The Glassworks Pub in Cardiff

Had a beautiful Prosecco lunch here (again)food was great , service was great especially Katie who went above and beyond when I asked for extra sauces,her patience with me was exceptional,thank you very much guys and gals hopefully be back soon ,for city centre prices this place is more than value for money!!

Service was excellent. Nothing too much trouble. We had the small plates to share and then lemon tart to finish. It all tasted amazing. Highly recommend the glassworks and will definitely be herd again next time I'm back in Cardiff.

Popped in with a friend for mif afternoon eats. Well what can I say, probably the best lunch I've had in a long while. Opted for the small plates menu, voices of Karaage Sticky Chicken, Harissa Houmous & Flatbread, Battered Halloumi, Crispy Smashed Potatoes and Pulled Beef Croquettes. We then followed with the Lemon Tart. The staff are super friendly, and nothing is too much trouble. Definitely will be back.

All you have to know about Glassworks, is that they made me the most delicious bacon, chicken & tomato sandwich I've ever laid lips on! The highlight...fresh, hot, homemade gluten free bread!

Always a great place to visit whether a quick pint or a longer stay. Heart of the city great ambience. Food always quality superb. Best Peroni in town. Service and staff fantastic. In town, call in.

Very limited selection of cask ales, which was a disappointment. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Came in on a quiet day, atmosphere was very relaxed, with music playing at an acceptable volume.

I was going out for drinks with my Mum and Dad. The service was superb and the drinks and condition of the place remarkable.

Good pub! Nice friendly staff, very accommodating and hard working! Enjoyed a katsu chicken burger and few beers and the team always kept an eye out and made sure I was looked after: even sorting the TVs so I can watch my match. Thank you 🙏

Google maps said they are dog friendly, they are not. Got turned away very quickly

An even worse hope, I waited 45 minutes and didn't drink, much less eat, even though the place was completely empty. I should have paid attention to this, 30 minutes after I entered they asked me to wait 5 minutes to take the order when I arrived at 45 I left the staff was quiet talking in the bar, surely these are places that only work for matches (so why do they open them up on days without?

Great pub to visit in the centre of Cardiff - very spacious and plenty of seating available inside, although I did go on Thursday evening, so not sure how busy it would be on a weekend. Ordered the steak and ale pie which was lovely and full of flavour. A little bit pricey but worth it I'd say.

A decent city centre pub with a great atmosphere with attentive staff. Plenty of TV's for watching sport and a good selection of beers, wines and spirits.

Great Service and delicious food. Nice and friendly bar staff, the steak and fish and chips very nice. The music was a little bit loud but other than that perfect and would recommend.

Staff are amazing, love coming here but I would say the toilets are terrible. You can smell them before you get there, every time

Came with family, the bar staff were amazing and very kind! Lots of different drinks to choose from. Will definitely be coming back

Amazing atmosphere during the six nations, didn't get any food but for a busy bar the service was great.

Had a great time with family watching six nations - big screens and quick service and great drink selection. It’s our second time watching a match there and would definitely go back again.

Lots of choice of quality beers! Delicious and hearty snacks! especially like the burger, the sauce is tasty! we come often with friends, everything is always cool.

Met up with some work friends early evening on Friday 31st, rugby was on a bit later so it was busy but they have plenty of staff working so you’re served quickly by really friendly staff. Great selection of drinks. We ended up having food too and it was so good. They had all day breakfasts on the managers specials, I had the veggie version and it was excellent! Exactly what I needed after a couple of three pints or so. Hot, fresh food with perfectly cooked eggs. Everyone really enjoyed everything ordered. Well done.

Did not stay We left because there was not a very nice smell inside the back area where we went to sit down. The place was empty at lunch time as well, not a good sign either.

2000 miles driven on the rental car all over the UK. I probably ate fish and chips at least once a day. This place was the best I had. Job well done!

Nice pub venue in the centre of Cardiff. Short staffed but the guy behind the bar was very helpful and friendly. The food was pub food but pretty decent. The steak was small and didn't look great but tasted ok. 4* given when considering venue and food compared to other chain pubs.

