We’ve just left the Glen-Yr-Afon after a wonderful Afternoon Tea for our Mum’s 90th birthday. What a stunning afternoon, in stunning surroundings, with the best afternoon tea in Monmouthshire. We’ve been to all of the ‘usual’ venues but the Glen-Yr_Afon surpassed them all, by a long way! Everyone had their own individual cake stand, full of sandwiches and cakes aplenty, served by the lovely and welcoming team. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a cosy afternoon tea or celebrating a special occasion. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you. It was wonderful !!

Absolutely beautiful hotel and wonderful service for our mums 90th birthday afternoon tea. The sandwiches and cakes were splendid and the lounge had a roaring fire which added to the ambience. Champagne was served by the wonderful hospitality of all who looked after us so well. Thank you so so much from all of us Highly recommend Darcey Butler with the Collins and Porter family.

Absolute gem! Sadly we only stayed for 1 night. Staff were fantastic, can't praise them enough! Lovely gardens. It's a 10min walk into Usk. If you're looking for a nice peacful break, this should definitely be considered!

I wish I could give them a better rating as the people are very friendly and the restaurant is Ok. However this place needs a major renovation. The couch in the room must be more than 30 years old. Look at the picture how it has many holes in the cover. The carpet in the room is dirty. The windows need to be cleaned. The outside of the hotel needs to be cleaned and painted. The shower in the bath tub is narrow and not easy to catch water etc. Cannot recommend

They worked incredibly hard to make a major birthday lunch go well, adjusting to numbers and layouts at the last moment. Credit to them.

What a welcome! Called ahead last minute to see if still serving food(2:30pm) was advised by the lovely Kelly(owns it so we found out) that food was always on and the weather was out and sunny and looking forward to seeing us!!! Arrived and as usual stunning and manicured lawns and paddock for the puppa. Fish and chips was superb and the homemade chicken and leaki pie with gravy was outstanding! Jess served us who was amazing and friendly and even Frank(puppa) didn’t bark at her and wagged his tail and wanted to play. Fantastic experience and food sublime! Best part was the warm and friendly welcome from Kelly over the phone and Jess ! Highly recommend and will be back more often we promise! The garden with patio area and night lights on trees (fairies in jars on tree too) add to the evening experience. Well done to all and chefs keep up the great food .5*

Brilliant meal at Fantastico last night(30/04/24) The Gamberi prawn starter was lovely with really fresh prawns. Primavera risotto was delicious and Tagliatelle Carnacina was Excellent. Great dessert’s accompanied by a great dessert wine.

The location of Panevino was perfect for us so close to Chepstow Castle which we were there to visit. The fact it was an Italian restaurant we thought was a bonus having recently lived in Italy. The restaurant layout and choice of seats was great as were the staff, couldn't fault them. One of us had pizza which was nice but the pasta was poor, the chicken tough and the calamari was like rubber. A pity really I don't know how they could get it all so wrong.

Was really looking forward to this meal but left disappointed. Felt rushed from the time we arrived, booked early evening 5.30 to avoid busier times, only 1 other couple there when we arrived, so can’t see what the hurry was. Given menus and asked to order almost immediately, had to ask for drinks so we could at least read the menu, still ended up ordering in haste so didn’t order sides and went with a complete dish to avoid further pondering. Once the meal was served the service disappeared completely! The meal itself was flavourful but the prawn starter in a crust still had shell underneath, which wasn’t pleasant. Would have ordered dessert and more drinks but the wait for service was so long we just asked for the bill which still took an eternity. Service poor, napkins taken away had to ask for some. The restaurant did get busier so understand the staff were under pressure with a restaurant and takeaway operating. Atmosphere was pretty flat, some low music may have drowned out the constantly ringing phone and alarms. The restaurant itself was in need of a good cleaning and decorating but the tableware was spotless. Probably wouldn’t return sadly ☹️
