Having booked this for my birthday and then reading the latest reviews I was somewhat nervous. However, we were greeted well, served with drinks fairly swiftly and then seated. The ambience of the place is lovely. We had Sunday lunch, 2 courses £29. The mains were good, enough to fill us and veg cooked just right. The crackling on the pork wasn't crispy but that was the only detractor. The staff were polite and attentive. Perhaps there's been a recent blip and they're now back on track.

Second visit for us yesterday. First time was superb, yesterday wasn’t. We got a call from the restaurant when we were travelling to say the WiFi had gone down and could we pay cash. We found a cash point and these things happen so no problem with that. The issues started when the food arrived. The main course plates were slammed onto the table. We ordered two beef lunches, one pink and one well done. Both were identical and there was a real reluctance from the waitress to take one back to the kitchen. She did so eventually. We then had to track down another member of staff to ask for some horseradish and apple sauce as nothing had been offered. There was a significant delay with the deserts which were all really poor and the bill took forever to arrive. Not a great experience.

This was our second attempt to enjoy Sunday lunch here. Sadly the experience was once again poor and we won’t be back. Waited far too long (35 minutes) for a drink. Bread stale, roast beef too fatty and vegetables tough to cut! Eton mess poor!

Visited last night for our wedding anniversary hoping for something a bit special. Lovely decor and ambiance but we were really disappointed with the food. I ordered the stake with chimichurri. It arrived with peppercorn sauce (I assumed they must have ran out of chimichurri but it wasn’t mentioned). Stake was really fatty and chewy and difficult to cut through. It was served with fries which were just frozen McDonald’s type fries. I expected something more home cooked. My husband ordered a coffee after the meal and was told the machine was broken. He then ordered a whiskey and the server had no idea what he was asking for despite it being on their very limited drinks menu. We then waited 20 minutes for the drinks before being told they couldn’t find the whiskey. He ordered an alternative scotch and it was served with ice. My husband had to send it back and ask for another. When the bill came the peppercorn sauce mentioned earlier was charged as an extra despite this not being my choice. The meal cost us £200 and an additional £45 for taxis back and forth. It really was not worth the price! Staff seemed nice if a little neglectful ( had to ask them to take away empty glasses that were sat there for the whole meal on our small table) and inexperienced. They knew nothing about the menu and drinks available despite the menu being very small. I wouldn’t return.

We booked Sunday lunch for 2.15 with our friend. The table wasn't ready and We were asked to wait in the lounge. We weren't offered any drinks while We waited. 10 minutes later We were taken to our table. We had 4 different waiters, there wasn't any organisation there appeared to be no one in charge. It wasn't a relaxing atmosphere. Our Sunday lunch was fine although the Greens were not just cold they were un cooked. It was £165 lunch. We have previously visited during the week for lunch and it was a lovely relaxing experience. They need someone to coordinate their staff at busy times.

Disappointed with service and quality of food. Service was slow and staff clearly need some training about how to welcome guests, not take away plates whilst people are still eating and attend to the table (even when you are waving frantically at 6 servers having a chat). Food was below average and overpriced. The lamb rump appeared and the fat was not rendered at all, making it look unpleasant and then had no taste, as was the cod loin and the chicken supreme. All of our main meals were disappointing and when the staff asked and we told them this - they just said sorry and walked away. A service charge was added at the end of the meal without the option to take it off. We didn’t want to make a fuss as it was my mums 82nd birthday meal…. So paid and left. Would not recommend and will not return, which is a shame as the setting is beautiful and we expected a real treat. Change the chef, train the staff and you could have a fantastic little restaurant.

