limited time to park! I didn't even think to look at signs as the Costa sells drinks and food plus encourages you to stay as they have many tables inside, free WiFi etc. There is no other outlets around so people aren't likely to park here and go elsewhere!! It wasn't busy in there and the staff could clearly see we had been there for some time as I went up to pay many times!! But no mention of anything!! I will not use a Costa again. Don't waste your time or money here!! SCAM!!!

The location is an absolute delight, in a nice corner opposite Cherry Orchard. The staff were really friendly. The store has a very good vibe. Ample parking space. Didnt try the drive through, that is next up. The standards are still up after almost a year. Very good service

Very slow service. 20 minutes waiting to be served and only 4 people in front. Ridiculous. Only wanted two drinks to take away and after twenty minutes I gave up.

The poor staff are overwhelmed with customers. The wait in to be served was over 15mins. Move on to a different place

Service is satisfactory with room for improvement, and the food quality meets a good standard. However, there's a car park issue managed by a third-party company. I am using Costa Coffee's car park service directly, not through a third party, therefore, penalties shouldn't be issued on behalf of the third-party company. Legal action from the car park company stands no chance. I'll let them take me to court, providing a valuable lesson against engaging in illegal practices and attempting to take advantage of people simply wanting to enjoy a coffee.

Avoid! Parking scammers! I recently came here with a friend for food and coffee. at no point did the staff ask us to leave or tell us that we only have a maximum amount of time in their cafe. Why have a seating area with wifi if you can't stay? I regularly come here for meeting with clients and spend on average £20 a time. I will not be coming back. I will be going to the Lounge Club instead

Terrible staff. Always so, so slow it's beyond a joke. Staff are rude and unhelpful. Won't allow you to have the drink of your choice without paying extra for cream, chocolate pieces, etc. Now introduced paid-for parking to get even more money. Just an all round terrible store.

The most positive thing I can say about this Costa is that parking is very easy as it has it's own car park. I would say don't go there on a Sunday afternoon, as it can get quite busy, and there aren't enough staff to cover both the sit-in and drive through customers at the same time, or even to clean tables. They also have a very annoying policy of only allowing one voucher per visit, meaning that if you want to take advantage of more than one voucher, you need to go back and make another purchase, which is just ridiculous.

Awful company mafia tying in with parking eye, the worst company in the world. Buy food and coffee and then dessert and a tea, park in a carpark with no other purpose but to be in Costa, receive a parking ticket for staying 1hr 46min. Absolutely no way to fight it as the time frames by the mafia of parking eye are so do or die with regards to appeals. Disgusted with Costa for aligning with this absolutely corrupt private parking company. Will never use any Costa, Costa machine in shops or any products again and will ensure everyone knows never to go to this particular branch again and be sure to know of your car park alliances. You should at least be warning your customers in store who’ve got hold of your car park and not be leaving it to the customer to deal with directly without any way of help from you.

I got a ticket for parking for over 2 hrs.....I brought drinks in Costa and was talking with my friend......we both didn't notice the time 🙃

Beware of Parking Fee! Apart from the reviews here stating the obvious about slow service caused by the drive-thru, customers should be aware that the free car park here comes at a cost. You get 90 minutes free but after that you get stung £60 by ParkingEye. Having gone to the branch to ask the manager to see if anything could be done to get the fine rescinded, we were told that we should learn to read the 9 notices in the car park (!). There is a tiny screen inside the branch where you can enter your reg number to get extra free parking. The screen does not tell you this... just says "enter your registration number". There is no warning that you will be charged otherwise. I admit not many people WOULD want to spend more than 90 minutes here but a lunchtime meet-up meant that we did. Most expensive coffee ever and a rude condescending manager's tone means that our custom has been lost.

I am a regular customer in this drive thru. I was not told at the payment point by Tia today that I couldn't scan my costa card if I was paying cash as I would have just used my card. She then took ages to actually give me the coffee that was just sat there after she spoke to other customers. Then she proceeded to try and argue with me when I challenged her not giving me all of the information. Then she told me that I could come in with my receipt and scan my card (after me telling her I had my toddler asleep in the back). So rude and non accommodating. I use this costa drive thru regularly as I usually have a toddler asleep in the back and it's close to my parents house. If there was another option such as Starbucks I would use it without hesitation.

Customer service is awful. Never get the order right. Swearing in front of kids. Always a huge queue. Clueless.

Very rude manager and till boy (didn't have a clue what he was doing) would be a benefit for Costa to replace staff.

Usually nip in to this costa for a coffee on my lunch, and have never had a negative experience! The staff are always absolutely lovely, even when it’s extremely busy, they’ll always find time to serve your drink with a smile, and if it’s not busy they always put up with my nattering. From other reviews, I can see people complaining about wait times, however I’ve never had to wait ridiculously long for my drink, and understand that lunchtime, in a coffee shop, will be busy and therefore I may have to wait a bit. I think the staff are a real testament to this costa, and am always happy to go here for my latte. :)

Queued 45 mins for 2 drinks - they need more staff. So many people were just walking out. Don't know why they don't have someone just doing hot food as it seems they can't serve drinks at the same time? Absolute chaos. Allow yourself an hour to give yourself time to get served. Shocking!

