What a fantastic pub it’s caters for everything 2 top pool tables, 2 dart boards both TNT and sky sports showing all sports. Ifs dog friendly and the staff and managers go above and beyond. Would highly recommend this venue.

On a lads and dad’s weekend watching the 6 nations, came to watch the remaining matches of the day. Plenty of room to get a good view of a screen. This place had a fantastic atmosphere, the hosts couldn’t do enough for us really. Good pool and darts area, and good selection of drinks at a good price.

I had an amazing night - it was a great atmosphere and everyone was so friendly. I would definitely recommend this pub for anyone that wants a great night out!

The blackweir tavern has a lovley family atmosphere, an amazing selection of drinks and activities to do whilst here including pool darts and chess. It’s a lovley local pub and will definitely be coming back.

A few beers before the Wales V England game on the 5th August. Good selection and a really good atmosphere. Will use again, pub is easily within walking distance to the stadium.

This pub is special it has decent parking which is rare in Cardiff. Lots of sport on TV’s and really good pool tables that are kept in great condition. Great prices on drinks , friendly staff and the food was great value. Whenever we are in Cardiff we go there it’s a favourite.

Fantastic pint of carlsberg the best I've had for a long time, didn't sample the food but the service was quick & friendly. The place was fairly lively & had a decent pool table, would recommend this place.

Not usually one for leaving reviews but Richard & Ceri-Ann, Landlords of the Blackweir Tavern went above and beyond to provide my daughter with an 18th Birthday Party that none of us will forget and we genuinely cannot thank them both enough. As any parent will know, planning for your daughter’s 18th Birthday party is not an easy task but with our daughter also having Learning Difficulties it was essential that we could provide her and her friends with the type of party that she wanted, but also in a safe environment. After talking with Richard & Ceri Ann about how we would like the evening to go they were more than happy take care of everything and reassured us that the party was being left in safe, capable hands. So as the title states ‘WOW!!!’ From transforming your pub, to supplying and preparing the food, we do not know how you managed it, but thanks again to both of you and all the staff who made the night a very special one.

Popped in here for a quick pit stop one sunny afternoon. I will never return not because it was expensive or the atmosphere was rubbish it was relatively cheap and the atmosphere was nice but the cups were stinking both mine and my partners cups had sticky lip mark residues on the cups before we'd even taken a drink

Generous portions, really well cooked and the peri peri wings were spot on! Will definitely be visiting more often and need to try the Sunday lunch, looks delicious! The Blackwier Tavern is a cosy pub with friendly owners. We are always warmly greeted with a smile when we walk in. I have to recommend the Sunday roast, for the cheap price of £9.95 you can get two meats with all the trimmings you can imagine. They offer a wide range of drinks at cheap prices. The new owners have successfully revived a once derelict establishment, they are charming and sweet and always offer a listening ear. They are the epitome of welcoming and always ensure a happy visit, especially with my young family of four. I could not recommend this pub more for every occasion. 5 stars

Good local pub with a family vibe to it. The owners frequently have their kids around which adds to the family owned aesthetic of the pub. Good specials for 3 ciders or beers for £7. The pub has most of the football games on and has fun activities such as darts, pool, ping pong and on Fridays karaoke. The food is also good with good portions despite being on the more pricier end of things. Never too full. Definitely worth a visit. Usually gets busy on Wednesday nights as the Cardiff Uni hockey team comes for the socials.

Blackweir Tavern is a classic British pub; decent prices, same regular faces, a disinterested crowd either playing pub quiz, or as in our case, singing karaoke, and a friendly land lady. An essential element of the Cardiff student experience.

I have not been to this pub, I would have liked to, however after 8 straight phone calls at various times of the day they simply didnt pickup, this was to book a table as S A Brain "Book a Table" did NOT list this pub, thus couldn't book.

Terrible service and food. My partner and I came to this pub on Sunday afternoon for their £10 for 2 courses (for this price we didnt expect much, however, we had expected more than below average.) Ordered around 1:30- we were advised the food wait would be 30 minutes.. we were absolutely fine with that FIFTY MINUTES LATER i asked the waiter how long our food would be as we had places to be.. when he came back he advised "not much longer, the chef has lots of tickets" is not really a timeframe, and advising how many tickets he had in a half empty bar is not an excuse. A time frame was all that was needed. I mean, we dont mind waiting but actually be honest about the wait time. AN HOUR and a bit later we get our food- roast beef- hands down the worst roast I have eaten, in my life, however, we mauled it down anyway as we were so hungry.. after waiting so long. We then thought we had been there long enough so we may as well stay for the dessert (rookie mistake) after waiting 20 minutes again i thought i better see where our dessert was, so i went up to the bar .. the response was "oh yes, i'll let the kitchen know".. so we had been waiting 20 minutes for absolutely no reason. 100% would not recommend.

