Food was lovely and not that greasy, however the assistant thought it would be fun to add £5 extra to my bill. Good job I had checked the price as I walked in.

Food was OK, nothing special but very expensive. Fish & Chips about £5 per person above what I would normally pay

Unfortunately this once reliable and accessible fish and chips shop has fallen under the same self-important delusion as every other chip shop in Hertfordshire and is now charging extortionate amounts even for their most basic items. Inflation is no excuse anymore. A simple meal of sausage and chips does not necessitate a price tag of almost £6. You are not a gourmet restaurant serving an exotic delicacy, you are (supposed) to be a fish and chip shop, serving accessibl well-priced meals. It's literally potatoes with a processed sausage, it should be no more than £4. I can get this exact meal in East London for £4 or less AND get a bigger portion. Moreover, service is sometimes rude, they put up a tiny sign that no one can see saying "cash only" after always taking card payment, and they act surprised when after not being able to see said sign you ask to pay by card.

Excellent fish & chips. Very good kebebs. Not cheap, but fair price for good sized large cod and large chips.

Just been here for chips and curry and the little man was very rude. Terrible customer service. Chips were okay but the curry sauce was freezing cold and cost £7.00 Wouldn't advise anyone to eat here. Travel a bit further to a decent chip shop.

I will not go back again I tried this place twice because of reviews the first time the fish was soaked in oil the battered sausage tasteless and the chips not great so gave the benefit of doubt but the second time was the same we asked on the second time for freshly cooked crispy battered fish but exactly the same results we was gutted so called to give feed back to the manager and he put the phone down on me.AVOID

Good and generous amount of food. We choose haddock rather than cod - very tasty

Last minute Decision for dinner... The best Cod & Chips (double fried) we have had in a long time.. Highly Recommended

Have been going to this place for years.. however I will not return- all of the Shish kebabs were Burnt and very small portions.

So I was hungry nothing else around so thought nothing to loose well o lost chips so poor kebab well no clue how to make it kust crappie meat no salad just meat omg comon guys have respect for food ur just a greedy plastic place to rip people off shame on u I'm done

Update: not sure if new management, but the shop did take my contactless payment on request. The food was very good and I’m happy as it’s is my local chippy and I can now use them! Well done! Tried to buy f+c but discovered they only take cash … in these times that’s crazy, went to Dolphin fish bar in Abbots Langley who took my card and were several £ better priced. It’s a shame but reading the recent reviews it’s hard to see how they can survive if they don’t move with the times, credit card machines are not expensive, but as someone new to the area they just lost repeat business…. Bit short sighted…

Walked in and asked for a chip butty to be looked at like an alien and told no !! Rude - where’s all the traditional chippies gone ? Try and support small businesses but this is how you’re treated.

They only take cash ,fish and chips twice more than £22 and it wasn't that good ,rip off Britain

Gave four stars because I only had chips. If it had been on chips alone, it would be a solid 5. Perfectly cooked, crispy with fluffy middle. Big shop, probably had tables at one point: service was swift and polite. Gave a tip on service alone. If chips are an overall indicator of the quality of all the food, I would definitely make a point of going out of my way to go there. I live in Bedfordshire, so that's a bit far, but if I am on the M25 jct 20 and hungry, it's worth the detour.

Fish undercooked and tasteless, batter too thick and soggy. Chips undercooked. Almost 20 quid.

Tried this place 14 years ago and was not impressed. Tried again today based on all the positive reviews but remains “not good” imho. Slab of tasteless chips and soft, oily battered sausage. Batter should be firm and crisp, enough to support weight of the sausage. Ate half the sausage, batter fell off, and left most of the chips. Disappointed.

Lovely scampi but £6.50 for 8bits in my opinion is too much

Large chips, 2x sausage in batter, medium cod which was quite large about £17.50. Standard of fish was pretty good,moist,fresh, batter could be slightly crispier but enjoyable. Sausages were good, batter again could be crispier. Chips were good with plenty of salt n vinegar added, thanks. Would eat here again.

this used to be a weekly treat during lockdown. The portion sizes were huge, one piece of plaice was enough for two, and the fish was cooked to perfection. Last weekend i picked up a plaice and chips. It was swimming in grease, not fully cooked and very small. It ended up being thrown in the food caddy. I wonder if the place, no pun intended, is under new ownership

If this is the best place in the area for fish and chips, I wish you all well! The fish was soggy with fat. The chips on the other hand were as dry as they could get. It was all pre-cooked... God knows how long it all sat there before I came along!!

