The Misbah Tandoori in Monmouthshire

First time at this Indian Restaurant. Enjoyed the meal, staff friendly and lovely atmosphere in the restaurant. Would definitely come back.

Absolutely gorgeous curry at Misbah. The location is ideal as you can park outside. The inside is really cozy and the staff are polite. Immaculately presented. I had the nicest curry here and will definitely be returning 😋 best curry in Monmouth by far.

We had a wonderful meal here. We were in Monmouth for the weekend celebrating my friend’s birthday and hadn’t booked anywhere but after reading some reviews decided to try The Misbah. Despite not having a reservation the staff were very helpful and were able to seat all 4 of us. The service was excellent and very attentive. The food was extremely tasty, with all of us saying how much we enjoyed our meals. Would definitely eat here again if we were in the area

Fantastic food, great service - there’s a good reason why they’ve been in Monmouth nearly 35 years!

Visited about 5 years ago and the food was excellent. We visited last month but unfortunately my Goan fish curry was awful. My husband’s was fine , he said but I had just what seemed to be stringy bits that looked like fish skin. Don’t know why, I didn’t like to complain there and then because the service was good. It’s a shame because we had the same curry the first time and it was lovely, it just seemed as if the scrap ends of the fish were thrown in.

Excellent food, great value too

This was our first visit to this restaurant and we were very pleased. The staff were all very lovely and helpful and the food was delicious. A very sweet little restaurant.

We have just eaten a superb meal at this restaurant. The food was excellent, very aromatic with a very good mix of spices. As we were eating early on a Sunday evening it was quiet but the decor is lovely. Would certainly recommend and I’m sure we will visit again.

Always good service and great food

The restaurant was full and busy giving a good atmosphere. Due to it being full the service was a bit slow but the staff are friendly. My wife had chewy chicken dansak, the best tarka dall she has had for a while. I had chicken xacuti which I meant to have complex rich flavours. The first bite of chicken was nothing but excruciating heat. The dish tasted like a very hot jalfrazi, with no flavor just burning heat. My lips burnt with chilli. My favorite dish is xacuti which I have at every opportunity. This is not xacuti. Hence the 3 star.

Outstanding food and service. The chutneys with the pappadoms were the tastiest I’ve ever had; the onion bhaji was light, fresh and perfectly seasoned; both chicken dishes cooked to perfection and delicately flavoured.

Delicious food. I am not familiar with Indian food. Over the week, we tried chicken tikka, chicken tandouri, lemon chicken, and their chutney starter. So yummy! The owner offered suggestions, we took them, and we’re so glad we did!

I was struggling to find nice food in this town. I found this great restaurant. There is very nice chicken and lamb options. Great service and good price.

Throughout the whole of Wales the food really hasn’t been up to scratch, and I was on the cusp of throwing in the towel. Luckily I stumbled across this gem of a cuisine and my tune has been well and truly changed. I salute the efforts of the waiting staff and would recommend to anyone and everyone to come and have a gander at this eatery.

As a fellow Indian this was some of the best curry ever. 10/10 would recommend to friends back in motherland.

Great food, fantastic service and although we went for an early dinner as we have 2 young children, they were extremely accommodating and made a nice atmosphere for us.

We were planning to go elsewhere to eat when we spotted the Misbah Tandoori, which appealed to my husband as they serve fish curries. The place was almost full on a Thursday evening which was a good sign. The food was very tasty, the lamb in my curry was very tender. Portions were ample but not huge, and the food was not too greasy. Sadly there was no Prosecco but we drank the house white wine instead. Service was polite and friendly.

Wow! So tasty. One of the best Indian meals I've had. Welsh/Indian beer, Roar, is really nice.

The Misbah has been the family favourite restaurant in Monmouth for many years, so on a return to the UK we had an opportunity to see for ourselves how good it is. I have to say I could understand the excitement, the food and service was excellent.

Misbah is excellent. We've been visiting for over 20 years. It is sad to see the town of Monmouth looking so down at heal and neglecting it's small businesses who work so hard for their customers. The local council needs to get its act together.

Beautiful food, perfect service, reasonable price. Best onion bhajis I've had in a while. Clearly made in house and by someone who knows what they're doing. The special biryani was definitely worth a special mention and both of our main dishes were full of meat and flavour. Naan was exceptional. I hate it when they are thin and hard. Wife loved the saga aloo too. Food here is much less greasy than most other Indian restaurants, which we love. Staff are attentive and friendly, but not constantly in your face. All in all a really great meal... again.

A nice little restaurant tucked away on a little street in Monmouth that over looks the river on the opposite side of the road. Both the staff and food were as equally amazing, with quick & friendly service. The menu contained a reasonably priced selection of colourful classics and new tastes to try out. The total meal for myself, partner and four year old came to £60 with poppadoms, naans and starters falling under this price. All of the dishes were very good portion size and served in good enough flow for you to let the starters go down before starting the mains. The atmosphere was peacefully quiet with no loud music or background noise drowning out other people at your table. This well kept, clean restaurant is definitely deserving of the five stars I'm giving it and we will definitely be returning as soon as we can.

Whilst on holiday in Monmouth, myself and my wife decided to eat at The Misbah. The restaurant was spotless, the service was second to none and the food was exceptional. If you like Indian food then you must eat here!