Un saludo muy cálido de la comida de Adam fue genial, un ambiente agradable y relajado trajo un tazón de agua y golosinas para los perros sin que ni siquiera lo pidamos. Sin duda volveremos de nuevo. We called here on a Friday evening about 17.15 we had a couple of drinks and some loaded nachos and would have stayed longer but somebody came in with 2 big dogs now I like dogs but not when the smell is so strong that it puts you off having food, I know it's not the pubs fault and I think he was a regular customer so he probably spends more than we did but if we thought dogs would be there again we would not go which is a shame as the food is quite good and reasonably priced.

Called in for a quick bite whilst dropping daughter back to university.

We took our son back to Cardiff today and like always we called into the tavern for our meal, the tavern had been busy today and sold out off a lot off the menu but the rump steak I had was done prefect and it was a thick piece so doesn't also get cooked the way I love it which is medium/well and my husbands was well cooked too.

We had hoped to catch breakfast but missed it by a few minutes. Our disappointment was soon dispelled by Aimee and Alun the chef who took the time to help us with absolutely everything. We chose the ham, egg and chips. The ham was good but Alun's chips were lovely and only surpassed by his superb fried eggs - perfectly served by Aimee who did everything for us from clearing and preparing the table to serving the beer.

We popped in this evening (9/12/19) and were warmly greeted by Liam on arrival. We found a quiet table near the back of the tavern and selected or meals. 1st thing worth noting is that Mondays before 5pm it's 50% off so our meals and 2 pints of Coke zero came to only £13.40 (this included a £2 charge to go large on the scampi)

I received excellent service from Robyn and Charlotte and 3 beautiful pints of Wales' finest ale Brains Smooth.

Robyn and Charlotte were great, Liam and his cargo shorts are iconic. The fact my comrades can now order a pint of the finest smooth without words has made their life. #thankyouliam

Popped into blackwier tavern to have some food the service was very prompt I believe by Aimee ordered sirloin steak medium rare it was cooked and seasoned to perfection asked Aimee to tell chef how nice it was when Aimee returned and said Ed was the chef and said thank you top service top pub well done all

We stopped here for a quick drink on a Sunday afternoon. Very loud sports bar, not my type of thing really but the bar man was very friendly and food looked good. Can imagine its lovely to sit outside when the weather's good.

Just had a lovely "Loaded BBQ Burger" at the Blackweir Tavern. I had a nice walk out in the beautiful Pontcanna Playing Fields this morning and placed right next to this green space is the Blackweir Tavern. Clean, tidy and comfortably furninshed with friendly staff serving great pub food. I found a nice table to myself with access to a charging point so have been able to catch up on some work on my laptop as well. Will definitely be back.

Arrived at 8.50pm on a Saturday night. Tried to order food for 5 people at 8.55pm but were told the kitchen was closed, even though it says food is served till 9pm. Think the chef went home early!

Sound little place, really friendly owner, got a dart board, pool table and table tennis , plays the rugby on the big screen, great all round

This pub/bar has everything you need, has a dart board and table tennis and all live sport shown, recommend to anybody wanting to have a nice meal and a pint as well as watching sport with mates

After a gap of 2 years I returned with 2 friends for a pub lunch - the place was half empty and I placed our food order. After I had paid I was told 30 minute delay. After 25 minutes I enquired and was told it was 45 minute delay and offered a refund. Now very hungry we waited and to be fair the food - when it arrived was perfectly acceptable. Nil atmosphere - two competing TV channels and Pool Cues which challenged the unwary sitting at nearby tables . Staff pleasant but inexperienced - eg did not know Pinot Grigio was a white wine. They do have a car park which is free if you spend £10 otherwise cheaper to take a taxi. It may be 2 years before I try again.

Me and husband came here for a quick lunch and it was great. The staff were all really friendly, the chef came out to double check about a food request we'd made, and the food came out in good time.

Me and 2 friends have travelled over to Cardiff from Ireland for the weekend, and chose the Blackweir for breakfast the first day. Safe to say it was amazing, so we returned the second day for food and to watch the football. The Coors Light on draught has to be one of the nicest I've ever tried. Big shout-out to Adam, what an absolute legend

Love this pub, Bex the manager is awesome!! Love coming here for football and other social events. Although on Wednesdays the place is horrendous and you can’t hear yourself think the hockey players are never told to calm down just a little!

A couple of friends and I popped into here for some lunch, and ordered a sharing portion of Chilli ‘loaded’ nachos. We were shocked to see that it was probably smaller than a normal portion of nachos (equivalent to the side portion). Some of the people who I was with, work within the catering industry and they reassured me that this was certainly not a sharing sized portion.

Stopped in for lunch. Excellent quick service. Food was piping hot and tasty. Very Friendly staff . Lovely big tv screens for sports. Pool table and ping pong table available. Also noticed board games for kids. Dog friendly pub. Lovely Seating area outside. Would definitely recommend