Well what can I say..the last 3years I've raved about how great this place is but in last couple months it's been going off course in quality and how they cook and serve the food. The fish n chips I had tonight was shockingly bad,barely cooked fish and soggy batter,the chips don't seem to be cooked the way they used to(don't appear to use hoppers on top of fryers) weren't crisp and golden ,lots of small bits like potato peeling (you get some I know)..very sad end to Friday night fish and chips adventure, as I won't be going back there from now on😢..shame

This place used to serve amazing chips and today I got chips that were lukewarm and clearly been sat a long time. Really expensive for what we ate. Threw chips away as not edible! 2 small chips, a curry and a peas was £8.00!

Serves an unextraordinary kebab. Plain, simple and maybe a little overpriced. I've had kebabs half the price, and twice the amount. Some of them even tasted okay as well. Would I go back here? No. That's my answer.

Freshly cooked haddock and chips - the chips were crispy and hot even after I had walked back with them wrapped up. But I must say that is the most expensive Fish & Chip supper I have had, including sit down restaurants!

Today I checked on google to see what chip shops were near as I was working down the road I found this one! Saw the reviews and thought brilliant I’ll give that a go I held out all day and was looking forward to getting some fish and chips for dinner, It was rather DISAPPOINTING the fish wasn’t cooked to order the fish was already in the hot counter, it’s not the end of the world some places do cook to order it’s a nice touch as you no your foods not been sitting for ages, Was a nice quick service guys working very friendly good size portion can’t knock the service! just the fish was over batterd way to thick made it go goey on the inside wasn’t pleasant scraped out the fish and left the batter as was starting to make me feel a bit meh texture of fish felt but slimey all in all the fish 3/10 chips I get chip shops double cook chips or some blanch them for 10 mins so when it gets busier they can get the customer in and out but then you loose quality! they wasn’t any thing special had better else where Would I visit again ?? Quality before quantity, they make sure that enough time is spent preparing your order to make it as good as it should be.

Had fish and chips x2 on Monday eve. Was best I had in years. Great batter thick. Cod and chips were amazing .. Very clean safe. Lovely staff too and a amazing portion of tzazakiki garlic Greek mayonnaise. Amazing you can't beat it. Will go back excellent

We love their Chicken Shish, freshly cooked chicken breast and good variety of really fresh vegetables with jalapeños. Deliciously, mouth watering!

Not up to standard .I don't mind waiting for freshly prepared..But this time just seemed to get old rubbish plus mushy peas were just green pea juice not edible. Shame use to be one of the best around..

This is one of the best fish and chip shops I've been to, even compared to cornwall and devon. The fish is cooked fresh in a nice light batter, chips are crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. If you're ever in Kings Langley or nearby, it's well worth a visit.

YASSS KL chippy! Hype hype hype. Giant portions. Like seriously, piles of chips bigger than the boat the fish got caught on. A large easily feeds 3 people. My only quarm is they don't do cones of chips. £2 is the cheapest portion. You generally don't have to wait too long, there's outside parking, and a Spar 3 minutes down the road if you need beers 👌

Quality food from here. Beautiful fish, and way too many chips! Even the 'small' portion of chips is massive. I ordered fish only and the kind guys put me a few chips in any way. Great staff, great food.

When I come and visit my aunty we always get fish n chips from here. It was really nice. This time we shared a fish and a small chips. Which was just perfect. Fish and batter had a lovely taste to it and the chips were great. Thankyou I will be back..

Nice Cod Fish and chips. I always make a point of visiting whilst I'm in Hertfordshire. I must say though, that you people in King's Langley are paying 50% more for your fish and chips than us people in the Valeys of Wales.

Nice food, nice people although slow moving at peak times. After getting one's health food supplies for the week one can nip next door to chippy and get the cholesterol right back up again.

Very disappointing as the times before i brought chips from here have been good. The chips were unusually hard and did not taste nice. Not only that but found a piece of hair after opening and eating already due to being hungry, ended up throwing away the rest of the chips.
