Great place in a lovely location, building displaying localised history. Food is nice at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended and I will be visiting again.

I’m not usually fussed about Weatherspoons, however, I spent most of the 2010’s sneaking into abandoned buildings and urban exploring and the ELC Building was always on my list of places to visit, but was always sealed tight with sheet metal and would have been pitch black indoors anyway. Kudos to Spoons for breathing new life into an old building - it’s architecturally stunning inside and out, honestly. Well worth a visit just for a wander around inside, plus, it’s one of the few bars that sells Bumbu (the best alcohol ever) and the Halloumi Fries never miss

Not usually a fan of Wetherspoon establishments, but this was a pleasant experience. Food was fine, it’s what you expect from them and for the money you pay. Parking is available and free, although I’d imagine is limited during busy times. You just need to enter your car reg. on the screen at the end of the bar. Service was good too. The standout feature is the building itself, which has so much history. Inside and out I was amazed. Kudos to Wetherspoon for bringing this building back from the brink and helping it serve purpose once more. Well worth a visit, but make sure it is when the students are out of town as I think they probably clog the place up. I went over the Christmas period during the day and it was nice and quiet.

Student bar mainly, just off the headlingly scene. Beautiful pub aesthetics however, Typical wethersoons. Cheap food. Cheap drinks. No music. Pretty standard.

They tried to kick my friends and I out with unreasonable cause, then accused us of doing drugs in the toilets to try and get us out. Their reasoning was "on the cameras, we saw your friend touch his nose when he walked out of the bathroom" (they were already looking at us on the cameras before and "caught" my friend). While confronting them, one of the workers actually admitted to me that the staff has bad communication between each other. We were some of the only young customers there at the time and they assumed we would be doing drugs and breaking the rules so they closed my boyfriend's account when he tried to order drinks, told us to leave, then accused us of doing drugs. This situation really scared me and I even told the worker who kicked us out and he clearly didn't care about his customers' experience. Meanwhile, there was a man passed out in the toilets the entire time we were there but the staff didn't care about what he may have been doing in the toilet for so long, only the young customers. If you are of University student age DO NOT GO HERE, you WILL be profiled just because of your age.

I’m just on here to shout out a woman who looked me up & down as if implying I don’t have a disability when I used the disabled toilet today. Wind your neck in - not ALL disabilities are VISIBLE. Apart from that it’s a brilliant pub, staff excellent.

This Weatherspoons opened in a large building which had not been in use for a number of years. The main area is open and spacious. There are also more intimate areas. The main area has organ pipes for wall decorations, from the buildings original use. There are also framed information panels covering local history. The rear wall is almost completely glazed with a view over the valley.

Good food at affordable prices.

Tonight I ventured into a realm I’d only heard of in hushed tones—The Golden Beam pub quiz. Let me tell you, it was not an evening; it was an experience. Imagine, if you will, stepping into a crucible of intellectual chaos, where brains are forged like steel and egos shattered like cheap pint glasses. The night began innocently enough. Pints were poured, the 2.99 wings were shared, and there was a sense of camaraderie in the air. But then, Darren emerged—a figure both revered and feared. With the commanding presence of a minor deity, armed only with a microphone, an encyclopedic knowledge of fine art, and a dog called Bailey, they set the rules of engagement. It was clear from the start: this was no place for the weak-willed or the Google-dependent. 10/10 quiz will come again.

Positives: The pub is clean, spacious and the staff are really friendly. Negatives: There's no shelter for anyone smoking or vaping.

It is what it is, Decent food and drinks at a very fair price, very pleasant staff and a lovely building. Well worth a visit. Remember to input your car registration at the bar and you will be just fine. Recommended.

Not a fan of Tim Martin's politics but I enjoyed a decent quality, very reasonably priced curry and beer and good service too.

It’s local with a good choice of beer. It’s one of the better spoons I have been in.

Que mis amigos no son un gran fan de Cuchara creo que se pierden en este. Hermoso interior en un entorno único. Y si quieres evitar grandes aglomeraciones o gente ruidosa puedes elegir la hora de tu visita porque su defo no es así ni todo el día ni todos los días. Lugar encantador e increíble en Headingley. Asegúrate de revisarlo. Puedes encontrar otra gran arquitectura victoriana en la misma calle.

There was egg shell in the fried egg, got a chicken wrap that was completely cold, got about 4 chips in a portion. food is rubbish. I would not recommend eating here at all, obviously a lack of care from the staff in the kitchen.