Food was good - delicious starters of mackerel with beetroot from the garden and heritage tomatoes served with red pepper gazpacho. Chicken and cod main courses were also well presented and very tasty. Unfortunately the service especially drinks was very poor. Staff didn’t know what was available and said there was no draught larger when this was then served to other guests. Second order came as 2 shandies instead of one pint and one shandy and the wine spritzer simply was not served! We would love to come back for a second chance but hopefully the service will be much better

I feel the need to write this review today after many a visit. I’ve been here a few times now because I love the idea of the place. Unfortunately, it’s never a nice experience. I always feel the staff are a little uninterested and never overly friendly but that’s not the reason for this review. The plot to plate is a lovely idea but in theory it’s a health hazard. This is the THIRD time I have had to point out that there’s lots of small flies in my meal. The first time the staff almost told me I had put them there because they weren’t there when it left the kitchen!!! Erm!!! Despite arguing they eventually changed my meal but it put me off. Second time I dined here I checked again in the greens and lo and behold more small flies. Today on my 3rd visit, the large garnish on the top was accompanied by 5 very small dead flies. Unless you look closely you probably won’t notice, this time the meal was taken away quickly and quietly and the staff did apologise but I’m astounded that this keeps happening. I feel the greens are not being correctly washed when they are picked in the garden and something really needs to be done about this because how many people who had the same meal as me today ate flies and didn’t realise? I would imagine someone needs to urgently look at and address the issues here anywhere else would be closed down! I hate to leave reviews like this for local businesses, but these issues haven’t been addressed when I’ve raised concerns in the restaurant before. Please please check the meal before you eat!

Opted for the bottomless lunch which is a 3 course lunch with bottomless Prosecco, which lasts 90 minutes. That said there was no rush for us to leave our table and we did have a cocktail to finish our meal. The menu as always is seasonal and much of the food is from the gardens and locally produced. The broccoli starter was simple but delicious. We then had chicken, which is something I wouldn’t normally choose, but it was so tasty and as with all the food here, the presentation is well crafted. We wanted to try all the deserts and opted for all 3 to share, that was a very good decision. The chef is is very creative and the staff are friendly and helpful. I have never been disappointed when I’ve eaten here and it continues to be a favourite restaurant.

Restaurant with great ambiance. My husband and I celebrated Valentine’s Day at the Glasshouse Restaurant, we had the set menu and the range of options were great. Before arrival we were informed that that card machine was broken so all payments need to be made by cash. Food was okay, dessert was okay too but nothing special. We had Sunday lunch at the Glasshouse before and the food was better then. When proceed to pay for the meal, we realised that that the whole payment system was down (not just the card machine). The bill was hand written and the dessert price was processed incorrectly. Overall, we would go back for the Sunday lunch but might not return for the normal menu in a hurry.

Love the ambience of this place and the well trained team of mostly young staff . We happened to be the last customers there which has happened before but we didn’t feel rushed at all - which was appreciated . All three courses were delicious and it was a lovely treat for visiting family . Will definitely return - and will try to book a slightly busier period - would be an even better experience with a little more hustle and bustle - that’s not a criticism of the restaurant or staff - just my booking !

I was given a gift to visit this restaurant but unfortunately the experience was not so good, whilst the food was nice the service was not (they had no one managing the staff) we would have been in & out in just under an hour if we hadn't slowed things up. As fast as we sat down we asked for our drink selection, then food and within minutes the starters appeared and no sooner had the plates been finished than the mains appeared. When they came to collect the main plates we told them we wanted some time before ordering dessert. You have no time to take in the ambience, the venue was actually quiet so I didn't see the reason to speed things up. Very disappointing visit.

Drove 45 miles for a (hoped) special Mothers Day lunch but sadly we left very disappointed. Starter (fish cake in chive sauce) tasty enough but poorly presented - all very beige! Pork main course - ok but nothing more than ok and no stuffing, even with pork? Desert (apple & blackberry crumble & custard) - very very poor. Tiny serving with about 2 tablespoons of watery, tasteless custard. Crumble was more like a powder and not crunchy or tasty. Diced apple and 1 blackberry served on the top! Looked pretty but that’s about it! Service was ok but had to ask 3 times for the bill. Best bit of the meal was the cocktail. So many better places to dine so don’t be swayed by the setting, as we were. Could have been so much better with a little more attention to detail and care.