Was on a date night pre-Chtistmas and we popped in before last train home for one last drink and some sweet potato fries. We got a window seat and had a really lively hour or so sitting and chatting. It was busy, a little loud, but exactly what I expected of a Friday night. And we saw Welsh comedian Mike Bubbins (looking sharp, Mike!) enjoying a beer with his mates. Always liked this pub, and if I were 20 (ish) years younger, I could have rolled round the corner to hit Metros for a banging Indie night (if they're still open).

Nice food great cocktails would recommend

We had a lovely pre-gig pub lunch here, meeting extended family in December 2024. There was a great varied menu with lots of choices at good affordable prices and we were lucky to grab a table as people were leaving, but I’d recommend making a booking as we went past the prior evening and it was still bustling with business. Despite the roaring trade, service was quick and arrived promptly. It was a decent portion size and tasty. I’d definitely choose this again for an affordable eat close to the Utilita Arena.

Came for my daughter's birthday, booked a table for 4 but it wasn't ready when we turned up 15 mins early. Food took over 50 mins to turn up even though lots of other tables got theirs At the end it didn't even take the deposit off the final bill.. Sad to say I wouldn't recommend this pub again.

Fantastic afternoon in the Glassworks yesterday. Leon and his team can’t do enough to make you comfortable, even on an extremely busy day. The fish and chips was beautiful, and the Guinness spot on. Multiple TVs showing all the sport. Can’t fault the place!

Never had a bad experience here, staff, food, drink and atmosphere always top notch and they allow roll necks with dogtooth blazers 👍

TL;DR: meh. We ordered a burger (cheeseburger most likely), Sunday roast (beef), two mocktails. Mocktails - why are you filling them with ice? There is no bloody alcohol in it.. and for proper cocktail prices as well. scammed. To be fair I had worse roasts, so I'm not going to complain over it - at most it's average. Cheeseburger was not worth it. Pints are expensive as well, go to Pen&Wig for these prices, at least you'll see some variety. Probably a good place to watch sports, but when the crowd walks in after the game they just amp up the music & it's impossible to hear yourself talk

What a pleasant surprise. We thoroughly enjoyed the meals we had in a group of 4. The fish and chips were well prepared, fresh and delicious. The humous was really tasty and well presented. The staff very friendly and professional. Please support this pub/restaurant. (In our short stay in Cardiff, we visited Glassworks 3 times. So I have had to review the above to excellent and outstanding). The service is excellent. The food amazing. Thank you

The bar staff were really friendly. Served practically straight away and I had booked a table so was shown where to go. The food was fresh and hot, the waitress was lovely. A really good experience.

After a recent visit on a surprise few days away we visited this establishment. The food was absolutely fantastic. 💯 recommend this place

Great place to have a quick bite to eat. Nachos were very delicious. Staff were very friendly Definitely need to book in advance for a table.

Sunday roast is to die for and an excellent price, just don't go when there's a match on it can get very loud would recommend about 11am on a Sunday based on when I've been. Perfect food will always get my roasts here and staff are always so lovely

We stayed in the Sandringham hotel and so this was our local for the few days. The staff are super friendly and efficient. We had a snack of calamari with very well kept beers. Excellent. We had the cheesy potato dish which ok. The potatoes were a little stale tasting maybe because it was the end of the days service . Will defo go back for the beer. There was a quiz night but we had theatre booked on this occasion.

Excellent food and atmosphere. The decor is great and staff are very friendly. The bar is quite clean and well kept. The Katsu burger was delicious, as was the Sunday roast. Excellent gravy!