Disappointing that dogs are not allowed inside, which meant our party couldn't sit together. There was also an issue with wasps that made it very unpleasant for everyone sat outside. They also don't do any non butter options, so not suitable for vegans or anyone who doesn't like butter.

Visited on a Saturday and it was super busy. Parking spaces are too close together so struggle to get out of your car and once inside there was a massive queue along with it being so noisy in there that the poor guy taking my order still got it wrong after me repeating myself 3 times.

It's a Costa! This branch is always busy and wait times reflect that.

This Costa Coffee is near a Hotel near Southend Airport it's a bit out the way and a bit bleak. But great service and great Coffee.

The menu at the drive through is broken and unreadable. So If you want to try what's new, you can't as have no idea what it is ? Bad show Costa rochford drive through.

Not great, Staff were immature, giggling, shouting, messing about. Didn't seem like anyone was in charge. I stood there for nearly 5 minutes before someone even made eye contact with me. The other customers didn't seem impressed either.

We were going through the drive thru and we were put in the waiting bay for an hour! Bloody annoyed, I want my refund.

Agree with others. The drive though is so slow I don’t bother coming here any longer. Also If you have any of the milky coffees from here they are always way too hot to the point you have to leave it 10 minutes before you can safely drink it. This is a disappointing Costa that makes coffee worse than the Costa machines you see in local filling stations.

Shocking!!! What is the point of having a “drive through” wether it be Monday or Sunday the drive through is closed!! With this the length of the queue inside is almost out the door every time! One person serving and one barrister who will always be having a full blown conversation with the server about random personal stuff. Every time myself or my husband say let’s chance it and see if the drive through is open we’re are always proven right with “it won’t be” Waest of energy keeping the store open!

Nice clean new store but service is super slow and inside it seems because they have the acrylic dividers between the cafe and the que the air con cannot regulate temp and so its like a furnace!

Absolutely terrible. If the staff moved any slower they would be going backwards. No customer service skills, no training. Took half an hour to get three frappes.

Sadly, the drive-through was closed again for the second consecutive day. The ordering process was slow and laborious. The drink I ordered probably had something to do with this but staff were friendly.

It's pretty terrible, slower than usual, even for Costa standards, which is saying something in itself. Staff are very in experienced, get them some proper training or move some experienced colleges over to help them as it feels the majority of the staff here sre out of their depth.

This Costa coffee has improved. It is better now that the many young with the their fancy cars are not all collecting there. Parking space.

Used the drivethru today as thought it would be quicker. What a mistake. Dont know what the car in front of me was ordering but take over 5 minutes, for one drink. And once your in the queue your stuck, can't get out. The drivethru menu needs to be reduced to stop this ridiculous hold up. One poxy latte is all I wanted.

PLEASE get the staff trained properly to move faster. So slow it’s not funny anymore. Often refuse to come here for a while due to time it takes. Then come back a month or 2 later in hope it’s got better. Nope. Such a shame as great location and staff fall friendly but they just haven’t been trained properly.

Just went to drive thru ask for 2 cappuccino's then asked for chocolate was told can't have chocolate on lattes added chocolate and was told was cappuccino's at this point to leave and find out that it's a latte try to contact. Costa would not let me submit form due to site address which was copy and pasteured from online

The manager and guy working with him were really friendly and super helpful. I ended up with extra cheesecake to take home after a mixup with our order and it was sorted immediately, in a really human way. Couldn't fault them.

Great coffee and a lot of choice, but long wait times if someone ahead has ordered several toasties, as it was for me.

Overpriced. Slow to get served, but no reflection on the staff there who were all working very hard. Prob needed more staff. My cherry lemon cake was end of the loaf - was stale one side. Not worth the money.

Unfortunately it’s a bad review, been here twice now, first time we used the drive through, a young girl took our order, I asked for a oat milk cappuccino and she asked if I wanted chocolate, obviously I said yes please, we collected our order and drove a good few miles to a green area and I opened up the lid on my cappuccino and no milk froth and no chocolate so basically a normal slightly milked not that great coffee, I couldn’t be bothered to go back so just drank as is, Today we gave them another chance and drove the miles to get there, drive through was closed so we parked up and went in to order, plenty of staff but mostly lots of young hormonal kids learning the ropes, polite guy asked to take our order and had to apologise for not having any oat milk so second visit and second disappointment, obviously it’s too difficult for them when they run out of something just to pop to Tesco down the road to top up on milk although I doubt anyone there was old enough to drive, We ended up going to the Hockley high street costa instead, Avoid this useless costa until they learn to organise themselves properly but I’m not sure that’s going to happen any time soon.

Don’t know wether it’s good or bad as I went and it’s shut. Google times needs to be updated.

Almost every time I’ve been to this store the drive thru has been shut, which is half the reason I come here as there is a closer store to me in Rayleigh. Opening hours also aren’t correct online, says it opens at 7am on a Sunday and it isn’t open until 8:30am. Half the food is normally out of stock as well

Incredibly slow, sorry I love Costa but using the drive through was meant to be a quicker option I think I’ve spent more money on petrol waiting then the drink itself

Costa's is Costa's but the coffee was well made and sitting outside is nice, as it's very quiet as there is very little there at this present time, so make the most of it before the new warehousing and outlets are built.
