Waited over an hour for fish and chips..lukewarm and quite greasy..most of it went in the bin..very disappointed 😞

Not sure why this place is so busy all the time, one of worst chippies in Edinburgh. Chippy food drips of grease from here. Keep giving chances but just terrible. Got chip roll, it was dry no butter on the roll. Surprisingly the chips weren't greasy but the were just as dry as the roll. It's not hard to cook good food.

Got a meal on Saturday Calazone and 2 chips was the smallest calazone I’ve seen in my life 15 pounds for it as well! Small calazone and 2 chips 27 pounds. Definitely won’t be returning

The saddest most pathetic fish & chips all time in my approx. 50 years of having them about once a year whether in the US or elsewhere. A total rip off-nothing was crisp, everything was limp. I went to Red Lobster F&C a few days later in Liverpool on my vacay & it was like night & day-lower price & large portion for the same order. Frankly, I don't know how anyone could eat this more than once, it was that bad.

I went 2 days ago for fish and ships to take away, the service was fast and good, the size of the fish was big and lot ships. For one order was £12.

Staying in an Airbnb down the road jyst for the one night. Exhausted after driving in the rain. Popped in here for a mixed kebab and fish supper. Delicious. This place does something for everyone. Fish, kebab, burger, pizza, pasta, jacket potato. Immaculately clean, friendly, well timed. Absolutely beyond delicious. Thank you.

I was craving kebab, I have tried couple around, but never from these place. I wanted chicken wrap, but after service suggestion I have went for mixed wrap £15(lamb, shish and chicken). It was huge(pic). I have anihilated it within couple minutes. Dont know what kind of sauce it was(normalny its garlick, Spicy or mixed) but really completed the dish. Lovely service and clean place. I will come back 😊

Food order was not right! Phoned to get my order sorted and I was told that I was wrong! After an argument on the phone I was told that they would fix the order but I had to pick it up after I had paid for delivery! I got back to the shop and was then told that I was right after showing photos of the ridiculously small calzone I had just paid £13 for!! Apparently they are too busy to deliver it again even though they already had the delivery fee and I only stay 2 min away from the chippy! Not impressed! The guy on the phone needs to learn how to actually LISTEN to what people are saying! 😡😡 £50 for a delivery and when it’s wrong it’s your fault and you have to go to them for them to fix THEIR mistakes! My hand shouldn’t be able to cover a full £13 calzone!!

Very rude man on the phone at around 7 pm 23 November 2023. I asked if it was coming and in a very rude way he said that most deliveries take an hour. The way he said it was very rude and disrespectful.

Food is always freshly prepared. Variety on display. The only setback is that it's more of a takeaway service as there's little place for customers to sit

We just had a pepperoni pizza and doner kebab between 2. It was amazing! The pizza crust/base was so tasty and the salad very fresh - best takeaway in ages!

A couple of days ago I bought a fish supper, thought it smelled stronger and fishier than it should but it tasted OK-ish. It wasn't proper fresh and the batter and chips were cold and soggy. The following day I came down with severe food poisoning that lasted hours. Another time with a different order, I found staples in the batter of the fish! Suffice to say, I won't ever be buying from the Gold Sea again.

Been coming here for 9 years. You will not find a better fresher thicker! Piece of fish in Edinburgh. Stuart … the fryer here for 20 years cooks them to perfection. Regardless of how busy he is hes always smiling. The girls are amazing too. The food across the board is amazing but it’s fish and chips all day long for me from this place. My brother comes from glasgow to eat from this place.

Never once is price the same it’s always different and when u call it’s different from menu online

Ordered a doner wrap and chips. Chips were meant to be large but lucky if they were a medium portion and dry because of hardly any sauce. Wrap was well undercooked and very pale with hardly any sauce in it, plus it was at best lukewarm despite the fact we live about 300metres from the takeaway. Prices have shot up too with a shocking £2.50 delivery charge. Overall not great food and not value for money.

I'm actually rajin what a waste of money usually the goldsea is decent and lovely food order a few nights a week however tonight it was rotten I wasted £53 pizza was rotten really rotten soggy not cooked proper and far too much sauce the donner meat on it was cold hard stale not fresh at all even though I said pizza crispy with freshly chopped donner meat it was far from fresh! Usually there carbonana is one of the best tonight it was inedible and no flavour at all pasta was still too hard too that bad I sent it back! They forgot my spring rolls even though they phoned me like 3 times about my spring rolls had to get them sent out after I phoned. The scampi was soggy and not great salad was poor chicken pakoras where small and I now have the most worst headache since eating from here and no great aw and too top it all when my spring rolls finally arrived they where soggy and unbelievably stuck to the paper so completely all ripped when trying to separate from the paper if I diddnt have a terrible headache I'd be phoning back AGAIN to complain dunno what the actual cause the goldsea on like a Tuesday or Wednesday is 👍👌sort your staff out they are getting you a bad name foods rotten man

