Blackweir Tavern in Cardiff

Been in here a few times with the brother, lovely bar staff, I think it's more for University Students

Contrary to the reviews, we unfortunately encountered an extremely unfriendly bartender. He refused to make us cocktails (even though they were on the menu) and then processed our beer order incorrectly. We were in Cardiff for 4 days and only visited pubs with a friendly atmosphere. However, this is not one of them. Unfortunately no recommendation!

I had a lovely time at this pub, I was served by Ceri-Anne at the bar and she was absolutely lovely. Made the night out incredible and an asset to the pub, no issues whatsoever and nothing but fantastic service.

This place is amazing I couldn't ask for a better pub. It may not be my local, I live in whitchurch but I choose every week to come here and it never disappoints and because of the land lady ceri Anne Anne and land lord digger

Staff and owners very accommodating. Family run pub, situated in a student area. Kerry, to name a name, is a very good host and always makes me and my friends feel right at home. I couldn't find a pub with better owners and staff, and wouldn't dream of organising events or watching the big games (of any sport) anywhere else.

Came here at lunchtime on Friday with a group of friends and a 10 month old baby. Payed for parking for 2 cars to realise the doors were locked with a note for deliveries saying back in 15 and a number, rang the number to be told the pub was open however she was on an online course. Waited outside for 25 minutes and had to leave with a crying baby.

This is one of the friendliest pub I’ve ever been too. It’so welcoming and cute! A beautiful beer garden especially in the sunshine ☀️ the staff here are amazing and good fun. It’s generally just a nice feel good pub to visit. Highly recommend it x

Stumbled across the Blackweir by chance, what a welcoming and fun establishment. All the staff are really friendly, inviting and fun. We aren't from the local area and everyone welcomed us with open arms ( DJ Harry kept us entertained all night too!) Great place to drink 👍

Really lovely and inviting atmosphere. A great place to go to watch the football and the parking is very affordable. Wonderful staff, very friendly and approachable. Overall, it's a lovely community space.

The blackweir is a Fabulous place I’ve been coming for years. Right next to Bute park great for summer and a few drinkies in the sun.

Amazing pub,fab drink offers and the staff are so friendly and helpful and it's dog friendly,they went out of there way 2 get my dog water and gave him dog treats.

Great atmosphere and staff are lovely. Natalie went above and beyond. Overall clean and very friendly pub. The beer garden is beautiful.

I cannot recommend this place enough. Amazing atmosphere and the best bar staff in Cardiff. Came here late tonight with a friend who was not feeling her best. Not only did Kerry-Ann (the landlady) take care of her and sit with her the entire time, but she also acknowledged it was our end of exams and allowed the rest of us to celebrate still. Kerry-Ann is a credit to the pub, and to her family who were there with her. Please keep this pub going!!!!!

One of the best pubs I’ve ever been to! Lovely staff, great food and drinks that are nicely priced. The people behind the bar are excellent in providing customer service with a lovely atmosphere all around.

What a fantastic pub it’s caters for everything 2 top pool tables, 2 dart boards both TNT and sky sports showing all sports. Ifs dog friendly and the staff and managers go above and beyond. Would highly recommend this venue.

On a lads and dad’s weekend watching the 6 nations, came to watch the remaining matches of the day. Plenty of room to get a good view of a screen. This place had a fantastic atmosphere, the hosts couldn’t do enough for us really. Good pool and darts area, and good selection of drinks at a good price.

The blackweir tavern has a lovley family atmosphere, an amazing selection of drinks and activities to do whilst here including pool darts and chess. It’s a lovley local pub and will definitely be coming back.

Best pub. Clear. Way better than Northstar. Dont come on wednesday. Very cheap carlsberg very attractive customers. Excellent service

A few beers before the Wales V England game on the 5th August. Good selection and a really good atmosphere. Will use again, pub is easily within walking distance to the stadium.

Just be aware when visiting this pub.nice place, good selection of drinks but got one of those pay and display car park.

This pub is special it has decent parking which is rare in Cardiff. Lots of sport on TV’s and really good pool tables that are kept in great condition. Great prices on drinks , friendly staff and the food was great value. Whenever we are in Cardiff we go there it’s a favourite.

Fantastic pint of carlsberg the best I've had for a long time, didn't sample the food but the service was quick & friendly. The place was fairly lively & had a decent pool table, would recommend this place.