Was advised to book well in advance as often full. Only 3 other tables booked the whole time we were there. I remember the Glasshouse as it used to be so it was really lovely to see it turned into an extremely charming location to enjoy a meal out. Unfortunately, it wasn't a great start for our 27th Wedding Anniversary dinner. We were seated and given the wine menu. Firstly, it was quite dark and the print was particularly small. Now I normally don't need to take a torch and reading glasses with me for a meal out. So, we chose what we thought was an Italian Rose from the normal wine section. The bottle was brought to the table and not checked with us prior to opening. As we were chatting, our wine glasses were swiftly changed for what looked like Prosecco glasses and the wine 'popped' and quickly poured. It was at this point that I pointed out that there may have been a mistake and we didn't order Prosecco (as my husband doesn't drink it). The waitress insisted we did and carried on pouring it. I requested the wine menu be brought back to check. Indeed we'd ordered a Prosecco by mistake. What decent restaurant includes a Prosecco in the Rose Wine section? Surely it supposed to be in with the Sparkling Wine section which was in a seperate section at the bottom of the menu. Furthermore, the bottle wasn't checked with us prior to opening. Now we've eaten in fine restaurants to village pubs and we've always had our wine choice checked with us before it's poured. We ended up having to buy another bottle of wine for my husband to drink. Needless to say, we couln't finish a bottle each. The food menu was brought to us with the Set Menu on top and the A la-Carte Menu underneath. We preferred the options on the set menu and duly ordered and were looking forward to our choices. After taking our order and bit of a wait, the waitress returned to the table and we were then told that the set menu wasn't on tonight and we'd have to choose from the A la-Carte instead. Why give us a set menu if it wasn't on? We re-ordered knowing by this time our £100 worth of vouchers our lovely daughter bought us to enjoy a meal out on her, wasn't going to go very far. We had high hopes for the food. The starters were ok, nothing extraordinary, and the mains were somewhat unremarkable. My husband ordered a steak which was £34. Literally, it was a small sirloin steak (correctly cooked though) with a pot of chips and little bit of side salad. He asked for a peppercorn sauce to accompany it. Mine was beef short rib which was nice but not a lot of it. After the first few bites, the waitress returned to the table to tell us that the set menu was indeed on tonight and offered her apologies. After expressing our disappointment to hear this (as we would have preferred the meal off the set menu), she offered to honour my meal at the set menu price but couldn't honour my husband's as he had the steak. So we had to pay for all his courses seperately. I got 'the look' off the other half which clearly told me "don't make a fuss". The portions were small to medium size, so we decided to have a dessert. We booked for 7.30 on a Thursday Evening, by the time we finished the main and requested the dessert menu it was 8.50. We requested a rest between courses to be told at 8.55 that we had to order as the Chef leaves the restaurant at 9.00 pm. Oh my goodness! We wished to have the full experience of a three course menu but believe me it was an uncomfortable eat with no rest in between. Not a pleasant experience. We requested the bill - which was incorrect as we'd been overcharged and I had to dispute it - which is not the best end to an evening. For a meal for two we generally spend around £100 give or take depending on the wine choice. This meal should have cost us 2 x £30 and a bottle of wine at £37 so our vouchers should have more than covered it. The bill came to just short of £170. This consisted of 1st mistake with the wine, 2nd mistake with the set menu (set menu on - oh sorry set menu not on - oh sorry the set menu is on, my apologies) and a service charge included of £17). Now we would normal give a healthy tip but to have it added on as matter of expectation, kind of tipped me over the edge. However, I didn't want to ruin the whole evening by me having a menopausal wobbler with the staff to explain just how appalling their service was, so we paid the bill! All I can say is What a Shame - this is one of our locals and we were saving the visit for a special occasion! Won't be returning in a hurry, if at all. Much better value and much more deserving restaurants to each elsewhere.

