I think this pub serves the best food in the Forest of Dean. The service is also second to none. The menu serves local sourced food, and I could eat everything on the menu. You certainly won't be disappointed.

We stopped here for a meal yesterday. The restaurant was full, but they managed to squeeze us in. So pleased they did, the food (lamb and ribs) was absolutely delicious. Wish we lived near this place, we'd be regulars! Thank you ☺️

I made last minute plans to take some friends to dinner, and they recommended the Glasshouse. We didn’t have reservations, and showed up on a busy Friday night in the hopes that they'd have room for us. They were super accommodating, and ever so friendly. Despite being busy, the service was great. We even had the chef come to our table on several occasions. The atmosphere is perfect for enjoying conversation with your guests. Our meals were delicious, and dessert was also yummy. You can go for a nice walk afterwards on the public paths that surround the area. We will certainly be back to this hidden treasure.

We went here for my brothers 40th Birthday Meal. And I cannot recommend this place enough!! Wonderful food...some of the best food I have had in a while. The staff are fantastic and can not do enough for you....so friendly and funny...especially the male waiter who we name Manwell...joining in on jokes making us all laugh. The pub is situated in a lovely spot and inside is just as wonderful. We will definitely be making the journey again to go back. 10000% deserved and the whole family had a wonderful afternoon there and could not say enough good thing about it and all the staff. Also the chef who made the most delicious food!!!

Say outside limited opening hours closed Monday and Tuesday, still a lovely pub under new owners. I did like the old forthright landlord. Prober pub land lord no kids no messing.

Had a fantastic meal here, really generous portions of a very interesting menu, we had monkfish and pigeon as starters for example. The food offering was definitely worth what we paid. Great traditional pub decor inside. We'll be back for more!

Stunning place in a beautiful secluded location. Very friendly and helpful staff. And the food. Oh my God,the food was gorgeous. Well worth a visit! Pigeon, pork, lamb and beef. The lamb and beef are from their own farm. Very romantic and rustic setting with log fires, wooden tables and taxidermy on the walls (some comical). Love this place.

This was my second visit to The Glasshouse, a traditional pub offering separate accommodation, though this review focuses solely on the pub as we did not stay overnight. The service was outstanding, characterised by attentive and friendly staff. The meal mostly impressed, with the majority of dishes hitting the mark, albeit with a few that didn’t quite meet expectations. Please note, there is a non-optional 10% service charge for parties of seven or more. Overall all an excellent meal nearly 5 stars.

The food here is lush! We had the bbq ribs, and two starters. Both were delicious! Very friendly staff too and dog friendly! A brilliant place to stop after the long trek down from May Hill, and the food certainly gives you energy for the climb back up!

All I'll say is 10 out of 10 just go and try it for yourselves and I'd be VERY VERY surprised if you can find any faults. The food is absolutely first class. Alison the host and her husband the chef have it sorted . Thank you very much and as Arnold Schwarzenegger would say I'll be back " Many Thanks, Lyndon Powell

The Glasshouse is simply superb. We stayed in one of the new, one bed lodges and were bowled over by them. Add on top of that one of the most generous and high quality meals in the stunning historic pub and the location right next to May Hill and the Forest of Dean and it made for a perfect little break. We honestly can't praise it highly enough. Go ahead and book it. You won't be disappointed.

We wanted to walk up May Hill and we’re looking for a near by pub. Found the glasshouse and decided to book. The pub is utterly charming with an interior more akin to a museum - felt like going back in time. The service was excellent and the choice of menu and quality of the food was superb. I had the roast rib eye which was probably the best pub roast I’d ever had! 5 big stars ⭐️

We didn't stay here so can't comment on the rooms. We went for a drink and loved the atmosphere so we booked a table for the following evening. Although we were in the conservatory it was toasty warm and cosy without being on top of the next door table! The staff looked after us very well and were attentive and helpful. The extensive menu and specials board allowed us to feast on fish! The bouillabaisse was a wow meal and the duck in black cherry sauce was so tasty. We had two glasses of merlot and the cost was £80 for an excellent meal - well cooked and presented.

We stopped by en route to the Forest of Dean for the weekend and were wowed by every course. Brilliant flavour with every mouthful, great quality ingredients, all served with personality and flair. Steak was first-class, the gammon too. Spicy Chorizo appetiser is one of the best! All rounded off with great Banofee. Well worth the trip up the hill to such an idyllic pub and location. A candlelit table provided the perfect setting.

Went for lunch, ordered 2 gammon, 1 mussels (starter) and 2 bowls of chips between 4 people for the same table, ordered at the same time. The gammon came out, looked beautiful. After waiting over an hour we asked what happened to the two bowls of chips and mussels and were told they'd 'been pushed back behind other mains' after an hour and a half we ended up having a refund as had run out of time and needed to leave hungry. Very disappointing.

Absolute gem of a traditional pub serving the most delicious quality food in a beautiful quiet hamlet. Fantastic menu choice, including a good choice of fish and sea food. Lovely outdoor space and garden but we sat in the conservatory which has been very sympathetically added to the original inn. The atmosphere is very cosy and friendly, no music which makes a nice change. Little cosy nooks, original feature, beams, fascinating artefacts and period pieces.