Not usually one for leaving reviews but Richard & Ceri-Ann, Landlords of the Blackweir Tavern went above and beyond to provide my daughter with an 18th Birthday Party that none of us will forget and we genuinely cannot thank them both enough. As any parent will know, planning for your daughter’s 18th Birthday party is not an easy task but with our daughter also having Learning Difficulties it was essential that we could provide her and her friends with the type of party that she wanted, but also in a safe environment. After talking with Richard & Ceri Ann about how we would like the evening to go they were more than happy take care of everything and reassured us that the party was being left in safe, capable hands. So as the title states ‘WOW!!!’ From transforming your pub, to supplying and preparing the food, we do not know how you managed it, but thanks again to both of you and all the staff who made the night a very special one.

Popped in here for a quick pit stop one sunny afternoon. I will never return not because it was expensive or the atmosphere was rubbish it was relatively cheap and the atmosphere was nice but the cups were stinking both mine and my partners cups had sticky lip mark residues on the cups before we'd even taken a drink

The most friendly and warm pub in Cardiff. I brought my Nan to Cardiff and the owners accommodated her amazingly. Made her feel so welcome back in her home town. Would recommend to anyone who visits. They’re so generous and lovely. Thank you for your hospitality xx

Great pub with friendly staff and warm, welcoming hosts! We shared the finger buffet platter just for a snack and it was perfect! Generous portions, really well cooked and the peri peri wings were spot on! Will definitely be visiting more often and need to try the Sunday lunch, looks delicious! The Blackwier Tavern is a cosy pub with friendly owners. We are always warmly greeted with a smile when we walk in. I have to recommend the Sunday roast, for the cheap price of £9.95 you can get two meats with all the trimmings you can imagine. They offer a wide range of drinks at cheap prices. The new owners have successfully revived a once derelict establishment, they are charming and sweet and always offer a listening ear. They are the epitome of welcoming and always ensure a happy visit, especially with my young family of four. I could not recommend this pub more for every occasion. 5 stars

Good local pub with a family vibe to it. The owners frequently have their kids around which adds to the family owned aesthetic of the pub. Good specials for 3 ciders or beers for £7. The pub has most of the football games on and has fun activities such as darts, pool, ping pong and on Fridays karaoke. The food is also good with good portions despite being on the more pricier end of things. Never too full. Definitely worth a visit. Usually gets busy on Wednesday nights as the Cardiff Uni hockey team comes for the socials.

Blackweir Tavern is a classic British pub; decent prices, same regular faces, a disinterested crowd either playing pub quiz, or as in our case, singing karaoke, and a friendly land lady. An essential element of the Cardiff student experience.

I have not been to this pub, I would have liked to, however after 8 straight phone calls at various times of the day they simply didnt pickup, this was to book a table as S A Brain "Book a Table" did NOT list this pub, thus couldn't book.

It’s a cracking pub, theres free pool, Stacey was lovely and I will definitely come back another time.

My local pub, good deals on food and drink through the week. Food is good and reasonable price. Stacey behind the bar is top class.

Terrible service and food. My partner and I came to this pub on Sunday afternoon for their £10 for 2 courses (for this price we didnt expect much, however, we had expected more than below average.) Ordered around 1:30- we were advised the food wait would be 30 minutes.. we were absolutely fine with that FIFTY MINUTES LATER i asked the waiter how long our food would be as we had places to be.. when he came back he advised "not much longer, the chef has lots of tickets" is not really a timeframe, and advising how many tickets he had in a half empty bar is not an excuse. A time frame was all that was needed. I mean, we dont mind waiting but actually be honest about the wait time. AN HOUR and a bit later we get our food- roast beef- hands down the worst roast I have eaten, in my life, however, we mauled it down anyway as we were so hungry.. after waiting so long. We then thought we had been there long enough so we may as well stay for the dessert (rookie mistake) after waiting 20 minutes again i thought i better see where our dessert was, so i went up to the bar .. the response was "oh yes, i'll let the kitchen know".. so we had been waiting 20 minutes for absolutely no reason. 100% would not recommend.

Llegué hoy a la hora del almuerzo con mi papá y mis 3 perros. Un saludo muy cálido de la comida de Adam fue genial, un ambiente agradable y relajado trajo un tazón de agua y golosinas para los perros sin que ni siquiera lo pidamos. Sin duda volveremos de nuevo. Muchas gracias por un muy buen almuerzo