We have been regulars of both Wynyard Hall and latterly The Glasshouse, for many, many years. We have always enjoyed the atmosphere and food, but sadly not this time. When we arrived we were given a table directly beneath the music speaker, which was playing very loudly. We asked to be moved, the staff member (not the original) was very understanding, admitted the music was very loud and led us to another table. It was all downhill from there. The service was not attentive and we were largely ignored all evening by the original staff member, who was obviously not pleased that we had asked to be moved......and showed it, by being overly pleasant, happy and attentive to the diners behind and to the side of us. The food this visit was a huge let down. Although the meat was passable, the vegetables were cold and undercooked. We left saddened and extremely disappointed. We love dining at Wynyard, but they definitely need to up their game for us to return. May I end by stating that I took no pleasure in submitting this negative review. It took over 3 hours for us to have all eaten and we were all served at different times so there was a lot of sitting around supping grossly overpriced drinks. Two of our table ordered the chicken which was undercooked (juices running red) the staff were friendly enough but tried to tell us it was blood lines... I mean, we've all cooked chicken... it was undercooked. To their credit they took it off the bill when we protested. The burger was average and the chips were overcooked, way overpriced and presented on a sarcastically large plate for the meal size. They charge premium prices for average food. First time in years we haven't tipped as we ended up having to goto the bar to order drinks... their one and only tap is some variance of house lager that tastes how sadness feels.

Visited with friends having previously been a number of times. Noticeable immediately was the increase in the prices. Toasties and Baguettes an increase of at least £2 per item. Also noticed the pastries had increased significantly. A tiny piece of cake £4! Also had run out of coleslaw but no reduction in the price? Will definitely not be visiting again at these prices. Extortionate! Apparently the place is owned by John Hall (ex Newcastle United chairman) He must be feeling the pinch in his very old age.

Came as a party of friends who regularly eat out together at venues in the local area. The food was mostly good, but the chips tasted like they were frozen and the sweetcorn tasted like it was from a tin. Not what you would expect for the price. The service was not up to the standard that you would expect from a premium venue either. Whilst the staff were lovely, they were not attentive to our group and made a significant error when bringing the drinks order out. My friend ordered a non alcoholic lager, because he was driving, but was brought a non gluten version, that was 5% alcohol and equivalent to 1.7 units. If he had drank 2 of these without realising that it was an alcoholic version he would have been over the limit and getting back in the car at the end of the night. Fortunately, I realised the error before he started drinking, but it could have been catastrophic for my friend. The waitress seemed unaware of the implications. Throughout the evening she asked another friend for her order immediately after she had taken it. Other waiting staff passed food over the length of the table instead of bringing it round to the right side of the table where it was required. At the start if the evening it took approx 20 minutes to take the initial drinks order. In the meantime only one carafe of water was brought for 6 of us to share. Attention to detail and to our party was poor, which was a shame as we will not revisit this venue again unless service improves.

Don't get me wrong the food tasted great , however I ordered fish and it was home made fish finger size, I am getting a little tired of paying premium prices for sushi sized portions of fish Also ordered cider and it was warm, I guess the assumption is that the ice in the glass will cool it down IMO food and drink could do better

Brunch OK., eggs Benedict were nice, but nothing stood out about the dish, have had better elsewhere. In my opinion, service was not great, a bit hit and miss and slow at times, despite being quiet during my visit, dissapointing really. Parts of it actually felt a little unfriendly, which left a poor atmosphere. The manager subsequently contacted me via email to request feedback from the visit, which I did reply directly to. Am sure it was maybe just an unlucky experience, and we will try other parts of the venue at some point. Yet to hear anymore regarding my response.

White House Black Market is a women's clothing that sells tees, blouses, jeans, work pants, dresses, stockings, belts, hats, jewelry, and more. This WHBM location had a nice selection of full priced items, clearance items, and final sale items. Diamond assisted us in getting us fitting rooms, removing unwanted items from our dressing rooms, getting other sizes for items that didn't fit, and fixing an item I was interested in that had a loose thread. I ended buying a Surplice Sheath Dress, Drop Shoulder Tunic, and Wide Scoop Neck L/S shirt.

Came here as part of a celebration event. The staff were great and couldn't fault them. The catering wasn't what I was expecting. Occupational uncooked wedges, anaemic looking sausage rolls and scarcity of vegetables. The venture itself is decently sized and has adequate parking.