Great atmosphere. Lovely seating area towards the back of this eatery. Warm friendly helpful colleagues. Nothing was ever too much trouble. Our food came along swiftly and was delicious. I had the steak and ale pie. Great tasting melt in the mouth pastry. Proper chips and fabulous onion gravy. What’s not to like? If you’re looking for good value food and drink don’t hesitate to give these guys a well deserved shot

Too busy, too loud, too cramped, food ok, food price point fine, staff fine, we went there blind so didn't know what to expect just didn't suit us. To glassworks, you have asked me to revise my review, becareful what you ask for it could go the wrong way. We are huge rugby fans and we were aware of fixtures for the day, my review was on my visit and you have had my opinion, sadly I can't compare it to let's say a 4pm midweek booking. Regards Deb

Very nice place. Busy. Good service and food

I happened to pass by and decided to go in to check it out. What a pleasant surprise! On my first weekend here in the United Kingdom (and also in Cardiff), I really wanted to try the classic Fish and Chips and have a Guinness. I believe I chose a classic place to try the classics! Everything was wonderful. I was a bit lost until I understood that orders were made and paid directly through the app, but soon everything was sorted out. The fish came super crispy and the sauce was sensational. For a first experience, it was truly memorable. I will return many more times during my stay in Cardiff.

What an absolute gem, great atmosphere, friendly staff and excellent food. I was with a group of 7 friends, which included 1 vegetarian, 1 pescatarian and a celiac. Plenty of choices for everyone. I ordered the small plates, absolutely delicious, every one of us enjoyed the food, no complaints at all. The cocktails were also really good I will definitely be returning

Predominantly a sports bar but the food and service was good. Prices are fair too.

I love this place for a quiet drink. It's never too busy, the atmosphere is homely and the food is really good. The staff are friendly and they have a good selection of drinks. I love the aesthetic but it does suffer from 'weatherspoons toilet' syndrome where the toilets are down a flight of stairs in the basement. They have wide-screens to catch whatever game is on. Its just off the main street and round the corner from Metros so great for pre-drink warmups. Chippy Lane is just two lanes up and the train station is a short walk away. Great for a chill hangout or a sit-down meal.

In Cardiff on vacation from the states. The draft beer was ice cold and perfectly poured! The fish and chips were wonderful, cooked just right. Would recommend Glassworks to anyone looking for a good pub in Cardiff Central.

To be honest, we went here as it was the nearest place to park to the bank. Still it was a happy accident, nice coffee, friendly welcoming staff and an all round positive vibe even though it was early in the day

3 of us headed to Cardiff for the day and looked on line for recommended pubs near a certain place where we meeting a friend. We chose this one and glad we did! Bar staff excellent - plenty on serving on a busy sunny Saturday afternoon! Food looked great although we'd had lunch out. I'd def recommend here to anyone (like us!) a bit unfamiliar with the area. For a busy Saturday your staff did a damn fine job and we prefer this type of pub to the loud party bangin' ones in the main area!

Fantastic all round. Fantastic food. My Wife had the Steak and Ale pie and I the Flat Iron Steak. All cooked deliciously. Service from the Staff was out of this world. We have now found a gem right in the City Centre. Definitely recommended.

Great pub/bar in the centre of Cardiff. Wide range of quality beers on tap, but the real hidden gem here is the food which is of very high quality. Katsu burger is sensational. A couple more bar staff is needed, however still a great place to go in the centre of Cardiff

im such a fussy eater and couldnt decide what i wanted and after stumbling on this place when walking, it was the right choice, the place is very clean, and loved there was sports on the tv, i had the small plates (chicken, battered halloumi & houmous) it was really good and filling the battered halloumi was my favourite it came with chilli jam, the hubby had the flat iron steak cooked through he said it was really good aswell . so both our food was nice, i ordered via the app the drinks arrived quickly after and then the food after that. the toilets were very clean aswell. after dinner we stayed for drinks. the guy ( from the lake district ) came around asking if everything was okay and if we needed anything (a couple times ) which is really nice , you can tell he cares about his customers, he is so lovely we got talking to him when ordering drinks and he made the whole experince of being there so much better. he was super friendly and very chatty. would visit again if he was still there when we come back. from the 2 scottish people

Forgot to take photos of the food but omg absolutely delicious 🤤! I had the chicken Katsu burger and it was fabulous! The staff was absolutely phenomenal and really made our holiday wonderful!
