My wife worked here 10yrs ago.. What a change!! For the better.. Vast improvement.. What they have done to extend the resteraunt area is inventive.. The food is top notch served by very polite and friendly staff and warrants a return visit. More than once..

First time we've ever been, but we can assure ya, it won't be the last. From the moment we walked in the door, we were made to feel welcome by the landlord. Managed to find a good seat straight away, which is always a good thing in a strange place. The locals were very welcoming as well, they made us feel very relaxed, not something you find everywhere. We went because we wanted to see the Elvis tribute act Martin, and he didn't disappoint, he was fantastic as per usual. We can't rate the food on this review, because we didn't have any, but if its anything like the rest of the experience, I'm sure it will be very good. One of the best nights out we've had for a long time. Like I said before, we will be back. All the best to everyone at the George and Dragon, from Pete & Sharon 👍😉🍺 P.S I'm 66 years old and this was the very first time I've ever been out with my wife and not had any alcohol lol, she drives everywhere normally, but didn't fancy driving somewhere she didn't know, so I offered to drive lol, because I really wanted to see Martin do his stuff. Get that Newcastle Brown stocked up for next time Mark lol 😉

Decent local pub. Never had food in there but service is always as fast it can be despite business and there’s plenty of good folk in there most of the time.

Not at all friendly, if you are not a local or male you have no chance getting served. It’s a shame you have to show you backwards.

Reccomend the food at this restaurant. The chips are brilliant, they are homemade, not frozen either. Staff are great.

I eat here a lot, from takeaways, to special meals, to my tea in the pub, and the food is brilliant no matter what the occasion, if you eat in, the waiting on staff are polite and food is served exactly as it should be, very well priced across the whole menu and alway cooked to perfection, nothing is ever too much trouble

Lovely little pub with great value food. The mixed grill was huge and nice quality meat. I had the hake for starters and it was fresh and well cooked. For the chip lovers these are a must, homemade and triple cooked. Will absolutely visit again.

Lovely Sunday lunch limited choice but good home cook fresh food

Super little pub, tucked away in the quaint village of Newton. The food is to die for, tradition fare cooked perfectly. The staff are second to none and make you feel as if you're the only people they are there to serve. Well worth a visit, book early as limited seating and is extremely popular.

We live in the village but this was our first time having a meal at the George. Wow first class service, excellent allergy knowledge ( I'm a Coeliac) super choices, great food quality, quick service and nice atmosphere. Thanks guys we will be back. Don't miss out it's well worth it, very reasonable prices.

We broke our north to south journey by leaving the M1 at junction 28 and looking for a pub which was serving food and showing the Man City v Liverpool match. What a great find this was . Thank you to all the staff who made us feel welcome and looked after us so well !

Loved this place. A little rough around the edges but the staff are wonderful and all the other punters were chatty, friendly and full of cheer. They even rustled us up a beef cob because they'd run out of veg for the roasts despite the fact the kitchen was closed. Great afternoon.

Me and the wifes third visit to this pub as its recently become our local, brilliant atmosphere, staff and entertainment. Reasonably priced and me and the wife had a great night. We'd definitely reccomend a visit!

We shared my nieces beautiful Baby shower last Sunday at the George and Dragon. It was organised by her older sister KK, who made it a fun pack day. People laughed and was so happy it was nice to see. The buffet was done by the ladies in the kitchen, at the George and Dragon. The prepriotor mark and partner made a great job of making everything run smoothly. Thank you so much greatly appreciated. Fantastic buffet👌👌The cake and the Fairy cakes were really tasty wow!!! Its a must, we have got to mention (de crem de la crem) yes, wait for it?? "A drum roll please". "YES" The Chocolate Fountain and not fogetting The Sweet Shop well what can I say all the adult women Well done KK for making your younger Sisters baby Shower one to remember.

Brilliant local pub, the new landlord and landlady Mark & Michelle have transformed this place from a very tired decor to smart and modern all through both bar areas. If you're used to the old place, you won't recognise it. Great choice of beers, entertainment every Fri and Sat, go and have a look for yourself, you'll be going back again for sure.

The George & Dragon at Newton is a lovely homely pub and restaurant with the best & most friendly landlord /lady you could ever meet. BRIAN & SUE & son JOSH. The food is all homely cooked to your liking and plenty of it too. (There's not many that can eat plate full of Brian's super Sunday Roasts) Now here's the sad bit ☹️☹️☹️ the hosts of this lovely establishment are being moved on by the brewery with nowhere to go!!! How cruel some people are. Brian is hoping to get another pub not too far away, so they can depend on our support wherever they go and we hope his regulars do the same to teach the brewery a lesson. We shall miss you all until you pop up somewhere else real soon, and we wish you all the very best for the future. Doug & Jo 😊

Fish and chips as good as the coast!

I was a regular at New Inn but have decided to visit the George recentley , warm welcome from 5 star hosts , beer is excellent Mrs likes wine , great open fire that kept us warm and dogs welcome , well done to you both you deserve success , oh food is also spot on and affordable xx xx
