Ruspidge Fish and Chips in Forest of Dean

We went here purely based on the other reviews claiming it to be the best fish and chip shop in the Forest of Dean. What a shock we had! The fish was watery, the batter was greasy and tasteless. Curry sauce wasn’t great. Tomato sauce was cheap and watery. They forgot to pack some of our order so we had to go back! Portion size was small. Chips weren’t nice. Overall we didn’t eat much of it.

What has happened to this fish n chip shop. It used to be great, but tonight the chips were rubbery and tasted of cheap fat, horrible. The fish batter was rubbery and not cooked inside, the fish was luke warm and tough. The mushy peas were more like soup, we had to drain them. Terrible. The last two curries we had from here were not the same either. Has this shop been taken over? Unfortunately worst fish and chips I've ever had. Won't be going again!

Easily the best kebab in the Forest Of Dean. Tucked out of the way but worth a visit.

I’ve be been going to this Indian for years but we had the worst Indian takeaway we have ever had tonight. The mixed pickle tray was still frozen, the peshwari naan had no coconut, the keema naan had no meat and our 2 curry’s looked the same and was completely tasteless!. Will not be returning to this place. Sorry to see the place go to ruin

First time trying here last night.Great fish/chips and burger/chips. So far the best around. Ordered online which was easy and delivery driver was friendly.

Below average fish and chips. Far superior available elsewhere in the forest. However I do like the kebabs.

Tasty fresh fish and yummy chips cooked till they were golden brown. Very reasonable prices too.

Always have a home delivery and everytime my meal is spot on can't fault it from fish & chips to pizza to burgers and Indian curry, brilliant food, brilliant service and brilliant delivery. Thankyou

This takeaway serves the best fish and chips in the Forest of Dean! They also do an excellent menu for Indian food, Pizza and kebabs. They do all of these really well. So glad we found them

We have had both Indian and fish/chips from here and both have been fab. Their Indian is very tasty and authentic and their collection service was well handled through the lockdown.

Absolutely disgusting!food turned up nearly an hour late . Food was cold stuff missing !and fish was so hard it must of been cooked hours before .I dont even recommend 1star!

We called in for fish and chips and sat down in the adjacent bar. The quantities of fish, chips and mushy peas was just right, and all nicely cooked. I didn't try any of the beer, but we did try the cider (can't remember the name), which was lovely. It's a friendly atmosphere, and very good value.

This place has an indian takeaway and restaurant as well as fish & chips but I've only tried the fish & chips. The size of the fish portions are not as big as others in the area and I do wish the chaps would wear some kind of apron when serving the Fish & Chips.

Had a stressful day so went to our local Indian restaurant had a great meal, so tasty made a bad day good. Every thing was first class. Best mushroom rice and garlic nann. And Jaz made our curry just to our taste.

A mate of mine and I regularly drink in the New Inn, across the road and when my ride home collects we get our fish and chips here. Excellent food, friendly staff and the usual varied choices on the menu, very generous portions. Great choice in a small village

If you want a forest atmosphere, this is the genuine locals at their best (we have moved to the area), really little cosy indian, you can have kebabs, chips in restaurant (fish and chip shop next door same owners), heres the draw very good value for money, and you will leave with a smile

We stayed at the Rainforest chapel about 100 metres from the chip shop and used it twice, once for indian takeaway and once for fish and chips. We thoroughly enjoyed both meals although the curry could be hotter! And the staff were very friendly. would recommend.

We were staying locally & happy to find this place just across the road, good quality food cooked to order at a very fair price & served with a smile. All one could want from a local chippy & we'd certainly use it again when in the area.

What I want from a chippy is hot, fresh, quality and cheap (in price) food served quickly with courtesy. The chippy does all this plus easy parking, no queues, telephone orders taken, a bar and Indian next door and a pub across the road. Perfect.

We live down the road from this fish and chip / curry shop. This was my second visit, never again, I think they need to change the oil more often, threw the chips away.

Well in my view it is. Great service, great food and honestly the best batter cod I have had this far from the sea. Jaz and his team are so efficient and friendly. Glad they are my local.

Can't get better curry out of India. If it's not on the menu they will make it for you. We go every week and have their special menu made to our taste. Wonderful.

This has become one of the best fish and chip shops in the Forest of Dean. The quality of their food has been consistently good since it's opened and this has shown in the amount of people that go there everyday. There is a range of options on the menu and you won't be short of options when you visit. Great place to eat and enjoy a Great British classic!
