What an unexpected pleasure! We were cycling round Dorset and accidentally found this lovely cafe down a side street. Healthy homemade food from soups, salads and quiches to cakes. Friendly service. Clean tables. It shows how the ordinary can be exceptional if done well. Probably one of the best cafes I've been to in the UK in years.

Passing Blandford we decided to go in and find somewhere for lunch. We spotted the Georgian Tea Rooms down a side alley and decided to try it. Initially, we thought we were out of luck as all the available tables were reserved. Fortunately we were early and able to get a table. Wide ranging menu of home cooked produce. The soup and quiche were both homemade and presented as a meal. Very tasty and filling, great service. It is also doggie friendly which was handy as we had our dog with us. Great find and will go again when we are passing.

A real gem of a find while staying in the area - so good we went twice! Once for lunch - lovely home cooked food, snacks and cakes, cream tea - toastie and panini comes with a lovely side salad and homemade coleslaw Once for Breakfast - nicely cooked fresh, good quality produce used - nice butchers sausages and perfect poached eggs! Good service, friendly and attentive - gets busy with locals, and tables being booked for lunch Very clean and great standards Good price for home cooked quality food

Breakfast average for price. Found the sign in the toilet quite disturbing relating to turning the lights off after use or help pay the electricity bill. I did query the bill as I was charged for two portions of jam instead of one which was met with a stony faced response. Not the atmosphere I would recommend.

What can we say? UTTERLY AMAZING! We were on our return journey to Bicester, after a weeks holiday in Weymouth. We stopped in Blandford for fuel and to grab a bite to eat. We had tried the cafe just round the corner on the High Street but they didn’t allow dogs and boy, are we glad we were refused there! A table was soon made available for the 2 of us and our Border Collie. Apart from food I had cooked myself at the holiday cottage, this was a country mile better than ANYTHING we ate in Weymouth. We had a full English breakfast, a pot of tea and warm Dorset Apple cake with cream to finish. A beautifully presented, tasty, hot, British favourite was enjoyed immensely by both of us and I will be dreaming about that warm Dorset Apple cake, for a long time to come. Thank you to both of you for a scrumptious end to our rather disappointing culinary experiences of the past week. Don’t go anywhere else in Blandford…..head here.

I visited today the price was reasonable and the food and coffee was OK for the price, however the atmosphere was not great and I felt very unwelcome with my children. The gentleman whom took the order was pleasant however the woman was rude and made comments about there being children and how it was 'chaos' - both children were sitting eating their cake. I approached the desk and was greated by the woman saying 'what do you want' in a rude tone. Overall it was unwelcoming and not children friendly, I will not return nor will I recommend.

Why do tea rooms mostly close at tea-time (around 4.30)? And why do they make it so obvious that you are the last customers of the day and they are closing up around you? This place was one of those, and was depressing therefore, and perfunctory. On the plus side, they were dog-friendly. The teacakes arrived with 2 rock-hard pre-wrapped pats of butter. Teacakes are nothing if they are not buttered immediately, allowing all the wonderful butteriness to sink in. So, perfunctory - it avoided a "poor" because of the dog-friendliness

I visited Blandford Forum on a hot day in June en route to Milton Abbas and decided to take a light lunch at the Georgian Tea Rooms. We had a very good lunch here on a warm spring day at this deservedly popular place. The scones were very good – the cheese scones are excellent – as are the sandwiches (ask for wholemeal or granary bread). The only disappointment was the availability of outdoor seating. This is not a criticism of the Georgian Tea Rooms per se (apparently the owner of the property does not permit tables), but the photos posted on TripAdvisor are misleading: one clearly shows a table in front of the café. In fact there's only a small bench: If you want to eat outside, the proprietor will bring out an extra chair or two, not a table. But if you're not fussy about al fresco dining, the indoor seating is quite comfortable!

I absolutely love this little tea room. Nestled away a few steps off the main thoroughfare in Blandford, it's a hidden gem. Small, but perfectly formed. I've visited a few times and always order the mature cheddar and pineapple toasted sandwich, on gluten free bread, which comes served with a little side salad .... fresh, delicious and crisp with a tasty dressing. Lots of other options, but it's my favourite! The menu is not extensive, but there are daily specials and all food is freshly prepared and cooked to order. This is not gourmet dining, it is quality ingredients expertly cooked. On my previous visit, with my son, he enjoyed a fabulous roast .... I still had the cheese and pineapple toasted sandwich ! The service is welcoming and friendly. Fabulous place for breakfast, brunch, lunch or afternoon tea. Selection of homemade cakes and again there is usually a gluten free option.... unless it's already all been devoured. I'd recommend booking to guarantee a table, especially at lunchtime.

We were planning a lunchtime stop and found this place on tripadvisor. and were not disappointed. Arrived just after 12 30 and only two other customers but within 20mins the place was full. We had a couple of panini's and latte's which were very good. We would highly recommend this tea rooms and wish we had longer to spend in Blandford.

I met up with a friend in this tea room today and had the best Bakewell tart ever! The couple running the tea room are fairly new owners and are making a good job of it as they were chatty and polite. I can highly recommend The Georgian Tea Rooms

A cosy oasis that I was recommended by a work colleague. Excellent all round. Will always use the Georgian tea rooms when we go to Blandford. What a find. A little gem. Thank you.

Popped in with my wife earlier this week for a spot of late lunch.Went for the Baked Potato with Chilli.Very nice, extremely nice people running the place and good service. They were right when they said the Chilli had a "kick".Definitely worth going if you need a café in Blandford Forum.

We were very glad to find a welcome here as we feared the cafe might be closed towards the end of a cold December afternoon. Thank you to all the Trip Advisor reviewers for encouraging us to seek out these Tea Rooms off Market Place. Delicious tea and scones exactly what we were hoping for.

My only observation is that it needs an extractor fan so you don't come out smelling of the cooking.

This is a lovely little cafe situated in a very old part of town. To get to it you have to walk over flagstones which are nearly 300 years old. Every meal is freshly prepared while you wait - but this does not mean that you have to wait a very long time - and the wait is worth it. The food is excellent, the staff are lovely and the bill is very reasonable. It's an all round win.

If you are visiting Dorset and love afternoon tea then try the Dorset cream tea here. The pot of tea is lovely and big, so you will get at least two cups per person. The scones are homemade, as are the cakes and are beautifully light. Also I have been reliably informed by a friend that they serve the best breakfast in Blandford, which I understand they stop doing at 15:00! There is also a wide range of other foods on their menu.

We popped in today as our usual cafe was closed! I can see now why we don't visit the black cactus. This isn't the first time, but the two members of staff, who weren't busy dealing with lots of custo
