The George & Dragon in Dacorum

Used to be a great pub for the working man, but if the new management hear you saying you're voting for reform you get instantly barred and called a racist which couldn't be further from the truth. When confronted about this management all of a sudden are not available and the poor girl behind the bar is left to deal with the management's outrageous decision. Take your hard earned money else where.

Cozy pub where you can feel the history of the place - just watch your head walking in otherwise the feeling becomes physical. Friendly barmen, nice local crowd, fantastic garden seating on a warm sunny day. The taps have standard beers on offer and the prices are well affordable.

Nice place since the new landlord took over. Lots of new faces popping in and good selection of ales and lagers. Keep it up... F

So, I heard some uncalled and unfair comments about a couple of visitors tonight. I expect to visit traditional pubs and enjoy the atmosphere but tonight I heard outright racism and uncomfortable conversation. It made me feel very unsettled and I could feel the apprehension of the two visitors that left swiftly! Is this something the George and dragon want to be associated with ? A

I was disappointed with my chicken bacon mayo bun today. The bun was small, the bacon wasn’t crispy, the bit of salad was unexciting and the crisps were stale. At £9 it was the most expensive bun I’ve ever had!

Great food, very well presented. Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and despite the fact they were super busy, they still patiently stopped to patiently explain everything about the area to us.

Just had an incredible Sunday roast with smoked brisket here - very reasonable pricing, friendly staff and a generally lovely local pub feel. Will be coming back!

Though pub kitchen was still closed, a lovely mobile cake shop in the parking was available. With energetic kids, enjoyed café in the large pub garden.

We popped in hoping for something to eat on a Saturday afternoon but kitchen closed. Bar staff friendly. Pub looked clean. Beer ok. For an old traditional pub seemed to feel a bit uninviting. Unlikely to visit again

Hard to see how this venue survives on the odd live music night and a few regulars in at any one time. There used to be a great atmosphere on Monday evenings as Two of Berkhamsteds best pool teams played at this venue. Quite a lucrative night for the pub. Shame that they pub doesnt have a pool team anymore.

Friendly locals pub, a lot bigger than it looks from the road with extensive patio and garden at the back. There were 4 premium ales on tap when I went for lunch... Black Sheep, McMullens Bombadier, Greene King standard plus one other. The Black Sheep was in v good nick .. delicious. Hearty good value food from a short menu. Dog-friendly. Recommended!

Nice place with a back garden and with a car park. Its a good place for a quick bite or a cold refreshment but dont expect too much. Nothing special.

My wife goes to aldi every week and is very satisfied with every thing she buys especially the savings compared to other stores.

On the face of it, this pub didn't look like it was going to deliver much, but as I walked in I spotted the chef in the kitchen handling a fresh joint of meat and I dared to hope. I ended up with a delicious still warm roast beef sandwich on fresh malted bread with good crispy chips..it was excellent and the service was really friendly too.

Like many of the pubs in the area, it does a job! Beer is ubiquitous but kept well, food is good value without being exceptional. The footprint of this pub should make it one of the best but punch will never make the investment.

I have been drinking in this pub on and off for years It is now the best it's ever been Very friendly staff and the mix of customers is fab never a dull moment The food is lovely we went to the Fish night last Thursday it was amazing Take no notice of the old reviews. One of the worst pubs I have ever been to. I know it is a village pub but the landlord is not cut out to run a pub very clicky and hostile please be aware is not a place to go if you want a social experience

A good local pub filled with classic English charm and could exist in the exact same form any time in the last 50 years.

Took a friend having told him about the amazing Sunday roasts served. New management served child sized portions which we feel are extremely overpriced. None of the menu puddings were available either. V disappointed.

As the few reviews are old I thought that I woudl add one.. In the interim the pub has been closed, retenanted, redecorated etc. In line with Punch Tavern's policy it now has, in a small bar, Sky television (always on) with sound PLUS seperate Musac. I think a funny thing to do with a village pub. Anyway, as the last pub standing in Northchurch it is important that it succeeds. But, it does not suit me so I will not be going there again. M,

11 of us went fro roast dinner, they were very accommodating as they were very busy with a christening the food was outstanding Best roast we have had in a pub ever Thank-you so Much

Nice pub which does good food, however a small kitchen means slow service if there is a large group.

Have often driven past this pub but never visited up until last night, primarily to see a particular musician. Went with my partner & another couple & had a throughly good night. This is a real pub, very cosy interior-blackened beams, a few snug corners & tongue & groove half panelling. One of a fast disappearing type, unfortunately. The bar staff are friendly & professional & we found the ales & lagers to be in excellent order. The music was excellent , as we expected & the bar was pretty well full with an appreciative audience. We will certainy be visiting this pub again. Please do not change anything! Places like this are far too rare.

A great pub which regularly supports live music. The open-mic night on the1st and 3rd Mondays each month are the most fun you'll have on a Monday!