Situated in a lovely old building all the family enjoyed our breakfast and later dinner on Saturday. The online phone ordering was really good and service was very quick. We will be back next time we visit.

Wow, absolutely stunning Wetherspoons. The building is massive with seating on 2 floors and has been very sympathetically restored to make a very comfortable place to come for a drink or something to eat. Lots of nooks so you can tuck yourself away if you don't fancy the large main area and outside seating too. And it's what you expect from Wetherspoons. Whether you use the app or order at the bar the staff are friendly and efficient, the prices are low and the food simple but tasty and quickly delivered.

This is our go to place for breakfast. The ambience of the inside is beautiful. Drinks are cheap. Lovely atmosphere and the only downfall I would say like every weatherspoon the toilets are a mile away great for exercise after having a big meal 🤣🤣

2 of us went in for dinner after a 3hour journey and a visit to the hospital and ordered 1 x medium steak and 1 x beef lasagne. The lasagne was cold and rubbery and the steak had blood running and could not be chewed. They took it back and gave us another but terrible as well. We have 2 weatherspoons in our little town and we eat there all rhe time. We have never had a meal like this and have been eating there for more than 10 years . A real shame but will not be going back there

It's a very beautiful grade listed building. In typical spoons fashion they have bought an old run down piece of history back to life. Fantastic job. Food was nice and service was decent. Highly recommend

Parada en el Beam para un desayuno tarde a primera hora de un domingo por la mañana. El pub estaba agradablemente desierto y tuvimos la carrera del lugar. Estaba limpio y ordenado, no había desperdicio de comida en la horrible alfombra y el edificio grande e imponente era muy impresionante. El desayuno llegó, servido por el personal amable y nos arropamos. Se habían pedido dos desayunos tradicionales y un plato de tostadas y estaba muy bien cocinado, hacía calor y nos arropamos con hambre. Disfrutamos de nuestra visita y sin duda volveremos en un futuro próximo.

Tables were filthy and we were served cherry coke instead of diet coke on 2 occasions

A beautiful space with cheap, tasty and a great variety of food. As a foreigner (hate me for this... but here you go...) but we sat for a long time waiting to be served. When I finally flagged someone down, they told me to use the URL Code of the table, which got me nowhere. Tourists noticing me struggling showed me where to get the actual code. I finally managed to put in my order, but to pay I had to use a verification that required me paying extra for my Canadian data plan. So we went to the bar to order. We waited and the food never came. We found out it was left under a heat lamp for 45 minutes from the lovely staff person who sorted things out for us. So - loved the space and food (once received), but not the managements ideal of "service".

Popped in here a few times now and it's typical JS Weather spoons,building is lovely,tea and coffee cheap but plentiful,breakfasts are legendary,staff courteous and place clean and tidy,spot on!!

You know what you're getting when you visit a Wetherspoons. The only negative I have about this place is the signs for the loos. There are sadly lacking and it's very annoying if you're unfamiliar with the place and you can't see any staff. Took me ages to find them. Not just me either because a lad walked in and declared what a mission it was for HIM to find them too. Other than that, it's pretty standard spoons really.

Grear venue, planty of space for our family of 14!

Phoned to clarify blue badge parking and wheelchair access. They said it was easy access. They didn't say the building was not directly accessible from the carpark. You have to leave the car park and walk on the pavement around to the front of the building. Our group included one in a wheelchair and one recovering from a minor stroke. Not the best!! Staff said there was a door to the carpark BUT it was always locked and they didn't know how to open it......????!!!!!! Main bar area only had high tables and chairs so we were limited to a smaller darker area near the door unable to appreciate the beauty of the building......which was the reason we decided to visit. Reviews were raving about it. Food was very basic and small portions. 1st visit to a Weatherspoons and a bit disappointed. Table was sticky, asked to clean it but still sticky afterwards?? Best thing was it was very quiet (lunch time). Spacious and not rushed. Coffee was good tho and we are fussy about coffee. Free refills. Now we know what to expect we might return but not anytime soon.

Another excellent spoons Cod and chips is always amazing. Also the building is well worth the visit.

Student pubs have gone upmarket since my day. Stopped off at Wetherspoons for breakfast after a stopover to watch the cricket. Food and drink arrived within minutes and was hot. A nice conversion of an historic building