Just been to gold sea Ferry Road for stake pie supper £6 for a supper which was freezing cold which I think is totally ridiculous will never be back For something that has cost them about £150 to make Would have not minded if was hot but cold And for what I see in there reviews I want be back don’t waste your money

(0 Stars) Decided to ignore the fact the 90% of the reviews are awful and tried this place out last week had one of the driest fish I’ve ever ate and my chips where missing, partner told me not to bother ordering again and I said nahh they are local will try again , 1.5 hrs passed on a Thursday called up to see what’s going on because it was well overdue and got two rude people ,one of the phone and one in the background telling me I lied and only ordered 5 mins ago and my receipt is wrong I then continued to wait a further hour for them to close shop , not accept my call and not accept a call from uber eats directly …. Don’t do what I did! read the reviews they speak volumes will never be ordering again worst chippy food and service Ive yet to receive in Scotland

Went in last night and the owner or boss was just downright rude and angry in front of customers and to me. Been using this place for years but last night will be my last. Not the only chippy in Leith.

Just been in this takeaway, bought a hamburger supper @ £5.30, and also a 500ml bottle of water £7.30, they charged me £2 for this bottle, i thought was steep, but my fault for not checking price, just told my neighbour who said the buy the 1.5 litre bottle from there and its not £2, just checked the web site and my neighbour is right, £1.70 for 1.5l bottle and £1 for 500ml, so anyone else going here be sure they don't rip you off on your order!

The food was so gross I’m still trying to puke it out - not fresh - no standard - terrible.

Tonight was the second time in so many months that I paid £6.50 for a small, dried out, haddock fillet that even my cat wouldn’t eat. I’ve used this chip shop for about 30 years but it has sadly deteriorated recently and I won’t be going back.

Terrible chippy. Food average staff rude, aggressive and obnoxious. PDQ refuses contactless payments. Either bank look on them as an unsuitable retailer or their machine is not connected properly. Member of staff shouted about how food should be carried even though I had already paid for goods. Too many other chippies in Edinburgh to put up with type of customer service. Would advise against delivery as last time needed to complain about comments made by delivery driver. I WOULD ADVISE ANYONE TO USE ANOTHER CHIPSHOP UNLESS THEY LIKE BEING SPOKEN TO BY STAFF IN THE WAY THE STAFF IN THIS CHIPSHOP SPEAK TO CUSTOMERS. A TOTAL DISGRACE. Chips are lovely but I had the chicken burger, it was mainly overcooked batter that I couldn't actually chew. Barely any chicken and what was there was really dry. Ended up just making a chip buddy and removing the chicken through fear of breaking a tooth or getting food poisoning! I have had other meals from here before and they have been fine, just avoid the chicken burger at all costs.

I have ordered food from here loads of times and never had a complaint about anything but yesterday i had a single fish from here and it was the worst I have ever tasted. The batter was chewy and the haddock was dry. It was obviously a reheated fish from the day before. 🤢🤮😡

I am a regular customer, but tonight my chicken wrap was smashed up when I took it out the foil so must've happened in the shop because the white wrapper wasn't damaged, as a result it all crumbled also it had sauce on it when I always say no sauce result; the arse fell oot it and now I am going to have to hoover the wrap up, and it was 10 minutes late. What happened tonight gold sea? I paid £7.50 for a mess, it's just not good enough.

I order food from here regularly. The food is great and the staff have always seemed friendly in the past. However the last time I went in I asked if I could have a refill of tap water- I was told "No, because we sell it in bottles." I thought this was unacceptable. Pay a ridiculous price for something that comes free out the tap?! And contribute further to the plastic problem? Perhaps this instance doesn't warrant a one star review, but I was quite taken aback that establishments could refuse to give water, and I think it sets a really poor example. I won't be ordering again until they change their policy.

Just ordered a special fish . Fish was well over cooked disgusting waste of money and hardly any chips . The fish was extremely dry not as fresh as it should have been.

if I could give 0 stars I would, the staff have disgusting attitudes, especially the condacending moron taking my order, delivery took over an hour, food was cold, the cheese wasn’t even melted. When the food got delivered they had made the wrong pizza, phoned back up and was told they would make the one I ordered the 1st time next time I order, they where told no, and said another one would be sent out and that took just as long. Very disapointed, there are a lot of great chip shops around this area so save your money and palett standards and look else where. They should be paying the public, not charging them.
